Hold on. You did not just say Stars are a mystery beyond our understanding. Seriously. Don't try and be deep if you're below the age of puberty. Get a better level of knowledge and try again. =). On topic, though, I'm guessing our race will die out as a result of stars. In 13 Million years or so, when the Earth orbits into this section of extremely close-bound stars. Yeah. We know they contain Atomic particles that get loosed into the universe once the star's died, or become a supernova. We continue to study stars because they can be a threat, as well as the simple advancement in knowledge our race can get. Humans never really think they know enough.
