[spoiler=ECW - February 17, 2009]

ECW Opening

ecwboxnewRawBox4.jpg

The fireworks explode onto the stage as the crowd of fifteen-thousand, eight hundred and twenty-two people stand on their feet, anxiously awaiting the beginning of the show.

I wasn’t really sure what to expect from tonight’s show, other than an obvious appearance from Tyson Tomko, and the Money in the Bank Qualifying Match.

”Hello and welcome to E C W! This is Todd Grisham alongside Matt Striker, and we are live in Providence, Rhode Island!”

”And boy what a crowd! These fans can’t wait for the show to begin!”

”I can’t either! We have a huge show tonight, with lots of great matches!”

”That’s for sure! But no match will be greater than the Main Event! Evan “Air” Bourne takes on The World’s Strongest Man, Mark Henry in a Money in the Bank Qualifying Match!”

Match Card: Evan Bourne vs. Mark Henry [Money in the Bank Qualifier]

”That’s gonna be a great one!”

Tyson Tomko theme

Like I said earlier, an obvious appearance from Tyson Tomko. Although, I have to admit, the match was a bit better than I had originally expected it to be. It seems like Tomko may have found a good place to improve here on ECW.

The former “Problem Solver” receives a mainly negative reaction, but nowhere near as negative as those like Edge and Randy Orton receive, as he makes his way to the ring.

Ricky Ortiz theme

It was nice to see Ortiz make a return to the ring after a couple of months of absence. He receives a pretty warm reaction from the crowd.

First Match: Tyson Tomko vs. Ricky Ortiz

Match: This partially decent match gets off to a bad start for Ortiz who tries to take Tomko down, but runs right into a powerful Clothesline. Tomko, wasting little time, tries for a cover, but realizes it’s way too early on when Ortiz scores a quick kickout at one. Ortiz off the ropes, tries for a Shoulder Block, but to no avail as Tomko takes him down with a Shoulder Block of his own, displaying a great amount of sheer force.

”That man Tyson Tomko is pure strength, Todd. If that move didn’t convince you, then I don’t know what will.”

”Hey, I’m not arguin’ with you. Tomko just overwhelmed Ortiz with that Shoulder Block, and you can be sure Ortiz will be feeling that pain for a while.”

Tomko brings Ortiz to his feet and throws him into the corner. Some Elbows to the side of the head by Tomko, followed by a Corner Clothesline, knocking Ortiz down. Tomko drives a knee into Ortiz’s chest, and holds it there, applying pressure. The referee counts to four, and Tomko breaks the

“hold”. Tomko goes for a Vertical Suplex, but Ortiz counters into a Snap Suplex. Ortiz takes Tomko down with a Forearm Smash as he begins to gain momentum. Ortiz off the ropes! Nails Tomko with a 360 Spinning Forearm Smash! Ortiz looks around the arena as the fans, and makes an ‘O’ Symbol above his head with his hands. Ortiz off the ropes again, goes for The Big ‘O’; can he connect? No! As Tomko moves out of the way.

”Ouch. That’s not good for Ortiz. He was seconds away from winning, but Tomko managed to avoid the move.”

”That Big ‘O’ ends matches, but unfortunately for Ortiz, it won’t be ending this one.”

Ortiz tries for a Spinebuster, but Tomko connects with some Blows to the back. Ortiz bounces off the ropes and pays for it with a mouthful of boot from Tomko, who drives Ortiz to the mat with a Big Boot. It’s obviously over now, as Tomko drops Ortiz with a Sitout Torture Rack Neckbreaker for the victory.

Winner: Tyson Tomko

”An impressive victory for Tyson Tomko, who, I’m sure, will have no problem establishing himself as a superstar here in ECW.”

”Impressive indeed. If Tomko keeps this up, it won’t be long before he’s on the path to the ECW Championship.”

”Still to come tonight, Evan Bourne takes on Mark Henry in a Money in the Bank Qualifying Match!”

Match Card: Evan Bourne vs. Mark Henry [Money in the Bank Qualifier]

Commercial break

We’re back live with Dustin Delta standing in Theodore Long’s office. Delta seems to be smiling.

“Listen, “Mr. Long”. It’s about time that my potential as a superstar get realized.”

“What exactly do ya mean, playa?”

“You know exactly what I mean. The ECW Championship. Kurt Angle isn’t here, Jack Swagger has lost god knows how many matches, The Big Show lost his chance two weeks ago, and The Undertaker is now a Raw Superstar. That means I’m next in line for a Title Match.”

“Now hang on a second, playa. Last I checked, The Undertaker is still signed to an ECW Contract. Despite the fact that he has been hinting interest in the World Heavyweight Championship, he is still an ECW Superstar. And until he requests a move to the Raw Brand, I will treat him as such. That being said, I think you’re right. I think it is about time your potential got realized. So I tell ya what I’m gonna do. In two weeks, I’ll give you a shot against Chris Jericho’s ECW Championship. All ya gotta do is defeat The Undertaker next week on ECW!”

A huge pop from that comment, most likely for the mentioning of The Undertaker, but I couldn’t be sure. Delta looks around hesitantly, as if trying to figure out what to say.

“You know what? Fine. I’m not going to whine and complain about it. If you want me to face The Undertaker next week, I will. And guess what? I’m going to defeat him and reclaim my ECW Championship.”

”Has Delta gone off the deep end? He seems too confident for someone that is just a week away from squaring off against The Undertaker.”

”Let’s not forget that Delta is a former ECW Champion, Matt.”

”Former ECW Champion or not, you can’t take The Undertaker down without a problem. That’s a proven fact.”

”I guess you’re right.”

Finlay theme

Up next we get to see a match that I had completely forgotten about. Which is possibly due to the fact that the match was supposed to take place last week, but was delayed a week. That match being the Tag Team Match for the ECW Tag Team Championships between Finlay, Slash, and Miz and Morrison.

The Fighting Irishman, his son Hornswoggle, and Slash enter the arena to a decent pop. Finlay high-fives some fans as they walk to the ring, and Hornswoggle throws an inflatable hammer into the crowd.

”We’re going to take a quick commercial break, but when we return, we will see Finlay and Slash team up to take on John Morrison and Dolph Ziggler for the ECW Tag Team Championships!”

Commercial break

Next Tuesday, on a huge edition of ECW, former ECW Champion Dustin Delta faces his biggest challenge yet..The Undertaker. Can Delta defeat The Deadman and earn himself an ECW Title Match, or will Delta join the list of countless victims “laid to rest” by The Undertaker?

ECW! Live! Only on Sci-Fi!

John Morrison theme

The former World Tag Team Champions, John Morrison and Dolph Ziggler, enter the arena to boos. They taunt on the ramp, seemingly admiring themselves, before walking to the ring.

Inside the ring, the Referee holds up the ECW Tag Team Championship Belts, which look like silver versions of the World Tag Team Championships, with some modifications.

”Welcome back to ECW and we are about to witness a match for the ECW Tag Team Championships.”

”These titles were created a few months ago, but it took a while for The WWE Board of Directors to make them official WWE Titles. Now, we’re all ready to go, and the titles will be up for grabs momentarily.”

Second Match: Finlay & Slash vs. John Morrison & Dolph Ziggler [ECW Tag Team Championship Match]

Match: Slash starts things off with Morrison. The two lock-up in the center of the ring, and Morrison gets the better of the situation after nailing Slash with a Kick to the chest. Morrison connects with a few Back Elbows to the neck before applying a Front Headlock. Slash quickly powers out and hits a Fisherman Suplex Pin, but Morrison gets the shoulder up at two. A Clothesline by Slash takes Morrison to the mat! Slash tries for another cover, but again, Morrison kicks out! Slash hits a Scoop Slam! Slash to the top rope, goes for a Diving Elbow Drop, but Morrison moves out of the way!

”That had to hurt! Slash crashing into the mat at full force after Morrison moved out of the way.”

”Sometimes taking a big risk isn’t a good idea, but sometimes it pays off.”

Morrison crawls to his corner and makes the Tag to Ziggler. Slash, needing to make a Tag to Finlay, attempts to do so, but fails as Ziggler Drops an elbow on his back and pulls him toward the opposite corner. Ziggler hits Slash with some Blows to the back of the head before applying a Crossface-like hold. Finlay and the crowd begin to clap in support of Slash, who seemingly gains momentum from it, as he is able to grab the bottom rope at the last second, forcing Ziggler to break the hold. Ziggler hits Slash with a Suplex and rolls into the cover, but Slash kicks out at two. Both superstars get to their feet, and Slash goes for a Flying Forearm. Ziggler ducks it, jumps on the ropes, hits a Spingboard Inziguri, and covers Slash to win the ECW Tag Team Titles.

Winners [and the new ECW Tag Team Champions]: John Morrison & Dolph Ziggler

”Talk about impressive! Dolph Ziggler completely reversed the flow of momentum and nailed Slash with a Springboard Inziguri to win his second round of WWE Gold!”

”More often than not, you’re wrong, Todd. However, not this time. If I could choose one word to describe Dolph Ziggler, it would be impressive. Not only is Ziggler still undefeated, he’s held Championship Gold twice in less than three months. Whether it be Singles Competition, or Tag Competition, Ziggler never fails to impress.”

Commercial break

After falling on hard times, The Heartbreak Kid Shawn Michaels began using Illegal Substances. Many times events like this have occurred in the WWE, and the punishment is always severe.

This Friday on Smackdown, WWE Executive Vice-President Shane McMahon will hold “Shawn Michaels’ Judgment Day”. What will happen to The Heartbreak Kid?

Smackdown! This Friday at 8:00 PM on MyNetworkTV!

”According to what we’ve just witnessed, judgment will be passed on Shawn Michaels this Friday on Smackdown regarding his recent use of Illegal Drugs.”

”As we know, at No Way Out, Shawn Michaels explained his actions as of late, informing the WWE Universe that he had fallen on hard times, and had begun using Steroids. According to Michaels, Randy Orton had found this out and was using them and used it to “blackmail” Michaels into helping him gain the World Heavyweight Championship.”

”Well, we’re going to find out exactly what reprecussions Shawn Michaels will suffer for his actions. And that’s going to happen on Smackdown!”

Shawn Michaels’ Judgment Day [smackdown]

Evan Bourne theme

We’re followed up with a historic Main Event en route to Wrestlemania 25 as Evan Bourne takes on The World’s Strongest Man, Mark Henry, with the winner going on to compete in the Money in the Bank Ladder Match at Wrestlemania 25.

Bourne enters the arena to a huge pop; easily the biggest of the night. He high-fives a bunch of fans as he walks down the ramp and before he enters the ring.

I’ll be honest, I was rooting for Bourne, as he’s never competed at Wrestlemania before, and with high-flying skills like Bourne’s, Money in the Bank is the way to go.

Mark Henry theme

The World’s Strongest Man, Mark Henry, makes his way to the ring, ready to fight.

Main Event Match: Evan Bourne vs. Mark Henry [Money in the Bank Qualifier]

Match: Bourne hits Henry with a Dropkick, but The World’s Strongest Man doesn’t budge. Bourne connects with another Dropkick, but again, it’s to no avail, as Henry mantains his balance. Bourne tries a Flying Clothesline, but Henry grabs him and hits a Sidewalk Slam. Henry goes for a cover, but Bourne kicks out at one. Henry stands up and hits a Standing Knee Drop on Bourne. While many thought this could spell the end, it didn’t, as Bourne once again managed to kick out of a pinfall attempt by Henry.

”Evan Bourne is determined to go to Wrestlemania. Nothing Mark Henry does is going to get in his way.”

”You can only take so much from Mark Henry before you lose, Matt.”

Henry gets Bourne to his feet and Irish Whips him into the corner. Bourne goes face-first into the turnbuckle and collapses to the mat. Henry walks over to him before picking him up, grabbing him by the throat, and throwing him into the turnbuckle. Henry hits Bourne with some Shoulder Thrusts. Henry backs up, and goes for a Stinger Splash, but Bourne moves out of the way. Henry runs into the turnbuckle! Bourne gets the Schoolboy Pin! 1! 2! Can he do it? No! Henry gets the shoulder up!

”Wow! How close was that?”

”That was incredibly close! I thought that was going to be it for sure!”

Henry takes Bourne down with a Forearm Smash. Henry bounces off the ropes, and hits Bourne with a Big Splash! This is gonna do it! Henry’s got the cover! 1! 2! Bourne kicks out! Henry, looking frustrated, gets up. He exits the ring and gets a steel chair. The Referee takes it from him. While the Referee is removing the chair from the ring, Henry removes the top turnbuckle pad. He places Bourne in the corner and picks him up for a Snake Eyes-like move. Bourne, seconds away from meeting his demise, slides down and Dropkicks Henry right into the turnbuckle, causing Henry’s head to hit the exposed steel.

”No way! Henry’s plan backfired!”

”Mark Henry just got a face-full of steel!”

”I guess Bourne really knows how to steel the show!”

”Ha ha. Very funny. Not.”

Bourne climbs to the top rope! Bourne takes it to the air! Can he connect? Yes! Shooting Star Press! Bourne’s got the cover! 1! 2! 3! Bourne’s going to Wrestlemania!

Winner: Evan Bourne

”What a great match! Evan Bourne overcame the odds and earned himself a spot at Wrestlemania!”

”We’ll see you next week here on ECW! Have a good ni..”

Kurt Angle theme

”Wait a minute! What’s this?”

”Apparently it’s Kurt Angle, Todd!”

”I thought Kurt Angle was injured at the hands of Dustin Delta!”

The fans stand on their feet and applaud as ECW’s Olympic Hero enters the arena, microphone in hand. This was a surprise to me, too, as I didn’t expect an appearance from Angle. He makes his way to the ring, high-fiving some fans along the way.

“Look, I’m gonna make this short and sweet. Last night on Raw, all of you were informed that I had a “run-in” with Dustin Delta, and that I was unable to compete. Well, allow me to explain what happened a little more clearly. You see, last night, I was in my locker room, getting ready to go out and compete, when all of the sudden, I was unable to open the door. Yes, that’s right, Dustin Delta barricaded my door so that I couldn’t exit the locker room. Simply put, I’m perfectly fine, and I’m in the mood to kick some a*s. Now, for those of you that were unable to catch Raw last night, let’s take a look at the events that transpired when the Main Event was supposed to take place.”

Kurt Angle theme

The fans look toward the TitanTron, but no signs of Angle. The music stops playing.

”What the?”

”What’s going on? Where’s Kurt Angle?”

Kurt Angle theme

Again the theme plays, but again no sign of Angle. Suddenly, Dustin Delta enters the arena with a microphone.

“I’m sorry, were you all expecting Kurt Angle? He can’t be here right now. You see, Kurt Angle and I had a bit of a falling out earlier, and let’s just say, I don’t think he’ll be able to compete for a couple of weeks.”

”What is Delta talking about? A falling out?”

”Hopefully he’s going to explain it to us.”

Jericho exits the ring and begins walking toward Delta.

“Woah man, chill out. Look, I don’t know what..”

Jericho begins running toward Delta, and Delta runs to the back. Jericho stops at the top of the ramp, and turns around to walk back to the ring. Delta runs out from the back and hits Jericho in the back of the head with the microphone. Delta throws Jericho head-first into the TitanTron wall(?) before throwing him off of the ramp, sending him crashing into a table below. I’m guessing this means we won’t be having a Main Event Match tonight.

“So, long story short, Dustin Delta hit the ECW Champion with a cheap shot and threw him off of the ramp. Jericho and I are not the best of friends, but we respect each other, and I gotta say, I’m not too happy about what Dustin Delta pulled this Monday on Raw.”

Dustin Delta theme

Delta receives major heat as he enters the arena and begins talking as he makes his way to the ring.

“Woah woah woah hold on a second Kurt. You’re not too happy about what I did? Since when should I be concerned about your happiness? You see Kurt, I don’t like you, I don’t respect you, and quite honestly, I’d like nothing more than to beat the living crap out of you.”

“Oh really now? Is that so?”

“Yeah!”

“If that’s the case, then why is it that twice now I’ve taken you out with Angle Slams, and all you can do is lock me in my own locker room?”

“I don’t need to answer to you, Kurt. You’re past your prime. I’m the face of extreme. I am a former ECW Champion! I am the definition of extreme! You saw what I did to Chris Jericho last night! If that’s not extreme, then I don’t know what is!”

“On second thought, you’re right. You are extreme. You’re far more extreme than I am. As a matter of fact, I know a guy that’s pretty extreme himself. He’s a former ECW Champion in his own right, and he could sure as h*ll take you down.”

Angle motions toward the TitanTron, and Delta turns to look at the TitanTron with his back to Angle.

Big Show theme

Huge ovation for The World’s Largest Athlete as he enters the arena. Delta stares at Show, slightly surprised. Angle quickly takes advantage of the distraction and tries to hit Delta with an Angle Slam, but Delta blocks the move and slides down Kurt’s back, pushing him toward Big Show, who has just entered the ring. To the surprise of everyone, Big Show nails Angle with a Big Boot. Delta smiles and looks at Big Show. The two of them shake hands. Big Show picks up Angle and hits him with a Chokeslam before Delta locks in a Crucifix Hold, choking Angle out. Delta taunts in the ring with Big Show.

A gong sounds and the arena goes pitch black. Once again, a gong sounds and the lights come back on. Delta turns around, expecting The Undertaker to be in the ring, but The Deadman isn’t there. Show and Delta look around, growing somewhat worried. The fans begin to cheer wildly as Delta notices that The Deadman is standing in the crowd, near the top row/skybox area. He raises his arms in the air and a bolt of lightning strikes the middle of the ring, missing Delta by just inches. The former ECW Champion rushes out of the ring, with Big Show right behind him. As Delta runs up the ramp, another lightning bolt strikes, but this time, on the stage. A wall of flames begins to rise where the second lightning bolt struck as Delta puts his hands to his head, panicking. They try to walk back to the ring, but a bolt of lightning strikes the end of the ramp, and another wall of flames appears, trapping the two. Delta sits down in the ramp and grasps his head in what is easily pure fear. Big Show stands near him, obviously worried as well. A great ending to a great show.

Smackdown Opening

Smackdown1Box5SmackdownTonight.jpg

Smackdown1Box7SmackdownTonight.jpg

Commercial break

Kofi Kingston theme

We return to the show, and it looks like we’re going to see some Six-Man Tag Team Action. I’ll be honest, I wasn’t so fond of Booker T and The Hurricane becoming the WWE Tag Team Champions, but they haven’t been that bad as Champions. Only time will tell, I guess.

Kofi enters the arena to a pretty big ovation.

”Fresh off a victory over Chavo Guerrero last week on Smackdown, Kofi Kingston is rollin’.”

The Toronto crowd goes wild as the WWE Tag Team Champions, Booker T and The Hurricane, enter the arena. They high-five some fans as they make their way to the ring.

”I think these guys make great Tag Champs, J.R.!”

”They’ve done well so far, Tazz. Booker T was able to emerge victorious in a hard-fought Street Fight Match with Lawrence Davidson this past Sunday at No Way Out.”

Lawrence Davidson theme

A negative reaction is given to Mr. McMahon’s friend from the gym, who enters the arena with an angry look on his face. He is followed by Kylarnartia and Sammy Lee, both of whom seem ready to fight. I think Kylarnartia is a really impressive superstar so far. I can see him winning Championship Gold sometime soon.

Second Match: Kofi Kingston, Booker T, & The Hurricane vs. Lawrence Davidson, Kylarnartia, & Sammy Lee

Match:

Vladimir Kozlov theme

For once, I wasn’t really surprised. I had expected Kozlov to make some sort of appearance after he was humiliated by Triple H last week on Smackdown, and I guess this was the time he chose to do so. He gets huge heat from the fans, which I guess for him, is a good thing, because it means he’s doing his job well.

”Wait a minute; what’s Kozlov doing out here?”

”I got no clue, J.R., but I know one thing; I’m not gonna go ask him.”

Kozlov makes his way to the ring, and enters it. Davidson, Kylarnartia, and Sammy Lee exit it. Booker T, Kofi Kingston, and The Hurricane back up a little bit, and look at Kozlov, partially confused. Booker T goes to hit Kozlov with a Right Hand, but Kozlov ducks and throws him out of the ring.

Kozlov nails Hurricane with a Battering Ram Headbutt and throws him out of the ring with a Military Press Slam. Kofi scores a lucky shot, though, and nails Kozlov with Trouble in Paradise when he turns around, flat-out knocking Kozlov’s lights out to a huge ovation.

”Good lord what a Kick!”

”Kofi just caught Kozlov square in the head! I don’t think Kozlov saw that comin’!”

Kofi climbs to the top turnbuckle and taunts for the fans before walking to the back. It’s obvious that Tag Team Match won’t be taking place this evening.

Commercial break

Eve Torres is standing in the back with Triple H.

“Good evening everyone. I’m Eve Torres, and I’m standing here with the former WWE Champion, Triple H! Triple H, a little while ago, you were pinned by CM Punk, and therefore lost the WWE Championship. Your thoughts?”

“Eve, I’ve been in a lot of matches in my career. But I gotta say; that Fatal-Four Way Match was one of the most exciting, and painful matches I’ve ever participated in. CM Punk won, congratulations to him, but I have a Rematch Clause. And I will be cashing it in before Wrestlemania 25. As a matter of fact, I’ll be cashing it in next week on Smackdown!”

Carlito theme

Out in the arena, Carlito makes his way to the ring, wearing a brace around his neck. For those of you that don’t remember, Carlito was injured last week in his match against Big Daddy V.

”What a huge announcement from The Game! He’s going to be cashing in his Rematch Clause right here on Smackdown in one week!”

”Let’s take a look at what happened last week when Carlito went one-on-one with Big Daddy V.”

Carlito Dropkicks Big Daddy V with great force, and manages to take The 500-Pound Mastadon off his feet. Carlito goes to the top rope. Big Daddy V gets to his feet, and Carlito goes for a Missle Dropkick. In a sheer display of power, Big Daddy V grabs a mid-air Carlito's legs and slams him into the mat.

"Oh my god! Did you see that?"

"I am in complete disbelief right now. The power of that man has always been great in my eyes, but after witnessing that move, I'm wondering if anyone can stop The 500-Pound Mastadon."

Carlito grabs the back of his neck in pain, leaving many to wonder if he was injured from the move.

"J.R., is Carlito ok? It looks like that move might have seriously damaged his neck."

A replay of the move is shown, then again in slow-motion. It is apparent that Carlito's neck seemingly took the most pressure from the move.

"Something's gotta be wrong with Carlito. You can't land like that and not expect to take some kind of pain."

Big Daddy V pins Carlito with ease and exits the ring as Medics make their way down to the ring. Carlito is placed on a stretcher and wheeled to the back.

“How’s it going Toronto?!”

“Carlito” chants begin to fill the arena as the former WWE Tag Team Champion looks around the arena, smiling.

“As you just saw, Carlito suffered an injury last week in his match against Big Daddy V. That’s not cool. Now, the injury wasn’t severe, so I think I’ll be able to compete at Wrestlemania 25. Just because I’m injured, though, doesn’t mean I’m not going to be here on Smackdown each and every week! Now, moving on, I want Big Daddy V to come down to this ring right now so I can challenge him to a match right here, right now!”

”What is Carlito thinking?”

”He’s injured, yet he’s calling out Big Daddy V of all people.”

Santino Marella theme

“Excusea me! Who do you a think you are, Carlito? I am Santino Marella, and I..”

“Save it Santino we all know who you are. You’re a lousy third-rate superstar that’s only won one match since coming over to Smackdown!”

The fans begin to cheer as Santino seemingly gets angry.

“You think you’re a so funny! Well you’re a not! Santino Marella is much a better than you!”

“Better than me? That’s a good one, Santino.”

Santino’s frustration continues to build as Carlito mocks the former Intercontinental Champion. This whole “Carlito being around while injured” storyline should be pretty interesting.

“You know what?” Santino says, angrily taking off his jacket and walking down to the ring. “If you think you’re a so tough, why don’t you and I have a match right now? Oh wait, you can’t. You’re injured.”

“Hold on; Carlito has a solution. You see, Santino, injury or not, I can still defeat you.”

Carlito receives a huge pop for that statement as Santino continues to show signs of frustration. “Carlito” chants begin to fill the arena.

“Fine, if you want a match, I’ll a give you one! Get a Referee out here!”

Santino motions toward the back and a Referee runs down to the ring.

Third Match: Carlito vs. Santino Marella

Match: Santino goes for a Clothesline, but Carlito ducks it. Santino turns around and Carlito nails him with a Dropkick, sending him out of the ring. Santino quickly gets to his feet and paces around the outside of the ring, looking for a good way to get back into the ring. He starts to run into the ring, but stops, then runs to the right and enters the ring. Carlito goes for a Right Hand, but Santino trips him, and Carlito goes face-first into the second turnbuckle. Santino stands up and walks to the other side of the ring to recover. Carlito gets to his feet, and Santino goes for a Corner Clothesline. Carlito ducks it, gets a Schoolboy Pin, 1..2..but Santino kicks out. Both superstars get to their feet! Santino goes for a Left Hand! Carlito blocks it! Connects with the Complete Shot! Cover! 1! 2! Kick-out!

”Talk about callin’ it close!”

”I gotta say, J.R., I’m impressed with Carlito. He’s injured, and yet he’s still managing to hold his own here.”

”Yes, but for how long can he keep that up?”

Both superstars get to their feet. Santino with the Snapmare Toss, Knee to the back, oh and he locks in a Reverse Chinlock. How much more can Carlito take? Especially when Santino’s applying pressure to his neck, the area where he suffered an injury. Carlito starts to get to his feet! Elbows to the chest..oh! Santino connects with a DDT. Cover! 1! 2! Kick-out! Carlito manages to get the shoulder up again.

Santino gets Carlito to his feet. Santino off the ropes, goes for a Flashback..Carlito hits a Reverse Elbow! Carlito with a Clothesline! And another Clothesline! Carlito’s got momentum! Santino goes for a Clothesine of his own! Carlito turns around! Backstabber! Cover! 1! 2! 3! And Carlito wins it!

Winner: Carlito

”What a win for Carlito! Even with a neck injury, he managed to pick up the victory!”

”That’s for sure! I noticed that Carlito didn’t use any aerial moves in this match like he usually does, but that’s probably because of his injury! Still, though, a big victory for Carlito!”

”Well, still to come tonight, Shawn Michaels’ Judgment Day. What will happen to The Heartbreak Kid?”

Smackdown1Box2SmackdownTonight.jpg

”Yeah..but comin’ up next, R Truth battles Ezekiel Jackson! That one should be great!”

Smackdown1Box4SmackdownTonight.jpg

Commercial break

R Truth theme

We’re back, with one match left until the Shawn Michaels’ Judgment Day Segment. I’ve been pretty excited about this one, to be honest. Both of these superstars are excellent athletes, and I’m sure they’ll put on a great show.

R Truth makes his way to the crowd to tons of cheers. He high-fives some fans as he “skips” and “jumps” his way to the ring.

Ezekiel Jackson theme

Not much heat for this guy, really. He’s definitely got what it takes to be a top heel, but he hasn’t been around long enough to do so. It’s a shame because he’s one of the biggest guys they’ve got on Smackdown right now.

Main Event Match: R Truth vs. Ezekiel Jackson

Match: Truth gets right into the action with some Right Hands and Left Hands to Jackson, who leans back against the ropes, but doesn’t fall down. Truth goes for a Clothesline, but Jackson rebounds with a Clothesline of his own. The fans boo as he looks around the arena. Jackson hits a Standing Elbow Drop on Truth. Jackson tries for the cover, but Truth gets the shoulder up at one. Quick pick-up by Jackson, who hits Truth with a Scoop Slam, and tries for another cover, but to no avail.

Jackson Irish Whips Truth into the corner. Jackson puts Truth on the turnbuckle, and tries for a Superplex, but Truth hits him with some Right Hands to the chest, knocking him down to the mat. Truth goes for a Diving Leg Drop! Connects! 1! 2! Kick-out! The fans cheer as R Truth gets to his feet and looks around the arena. He picks up Jackson and nails him with some Right Hands, followed by bouncing off the ropes and hitting him with a Flying Shoulder Block. Jackson gets right up, and Truth hits him with a 360 Clothesline! Jackson gets to his knees! Truth against the ropes, goes for the Axe Kick! Jackson moves out of the way! Truth turns around! Jackson goes for the Chokeslam, but Truth counters into an explosive DDT! Cover by Truth! 1! 2! Oh so close!

”What an amazing counter! R Truth turned that Chokeslam into a DDT, and boy was it impressive!”

”I think Ezekiel Jackson’s on dream street right now, J.R.!”

”Whichever man can get to his feet first will have the advantage here!”

Both superstars slowly get to their feet as the Referee’s count reaches four. They trade Blows, with neither of them getting an upper hand. Truth bounces off the ropes, goes for a Clothesline..oh and Jackson nails him with a Big Boot! Cover! This is gonna do it! 1! 2! Thr..kickout! The fans boo as Jackson gets to his feet and picks up R Truth. Truth Irish Whips Jackson into the corner! Goes for a Corner Clothesline! Oh and Jackson moves out of the way! A dazed Truth turns around, Jackson goe s for a Chokeslam again, but again Truth stops it! Truth with some Backhand Chops! Truth goes for a Suplex! Jackson counters into a Facebuster Suplex! The fans boo as Truth slowly gets to his feet and Jackson picks him up before driving him into the mat with a thunderous Chokeslam. Cover..1..2..3..and Jackson wins the match.

Winner: Ezekiel Jackson

Talk about a great match. It was easily the best match of the night, aside from the Fatal-Four-Way. Both Truth and Jackson put on a great show.

”What a match! Ezekiel Jackson proves dominant once again!”

”Can anybody stop this guy?!”

”Who knows, Tazz? Still to come tonight, Shawn Michaels’ Judgment Day! What will be the fate of The Heart Break Kid?”

Commercial break

After weeks of waiting, Umaga makes his return to the ring next week on Smackdown.

Eve Torres is standing in the back with Scotty Goldman.

“Ladies and gentlemen please welcome my guest at this time, Scotty Goldman.”

Scotty receives a nice pop.

“Thanks, Eve. Now, I requested this interview because I have a challenge to make. See, Lawrence Davidson and I have some unfinished business, if you will. Last week, I defeated him, and the week before that, he defeated me. That means we need to have a Tiebreaker Match. So Lawrence Davidson, I’m challenging you to a match next week on Smackdown! And I’d like that match to be fought under Extreme Rules!”

”Woah! What a challenge!”

”Is Goldman crazy? Challenging Lawrence Davidson to an Extreme Rules Match?!”

Shawn Michaels theme

It seems J.R. was wrong, and that we’re actually going to get things started with Shawn Michaels. We know that the fans, and the superstars themselves, have wanted answers from Shawn Michaels for weeks, but he hasn’t given them anything.

HBK enters the arena to a flurry of boos. He doesn’t do his usual kneeling/praying/fireworks scene. Instead, he just walks to the ring, seemingly emotionless. The Augusta crowd continues to boo him as he gets a microphone.

”Contrary to what Jim Ross said moments ago, it seems like we’re going to start things off with The Heart Break Kid himself, Shawn Michaels. And Shawn Michaels has become a different man as of late.”

”Yes. He has been assaulting superstars, and seemingly assisting Randy Orton. I think everybody deserves answers.”

“Alright, look. I’m not happy about having to come out here and do this, but I’m not happy in the slightest about my actions as of late. Now I understand that all of you are mad at me, as it is with good reason. I’m not proud of what I had to do, but I did it to protect myself.”

”To protect himself? What is Shawn talking about?”

”I have no idea, King. I’m pretty sure Shawn is going to explain it, though.”

“You see, a couple of weeks ago, I had returned, but I was staying backstage, because I wasn’t medically cleared to wrestle yet. During this time, and a little before that, I had become accustomed to using, say, illegal substances. In other words, I had started using steroids.”

The crowd continues to boo Michaels, who is obviously struggling emotionally as he speaks.

“Now, Randy Orton had somehow discovered this. He came to me and told me that unless I helped him become the World Heavyweight Champion, he was going to report me to the authorities.”

”Wait a minute? So Orton was blackmailing Shawn Michaels?”

”It looks that way. That’s just despicable.”

”Indeed it is. But you know Randy Orton; he’ll do whatever it takes to get what he wants.”

“But you know what? I’m tired of having to suffer by doing whatever it is Randy Orton wants me to do. I’m Shawn Michaels! I’m The Heartbreak Kid! I’m nobody’s b*tch!”

Suddenly, “HBK” chants are started, and they quickly fill the arena as the crowd shows their support for Michaels, who has obviously been going through a troubled time as of late.

“I made the decision to stop using the substances after Randy Orton found out, but that didn’t stop him. He still threatened to report me. But now I’ve got but one thing to say. Randy! Report me if you want to! H*ll, I’ll report myself!”

Michaels furiously unbuttons his shirt, takes it off, and throws it on the ground. He gets right up on the ropes.

“Randy! I’ve had enough of your crap! Why don’t you get out here right now so I can kick your teeth down your throat!”

”It seems Shawn Michaels has reached a breaking point of sorts. He couldn’t handle “working”, if you will, for Randy Orton anymore!”

”Good for Shawn! I hope Randy Orton gets what’s coming to him tonight!”

The crowd, and Michaels, turn their attention toward the TitanTron, awaiting Randy Orton’s arrival.

The lights go out, and the arena becomes pitch black. Cheering can be heard in the background. A spotlight appears on the stage, and The Deadman himself, not Big Evil, is standing on the stage. He stares at HBK, and doesn’t move his eyes for a second. He rolls his eyes back, and a bolt of lightning strikes the ring post. Shawn Michaels stands in the ring, wide-eyed, staring into the face of what could very soon be his future.

”Oh my! What in the world have we just witnessed, King?”

”I think we witnessed the sending of a message. And I can assure you. That message was received.”

Lawrence Davidson calls out Booker T. He says that they have some unfinished business that needs to be taken care of. Eric Bischoff comes out and tells Davidson that instead of facing Booker T tonight, he will face him this Sunday at No Way Out in a Street Fight.

This brings out Scotty Goldman, who challenges Lawrence Davidson to a rematch.

Davidson dominates most of the match, until Booker T comes out and provides a distraction, allowing Scotty Goldman to hit a Backslide Pin and win the match.

The 5-Time WCW Champion enters the arena. The fans cheer as he jumps up on the ramp and his pyro explodes. He high-fives some fans as he makes his way to the ring.

”After weeks of waiting, the WWE Universe received answers from Shawn Michaels regarding his recent behavior. After that, Shawn Michaels received a visit from The Undertaker. What does all this mean?”

”Ladies and gentlemen, we’ll be right back. Up next, Shawn Michaels’ Judgment Day.”

Commercial break

“Ladies and gentlemen, please welcome the Executive Vice-President of the Board of Directors, Shane McMahon!”

Shane McMahon comes out to the arena with no music. He walks to the ring, and the fans are basically silent. They definitely got this segment off to a good start, having Shane come out without the music. It makes it more of a serious situation if you ask me. I’m interested to see where this storyline goes.

Shane enters the ring and gets a microphone. He’s not smiling like usual.

“As we learned at No Way Out, Shawn Michaels has fallen onto some hard times, if you will. Michaels admitted to taking illegal drugs, otherwise known as steroids. He stated that Randy Orton had found out about this, and was using it to blackmail him. Now, regardless of the circumstances, what Shawn Michaels did was in violation of World Wrestling Entertainment’s Wellness Policy.”

The fans boo in response to this. The announcers say nothing, and it’s quite obvious that they won’t say anything throughout this segment because they want to make it look very serious.

“Now I myself am a big fan of Shawn Michaels, and I have nothing but respect for him. What he has done has not in any way changed my view of him as a person. I don’t know the whole story, but I do know this. Shawn Michaels is not happy about what he’s done. He regrets it deeply, and he feels like he’s let each and every one of you, and all of his fans elsewhere, down.”

“HBK” chants begin to fill the arena as the entire crowd begins to stand on their feet. The cheers get louder.

“The WWE Board of Directors has been talking all week about how to handle this situation, and..”

HBK receives the biggest pop of the night as his music hits and he bursts into the arena. He kneels down on the ramp and prays as his fireworks explode across the stage. He stands up and high-fives a bunch of fans before walking further down the ramp and entering the ring. He enters the ring and gets a microphone.

“Shane, let me cut you off right there. Now I know what I did was wrong, and there’s no way I can change that. However, I am an honest man, and I am a prideful man. I am willing to accept whatever punishment is given to me, and after that happens, I plan on returning to the ring and kicking a*s all over again!”

“Look, Shawn. This isn’t easy for me; especially because I understand that this economy is tough right now. It’s hard for people to make a living, and many people are falling on hard times. You obviously did what you did for a reason, but that discussion is for another time and another place. Now, the Board of Directors has come up with three possible options. Either I suspend you for ninety days, I fire you, or..”

“Or what?”

“Well, the third option is that I put you in a match, and if you emerge victorious, you’re free of punishment. However if you lose, you lose your job and you can never return to World Wrestling Entertainment. Now I’m giving you the choice. You can choose an option, and whatever one you choose, I’ll respect that, and I’m sure all of these people will as well.”

“Shane, I tell you what. I’m not going to quit. I don’t want to be suspended, but then again, it is a big risk to put my career on the line in a match. However, The Heartbreak Kid has always been one for taking risks! They don’t call me The Showstopper for nothin’! So you know what? I’ll take option three!”

“HBK” chants begin to fill the arena again. They are definitely doing a great job with this segment. The highlight of the night without a doubt.

“I figured you would. Now, before I tell you the match, I’d like you to know that I had nothing to do with the choosing of this match. It was organized by the Board of Directors.”

“Just get on with it already.”

“Well, Shawn, you have to face most of the ECW Roster.”

Major heat from the crowd for this one. Although I did expect a Handicap Match to be in the works.

“No surprise there.”

“The match will be an Elimination Match, and it will be you taking on fifteen members of the ECW Roster. Good luck.”

Shane McMahon drops the microphone and exits the ring, leaving HBK in the ring by himself.

Suddenly, Mark Henry, Jack Swagger, Dustin Delta, and The Big Show come down to the ring and surround Shawn Michaels. He tries to battle back, but the numbers game catches up to him.

Gong. And the lights go out. When they come back on, The Deadman is in the ring. Henry goes right for him, but HBK intervenes and nails Henry with some Sweet Chin Music. The Deadman takes down Delta with a Chokeslam, sending a message to his upcoming opponent. Swagger is quick to retreat, while The Big Show hits Taker with some Right Hands. Taker battles right back, quickly gaining an advantage over The World’s Largest Athlete. HBK, probably confused as to what’s going on, nails The Big Show with some Sweet Chin Music. Show, reeling, turns around and finds himself on the receiving end of a Tombstone Piledriver. The Deadman stares at HBK for a moment before the lights go out. When they come back on, The Deadman is no longer in the ring.

Truly a great ending to what I consider one of the best Smackdown episodes in a while.
