Kallan
What does EN mean? Like, instead of RDS-001, it's RDS-EN001. I've always wondered what it meant. Sorry if I sound nooby.
The Slime Lord
EN means English. JP means Japanese. Example: RDS-EN001, RDS-JP001.
Kallan
So, the cards without EN are orignally Japanese??? :? What does it mean when a card just has AST-001?
The Slime Lord
Kinda. There are English cards without EN. It just means that cards with EN either JP are newer. Why they suddenly decided to put EN/JP in their ID, I don't know. If a card says just AST-001 with out EN or JP, it's old. They have reprinted most of the English cards so they say (ID)-EN(numbers) You can tell if it is in English or not just by looking at the writing. Kallan
Oh, I get it now. I don't understand why they put EN and JP though. Try looking at the text to judge that... Also the newer cards don't have EN... Did they suddenly decide to stop doing it? :?
The Slime Lord
I guess. I haven't noticed. I guess they just thought that people could find out what kind of card it is by looking at the writing. :p Oh yeah, I've seen Spanish cards. Those say SP... Kallan
In 2004, several packs came out including EN. When they hit Dark Beginning 1, they stopped. On the next pack they made, after DB1, they started again. All the Structure decks have EN.
The Slime Lord
That's weird. I don't know why they did that. :? I guess there were people who couldn't tell the difference between English and Japanese :p
Kallan
Konami staff are sitting there, like, "Oops I forgot to print EN on the cards... Oh, well, the boss won't notice. I'll get to it next time." -next time- "Oh, darn, I forgot again!" -next time...again- "I got it right this time! :D"
Azuh
They did that because before the DBs the Japenese sets had different names and different sets than the Engilsh ones such as"Mythlogical Age"and suchbut now they have the same set names and yeah!
