ŞťřïЖЄѓ™
How can I recolor cards on GIMP?First one to tell me gets 2 reps. Link to comment
moneypony
well,my style takes a while but better than fuzzy selecting:1.press the path select tool(shortcut=B)2.carefully make a path around the stars, attribute, stickers, borders, pictures, etc. that you shouldn't recolor, make sure you start a new path every time so the path won't be all over the place.you will start a new path when you drag a path. 3.once the paths are complete,on the left side, there should be a button saying "Selection from Path",click on it. 4.check by pressing colors>colorize and see which parts are colorized,if you are colorizing the wrong thing, press cancel. 5.press ctrl+I at the same time or go to selection>invert to invert your selection making you select all the things you accidentally colored at first.then try colorizing again.you may skip this step if for step 4 you were colorizing the right thing. i havn't tested this but i am pretty sure it works. ŞťřïЖЄѓ™
How does the path TOTALLY work?I am stuck. Link to comment
moneypony
well, the path tool is like the polygonal lasso tool in PS,it's like a free form select tool except you get straighter lines and you can stop to take a break, when the path tool makes a path around something,it usually selects whats inside of it but doesn't select other paths inside it,thats why you have to invert to get it correct, this is like the same process as rendering with GIMP.you don't actually have to know how the path tool works to do my style. ŞťřïЖЄѓ™
ok' date='thanks, and also make sure you select the inside part of the effect box border or else you will have the effect box border recolored too,as well as make one around the sticker.[/quote'] I know but what I am asking is HOW do you move to a new path without having to start the whole thing again? moneypony
well it said in the picture that you drag an old one you made a few times without moving it too much and then click somewhere else and it should make a new one, Link to comment

ŞťřïЖЄѓ™
It's complicated but I'll get it sooner or later. Link to comment
moneypony
read my old post,i editied it with how to make the new path"when you finish your first, just hold on shift and click on the other place you want to make a path around and it should start a new one. " Link to comment
ŞťřïЖЄѓ™
I always get bad results.I nearly did it but then it blew it.I'll never get it.Can someone elese explain a EASIER way? Thanks. Link to comment
moneypony
well, are you sure you zoomed in?take your time,if you rush you will never get a good one.i will try finding an easier way but this seems to be the best since you have to select all the things your not supposed to recolor, but fuzzy, square, eliptical, and free form can't do that so path is your best choice, just take your time and use the history button if you made a mistake. Dark
What I do, is I also recolor the stars and the attributes. It may not be pro, but it works. Step 1: Click Select All.Step 2: Click the rectangle select tool. At the bottom of the tool box, there will be 4 little boxes. Click on the third one. It should say "Subtract from current selection."Step 3: Use the select tool and select the picture and whatever else you don't want to get colored.Step 4: Click COLORS [the drop-down], then Colorize, and then color it. Save it as a .png. Hope I helped! Link to comment
moneypony
umm,i see some problems,1.recoloring the stars and attributes will make it not a recolor2.you can just paste the stars and attibutes over it.3.part of the sticker gets recolored but the other side isn't making it look ugly.4.the effect box border gets recolored too making it unrealistic5.mine gives better results. Dark
Well, he thinks your way is too complicated. Although, I might wanna try using your way. And people think that the effect box colored looks cooler. Link to comment
