Umbra
What do you mean with "format"? Anyhow, there's nothing wrong with your thread and it won't be locked.
Blamonchesix
It's not exactly a form of literature. But thanks. Thank you for your time. (^_^)
Otakon
I have a question regarding Script format. My question is if I use 'Bob:Hello' and change to '"Hello" said Bob' to change my fic (and I mean ALL of it) would that be any good?My fic is currently Script format (sorry about that, missed the rule that forbids it) and I planned to use the above example with it, and nothing else (I suck at details). Here are a few examples, please tell if they're both okay Ex. 1:'"Yo, could you come over for a moment? Said John"Sure thing" Said Bob"Great" Said John'...and so on... Ex. 2:'"Yo, could you come over for a moment? Said John while tinkering with the machineBob turned around."Sure thing" said Bob, who was outside. He slowly started walking towards the store."Great" Said John with a smile on his face'And on and on and on... Maybe not so different from the original but...is it acceptable?I know it's a bit troublesome to read but it doesn't mean the story is bad (just the writer), I mean, it's like reading a comic-to-be. fenrir
That would work technically. I suggest replacing 'said' with words like, 'quipped, whispered, shouted' etc.

Kaisu
You can. But if it's a custom that you're using, I recommend you use an image of detailed desription of it.
Grunt Issun
You can. Limited Edition KING
Hey umbra what are the rules about other fiction? and yes I know it is yet to be added but I would like to know those rules.
Kaisu
You can. But if it's a custom that you're using' date=' I recommend you use an image of detailed desription of it.[/quote'] So like post the card and have a discreption of it under the card or somthing I meant 'or' not 'of'. But both would work if the image is pixelated/blurry. But have good OCG. That can annoy many people on this site.
Guest Delinquent Girl NiAtSoFi
Do the stories we post here HAVE to take place within a pre-existing fictional series? EDIT: Read a previous post on this question. Nevermind.
morfowt
Okay' date=' can I request a rule against FANFICS WITH SCRIPT FORMAT?It's seriously annoying when reading them. Also, it goes against the purpose of writing.RolePlaying, is okay. But FANFICS!?[/quote'] I was just going to say this. Scripts are for movies and TV. No book is ever written in script format, so why should we accept it? It removes almost all description and intrigue from the story as well. on the contrary, there is one book I know of written in script format. we had to read it for school. it's called Monster. Kaisu
And.. I would like to add that that post was last year... Months ago last year... As for Monster, isn't that a movie?
morfowt
No. I'm 200% sure Monster was the title of a book we had to read, not a movie we had to watch. and I'm 150% sure the book came out before any movie did (assuming there is a movie on it)... even if it was last year, the fact that no book is in script format is no longer a valid argument to ban script format. Not that I want script format. I just don't see a reason to ban it.
Kaisu
First of all, what about the Advanced Clause in the RP section? Same reason buddy.
morfowt
well I'm no literary expert, but Monster was not dull. either a good book/story, if done right, does not require character evolution, or you can evolve your character just fine if the script format is done right. I think I've read that one, and while it's a good book, it's one of the few that I've read that can effectively use scripting. (It was mainly because of the content; if my memory serves me right, it was about teenage crime, and there were a lot of plot transcripts.) Needless to say, script format's a rather lazy approach in other topics/subjects, and detracts from a writer's true ability. Therefore, we aren't allowing it. :#
Kaisu
Which brings me back to What about the RP section's Advanced Clause? Same thing, only MUCH easier.. If you go to school, you lern 2 rite. Properly, that is..
morfowt
well if it's possible to write effectively in script format, i don't think we should ban it. we should just highly not recommend it because usually it'll turn out bad.

morfowt
well if no one likes it no one would read it so why would they bother posting it in script format unless it was good?
