Discard Costs : Discussion

Secret Sinister Serpent and Night Assailant topic.

 

How many cards can you name with a generic discard cost - so not something like Destiny Draw, but something where any card can be discarded - that are currently balanced, but that would be banworthy if the discard cost was reduced by one?

 

I'll give you one easy one to start with: Lightning Vortex.

MSE would probably become more splashable and more widely used if it was discard 1 card for its effect but then again it would also make it banworthy.

 

And Graceful Charity is already banned. And so it should. That card is unbelieveably splashable and has a powerful drawing effect. Pot of Greed even doesnt allow you to draw 3 cards. Does the discard really hurt with Graceful Charity? The only other card that lets you draw 3 cards is Beginning of the End which is so unbelievably unsplashable, extremely situational and not good if drawn early. Its a free +2 but the situationalness and unsplashability doesnt really help when duels can last just a few turns. There isnt that many decks, not now anyway that can easily get 7 DARKs in the Grave in one turn or a few turns if any. This was an answer to someones suggestion about reducing Graceful Charity's 2 card discard to 1.

Cursed Seal of the Forbidden Spell. (Limit worthy then, free -2 in dead draws)

 

Spell Vanishing. (Not that playable VS Cursed seal, same cost, worse effect)

 

Carrierroid. (S/T Protection, unlimited)

 

Cold Enchanter. (Rigged with Ice Master.)

 

DDM. (Once per turn keeps less rigged, unless a CoSR for DD comes out)

 

Cyber Gymnist. (at least a +0, or more with some combos, not banned)

 

Kuriboh. (No LP loss, ever. Limit)
