Grubby_12
because u can only hav 1 of each (unless u use heart of the underdog) their almost useless
chaoserver
Emissary of the afterlife, sangan, upstart goblin, stall cards, and if you have the cards d draw+malicious/disc commander. To be honest it would be terrible to run more than one copy of each, with the exception of perhaps the head.
the Snakey Wolf Lord
draw all 5 parts of the exodia and you win. or destroy all 5 parts and activate contract with the something to summon exodia necros
Sander
OF COURSE IT'S EFFECTIVE

Sartorius
Not effective. Thestalos, Zaloog, Dustshoot, Mind Crush, Confiscation. Just some of the reasons why Exodia is bad. Along with the cruddy Heart of the Underdog idea people see as innovative. In actual fact it's weak and lead to TERRIBLE hands.
JerryFreelance
^ Yeah but if you get them all in your hand you win. That's how it's effective Sart.
Quagmire_jr
it really works. with my current exodia deck (its "My new exodia deck" in deck section) i can win 3/4 duels on dmar if not more... it works if u use combos like d-hero defender and appropriate
Sartorius
I'm not sure of the odds but that's VERY VERY VERY VERY VERY VERY VERY VERY VERY VERY VERY VERY VERY VERY VERY VERY VERY VERY VERY VERY VERY VERY VERY VERY VERY VERY VERY VERY VERY VERY VERY VERY VERY VERY VERY VERY VERY VERY VERY VERY VERY VERY VERY VERY VERY VERY VERY VERY VERY VERY VERY VERY VERY VERY VERY VERY VERY VERY VERY VERY VERY VERY VERY VERY VERY VERY VERY VERY VERY VERY VERY VERY VERY VERY VERY VERY VERY VERY VERY VERY VERY VERY VERY VERY VERY VERY VERY VERY VERY VERY VERY VERY VERY VERY VERY VERY VERY VERY VERY VERY VERY VERY VERY VERY VERY VERY VERY VERY VERY VERY VERY VERY VERY VERY VERY VERY VERY VERY VERY VERY VERY VERY VERY VERY VERY VERY VERY VERY VERY VERY VERY VERY VERY VERY VERY VERY VERY VERY VERY VERY VERY VERY VERY VERY VERY VERY VERY VERY VERY VERY VERY VERY VERY VERY VERY VERY VERY VERY VERY VERY VERY VERY VERY VERY VERY VERY VERY VERY VERY VERY VERY VERY VERY VERY VERY VERY VERY VERY VERY VERY VERY VERY VERY VERY VERY VERY VERY VERY VERY VERY VERY VERY VERY VERY VERY VERY VERY VERY VERY VERY VERY VERY VERY VERY VERY VERY VERY VERY VERY VERY VERY VERY VERY VERY VERY VERY VERY VERY VERY VERY VERY VERY unlikely to happen. And I've never seen it happen. :P Quagmire: Defender is awful. Giving your opponent cards is terrible. Appropriate is ONE OF the WORST trap cards due to it's timing difficulties. As you have to activate it when your opponent draws due to an effect (BUT: You do not draw yet) and then you can use it's effect the NEXT time your opponent draws due to an effect. Quagmire_jr
think about this. defender = opponent draws oneappropriate=u draw 2 if ur opponent draws 1.together=u draw 2 each of ur opponents turn for eahc appropriate and each defender. and do u have a DMAR account? if so i can duel u later today/tomorrow.
Sartorius
Still, Defender and Appropriate are both some of the worst cards I've seen. And I am correct about the activation. You have defender. You have a set Appropriate. You end.Your opponent draws. Defender's effect kicks in. Your opponent draws. You can now activate Appropriate, BUT and it's a BIG BUT: You DO NOT draw for Appropriate's effect.REST OF OPPONENT'S TURNOpponent Ends TurnYOUR TURNYou end turn.Your opponent draws. Defenders effect, you may now activate the EFFECT of the Appropriate and DRAW due to it. It's tough stuff to get your head over.
Quagmire_jr
actually u can activate both the same turn. u can chain more than one thing to a card effect of anything else u can chan 2. like being able to chain both ordeal of a raveler and mirror force to an attack. so for the first chain i activate the card and the 2nd i activate the effect of the card. Sartorius
He is not. It is a well known YGO fact that you cannot activate Appropriate's effect during the same chain of activating it as that would start a new chain. I know my ygos. Don't argue with me on this. EVEN CHECK IT'S TEXT: You can activate this card when your opponent draws a card outside of his/her Draw Phase. After that, each time your opponent draws cards outside of his/her Draw Phase, you draw 2 cards.
Quagmire_jr
oh...i was looking at the origional text. the origional psv card does what i say... but still...i can draw a lot of cards by using it. iv once had 3 of each out. it only takes 2 turns to win... Sartorius
ok. Try not to argue with me though. I'm only trying to help you all. ncheng: >_> I'm rarely wrong with stuff like this.
Quagmire_jr
well ur wrong about it being ineffective. and if the pieces r removed from ur hand, their easy to get back... pot of arivice and other similar cards come in handy for this... and once again, do u have dmar... il prove my point.... Sartorius
Well there's no doubt about it. You're either too stubborn to listen or you're in a dream world. Exodia is AWFUL now. There's NO effective way of getting it in this format. And here's something else: You can have 3 Thestalos, 3 Raiza, 3 Don Zaloog, 3 Dustshoot, 1 Mind Crush and 1 Confiscation in a deck. You can only have 5 pieces of exodia. 14 cards vs your 5 pieces of exodia. And If I remove a piece from play? Yeah. I win. The odds are against you getting exodia and if you do, you're EXTREMELY lucky or your opponent is extremely bad/got a bad hand and draws.
Lilrow
I've managed to get 3 defenders face up and 1 appropriate face-up and vice-versa. And with Exodios, The Ultimate Sealed God and Sealed Gold Coffer coming out, it's going to get a lot better.

Sartorius
Not really. Skill Drain does nothing to monarchs due to the amount of S/T Destruction I and many other players run. Guardian Sphynx is nothing. Due to frog, I'll always have tribute fodder. RFG =/= Graveyard
Lilrow
Sartorius, most of the players on this forum play for fun and are not competitive. Get over it.
Sartorius
That has NOTHING to do with it. He asked if Exodia's effective and I answered him with real life examples. He's too stubborn to realise that Exodia is NOT effective in the format.
Lilrow
He did not ask if it was effect IN THIS FORMAT. He didn't know that there were strategies to get Exodia out a lot quicker and he seemed to think it was just random like pulling (Like yugi did), other people find Exodia a FUN deck to play. Also, in his title he said HOW is Exodia effective. He wanted to know any methods to make Exodia better.
