Chapter 1: Leaving Home

 

Damina City, Ken's House, Year 4036

 

Maria: "Ken, are you finished with your homework yet?"

 

Maria is Ken's mother, who always wears an apron, pink & purple clothes, has blackish-brown hair and sweet blue eyes, like the ocean.

 

Ken: "Yes mom, I finished about an hour ago."

 

Ken is a shy kid with blonde hair, green-blue eyes, about 1,000 freckles, a red cut off shirt, 4 tattos on his arms alone, dark-blue pants, and black tennis shoes.

 

Maria: "Oh, okay." "Bud and Jasmine came over a little while ago and asked me if you wanted to go register for The Damina City Tournament."

 

Ken: "WHAT?????" "Mom you said you would tell me if they came by!"

 

Maria: "Sorry Ken." "But, if you jump on the bus you can make it there just in time."

 

Ken: "Okay, that's a relief." "Now where's my deck?"

 

Maria walks by the room and overhears Ken.

 

Maria: "Check under the bed, sweetie and you Nitro Disk is in my room".

 

Ken: "Nitro Disk!!!!" "Mom you said I couldn't use that because..."

 

Ken suddenly sits on his bed and begins to weep.

 

Maria: "Sweetie, it's okay, we both miss your father." "The Nitro Disk was built for you, and we both know that now you are ready to use it."

 

Ken slowly stops crying.

 

Ken: "Really, mom?"

 

Maria: "Yes, now go take the Nitro Disk and meet up with your friends."

 

Ken and his mother walk to the front door after Ken has gotten his deck and the Nitro Disk.

 

Ken: "Mom, you know that because of the tournament I won't see you for a year."

 

Maria barely beginning to cry.

 

Maria: "I know, and because of that I have installed two new features besides the normal dueling functions on the Nitro Disk."

 

Ken: "What?"

 

Maria: "I added a videophone so we can talk and an extra compartment for the new type of card you have in your deck."

 

Ken surprised.

 

Ken: "New card?"

 

Maria: "Yes, your father wanted you to have it." "RED DRAGON ARCHFIEND"

 

Ken wildly excited.

 

Ken: "Thanks, mom!" I'll always use it and...oh no, I'm late!!!" "Have to run mom, thanks for the card, I'll call you!!!"

 

Maria: "I LOVE YOU."

 

But Ken, was already out of the house and half way into the journey of a lifetime, he was about to D-D-D-D-D-D-Duel!!!!!!!!!!!!
