legendhiro
haven't posted anything for awhile, so... [spoiler=Chapter 5] A Deadly Game;Quest for the Digital World “The rules are simple,” said ShadowEmpressmon. “You will fight each of my minions one at a time in each of their own home regions as you travel across the continent. You can have tomorrow to travel as far as the Ocean Region to gather supplies, if you so wish. Then you will travel through the forest, over the mountains, and across the Wilderness Regions to Dark Island. There you will cross Dark Forest until you reach Dark Castle, where you will face me. That is, if you live that long. Defeat me, and you will have won. “However, all the while, more and more power will be Drained from your Crests until they break. You could say that I’ve already won!” “Never count us out,” I said. “We never give in.” “You will,” said ShadowEmpressmon maliciously. “You begin your quest tomorrow.” And with that, she disappeared. We had nothing to do but wait. The following morning, as the “game” began, we said goodbye to our new friend Gigadramon. He was heading back to the Citadel to try and rebuild. We wished him luck and went on our way. All the while, I was forming a strategy. There was no food anywhere in the area. The foliage in the area had been destroyed by all of the fighting. I understood why ShadowEmpressmon had mentioned the Ocean Region. Our only chance was to move along the river until we found some food so that we could stock up for our journey, and the best place to do that might be the tropical area around the beach. Of course, I was hoping that our search wouldn’t take us so far in the wrong direction. I was hoping to find food somewhere close. I was in the process of explaining this to Amanda for the fourth time as we walked by the morning’s light toward our still elusive goal. We traveled all day but we couldn’t find any food anywhere. There was evidence of fighting virtually everywhere, but virtually no signs of life. It was like the entire Digital World was dying. “What are we going to do?” Jeremy asked me. “We expected to find food hours ago.” “We’ll have to keep going until we reach the Ocean Region. Maybe we’ll find some food there. Once we stock up on supplies we’ll use the trees in the area to build a raft and travel down the river to the mountains, cross over them, make our way across the Wilderness Regions to the Dark Island, kill ShadowEmpressmon, and go home. Piece of cake.” “If we’re going all the way to the Ocean Region,” said Jeremy, “we should cross the river at Digital Bridge. That way it’ll be a strait shot to the beach. If we keep going this way, we’ll have to cross the river at the delta.” “True,” I said, “but if we cross at Digital Bridge we’ll have to cross through the area where we fought our final battle with Tyranterramon. The site where the Guardians were killed. I don’t really want to go back there, do you?” “Not too much, no,” Jeremy replied, and we walked for awhile in silence. It took us all day to reach the river delta. Based on the sun’s position it was probably just past noon, so about seven, seven and a half hours of nonstop travel. It sucked! I was tired, hungry, and thirsty, and being me I wasn’t very happy as a result. I can be kind of an ass when I’m frustrated. “Come on, let’s get this over with,” I said. I crossed my arms and stared out over the delta. “The current isn’t horrible, but it would be safer to fly across.” I turned to address my team, and I slipped, falling into the water below. The air was knocked from my lungs, and the current pulled me deep under the surface of the river. I was almost out of time. I couldn’t hold my breath much longer. I thought that something must have happened to the others. Then, suddenly, I was pulled out of the water by Mechamon. He flew me to the far side of the delta and dropped me. I was soaked to the bone. “Damn,” I said. “You okay?” Mechamon asked. “Yeah,” I said scathingly, crossing my arms again, “but my favorite shirt got wet.” Mechamon flew the others over to me one at a time. Before they had a chance to start teasing me about my little accident I jumped up and said, “Okay, let’s get moving.” I started walking, ignoring the chuckling behind me. We walked across the rocky part of the Digital World’s beach region for another hour before we came to the more easily navigated sandy beach. We crossed the sand to the neighboring forest and stepped within the cover and shade of the tropical trees. “Alright everyone,” I commanded, “spread out and search for food.” As my team moved away I turned to Serpentmon and BlackColtmon and said, “Okay guys. We’ll establish a camp here. We used up most of our daylight getting here. We’ll use tonight to rest and regain our strength. We’ll construct a raft and continue our journey tomorrow. “Now, I need you two to secure the area. I’m going to scout out the beach. Look for anything useful or dangerous.” “You got it,” said Serpentmon, excited to be doing something more exciting than traveling. BlackColtmon merely huffed as I turned and headed off to explore the area. I walked for several minutes before finally coming to a conclusion. Not only were there no threatening life forms on the beach, there was no life on the beach at all! I’d expected to find some cool fish Digimon, or maybe a sand crab or something, but there was nothing, as if something had driven away every Digimon in the area. Oh no! I thought, realizing the reason for the beach’s vacancy. There was one Digimon for each element, except for water. The reason that there are no Digimon on the beach is because the water element Digimon has been here the whole time! It scared them all away, or worse! I looked over at the ocean just as a huge form appeared. He was massive, twice as long as MetalSeadramon at least. He had red scaly skin and massive fins about 1/3 of the way down his body and all down his back. On his head he had four horns; two coming off of the back of his jaw, one at the top of his snout, and one coming off of the top of his head. He had backswept fins coming off of either side of the base of his skull, like Dragonterramon’s. “It’s about time you got here,” the massive Digimon said. “I was on my way down the river to face you there when I got a report from my master that you were on your way to my home region. Oh how happy I was! My name is EmperorSeadramon, and I will be your end!” [spoiler=Chapter 6] The Ocean Region;Vipramon vs. EmperorSeadramon “I don’t think so,” I said, projecting my voice out over the water. Okay, I thought, the Courageous Soldier can hold this guy off until the others hear the fighting and come in for an assist. Piece of cake. I placed my hand by my waste, “Armor of the Courageous Soldier!” My armor and sword appeared, and I drew my sword. I flared up my aura, rising slowly into the air. “You know, I’ve had enough of egomaniacal freaks trying to ruin a generally peaceful place. I’d normally wait for the rest of my team to arrive before facing a powerful enemy, but I had a rather embarrassing experience earlier, and I really need to blow off some steam.” I concentrated and my aura flared up even more, burning like a flame. I charged forward through the air, strait toward the foe’s head. SerpentmonI was scouting the area around our camp when I heard a strange sound, like a massive wave crashing against the beach. I wasn’t sure what it was, but I was worried about John, so I decided to check it out. John“Aqua Wall!” called EmperorSeadramon. A powerful wall of water rose up between me and the opponent, forcing me to halt my advance. “Aqua Dragon!” He called. Two glowing yellow eyes appeared in the water wall and it reformed into a massive dragon-shaped stream of water that charged me, hoping to strike. I raised my shield and pulled back, keeping just ahead of the attack until it crashed against the beach. I shot up and forward, slashing with my sword, slinging a wave of heat and fire at the enemy’s head. He was hit, but seemed unharmed. Fire against water. Not a very good match-up from where I’m standing! I have to fight smart. But how do you fight smart against something that’s so huge?! “You are no more than a pest, human. I will dispose of you quickly,” said EmperorSeadramon. “Not if I have anything to say about it!” came a new voice. I recognized it as Serpentmon’s. He was standing below me on the beach. “Good to see you, pal!” I said. “Let’s do this, but we’ll have to conserve energy.” I sheathed my sword and used my shield as a surf board, riding the rising water, as I removed my Digivice and Digiplayer, connected them together, and inserted my Neo Crest of Courage, “Initiate Digiplayer Digivolution!” “Serpentmon, Direct Digivolve to! WingedDragonterramon!” The winged dragon flew forward through the rising wall of water, dispersing it. I slid off of my shield, caught it, and redrew my sword. WingedDragonterramon circled and took up position further away and to my right. “You cannot beat me,” EmperorSeadramon exclaimed. “Fighting me is fighting the ocean itself!” And suddenly the water began to move again. Liquid spires lashed up at us, forcing us to go on the defensive. The attacks don’t let up, I thought as I dodged attack after attack. My armor lets me act and react at the slightest thought. Without it I’d never be able to keep up with such a fierce opponent’s movements! I pulled back to dodge one attack, dropped below another, and swung around a third. A fourth attack came toward me, too close to dodge. I focused my energy into my sword and swung, dispersing the water spire with great effort. I swooped from there toward the foe and slashed. EmperorSeadramon roared as my blade cut through his flesh, his water spires falling back into the ocean. “Now buddy!” I cried, sliding away from the foe at high speed. “Wing Fireblaze!” WingedDragonterramon called. He unleashed a huge stream of flames from his wings, causing some pretty serious damage, though it wasn’t enough to cause any lasting harm. “He’s powerful,” I said, “we’ll have to risk going up another level.” I held my Neo Crest of Courage in my hand. It glowed and floated in the air. I pointed the input slot of my Digiplayer at the glowing Crest and said, “Initiate Ultimate Digivolution!” A beam shot from the Crest into the input slot and my Digimon became the cybernetic dragon, “WingedDragonterramon, Ultimate Digivolve to! MetalDragonterramon!” The mighty cyborg shot forward and slammed EmperorSeadramon with his shield. The foe swung back a few feet. MetalDragonterramon fired his blaster, but the blast was absorbed by a water spire. MetalDragonterramon let loose a barrage of twelve fireballs, but two water spires rose up, lashing back and forth like whips, extinguishing the attack. “I’m done playing games!” EmperorSeadramon bellowed. “Aqua Dragon!” The spires merged into a massive stream of water with glowing yellow eyes. The stream took on the form of a serpentine dragon. We were unable to dodge. Before I knew it my Digimon and I were thrown into the ocean, my armor gone, MetalDragonterramon reduced to is Child state. JeremyI heard a crash. I pulled my Digicalculator out and scanned the area for enemies. I detected a huge exchange of powerful attacks nearby. Immediately I sent a message to the others via the Digivices. We were out of the forest in two minutes, heading toward the beach. BlackColtmon met us there. There was no sign of John, Serpentmon, or anyone else. Where could they be? I wondered. Then I saw the massive serpentine figure and I realized what was going on. “Those idiots!” I cried, and I started running. The eleven of us reached the shore just as John and Serpentmon were thrown into the water. I reached for my Digivice, but BlackColtmon said, “Wait! Wait just a few minutes. Can’t you feel it? This fight is John and Serpentmon’s fight. They can handle this.” My instincts still told me to act, but I trusted BlackColtmon’s fighting instincts more than my own. So instead of attacking, I simply waited, worried that I might never see my friends again, but confident in their power. JohnI was hurt. Bad. My whole body ached and throbbed with pain. I saw Serpentmon sinking alongside me a few feet away, just out of my reach. Somehow I found the strength to kick my way toward him. The tip of my middle finger brushed Serpentmon’s scales, and as they did, there was a flash of light. When the light faded, Serpentmon and I were one being, healed and fully aware. We were Vipramon, a reptilian warrior in black armor, carrying a buckler and a snake head double lance with two huge fangs as the lance tips. I looked around to locate EmperorSeadramon. I saw him alongside two whale-like Digimon that were rushing right at me. Behind the wale Digimon, which I came to learn are called Whamon, were five large fish Digimon with silvery exoskeleton plates covering most of their scaly skin. These I learned are called Coelamon. “Interesting new form,” said EmperorSeadramon. “Let’s see if you have what it takes to defeat my ocean troops.” The Whamon rushed me, slamming me and using their greater mass to knock me out of control. Before I recovered my composure the Coelamon bombarded me with multiple sonic bursts, which I deflected with my buckler. The Coelamon shot past me, and the Whamon pulled back. I was surrounded. Piece of cake! My lance tips glowed green and I shot forward. I shot strait through one of the Whamon, my lance forward, tearing Whamon to bits. Then I reached over, slashed the second Whamon to ribbons with a burst of green energy, and turned to face the Coelamon. I swung my lance, releasing energy from the lance tips, shredding the Coelamon, and leaving just me and EmperorSeadramon. JeremyI waited. There were several flashes under the surface of the water. Then, suddenly, a new form rose up out of the water. Was that Vipramon?! Vipramon landed on the water, his aura reshaped, allowing him to stand on its surface. Ahead of him, the massive sea serpent re-emerged as well, roaring loudly. “I’ll finish you with one final attack!” the serpent declared, drawing huge quantities of water toward him. Oh wow, I thought, this can’t be good! John“Aqua Dragon!” called EmperorSeadramon. The massive sea dragon attack emerged from the water, larger than any other manifestation so far. It was right on top of me when I countered. “Vipra Strike!” The head of a ghostly green snake split off from my lance and bit through the massive watery dragon’s neck. The glowing green snake emerged fully from my lance and dropped the now dead dragon. It fell around me, melting back into the ocean. “Impossible!” EmperorSeadramon cried in fear. “Wrong,” I said. “Now it’s time for you to feel the pain that you have helped cause others. This is for every Digimon that you hurt or corrupted! Feel their pain alongside them!! The huge green serpent reached forward and opened its jaws. EmperorSeadramon tried to retreat under the water, but the serpent snapped, catching him in the neck and lifting him up. “This can’t be happening!” the enemy cried. “I am EmperorSeadramon!” He became code and dispersed. I raised my palm and drew a copy of his data into my body. My attack faded, there was a flash, and I was myself again, standing on the beach with Serpentmon at my side and a new Digichip in my hand. .:Abarai Renji:.
Hmmmm... inspiration from Final Fantasy I, perhaps? Four Great Fiends and then a Final Dark Emperor/Empress? Cool.
Nexev
But Renji if that was true then: 1. Protectormon will gain a new class.2. Empressmon turns out to be her sister (done) but is secretly under controlby an alien3. They have an awesome theme song Wait, yeah that could work. But I thought thier was more than four? Anyway I can't figure out how they are going to win, they'll run out of digivolving power and thier aren't anybody left to do a Deus Ex Machina. Besides maybe GLARY who doesn't even use a crest and maybe the power of his special island. That other guy (fredrik or something) can also help. .:Abarai Renji:.
Yeah, same goes for Fredrik. He didn't use a Crest either, and his partner Fang is already in his WereGarurumon state. And Nex', there were only Four Fiends in Final Fantasy I before you face Garland, same with Final Fantasy IV and their Four Fiends of Elements. :
legendhiro
just keep reading guys. new chapter or two later today.and here it is, the next installment! [spoiler=Chapter 7] Travel to Mountain Lake The next morning we awoke and had breakfast. We had found some banana things and some berries. There were also, of course, the typical mushrooms and apples, which we packed away for later. Then we worked until about 10:30-ish a.m. on a raft made of trees at the forest’s edge. Serpentmon couldn’t seem to stop himself from goofing off. I thought it was funny, but BlackColtmon thought it was stupid. He beat the crap out of Serpentmon. Multiple times. We finally got the raft into the river at about 10:40. The raft nearly got away from us before we could get on, but Mechamon caught it, holding it still despite the current. We climbed aboard the raft. Mechamon changed back into Mechmon and pulled himself onboard. We rode the current along the river for several more hours, unaware of what waited for us at the mountains. The unusual thing about the rivers of the Digital World is that the main river known as Digital River and the smaller one known as the Little Digi both flow toward the mountains. I wondered where all of the water went from there, but I figured that it was a mystery for another day. My team and I watched the mountain grow ever closer. We had never seen the eastern end of Digital River, but we all figured that it went into the mountains. I figured that there was some sort of mountain lake there, like Lock Ness, but I couldn’t be sure. It was near the end of our long journey that we found ourselves floating through a rapid that cut through the mountains, like a mountain channel. It was maybe 5:00 p.m. when we were dumped into the waters of an enormous, clear-watered mountain lake. “I knew there’d be a lake,” I said smugly. “Stop bragging,” said Sarah, punching my arm. “How do we get to shore?” Serpentmon asked, jumping up onto my shoulder, the raft slowing as it neared the middle of the lake. “Easy,” I answered, standing up, “we use physics.” I reached down at my waist, “For every action,” My armor appeared and I drew my sword, “There is a reaction.” I swung my sword, bracing my feet against the raft. The backlash from my attack pushed back on me, I pushed on the raft, and the raft sped toward the rocky shore at the opposite end of the lake. “Piece of cake!” In only a few short minutes we were grounded. We jumped off of the raft immediately, happy to once again be on dry land. “So where do we go from here?” Jen asked. “Not sure,” I answered. “We need to find a way through the mountains.” I scanned to the area, looking for a path trough the rocky walls that surrounded the lake. The only opening in the walls was the waterfall that flowed into the lake about 350 yards around the edge. It seemed that the only way out was by air, or back through the way we came. “Okay,” I said, “we’re in another region. We should expect an attack from the next Digimon to come at any moment.” “Too bad for you,” came a deep, earth-shaking voice, “any moment is right now!” Earth and stone rose up, levitating into the air and then coming together and merging into the massive rock Digimon that we met in the woods. “I am KingGolemon,” he announced. “Your next battle will be against me. Here in my home region, I am stronger than ever!” “If it’s a battle you want,” I said pointing my sword at the foe, “then it’s a battle you’ll get! Digimon, it’s time to Digivolve!” My team let their Crests rise into the air, plugged their devices together, aiming their Digiplayer input slots at their respective Crests I allowed my crests to merge, as did Jen and Sarah. “Initiate,” said Jeremy, Amanda, and Kristin, “Warp Digivolution!” “Initiate,” said Sarah, Jen, and I, “Warp D.N.A. Digivolution!” “Mechmon, Warp Digivolve to!” “Chickomon, Warp Digivolve to!” “Technopupmon, Warp Digivolve to!” “Decimatormon!” “MagnaBrauntomon!” “CyberGarurumon!” “Serpentmon…” “BlackColtmon…” “…Warp D.N.A. Digivolve to!” “Coltmon…” “Ponymon…” “…Warp D.N.A. Digivolve to!” “InfernoKnightmon!” Coltmon and Ponymon morphed into their Ultimate forms and merged together into a tall metallic angel with ten golden wings and disks on his shoulders, carrying a staff with multiple stacked gears at the top. The staff crackled with the same celestial-tech energy that fueled MechAngemon’s and TechAngewomon’s attacks, “GeroAngemon!” “Alright boys and girls,” I said, flipping my sword over and planting the tip of my blade in the ground, “time to go to work.” “I’ll crush you!” KingGolemon cried. He plunged his fist into the ground and called “Terrain Crusher!” The rocky ground beneath him reshaped, reaching up to grab the Digimon. The flying Digimon took off, but CyberGarurumon was caught by a grouping of stone spires. The spires would have crushed him, but InfernoKnightmon blew them apart with a burst of energy from his cannon. As soon as InfernoKnightmon fired, however, he fell to the ground, landing on one knee, and split into his two Ultimate forms. MetalDragonterramon de-Digivolved to Serpentmon and my Neo Crest of Courage cracked. No! I thought. It’s already happened! My Digimon have fought the longest under the shroud, so it makes sense that they’d go first. Knighthramon doesn’t have long, and if I’m right, the others don’t have long either! “Serpentmon!” I called. He was dazed, but he sprang toward me. I caught him and he swung around my shoulders and passed out. I raised my sword and rose into the air. This could get real bad real fast! “Knight’s Slash!” called Knighthramon. He swung his lance, slinging blue energy at KingGolemon. KingGolemon put up a wall of rock that absorbed the blast, blowing the wall apart in the process. Debris from the wall spewed into the air, blinding KingGolemon. Using the foe’s temporary weakness to his advantage, MagnaBrauntomon rushed forward and punched KingGolemon in the jaw. The huge rock Digimon slid backward, but remained standing. CyberGarurumon ran, circling KingGolemon. Once he was behind the target he took aim and fired his Cyber Wolf Claw attack from his palm, nailing KingGolemon in the back. Next KingGolemon was hit in the left shoulder by a beam from Decimatormon’s shoulder cannon, and hit in the chest by an energy wave from GeroAngemon’s staff. Knighthramon charged up his lance and shot forward, ready to strike the killing blow. But before he cold reach the target, he was seized with pain and returned to his Child form. My second Crest, the Neo Crest of Friendship cracked as well. KingGolemon rose to his full height, pulling stones from the environment toward him to repair his damaged body. “I gave you a chance to destroy me, fools,” said KingGolemon, “and you failed. Now it’s my turn to try and kill you.” He raised his huge fist and swung it forward calling, “Rock Fist!” Chunks of rock from the cliff behind him tore loose and flew toward the Digimon. And before we could react, the tables turned. [spoiler=Chapter 8] Digivolution Fails! Stones flew at the Digimon. Decimatormon and GeroAngemon rose into the air above the range of the attack. CyberGarurumon jumped gracefully from rock to rock and then dropped back down to the ground. MagnaBrauntomon positioned himself behind one of the oncoming rocks, braced himself, and caught the stone with great effort. He pushed, grunting, and flung the rock back at the source. KingGolemon caught the massive rock in one hand, squeezed, crushing it, and swung his fist, sending the fragments of the shattered rock flying toward the Digimon like bullets, scoring several direct hits on each Digimon. Immediately KingGolemon punched the ground and called, “Terrain Crusher!” Rocky spires rose up out of the ground, slamming into Decimatormon, MagnaBrauntomon, and GeroAngemon. CyberGarurumon avoided damage by jumping atop one of the rising spires, using it for lift and speed, jumped, flipped, and drop kicked KingGolemon hard in the chest. Despite the power behind the attack, it had no effect. KingGolemon grabbed CyberGarurumon by the leg and swung him up into the air. He went to swing CyberGarurumon down and slam him into the ground, but before he could, CyberGarurumon removed his sash, letting his cloak flutter free, revealing his missile launchers. He let loose a wave of missiles that nailed KingGolemon in the chest, “Cyber Wolf Bite!” The explosion from CyberGarurumon’s attack threw him clear, and knocked KingGolemon off balance. He stumbled backward as CyberGarurumon flipped backward and landed gracefully on his feet. “If you’re finished,” said GeroAngemon, “then its time we ended this.” GeroAngemon raised his staff. A glowing sphere appeared at the staff’s tip, which GeroAngemon flung at the foe. It hit and blossomed into an array that surrounded KingGolemon, freezing him in place. “Kill him now while I’ve got him pinned. And move quickly. I’m losing power!” Decimatormon flipped his arm-mounted guns into active position, took aim with all of his weapons, and fired calling, “Decimation Assault!” MagnaBrauntomon braced himself and aimed his missiles, firing all eight missiles at once, “Braunto Blaster!” CyberGarurumon grabbed his right wrist with his left hand, aimed is right palm at the foe, and discharged a green energy beam, calling, “Cyber Wolf Claw!” The attacks flew true. Come on, I thought, hit! It was close, but just before the attacks could hit their mark, the array broke as GeroAngemon reverted to Coltmon and Ponymon, who collapsed. The attacks did hit something, throwing smoke and debris into the air. When the debris cleared, it revealed KingGolemon standing unharmed behind the remains of several shattered rock walls. “Nice try,” said KingGolemon. “If that array hadn’t failed when it did, I never would have been able to throw those walls up in time!” He laughed menacingly, and then roared. The earth beneath us shook. “I can’t believe it,” I said, “we’re running out of time already!” “What are we gonna do now?!” Amanda screamed, clutching Jen’s arm. “We hit him hard,” said Jeremy, “we hit him fast, and we hit him now!” Jeremy’s Crest burned. An aura appeared around Decimatormon and he aimed his weapons at the foe and fired. His missiles flew faster and his laser beams were thicker and more intense. But KingGolemon commanded the earth itself. He punched the ground and a multi-layer rock wall rose out of the ground. The wall was obliterated, but KingGolemon remained safe. “Rock Punch!” called KingGolemon. He swung his fist. Stones of varying sizes and shapes flew strait at Decimatormon. He was still weak from his previous attack. He was hit “No!” I heard Jeremy cry. I looked over. His Crest cracked, and Decimatormon became Mechmon. I turned my focus back toward the battle. There are only two of us left now! How long until they lose their power too? “I’ll crush you!” cried MagnaBrauntomon. He did a running jump, fell toward the foe, and punched at the foe’s head. KingGolemon was stunned for a moment by the energy of the attack, but he didn’t hesitate for more than a split second. He focused his energy and several spires rose up, catching MagnaBrauntomon’s fist. Another spire shot up, catching MagnaBrauntomon in the abdomen, throwing him through the air. Before MagnaBrauntomon landed, while he still held KingGolemon’s full attention, CyberGarurumon jumped up behind the foe and fired his missiles. KingGolemon, however, heard the attack coming and raised another wall of rock to defend against it. The debris from the rock wall knocked the flightless CyberGarurumon backward into the Cliffside. KingGolemon made a fist and the cliff crumbled, falling on the now motionless machine. “No!” Kristin cried. “I got him,” I said. I placed Serpentmon on the ground, shot forward, and swung my sword, blasting the debris away, swooped, and grabbed the unconscious Technopupmon, carrying him back to his partner. I glanced at Kris’s Crest. It was cracked as well. “You need to take him down now,” Amanda said to her Digimon. MagnaBrauntomon rose slowly to his feet. “I’m losing power fast,” MagnaBrauntomon said, “I don’t think I can fight anymore.” “Try,” Amanda said. MagnaBrauntomon raised one hand toward his foe, and then collapsed. Amanda’s Crest cracked and went dark. I watched as MagnaBrauntomon became Chickomon, and our last hope of winning faded away forever. “We’ve lost,” I said, falling to my knees. “Not…yet,” said Serpentmon, rising slowly and with great effort. I looked around. All of the Child Digimon were standing. They had lost their Crests and were too tired to even reach Adult level, but they were prepared to keep up the fight. We can’t retreat, I thought pushing myself up onto my feet, we’re surrounded by mountains. Our only chance is to stay and fight. “All Digimon,” I said, “prepare for battle. This isn’t over yet.” “You’ll change your mind when you’re forced to fight without your power to Digivolve,” said KingGolemon. “Let’s see what you have left!” Behind KingGolemon a large stone transformed into three creatures, smaller than KingGolemon, made of rock and built much the same way, with gas spouts down their backs. I pulled out my portable Digicomp and read, “Golemon, virus-type Adult Digimon summoned from the earth. They are soulless minions that usually require a chant to be read to induce their summoning.” “Leave the Golemon to us,” said Ponymon, gesturing to herself, Coltmon, Chickomon, Mechmon, and Technopupmon. “You guys focus on KingGolemon.” I nodded and turned toward the laughing foe. “Okay Serpentmon, jump on. You too BlackColtmon.” Serpentmon jumped back onto my shoulder. BlackColtmon stood on my shield, between my feet. I held my sword ready and we took off. “Serpent Strike!” called Serpentmon. He fired dozens of tiny explosive fang-like needles at KingGolemon’s head. “Black Hoof Fire!” called BlackColtmon. Black fire flared up around his front hooves and poured over the foe’s head as well. “My turn,” I said. An aura burned around my sword. I swung, slinging heat and flames at the foe in the wake of the other two attacks. All three attacks were direct hits. KingGolemon seemed to feel some pain as a result, but he took no real damage. “Insects!” KingGolemon called out, enraged. “You should have surrendered when you had the chance. It would have made your deaths much easier!” Meanwhile, the other Digimon were pooling their strength. They combined their power to take down one Golemon, while they dodged attacks from the other two. Jeremy’s Digimon had launched the final attack, so he received a Digichip containing Golemon’s data. Jeremy used the chip to augment Mechmon’s physical strength, and Mechmon punched out a second Golemon, while Coltmon and Ponymon hit the third with Hoof Tornado. Chickomon finished it with his attack, and the Digimon turned their attention toward KingGolemon. “With Mechmon’s strength augmented,” said Jeremy, “he should be able to use this!” He removed a chip from his pocket, “Upload Digichip.” “Fist of the Nile!” Mechmon said, calling the name of the fallen Desert Guardian Pharaohmon’s attack. He jumped up and punched with all of his strength, nailing the giant rock creature in the face. KingGolemon was knocked over onto his side. The effects of Jeremy’s Digichips faded and Mechmon dropped to one knee, almost completely drained of strength. “Impressive,” said KingGolemon, rising to his feet. His jaw was chipped and cracked where he had been hit. “You managed to hurt me. But it looks like you’re spent.” “We have plenty of fight left,” said Jen, making a fist with her right hand. “We’ll hit you with all we’ve got,” said Ponymon. She and Coltmon began running in a tight circle. “Hoof Tornado!” they called. Swirls of purple and pink wind rose into the air, bombarding the foe. Serpentmon and BlackColtmon jumped down to land beside Mechmon and Tecnopupmon. Chickomon ran to circle around behind KingGolemon, reaching his desired destination just as the Hoof Tornado subsided. “Tinysaur Tackle!” Chickomon called. He jumped up and slammed into KingGolemon. The attack was fierce, but KingGolemon remained unharmed. This is pointless, I thought. Nothing we do gets through his tough stone skin. And if he attacks, the Child Digimon won’t survive. There has to be some way to increase the power of the Child Digimon, even if the Crests are broken! “I won’t let us lose!!” I screamed, and I felt a new power burning from within me. It was like my Crest power, but different. More pure, and more powerful. A huge aura flared up around me. I didn’t know what was happening. I didn’t know what to do. “What is this?!” KingGolemon demanded. I stood there, stunned, until knowledge began to pour into my mind, and suddenly I knew what it was. I knew what was happening. I looked at KingGolemon and smiled. “This,” I said, “is your end!” Next Chapter The Crest Power Unsealed; Spirit Armor Digivolution! A mysterious new power is unsealed by the broken crests. legendhiro
the crests, which were created "centuries" ago by a God of Digimon, have broken. is this the end of the Digidestined, or has this unfortunate turn of events unlocked a whole new beginning? [spoiler=Chapter 9] The Crest Power Unsealed;Spirit Armor Digivolution! I stood tall as my aura burned with ever-growing intensity. The shape of my Neo Crest of Courage appeared in the air in front of me. Serpentmon began to burn with power as well, and the Crest shape flew toward him, surrounding him with golden light. “This is incredible!” Serpentmon said. “This is…so great! This must be the true power of the Crest! I can use this. I can fight again!” Serpentmon glowed, and he grew into a humanoid form with a serpent’s head and tail, about 6’2” in height. The aura around him faded and formed into golden armor over his head, legs, chest, abdomen, hips, arms, feet, and shoulders. “Serpentmon, Spirit Armor Digivolve to!” His body stopped glowing. He was a humanoid serpent in gleaming golden armor with piercing yellow eyes and a powerful whip-like tail, “Serpentramon!” “Impossible!” KingGolemon screamed, truly afraid. “You can’t Digivolve!” “Looks like you’re wrong,” I said. “Now prepare to experience a power unlike anything you’ve ever encountered. Get him partner!” “I can’t believe this,” said Sarah in a low voice, “Serpentmon found a new way to Digivolve!” “Now he’s Serpentramon,” I said, looking up from my Digicomp handheld, “a Dragon Warrior Digimon that’s stronger than most Perfect Digimon. He uses fire to attack.” Serpentmon rushed the much larger Digimon. KingGolemon clenched is fists, readying himself for the attack he knew was coming. Serpentramon ran at high speed, jumped up, just above KingGolemon’s head, and raised his hands, pointing his claws at the foe. Panels opened in his arm armor. Superheated flames poured from beneath the open panels, engulfing KingGolemon’s entire body, “Violent Eruption!” “Now that’s an attack!” said Jeremy, looking up from his Digicalculator. “Another minute or so and it will penetrate KingGolemon’s rocky skin!” “Keep it up pal!” I cried, excitedly. “I won’t give in so easily!” KingGolemon declared. He roared, and chunks of stone tore out of the ground, blocking most of the oncoming flames. He waved his fist, and the stones pushed strait through the flames, flying strait toward Serpentramon. My Digimon partner was forced to stop his attack and cross his arms to shield his face from his opponent’s attack. The stones hit and knocked him to the ground, where he landed hard on his back. “Yeah,” said Serpentramon, a sarcastic tone to his voice, “that could have hurt less.” He pushed himself up and stood, staring his opponent down. KingGolemon’s rocky skin was still red hot and smoking in places. “That obviously didn’t work,” said Serpentramon, “so I’ll try something else.” He looked upward and called, “Blazing Twister!” A burning tornado rose up around Serpentramon’s body. He looked again at KingGolemon, and the tornado moved toward the foe, surrounding him, burning him, and lifting him several feet off of the ground. “I can’t move!” KingGolemon cried. “Well duh,” said Serpentramon, walking toward him, “you’re not supposed to be able to move. If you can’t move, then you can’t signal the earth to attack me.” Serpentramon took aim at the tornado’s base and called, “Violent Eruption!” Flames poured into the tornado, increasing the intensity of the blaze, dealing KingGolemon massive damage. However, the combo did not deal massive enough damage to kill the foe. KingGolemon focused and roared, releasing a wave of terrakinetic energy that dispersed the attack. He fell back to the ground, shaking the mountains themselves. “Nice try,” KingGolemon said, “but now it’s my turn again. Rock Fist!” KingGolemon swung his fist, tossing stones in my Digimon’s direction. He jumped backward, dodging several stones, but one reached him, bringing him to his knees. “Terrain Crusher!” KingGolemon called, punching the ground. A spire rose up, tossing Serpentramon into the air. He flew over our heads and landed in the water. “He’s still not strong enough to win,” said Jeremy. “He unlocked all of this power, and he’s still not strong enough!” “He’s stronger than you may think,” I said, “look.” I pointed at my Digimon, standing in the shallow water near shore. I’d noticed for the first time the Crest of Courage on the armor over his chest. It burned with ever intensifying power. So much power that I could almost hear the air crackling where it touched my Digimon’s aura. “I don’t understand,” KingGolemon said. “You would be an Adult Digimon, yet you are this strong. How can this be?” “I am the Crest,” Serpentramon replied. “I am the power of Courage itself. As long as anyone anywhere has any courage, I will continue to fight.” “One Digimon alone cannot overcome my power.” KingGolemon claimed. Serpentramon curled his reptilian lips into a smile and replied, “We’ll see.” He jumped, hanging in the air, gliding toward his foe. He opened several panels in his armor along the length of his body. “Rock Fist!” called KingGolemon. He swung his fist, launching stones at Serpentramon. Serpentramon fired a burst of flames at the ground, launching himself high into the air, well over his opponent’s attack, which sailed over our heads and landed in the lake nearby. Serpentramon let himself fall, the armor panels closing, and kicked KingGolemon in the face. KingGolemon lost his balance; stunned just long enough for Serpentramon to land, jump, and kick him in the jaw. The series of kicks was surprisingly effective. “Keep it up bro!” I called, offering my support. “Now for the clincher,” Serpentramon declared, reopening his armor panels and taking aim at KingGolemon. “Violent Eruption!” Flames poured over the staggering enemy’s body. He fell onto his back, as the flames continued to pour over him. The flames flared up in a tremendous torrent, obscuring KingGolemon from view. When Serpentramon’s attack finally died down, the flames dispersed to reveal a huge stone dome where KingGolemon should have been. “He formed a defense barrier!” Jen said. The red hot smoking dome sunk toward the ground, parting at the top. KingGolemon emerged from the dome, his massive fists clenched. The red hot walls crumbled, and the debris fell to the ground. KingGolemon swung his fist, and the superheated rocks and debris hammered Serpentramon. He was thrown hard onto his back and lay still. “Now for the clincher,” KingGolemon cried, mocking Serpentramon. He stepped forward, raising his massive fist. “Stop!” I cried. BlackColtmon and I shot toward Serpentramon. We positioned ourselves between KingGolemon and Serpentramon. “Back off!” “You’re pathetic,” said KingGolemon. “You can’t hope to hurt me.” “Don’t count on that!” I said, and I jumped at KingGolemon, my sword held high. “Rock Fist!” called KingGolemon. He punched me in the stomach. I was thrown clear over Serpentramon where I landed hard, the wind knocked from me, my armor fading away. “I won’t let you hurt my friends,” I said under my breath. I pushed myself up onto my knees, clenching my fists and cried, “I won’t let you hurt my friends!!”And then, before my eyes, something happened. Something that finally shifted fate in our favor. legendhiro
the next two are UP! [spoiler=Chapter 10] Birth of Joustramon;Two-on-One Battle I pushed myself up. I was in a lot of pain, but I felt power flowing through me, and the pain began to fade. In the air in front of me appeared the Crest of Friendship, and mine and BlackColtmon’s auras flared bright blue. He glowed and changed into a tall, humanoid horse with human hands, hooves for feet, and a horse’s tail. The Crest engulfed his body in blue light. The light faded and took form, becoming chest, hip, head, and leg armor, primarily blue, white, and gray in color. Long steel lances appeared, their bases positioned over his hands. “BlackColtmon,” he called, “Spirit Armor Digivolve to! Joustramon!” He stood tall, holding his lances at the ready. “No way!” said Sarah excitedly. “It happened again,” said Jen, “‘Spirit Armor Digivolve’.” “Now we might just have a fighting chance,” said Jeremy, kneeling beside the still weakened Mechmon, helping him to remain standing. Behind Joustramon, I helped an injured Serpentramon up. He knelt beside me, his eyes squeezed shut, his teeth gritted against incredible pain. “This is my fight now,” said Joustramon. He pointed his right lance at KingGolemon and called, “Force Lance!” A swirl of energy shot from the lance tip and hit KingGolemon square in the face. KingGolemon threw his arms up to defend, leaving his body momentarily exposed. Quickly, Joustramon aimed his left lance at KingGolemon’s abdomen and shot forward, calling, “Jousting Rush!” He drove his lance several inches into the enemy’s skin, cracks spreading like spider webs from the impact point. Joustramon pulled his lance free and jumped up, aiming both lances at the crack, “Force Lance!” “Rock Punch!” Before Joustramon could unleash his attack, several stones shot up, slamming into him from below. He fell, landing hard on his stomach. I was worried about my friend until I saw his face. He was smiling! Joustramon stood, “Excellent. Now this is a fight!” he crossed his lances, “Jousting Rush!” He shot forward, raising his lances to slash, but KingGolemon punched him in the chest with his massive fist. Joustramon fell to his knees, clutching his chest and abdomen. “We weren’t supposed to have to do this anymore,” I said. “There were supposed to be new Guardians to fight these battles instead. I understand ShadowEmpressmon’s part in this, why she isn’t fighting this fight, but what about the other Guardians? Where are they? We’re risking our lives, and they’re nowhere to be found!” I was a little pissed. Though I had been saddened by the fact that we wouldn’t be needed anymore, the thought of another group being put in danger instead of us had been appealing. But when crunch time came, who was stuck doing all of the work? We were! I punched the ground, and looked up at KingGolemon. He started laughing. I glared angrily at the massive foe and demanded, “What are you laughing at?” “Don’t you get it?” KingGolemon said. “The reason that the new Guardians aren’t here fighting is that we are the new Guardians! We had a change of heart and decided to take our lives in a more profitable direction. I mean, conqueror sounds much more impressive than Guardian.” “No,” I said, “you have to be lying.” “Actually,” said Jeremy, “what he said makes sense. It explains why the Emperor Digimon follow ShadowEmpressmon, and why the Guardians never showed up.” “Yeah,” I said, “I know. But that doesn’t mean I have to want to believe this.” I stared down at the ground beneath my feet. “This fight is over,” I said softly, rising to my feet. “You and your allies have chosen to betray those who you were supposed to protect.” I looked up at KingGolemon and said firmly, “For that you will pay!” My aura flared again, and energy returned to Serpentramon and Joustramon. Joustramon stood, scraping his lance tips across the ground. Behind me, Serpentramon stood up as well, his legs shaking. He raised his arms and took aim. “I won’t give you the chance to attack me!” KingGolemon declared. He swung his fist and several stones flew toward me and my Digimon. Serpentramon grabbed under my arms and jumped, carrying me out of harm’s way. Then he landed and released me, setting me down closer to the others. Joustramon dodged the stones and rushed forward. He was about to slash when a stray stone caught him in the leg. He fell onto his side. Serpentramon ran around behind KingGolemon, jumped up, and fired several bursts of flame. KingGolemon deflected the flames with more stones. Then he spun and slammed Serpentramon with his mighty fist. Serpentramon crashed into the rocky ground and slid to a stop. KingGolemon turned back toward Joustramon, just in time to take a lance to the chest. He was barely phased. “We have to find a way to combine our powers somehow,” Serpentramon said, rising to his feet. “I’m open to ideas,” said Joustramon, jumping back to dodge an uppercut. “Just wait for my signal,” said Serpentramon, and he jumped up into the air above KingGolemon, flipped upside down, hung in the air, and fired a stream of flame down on his target, “Violent Eruption!” “Rahr!” KingGolemon cried. His rocky skin began to smoke and grow red hot. “Now,” said Serpentramon, “aim for the crack in his chest!” “What good will that do?” Joustramon asked. “The heat will have caused his molecular structure to expand,” I said, “making him more vulnerable to damage. Good thinking pal.” “Your plan will not succeed,” KingGolemon cried. “We’ll see,” said Joustramon. “Force Lance!” Waves of energy shot toward the still red hot KingGolemon. KingGolemon threw up a rock wall, but the energy waves tore the wall up and kept going. Then the waves tore into the cracked point, spreading it open. And they kept coming, assaulting the crack until they tore through KingGolemon’s chest and out his back. Joustramon ended his attack and lowered his lances. KingGolemon collapsed to his knees, and Serpentramon closed the panels in his arms and fell to the ground at Joustramon’s side. “Impossible,” KingGolemon said with his last breaths. “Beaten by inferior Digimon!” I walked up to KingGolemon as his body began to convert to data. “Normally I would feel sorry about killing a Digimon, no matter how evil,” I said, “but you are an exception.” I raised my Digiplayer and a beam shot from it, hitting KingGolemon and copying his data. “So how did you know about that heat thing?” Joustramon asked, just before he and Serpentramon reverted to their child states. “Oh,” Serpentmon replied, “I’ve sat through a lot of science classes.” “I’m lost,” Jen said. We were sitting on the ground near the lake shore. “If our crests were destroyed, then how were your Digimon able to Digivolve using your Crests?” “I don’t know,” I answered, “but it’s pretty lucky that they did.” I looked down at my Crests, at the cracks that had ended the lives of our high level Digimon forms, and apparently released a whole new form of Digivolution power altogether. “Our new enemies are the new guardians,” Sarah said. “I can’t believe it. It makes no sense.” “Not much about this game does,” I agreed, but in the back of my mind, I knew she was wrong. KingGolemon’s statements had made so much sense that they had to be true. “How are we supposed to beat ShadowEmpressmon like this though?” Jeremy asked. “Spirit Armor is powerful, but even if every one of our Digimon Spirit Armor Digivolved, their power still wouldn’t come close to her strength. As things stand now, without Protectormon, we don’t stand a chance.” “We’ll have to deal with that problem when we come to it,” I said, dismissing the issue. “No, John,” Jeremy said, “we need to figure this out now. These guys have corrupted almost every Digimon in the Digital World. Nearly the entire population was killed off in a massive war, meaning that the ones that remain are this world’s strongest. We’re fighting against an enemy as strong as Protectormon. This may be one that we just can’t win!” “We will win,” I snapped at my old friend. “You can’t be sure of that!” Jeremy cried. “We have to find a way to un-corrupt the wild Digimon, and our best chance of doing that is with Andromon’s help. Maybe he can use some of his tech to help the Digimon, and then maybe they’ll help us fight. We should head to the Citadel.” “We can’t. The longer we let the Emperor Digimon remain in control of things around here the more damage they’ll do. Soon the damage to the Digital World will be completely irreversible. We’ll find a way over the mountains and head to Dark Castle, just like ShadowEmpressmon said. We’ll kill her and everything will be fine.” Jeremy and I glared at each other for a few seconds, and then he said, “Fine.” “Alright,” I said quickly, anxious the regain control, “let’s spread out and look for a way through the cliff face.” “Why not just fly over?” Amanda asked. “The Digimon need to conserve their energy,” I answered. “We don’t know the full extent of the shroud’s power. So far the only Digimon that don’t seem at all effected by the shroud are the Spirit Armor Digimon, and neither of them can fly.” So my team and I spread out and searched, and in only fifteen minutes we found a gap in the rock wall. “Okay team, onward to new lands. We’ve never seen what’s on the other side of these mountains. We have to be careful.” I turned toward the gap, which we named Mountain Pass, and was about to take the first step in when a massive wind picked up out of nowhere, pushing a huge cloud into place directly over the lake, blocking out the sun. “You know,” I said, talking loudly to be heard over the wind, “call me pessimistic, but I don’t think this could possibly be a good thing.” [spoiler=Chapter 11] Drawn Into the Clouds;Attacked by QueenBirdramon! “We need to get out of this wind!” I yelled over the roaring gale. “No, you think!” said Jeremy, his voice dripping with sarcasm. “Looks like we’re gonna need BrauntoPhoenixmon to fly us out after all,” said Amanda. “Do it!” I cried. Amanda pulled her Digivice out of her pocket, but before she could initiate the Digivolution process we were lifted by a huge funnel cloud toward the cloud above. We blacked out. When I came to it was to a startling sight. My entire team, Digimon and human alike, had been drawn into the interior of the huge cloud, which was hallow, like giant dome-top stadium. Above us, sitting on a throne made of solid clouds was the tall winged female Digimon from back in the forest. At her sides, two of the large fiery phoenix-like, Birdramon hung in the air, their usually red feathers pale and grayish, their eyes glowing red. Below her, perched on the cloudy floor, were four more Birdramon. Behind them stood a Garudamon. “They just keep coming,” said Jen, her voice weary. “John, Serpentmon, BlackColtmon, we’ll handle them. You guys rest awhile.” “Can your Digimon Digivolve again yet?” I asked, worried. “I hope so,” said Jeremy. The Digimon lined up, their Human partners lining up behind them, Digivices ready. As one their voices rang out, “Initiate, Digivolution!” “Chickomon…” “Mechmon…” “Coltmon…” “Ponymon…” “TechnoPupmon…” “…Digivolve to…” “BrauntoPhoenixmon!” “Mechamon!” “BattleStaliamon!” “Fillimon!” “TechnoGarurumon!” “Expected,” said the Emperor Digimon. “Minions, attack them!” The six Birdramon and the Garudamon shot toward my team. TechnoGarurumon lunged and slashed, rending two Birdramon to shreds. BrauntoPhoenixmon incinerated another two. Mechamon sliced one Birdramon in half with his beams, tore through another, and punched Garudamon in the face. The large bird backhanded him, throwing him to the ground. But as she did, BattleStaliamon and Fillimon circled around behind her. The two horses flew in a circle until light trailed behind them, forming a ring. The ring tightened, slicing Garudamon in half with a touch. From there, the five Adult Digimon rushed toward the Emperor Digimon overhead. She laughed. “Five Adults of average power presume to defeat me, QueenBirdramon? Not possible. Go, Emerald Cyclone!” A sparkling green tornado rose up, spreading out and blowing the Digimon backward, slamming them into the solidified clouds below. “Not even the five of them together will be able to defeat an Emperor Digimon,” I said. I stood up, my Digimon at my side. “Initiate, Spirit Armor Digivolution!” A golden aura built around Serpentmon, and he changed, “Serpentmon, Spirit Armor Digivolve to, Serpentramon!” A blue aura built around BlackColtmon, and he changed, “BlackColtmon, Spirit Armor Digivolve to, Joustramon!” The Crests of Courage and Friendship burned on the armor of the respective Digimon. They jumped up toward QueenBirdramon and attacked. Joustramon aimed his lances. Serpentramon aimed his hidden arm panels. Both Digimon fired their attacks. QueenBirdramon called a massive tornado that held back the attacks and canceled them out. “I don’t get it,” I said to Jeremy, “I get that the Emperors are each strongest in their home environments, but back in the forest, they all seemed equally strong. So why does each Emperor seem stronger than the last?” “Actually, I was wondering the same thing,” said Jeremy, brandishing his Digicalculator, “and I think I have an answer. I’m reading some of KingGolemon’s and EmperorSeadramon’s data in QueenBirdramon.” Jeremy looked up from his Digicalculator and said, “I think each time we kill an Emperor Digimon, his or her data is distributed amongst the others through the Shadow Shroud.” “So in other words, each time we beat one we make the others stronger,” Jen said. I laughed. “Well then,” I said, “if QueenBirdramon is gonna use data from Emperor Digimon to fight, maybe we should too.” I pulled two Digichips from my pocket and plugged them into my Digiplayer. “Upload Digichips! Rock Fist and Aqua Dragon!” Water from the vapor in the clouds condensed around Joustramon’s arms like armor. He crossed his arms and called, “Aqua Dragon!” The water expanded into the shape of a dragon, slashed QueenBirdramon across the chest, and retracted, remaining, like it was part of Joustramon’s armor. QueenBirdramon was knocked from her throne, which faded away, spread her wings, and hung in the air. Before she could recover completely from the attack, two huge stones broke through the cloud floor, floating just next to Serpentramon’s arms. He punched toward QueenBirdramon and called “Rock Fist!” The two stones shot forward, slamming into the foe, and flew back, resting against the armor on Serpentramon’s arms. “Now the attack data of QueenBirdramon’s allies has been infused into the armor of my Digimon,” I said, “giving them an entire third attack option of a different element than what they can normally use.” My Digimon landed ahead of me, the new additions to their armor radiating auras that complimented their own. “The Aqua Dragon and Rock Fist attacks are most effective in their own elements,” QueenBirdramon gloated, “but here, I have the advantage!” She cried out and a massive wind picked up, pushing the thirteen of us back. Then the wind coalesced into seven relatively small but destructive Emerald Cyclones, hitting each of the Digimon with a different attack. The regular Adult Digimon de-Digivolved, but my Spirit Armor Digimon managed to hold their own. “Go get her boys!” I cried, and the two Spirit Armor Digimon rushed forward. “I won’t let you get close,” said QueenBirdramon. “Wind Missiles!” Orbs of incredibly condensed wind shot from QueenBirdramon’s wings in a massive barrage. Serpentramon and Joustramon avoided the attack and leapt up. “Violent Eruption!” “Force Lance!” The flame attack was released, and was accelerated and enhanced by the Force Lance attack. The two combined attacks flew toward their target. “Emerald Tornado!” called QueenBirdramon. Her tornado attack rose up, catching my Digimons’ attacks, absorbing them, and growing in strength. The tornado was now burning brightly. “I’m sorry,” said QueenBirdramon, “were these attacks yours? Here, let me give them back!” The tornado expanded, catching both Digimon with pumped up versions of their own attacks. They used their armor enhancements to help defend, but were still overpowered and sent flying. “Serpentramon and Joustramon together were only able to beat KingGolemon because he was slow enough to get hit,” said Jeremy, “but QueenBirdramon isn’t just stronger, she’s faster too.” “Then what are we gonna do?” Amanda asked, as my Digimon continued to narrowly evade QueenBirdramon’s attacks. “We can’t do anything,” said Jen. “Our Digimon aren’t strong enough as adults, and we’ve lost our Crests.” “What about Bio-Merge?” Jeremy asked. “No,” I said. “Bio-Merge doesn’t happen when you want it to. It just happens.” As we spoke, Amanda, unseen, signaled for Chickomon to follow her toward the battle. By the time we noticed, it was too late to stop her. Chickomon fired his attack at QueenBirdramon while she was distracted, hitting her in the back. Enraged, QueenBirdramon turned. “How dare you attack QueenBirdramon!” She cried. She fired a massive burst of wind at the reckless duo. “Manda! Get out!” I screamed. She and Chickomon started running, but it was too late. Chickomon jumped up and knocked Amanda out of the way, but the recoil threw him right in line with the oncoming attack. Amanda spun in midair and reached for her friend, and her broken Crest began to glow. Chickomon was surrounded by a burning aura that dispersed the wind, and he began to change, his form resembling MagnaBrauntomon’s, but shorter at only twelve feet. His aura burned violet, coalescing into blue-violet armor over his head and legs, gray armor padding over his chest and shoulders, curved blades positioned like wings on his back, and decorated armor over his fists and forearms. “Chickomon, Spirit Armor Digivolve to! Brauntramon!” “I’ll crush you before you can realize your power!” said QueenBirdramon. “Wind Missiles!” She fired a larger version of the concentrated wind attack at the new appearance. He didn’t even try to dodge. Instead he simply raised his massive armored fist. “Power Uppercut!” Brauntramon called. He punched up at the oncoming attack with an energized fist, sending the attack spiraling off course. Then he jumped up so that he was hanging just above QueenBirdramon, the crystals on his fists glowing. “Bronto Pummel,” he called, and he shot abruptly forward taking a swing at QueenBirdramon’s face. She spilled air from her wings, falling underneath the punch, and fired a Wind Missile into Brauntramon’s chest at point blank range. He was blasted upward in an arch, powerless. But he managed to distract QueenBirdramon long enough for Serpentramon and Joustramon to jump up behind her and attack. They fired their attacks, hitting her square in the back. She was hurt, but not defeated. “How dare you!” QueenBirdramon cried, enraged. She spun and unleashed a high speed barrage of Wind Missile attacks. Serpentramon fired a burst of flames, propelling himself out of the way, but Joustramon just hung there, wide open, unable to dodge. He was hit, and his armor became energy. He changed into BlackColtmon, and the energy returned to my Crest. BlackColtmon fell unconscious to the “ground” below. “Wow,” I said, “this could be really bad.” Last ones for awhile kiddies. I'm juggling two other fics right now besides this one, and i don't want to let them fall behind. New updates will resume in a month's time. Roughly. legendhiro
to all of my readers, the hiatus is still in place, but i wanted to let any of you who are still around know that i have things planned for this fic. not only will regular updates resume relatively soon, depending on how things end up, but i will also be issuing a redux of book one, and to a lesser extent book two, consisting of eight new chapters and various tidbits that add new details to the story of my characters' fight against Manipulamon. i plan to call it "Digimon Adventure ND". This will extend the first book to thirty chapters, and the first half of the series, books one and two, to a total of fifty-four chapters. this redux will be posted in a new thread with updates coming regularly, at once a week. i am also planning another story arch after the current one. the gist of it will be that the kids lose their Digimon to a wicked new villain who uses a device of his own design to draw the Digimon into the Digital World and trap them in a form of pure data. Using them in experiments, the villain hopes to gain access to the lingering data of Protectormon that is still a part of the Digital World. once he harnesses that power, he will be able to convert himself into a combination of his own demonic form and Protectormon holy form, making himself invincible. in the real world, john and the others come to realize that their Digimon are not just gone, but that their connection to them has been cut, deactivating their Digivices and cutting them off from the Digital World completely. They have new allies who still have the power to travel between the worlds, including Police Chief Thompson and two new allies met throughout the course of the current book. John, Sarah and Jeremy, along with Thompson and these two allies make their way to the Digital World to begin a quest for their Digimon friends.
