Vector Nightmare
Rule #XXX of the anime: under no circumstances should characters be brought back from the dead unless the wirters have a good reason to bring them back. You mean like Carly, Misty, Martha, Rally etc, right? All those characters that were inexplicably revived after the end of season 1, removing any grimdark feeling it had finally managed to achieve and severely reducing the impact of the whole story, turning it into another 'lolhappyend' gay finale, had very good reasons to be revived, right? They all played big parts in season 2, building up colorful characters and greatly heightening viewer experience, right? ...right.
evilfusion
Martha was just absorbed by Uru, she didn't die. Rally...was claimed as a victim of Uru, but technically should not have been, since he lost in Rudger's place and should have either been untouched like Ushio and that other Dark Signer puppet (with Fitzgerald), or suffered the same permanent disappearing act as the Dark Signers until the season ended. He even died the same way Dark Signers did. The Dark Signers were really just tools. With the exception of Demak (who we never knew a thing about), and Carly (who was fairly unwilling in the first place) they all repented/gave up their grudges. The only two that truly embraced their Dark Signer attributes were the Godwins, and they DID die.
Vector Nightmare
But the fact that those people who did not deserve to die did die, like Kiryu and Misty and Carly - that was what made season 1 so awesome. It was 'unfair' - no matter whether the Signers won or lost, they'd be the ones to lose - either win and sacrifice their friends, or lose and sacrifice the whole world. In an ideal world, that scenario would be used to create something that is known as character development. In Yu-Gi-Oh!, it was scrapped in order to sell trading cards. Well, it's nothing really new so I guess it's alright, we've all gotten used to it since DM Season 1. But that rule that was mentioned has already been violated so many times it's not out there to see the Godwin bros coming back, eventually. EDIT: And, death, absorption, shadow realm, whatever. They all pretty much amount to the same thing when trading cards are concerned. At least according to 4Kids. Ninja EDIT: At least Divine should've died though. And he didn't V_V

They all pretty much amount to the same thing when trading cards are concerned. At least according to 4Kids. Ninja EDIT: At least Divine should've died though. And he didn't V_V Well, it's increasingly difficult to justify killing off most of the cast. And the Dark Signers were all originally dead, which is how they became Dark Signers in the first place. There's got to be a line regarding who survives and who doesn't. All the sacrifices to the Jibakushin had to come back, or else the entire city would have been absorbed and even victory would not have meant a thing. That's not character development material, that's a freaking city-wide apocalypse. And the method the Dark Signers died was rather supernatural in itself, considering the "crumbling to dust" thing. Supernatural death can be reversed, I guess. Besides, I think the Crimson Dragon may have intervened in that case. Godwin did want to combine the powers to "destroy the world through the King of the Underworld and rebuild it with the Crimson Dragon". Godwin and Rudger did walk into the light of the afterlife, so I'm pretty sure they're gone for good. Divine did die, unless I missed some secret revelation that Divine survived being literally eaten by Ccarayhua. I will agree that bringing everyone back and then not including them in the cast for the next season (Rally, Misty, Demak, etc) cheapened the whole thing with them dying. Bommer got to reappear for like 2-3 episodes, and Kiryu got a huge arc. Carly was just a Jack fangirl/stalker, and I tend to think she's meant to be comic relief. Her dying was probably better, because of the development her character gave Jack, in life and death. Jack doesn't seem to give a damn about her in season 2+, which seems really counterproductive to season 1. Yusei and Kiryu at least continued their character themes in regards to each other. It was to the point where we wonder whether Yusei actually HAS those friends any more. What happened to his season 1 chums? The one he flipped out about their safety during the Dark Signer arc? I mean, he only spent years with them before Satellite got connected to the City, and he got super p.o.ed and wanted to beat the hell out of the Dark Signers because of them disappearing. Premier Alexander Romanov
I don't know if I should be complaining about this here, but the Machine Emperors are being renamed, of all things, "Meklords".
evilfusion
*covers ears* No they're not! It's official...I've got to buy a Japanese Skiel for the sentimental value because the English version will look stupid with "Meklord" in it. And they probably wont hve the Infinity symbol on the card because English versions hate cool-looking stuff.
Legend Zero
I don't know if I should be complaining about this here, but the Machine Emperors are being renamed, of all things, "Meklords".Meklords sounds like a failed Power Rangers idea. -_-
Premier Alexander Romanov
Why can't they go with "Machine Emperors", the names the Yu-Gi-Oh! community has known them as for over a year now?!?I know "Machine Imperial SOLDIER" probably needs to be modified, but why turn "Machine Imperial Soldier Wisel Ein" into "Meklord Army of Wisel"? It just sounds...stupid...
evilfusion
Please tell me that's not what they're calling the Machine Imperial Soldiers. Because if it is, I swear I am deliberately keeping my custom EXVC YVD sets just so I dont have to deal with that naming.
Premier Alexander Romanov
According to the latest press release via Shriek, that is what the Machine Imperial Soldiers are being called. Furthermore, the "Meklord Emperors" (redundancy, much?) will be included in the TCG release of Extreme Victory as well.Want me to include a link? evilfusion
Yes. But GOD DAMMIT! *adds Machine Emperors to list of cards I refuse to ever acknowledge the name changes of. Interestingly, their users are also on that list*
Premier Alexander Romanov
Here you go.Did I mention the Yu-Gi-Oh! community has been using the name "Machine Emperors" for over a year now?Oh, and, as a side note, "Tech Genus" cards will simply be called "T.G.". evilfusion
Yes, and even the English anime called them Machine Emperors up to this point! What the hell?! That's it. I'm simply refusing to use their names, and I'm refusing to use anything other than my custom YVD Set for them. They've been translated as "Machine Emperor" only since their release in the anime, and now they're going to change it to something retardedly stupid? If that's the case, I'm not even going to watch the dub episodes of 107-110 because I dont think I'd be able to...wait, Placido has an okay dub voice if I ignore the blatantly "My voice makes me sound evil" issue I have with it, so maybe I will. Ugh..Meklord, seriously?!
Premier Alexander Romanov
It's like Konami doesn't care about their fan base anymore! They figure they can do whatever they want and people won't notice, even when they go against the dub and the names people have been using for such a long time!I just can't seem to wrap my head around any reason why they would change the names!!! evilfusion
The only reason I can think of is to unite the archetype of Machine Emperors and Machine Imperials. "Meklord Emperor", "Meklord Army", and just "Meklord" as the unification. As opposed to Machine Emperor, Machine Imperial, and just...there is no unified term. Premier Alexander Romanov
Well, how about, instead of "Machine Imperial Soldier", make it "Machine Emperor's Soldier"?It still has "Machine Emperor" in it.
evilfusion
It would still clash with Machine Imperial Castle, which only applies to "Machine Emperors", and some support only applies to "Machine Imperial Soldiers", but a good portion of the support applies to both. They can't include "Machine Emperor" in the Imperial Soldier's name, and they have to distinguish the Soldiers from the Emperors. Of course, the solution isnt that hard, but ink is sooooo pricey. "...'Machine Emperor' or 'Machine Imperial' monster..."
