I am sorry Aki...I must denounce my love for Cherie Leblanc...but I love you too Aki. I absolutely love this Female Jack, not to mention that sexy Centaurumina, although Fleur de Chevalier is kinda cool too. And yes I loved Aki's reaction when Jack commented on how she reacts when Yusei is involved as well as the YuseixAkiness. :P

I'm not going to lie-71 was terrible. The fact that everyone is trying to get Yusei on their team is rediculous. Some of the things the main charachters are saying make them sound like 10-year olds, and they are completely out of charachter. If I had to choose my biggest problem with this season so far, it's that everyone's out of charachter. Yusei can't put 2 and 2 together, Crow is turning into Jaden, and Jack is acting like the new kid on the block who knows nothing about anything. Aki has been making me facepalm a lot.

1. Not Crucial to the Narrative

I've seen arguments that Crow is crucial to the storyline of 5Ds. Really' date=' I don't find any of them convincing. His big role is listening to Godwin for for thirty seconds and saving Yusei, which virtually any character with a D-Wheel could have done. It's been argued that Yusei learned how to counter the attacks of Earthbound Gods by watching him... but honestly, I find that a really long stretch. Crow really is the character least essential to the narrative in season two- well, except for Ushio. But at least Ushio had been established as a minor character in season one. Crow just kind of appeared out of virtually nowhere (and no, kids, announcing outside the series that a new character is coming doesn't count as foreshadowing).

[b']2. His awkward insertion into the narrative.

Crow's appearance in the second season was really awkward, considering his relationship to the main characters. He's known Jack and Yusei all his life, they're close friends... so why on earth would they not be in contact with each other? Crow does live in Sattelite after all. Why didn't Crow help with the whole 'breaking into Neo Domino' scheme? That sounds like something he'd be good at. Heck with that, why didn't anyone mention Crow? I mean, even an excuse like "Why can't Crow help? Oh yeah, The Securities caught him and he's still waiting to get out" would have been fine with me. Half of Crow's problems could have been solved if he had just been established as a minor character in season one.

3. BURAKKU FEZZA

This is more a "dislike Konami" than "dislike Crow" thing, but I'll say this now: does anyone here think that the Black Feathers were a good idea?

The writers really screwed things up by giving such a broken archetype... to a major character. Crow keeps making totally contrived moves to keep the duel going, when a smart duelist would have immediately ended it. We don't even have the excuse of Crow being an idiot with strong cards or enjoying drawn-out duels here (evidence- his introductory episode, OTK cop). The way the writers handled this was pretty lame, and it certainly doesn't help me enjoy Crow's duels.

4. Inability to empathize with the character.

Try as the writers might, they cannot get me to feel sorry for Crow. And I'm a bleeding heart. I cried at the end of Chrono Crusade. I'm not proud. My favorite movies are sappy chick flicks. The fact that Crow can have a tragic past that doesn't make me at least want to pat him on the back and tell him it'll all be okay is evidence that the second and third seasons of 5Ds are written by a series of complete imbeciles.

Crow's motivation appears interesting on the surface- he takes care of a group of kids in Sattelite, and he wants to protect them. Problem?

Um... when in this series did he do anything to actively protect the kids? All we ever see him doing with them is giving them trading cards (because with cards, you can do anything!) and then getting pissed because they went poof while he was hiding in a magic porta-pottie. (Indiana Jones moment, anyone?) There's really not a huge amount of time making us like the kids, or establishing Crow's role as a parental figure. (No, a group of kids fawning on you because you're handing them goodies does not a parental figure make).

I've heard Crow compared (God help you) to Jonouchi Katsuya, who is quite possibly my favorite character in the original series. To be honest, I think the defining factors that keep me from liking Crow as this season's "Jounouchi" are simply that unlike Jonouchi, who had a pretty-well-established relationship with the main cast and Shizuka, Crow doesn't really have a motivation that makes you feel for the guy. Oh, and he didn't decide to show up out of the blue and suddenly establish himself as a main character. That helped too.

5. I AM THE FABULOUS CROW-SAMA!

I don't think Jounouchi was this arrogant. Hell, the only other main character this self-flattering I can think of was Manjoume, and on him it was semi-endearing. On Crow it just grates and makes me want to hit him and his disturbing orange hair with a brick and be done with it.

6. He's the easy way out.

The final reason I don't like Crow is that I feel like the writers used him as an 'easy way out' of sorts to give them a fifth Signer. It would have been much more interesting to develop Rua, Ushio, or one of the other minor characters from season one and set them up for the Signer position. Crow was just sort of... bleh. The biggest problem I have with him is that whenever the writers try to make me feel sorry for him all I can manage to say is "Heartstring. Not tugging." Dammit, writers, when you want me to feel sorry for a character I try my best, but you're really not helping any!

Think about these points and compare the two of them.

My fave part of the episode:

sinttulo1tgs.png

I knew someone would say that' date=' as soon as I saw that. XD

Although, it's still pretty sad. They're becoming cartoon charachters.

My thoughts on the charachters:
He isn't interesting at all anymore. He is living his life without a motive, except to go to some tournement, that we hardly care about, because of how little we know about it. Basically, he's just there.
Acting like a wife. Basically, she's becoming a cartoon. She's lost over half of her emotions.
He was basically born yesterday, and he, like Yusei, has no reason to get out of bed in the morning.
Jaden[/s] Crow]

Do I need to explain?

The sad thing is just how right you are about all of that. I would seriously like to see some change in their personalities, especially changing Crow's "Jaden-ness".

Yes it's completely horrible that I am right about something.

I know that's not what you meant' date=' but I lol'd.

This is what I meant awhile ago when I said the episodes weren't as good. Unfortunately, I was right all along.

[/quote']

I hadn't even caught that until you said it. lol! I wouldn't even mind mind sitting through...fillers... *shudders at the thought* if it meant improvement.
