Adobe Photoshop 7.0 Help

I think I understand you. Open your image, then go to the layers panel at the right. Click on the only layer there. Look slightly above it and you'll see something like:

Normal 100%

 

Lower the 100%. This is the opacity, the opposite of how clear it is. Lowering this fades the image on that layer. If you need a white background on a site without a white background, you'll also need to right click on your layer, and choose "New Layer". Select the fill tool, and white (or any other background colour you want), and click on the picture. Then drag the layer in the layer panel below the image. If you want more interesting fades, try layer modes (the drop-down box where it says Normal) such as Darken, and different coloured backgrounds.
