I know there is a lot of confusion and anger about the new rules about dA, so I want to try to help you guys find resources that you can use. I'm just going to start looking around dA and the web to find websites that provide images and graphics for free for people to use. I'll update this list as I find more.

Free stock website, you are not required to ask permission, credit, or link back to the artist so long as you are not making money from what you use or make.

http://celestia-brushstock.deviantart.com
this forum has permission to use anything on that account provided they include a link back the account. You don't need to ask first, just be sure to link back.

http://cheesecheese84.deviantart.com/
has offered any pictures on the account to be used

This is a journal on dA that is a list of artists who allow their work to be used. The only stipulations are to credit them and notify them of what you used it for.

http://proxyartist.deviantart.com/
All art on this account is free for use in cards. You do not have to ask permission but you MUST credit + link back to the account.

http://pyerflystock.deviantart.com
Be sure to read this persons rules before using ANY of the art please!

I've sent a note to the gallery moderator on dA who takes care of stock resources. I asked her to link me to artists who allow their work to be used with credit.
If anyone else knows of artists who for certain allow their work to be used please link to them in a reply and I'll add it.

I'll be sure to ask some people if they'll allow their work to be used.

Thank you very much.

Also, this isn't meant to be a self-plug, and I don't think you guys will have any use with it, but my own stock account is http://celestia-brushstock.deviantart.com
this forum has permission to use anything on that account provided they include a link back the account. You don't need to ask me first, just be sure to link back.

Other than my proxyartist account, I can safely say that most members here could get away with using Daz Studio and the free content that comes with it, as well as a lot of freebies available through the Freepository Forum, free.daz3d.com, and Renderosity.

There are also free store items from Daz3D on occassion.

(But hey, I've invested a lot of money in the program.)

Edit I forgot, you can play with my stock over at: http://pyerflystock.deviantart.com, please read my rules though!

http://flickr.com/creativecommons/ - "Many Flickr users have chosen to offer their work under a Creative Commons license, and you can browse or search through content under each type of license."

Try here for images as well. This page even has a nice little help bar for those who may not get how the CC licenses work.

I'm still trying to see if there are other artists on dA that'll join the Proxy Art Project, but so far no luck. I will have some new stuff up on proxyartist soon.

Here is a link to a journal on deviantart that has a whole bunch of links to stock artist pages on deviantart, just remember to follow the guidelines set by the artist (which tend to be lax).

http://lawrencededark.deviantart.com/journal/8061587/

This is a great link for stock artist on deviant art.

and here is a link to my stock art page:

If you ever are looking for anything in particular for your images, I can try and help you find a source or (if it is something simple) make a photo source for you.
