Careless Whisper
I don't use brushed BGs though.... I use a grunge style BG at first, and then work my way through that to make the grunge unnoticeable.
Mikaeo
You use GIMP right? Most sigs I use don't use brushes for they BG. Try experiementing around with noise(under filters), and smudging. Also the Iwarp feature(filters>distorts>Iwarp) is very fun to use. I'm not sure if you use gradient maps, but they are also very helpful for blending in a sig. (colors>map>gradient map) you use them by setting the gradient and then doing them. Now to the sig. The left kinda looks like a white blob and seems to have no texture to it, try lowering the opacity on that layer maybe. It seems too flat, but noise and smudging on different settings will help with that.
Careless Whisper
Mikaeo...I already know about those filters, I have used everyfilter atleast once now. Infact, Noise>pick and gradient map are used in this, you just don't notice it because I did that at the very beginning.
Doom™
I would darken the left side (or lower opacity of that layer) and get some kind of better text, or darken it. Either way it;s good. Oh and for the brushhes. Go to Deviant, Download, Save to Desktop, when finished saving press Open, Highlight ALL the brushes, press Ctrl+C, go to My Computer, Local Drive (C: ), Program Files, Gimp, 2.0, Share, Brushes, then press Ctrl+V
