(If anyone wants to create a duelist to appear in this fanfic, just send me a PM with it's name, type of deck, signature move and duel behaviour)

Prologue:

The game once known as Duel Monsters have turned into a life style. You can see young people playing in the street aswell as business settlements agreed over a game. Now, the game’s creator, Maximillion Pegasus, have become one of the richest men in the history of mankind. Therefore, he decides to set up a new tournament, which will even make the legendary Battle City or even his own annual Duelist Kingdom look pathetic(Not too hard on the last one, by the way). He decided to call it The Rising Empire, and have invited duelists from all over the world the same way he usually does; sending them a cursed videotape and stealing someone’s soul. (He does that all the time)

This story begins with something as innocent as a knock on someone’s door, but will change the fate of a young man forever...

Chapter 1: The Awakening

Chiro lied in his bed, sleeping and dreaming about a harmless children’s card game called Duel Monsters, when he suddenly awoke by three rapid knocks on his bedroom door.

- Chiro, there’s a package for you at the front door. It’s from Industrial Illusions. And by the way, it’s breakfast.

Chiro rose up of his bed in a rush, and quickly got dressed.

- Breakfast!

After the quick dressing, Chiro ran down the stairs and into the small kitchen. Breakfast was already served, but in front of Chiro’s plate was a small package, with the Duel Monsters sign on top. Chiro pointed at the package with his left index finger.

- What’s that?

The only other one at the table, Jenna, Chiro’s annoying little sister, giggled.

- It’s the package from Industrial Illusions that I told you about, stupid.

Chiro’s eyes got wide open. He directly rushed forward and opened it, and found...

- A Duel Disk? Oh my, this is... so old! The Duel Disk was invented like, twenty years ago! This must be from Pegasus himself, he’s the only one old enough to not appreciate new technology. Look, he even sent a VHS cassette. Do we even have a VHS player?

His sister nodded.

- Down in the basement.

After approximately fifteen seconds, Chiro had inserted the VHS cassette into the player, and clicked “Play”. After about sixteen seconds of blur, Pegasus’ face appeared on the screen. I knew it!

- Hello, Chiro-boy, it’s Pegasus from Industrial Illusions, and I have sent you this invitation to the Shadow Bind Tournament. You better come.

Chiro stared neglecting at Pegasus.

- And what if I don’t?

- Then I will steal your sister’s soul with one of my Millenium Items.

- So? She’s just annoying, anyway.

Pegasus glared at Chiro.

- Then I will steal your parents’ souls.

- I shall be there.

Chiro leaned forward towards the VHS player to turn it off, but once again, Pegasus spoke.

- I will do it anyway.

Then the screen went black.

Chiro felt a sudden urge to sit down, and did so. From upstairs, he heard his sister yell.

- Chiro! Mom and Dad blacked out again!

A couple of days later, Chiro arrived at Pegasus’ private island known as the Duelist Kingdom, but this was no ordinary tournament. Chiro saw several hundreds of duelists, including some regional champions; Thomas Renclaw, a Zombie duelist, Eric Thunderbuzz, a Lightbringer, and one of the really old and nostalgic duelists: Old world champion Seto Kaiba, who still relies on the brute power of his Blue Eyes White Dragons, even though they have been proved useless in most situations.

- Attention duelists!

Everyone turned towards the old castle, where a man with pointy grey hair stood.

- Follow me up to the castle where you will meet your host.

After a few minute’s walk up an unneccessary long and dull staircase, the duelists gathered on the courtyard in front of a small balcony, where Pegasus stood.

- Greetings, my guests. It’s so fabulous that you could all make it to here. All of you have three things in common: All of you are talented duelists, you have been invited to join my tournament, and I stole the soul of someone close to you.

The crowd looked really pissed as he said the last part.

- But don’t worry, kids, their souls will get back. That is to say, if someone can beat me in this harmless children’s card game of my own creation. Then it will be like the ending of Scooby Doo: The movie.

Someone in the crowd shouted at Pegasus.

- How long do we have to listen to you jabbering on? We have card games to play!

- I will just explain the rules to you.

Everyone sighed.

- Rule number one: To access the finals, a duelist must gather ten Shadow Bind cards, which will be handed out to everyone as you leave here. The first eight people who gather these ten Shadow Binds will get entrance. Everyone else will be disqualified. If anyone is found without Shadow Binds, they are also disqualified.

Chiro sighed again. I have a feeling this is going to be a bit like Duelist Kingdom.

- Rule number two: Unlike Duelist Kingdom, all duels shall begin with eight thousand life points instead of four thousand.

Now, that’s something!

- Rule number three: At the beginning of each duel, both players must bet their Shadow Bind cards. The challenger places the bet, and the challenged can either refuse, accept the bet or demand a higher one.

Once again, just like Duelist Kingdom.

- Rule number four: At the end of the duel, the winner can take one card from the loser’s deck. That was everything, kids!

As Pegasus said this, a young man, probably around thirty-five years, with ridiculous hair stepped forward and raised a monster card high in the air.

- It’s time to D-d-d-d-d-d-d-d-d...

But by that time, everybody had ran away.

Heh... What next, I wonder... 8/10.

Holy literature, Batman! I just realized that I've forgotten my FF.net account since I joined! I'd better get back to work. Again, 8/10. It's well-written, but you don't use quotation marks.

Chapter 2: The Great Battle of our Episode.

Chiro started to run down the stairs briskly. He didn’t want to be up there when the thirty-fiveyearold man stopped jabbering. That always meant that the show became a crappy anime cartoon, and nobody likes that. Suddenly, he heard someone cry out.

- Anybody wanna get their game on?

The speaker was a young boy, probably not much older than Chiro himself. He wore a red jacket, and had hair shaped like an upsidedown salad bowl. Chiro nodded. Silly hair. This must be an anime.

- I wish to duel you, you strange person.

The boy shouted in grief.

– I’m not strange! I’m Jaden! I have my own anime show, for crying out loud!

Chiro sighed.

- If I had a buck for everytime I heard someone say that, I’d have a buck right now. But that doesn’t matter, because all I want is your Shadow Bind!

The boy – Jade, something – stared angrily at Chiro.

- The only one who will have my Shadow Bind is me! Not some side-character with little reference to the main story in some anime-show!

Chiro, once again, sighed at the sight of this pathetic little boy.

- It’s time to duel, little Jadey-boy. You want to start today?

- Of course, whatever your name is.

- It’s Chiro. Remember it when you’re on the boat home.

- It’s Duel Time!

Round 1:

Chiro: 8000 LP, 6 cards in hand, 0 cards on field.

Jaden: 8000 LP, 6 cards in hand, 0 cards on field.

Jaden: I begin by summoning my Elemental Hero Clayman in face-up Defense Mode!

Chiro: Is that even allowed? And isn’t it called Defense Position?

Jaden: What do you think this is, serious gameplay? Anyway, I’ll end my turn with throwing down-

Chiro: Set.

Jaden: Who cares, this is made for amusement, not for actual gaming! I throw down two face-down cards to end my turn.

Chiro: I’ll begin by summoning my Regenerating Mummy in face-up Attack Position. Then I’ll activate my Mystical Space Typhoon, destroying one of your face down cards. Or infact, the leftmost one!

(Jaden’s Hero Signal is sent to the graveyard.)

Jaden: Damn you!

Chiro: I end my turn by placing one face-down card.

Round 2:

Chiro: 8000 LP, 3 cards in hand, 2 cards on field.

Jaden: 8000 LP, 3 cards in hand, 1 cards on field.

Field: None.

Jaden: (draws a card) This is the card I was waiting for! I activate Polymerization is order to fuse my Elemental Hero Avian with my Elemental Hero Burstinatrix to create Elemental Hero Phoenix Enforcer! (2100/1200/6)

Chiro: Which I will take care of. Activate face-down Trap Card! Adhesion Trap Hole!

Jaden: Oh, no!

Chiro: Your Phoenix now loses half of it’s ATK points! (2100->1050) That makes it useless!

Jaden: I don’t think so. Activate Field Spell! Skyscraper!

A city appeares around Jaden and Chiro, making the few people who have not yet heard their extremely loud shouting notice them.

Jaden: That gives my Elemental Heroes 1000 ATK points whenever they-

Chiro: I know what Skyscraper does. You done yet, carrot-head?

Jaden: ARGH! Phoenix Enforcer, attack his Regenerating Mummy!

(Phoenix Enforcer attacks Regenerating Mummy, Chiro loses 250 LP)

Jaden: I end my turn!

Chiro: You have nothing better, Jadeboy? In that case, you might just drop dead.(draws a card) I summon Kahkki, Guerilla of Dark World, combined with my card Creature Swap!

(Kahkki and Phoenix Enforcer change places) Now, Phoenix, attack Kahkki, Guerilla of Dark World! (Kahhki is destroyed, Jaden loses 750 LP) I end my turn by placing 1 card face-down.

Round 3:

Chiro: 7750 LP, 2 cards in hand, 1 cards on field.

Jaden: 7250 LP, 1 cards in hand, 1 cards on field.

Field: Skyscraper.

Jaden: (draws a card) Activate Field Spell! Fusion Gate! That allows both of us to fuse our –

Chiro: I know that, too. You going to do anything?

Jaden: Of course I will, Chiro. I tribute the E-Hero Sparkman in my hand and the Clayman on the field to summon my Elemental Hero Thunder Giant!

(Thunder Giant is summoned, and Phoenix Enforcer is destroyed.)

Chiro: Good move, Jaden. You used Thunder Giant’s effect to destroy your own Phoenix Enforcer.

Jaden: That was my line! Thunder Giant, attack his Life Points directly!

(Thunder Giant attacks, Chiro loses 2400 Life Points.)

Chiro: That hurt.

What happens next? Will Chiro ever defeat Jaden? (Probably, since he is the main character, but this makes it a little more exciting) And the question everybody asks themselves:

Will this boring fanfic ever end?

Chapter 3: The great battle of our Episode, part 2

Quick review for those who just don’t want to scroll up a bit:

Jaden has an Elemental Hero Thunder Giant on his side of the field, along with a Fusion Gate. He has no cards in his hand.

Chiro has no monsters on the field, and 1 card in his hand.

It’s currently Chiro’s turn.

Chiro: There are cards in my deck that can defeat you, Jadeboy. Don’t think there isn’t. (draws a card, and smiles.)

Chiro: And I just managed to draw one of them! I summon my mascot, Thousand-Eyes Idol! (0/0/1)

( A small doll with a disturbing amount of eyes all over it’s body pops up.) And then I activate my Spell Card, Metamorphosis!

Jaden: Metamorphosis? Oh-no! You can summon a level 1 Fusion Monster! My Thunder Giant will crush it!

Chiro sighs again.

Chiro: I don’t think so. Thousand-Eyes Idol! Tribute yourself to summon Thousand-Eyes Restrict!(0/0/1)

(The slightly disturbing doll starts to grow, and developes a Relinquished-wannabe body. It still has the disturbing amount of eyes.)

Chiro: While Thousand-Eyes Restrict is on the field, no monsters other than himself can declare an attack! And, he can also take control of a monster on your side of the field! Thunder Giant, come to me!

(Thunder Giant jumps into the Thousand-Eyes Restrict, and gets stuck.)

Jaden: No! My Thunder Giant!

Chiro: That’s not the bad part. Thousand-Eyes Restrict also gets the same ATK and DEF as the monster he stole from you! (0->2400/0->1500) Thousand-Eyes, attack Jaden’s Life Points directly! (Jaden loses 2400 Life Points.)

Round 4:

Chiro: 5350 LP. 1 card on the field, 0 cards in his hand.

Jaden: 4850 LP. 1 card on the field, 0 cards in his hand.

Field: Fusion Gate.

Jaden: Internal Monologue Time! Suddenly, Jaden looks very stressed. Chiro looks at him.

Chiro: Who did Pegasus steal from you? You know, the whole soul thing.

Jaden looks up at Chiro.

Jaden: He took a guy called Zane Truesdale. A friend’s brother. He actually took him in the middle of a duel against a guy called Johan.

Chiro: Sorry to break this to you, but I have seen that episode of your spinoffshow, and no, Zane is dead.

Jaden: No! Pegasus stole his soul! He must have! That’s the only explanation! He always does that! It even says so in this series’ prologue! I will defeat Pegasus!

Chiro sighs.

Chiro: You know what they say. Denial is the first phase. Actually, I myself consider the Draw Phase to be the first, but whatever. Let’s continue the duel.

Jaden: You bet I will. (draws a card) I Special Summon Elemental Hero Bubbleman in face-up Attack Position. And since he is the only card on my side of the field, I can draw two cards due to his effect. (draws two cards) And since my Bubbleman was Special Summoned, I can Summon another monster aswell. But first, I activate Pot of Greed, which gives me two more cards. (draws two cards) I choose to Tribute my Elemental Hero Bubbleman to summon Elemental Hero Necroshade in face-up Defense Position! And I end my turn by placing 1 card face-down!

Chiro: Necroshade?(draws a card) It must be one of these new Elemental Heroes! I hate new Elemental Heroes! Thousand-Eyes Restrict, attack! Crush Necroshade! (Necroshade is destroyed)

Jaden: Bwahahaha! You triggered two traps at once! Activate face-down Trap Card Hero Signal! I summon Elemental Hero Wildheart from my deck in face-up Attack Position! And with my Necroshade’s effect, I can summon another Elemental Hero from my deck without tributing! I choose to summon another Necroshade! And then, I activate Fusion Gate’s effect to fuse my Elemental Hero Necroshade and Elemental Hero Wildheart into Elemental Hero Necroid Shaman! (Elemental Hero Necroid Shaman is summoned)

Chiro: Holy Ra! What an extremely long text string! I end my turn.

Round 5:

Chiro: 5350 LP. 1 card on the field, 1 card in his hand.

Jaden: 4850 LP.2 cards on the field, 1 card in his hand.

Field: Fusion Gate.

Jaden: That’s not the whole thing! (draws a card) I activate Necroid Shaman’s superpower to destroy Thousand-Eyes Restrict, and then summon another monster from your graveyard! And I choose the Thousand-Eyes Idol! (Thousand-Eyes Restrict dissappeares in a purple light, leaving the Thousand-Eyes Idol behind) Necroid Shaman, attack Thousand-Eyes Idol! Necrosis Boomstick! (Thousand-Eyes Idol is destroyed, Chiro loses 1900 Life Points)

I end my turn!

Chiro sighs, then claps his hands.

Chiro: That was an excellent move, Jaden. You might have some potential after all. (draws a card, and smiles) But not here. Because I just drew my Doomsday Spirit!(1500/1000/4,created card) And I choose to summon it! (Doomsday Spirit is summoned) Go, Doomsday Spirit! Seal of Final Death! (A purple circle appeares around Necroid Shaman) I end my turn by placing a card face-down.

Round 6:

Chiro: 4250 LP. 1 card on the field, 1 card in his hand.

Jaden: 4850 LP.2 cards on the field, 1 cards in his hand.

Field: Fusion Gate.

Jaden: (draws a card) I have more than potential. I have my own anime show! Necroid Shaman, attack Doomsday Spirit! (Necroid Shaman attacked, Doomsday Spirit is destroyed. Chiro loses 1900 Life Points, Necroid Shaman is destroyed.)

Jaden: Double-you-tee-eff was that?

Chiro starts to laugh.

Chiro: My Doomsday Spirit’s effect! When it was summoned, I selected your Necroid Shaman as target for it’s effect, and when Doomsday was destroyed, your Necroid Shaman was destroyed aswell! I have to pay another 1000 Life Points, but it was worth it.

Jaden: Argh! I end my turn!

Chiro: (draws a card) And my Doomsday Suit is not over yet! I remove Doomsday Spirit from my graveyard in order to Summon my Apocalyptic Messenger! (1000/1900/5, created card) Apocalyptic Messenger, attack Jaden’s Life Points directly! Judgement of Brute! (Apocalyptic Messenger attacks, Jaden loses 1800 Life Points)

Jaden: Once again, Double-you-tee-eff?

Chiro: When my Messenger attacks you directly, it gains 800 ATK points while attacking!

I end my turn.

Round 7:

Chiro: 2350 LP. 1 card on the field, 0 card in his hand.

Jaden: 3050 LP.1 card on the field, 2 cards in his hand.

Field: Fusion Gate.

Jaden: (draws a card) I play Elemental Hero Clayman in Defense Position! And then I activate my Spell Card! (reveals his spell card) Monster Reincarnation! I add an Elemental Hero Burstinatrix from my graveyard to my hand, and then I fuse her with Clayman and Fusion Gate in order to create Elemental Hero Rampart Blaster, in face-up Defense Position. And guess what? My Rampart Blaster can attack while in Defense Position! It only has 1000 ATK then, but it’s still worth it. Elemental Hero Rampart Blaster! Rampart Barrage! (Rampart Blaster attacks, Chiro loses 1000 Life Points) I end my turn by placing a face-down!

Chiro: ARGH! Alright, this card can win it for me. (draws a card) And it just might have. I place one monster face-down and end my turn. My next card can win the match for me. And since I’m the main character of this show, it should be that card.

Chiro: 1350 LP. 1 card on the field, 1 card in his hand.

Jaden: 3050 LP.1 card on the field, 2 cards in his hand.

Field: Fusion Gate.

Jaden: (draws a card) Activate Field Spell! Skyskraper 2 - Hero City! It lets me Special Summon an Elemental Hero that was destroyed by battle! And I choose my Elemental Hero Necroshade! (Necroshade is summoned) Necroshade, attack Chiro’s face-down card!

Chiro: You attacked my Mystical Elf! Damage Reflection! (Jaden loses 400 Life Points)

Jaden: ARGH! I end my turn!

Chiro sighs.

Chiro: Your temprament may have cost you this battle, Jaden. You were so angry that my Mystical Elf was more defensive than your Necroshade, that you forgot to attack with Rampart Blaster.

Jaden: Damn!

Chiro: (draws a card) And I know just how to punish you. I tribute my Mystical Elf and my Messenger to summon The Creator in Defense Position! And guess what? I remove these two cards from play in order to summon my most favored mascot: My Chaos Emperor Dragon - Envoy of the End!

Chaos Emperor, destroy Rampart Blaster! (Rampart Blaster is destroyed) I end my turn!

Chiro: 1350 LP. 2 card on the field, 0 card in his hand.

Jaden: 2650 LP.1 cards on the field, 2 cards in his hand.

Field: Skyskraper 2 - Hero City

Jaden: (draws a card) I switch Necroshade to Defense Position. I end my turn.

Chiro: (draws a card) I activate the Creator’s effect, and discards my The Creator Incarnate to Special Summon my Regenerating Mummy from my graveyard! Then, Chaos Emperor, attack Jaden’s Necroshade! (Necroshade is destroyed) The Creator, attack Jaden directly!

(The Creator attacks, Jaden loses 2300 Life Points.) I will be nice to you now, Jaden. I will give you one turn. If you can beat me in that turn, you surely have potential. If you don’t, then you’re off the tournament in your first match. I end my turn.

Chiro: 1350 LP. 3 card on the field, 0 card in his hand.

Jaden: 350 LP.1 cards on the field, 3 cards in his hand.

Field: Skyskraper 2 - Hero City

Jaden: You shouldn’t have done that, Chiro. (draws a card) I activate the effect of Necroshade, to summon my Elemental Hero Bladedge from my hand! Then, I activate the effect of Skyscraper 2 to bring back my Necroshade! Bladedge, attack! Destroy The Creator!

(The Creator is destroyed, Chiro loses 300 Life Points) Your turn, Chiro.

Chiro: Good move, Jaden. But not good enough. I pay 1000 Life Points in order to activate the effect of Chaos Emperor Dragon! (All cards in both players’ hands and on the field are destroyed, Jaden loses 3000 Life Points. Chiro wins the duel.)

Jaden: How in the name of Flame Wingman did you do that?

Chiro: Didn’t I explain that in my last line? By paying 1000 Life Points, my Chaos Emperor Dragon can destroy all cards on both sides of the field, including our hands. Then you take 300 points of damage for every card destroyed that way.

Chiro is the winner! (I told you so)

Chapter 4: The good, the bad and the Anti-heroes

A while after Jaden had left Chiro alone, Chiro finally managed to climb down the almost infinite stairs of Pegasus’ castle. The island, which looked surprisingly like Duelist Kingdom, was full of duelists who played card games against each other for the sake of a loved one’s soul. Chiro sighed. This place is so cliché that it hurts. Suddenly, Chiro noticed a familiar face.

- Mark? Mark!

The familiar face, which belonged to an indeed familiar person, turned towards Chiro.

- Chiro! I thought I’d see you here.

He quickly overlooked Chiro’s face.

- Let me guess... Pegasus took your parents, didn’t he?

Chiro nodded.

- Such a stereotypic, yet effective thing to do. He took my parents too. You know why I consider it to be stereotypic now, don’t you, Chiro?

Chiro smiled at this very sad and depressing story.

- I actually have an idea, Mark. Let’s team up!

Mark looked very surprised.

- Team up? You mean, like you will follow me around and watch me duel?

Chiro shook his head.

- More like the other way around. I’m the main character, you know, and I should by the logic of all stories get most attention.

- Sure’s okay for me! I’m not really into this “main character” business that you keep talking about, but if I follow you, I sure will get more screentime.

Chiro sighed.

- This is a fanfic, not an anime. You will get as much screentime as a grapefruit.

- Oh, snap.

Suddenly, two loud voices interupted Chiro’s and Mark’s discussion.

- We are here to duel you! And to make this story’s keep running through!

Chiro and Mark turned around, where they saw two young boys, with identical clothes and equal hair. The only difference between them was the colour of the hair, where one of them had red hair and the other one had blue. Mark turns to Chiro.

- You sure this is not an anime? Because these guys look like they’re from one.

Chiro nodded.

- I thought so too first, but then I realized that was just a joke for Chapter Two.

-Mm’kay.

The boys stared angrily at Chiro and Mark.

- Since there are two of you and two of us...

- We shall have a Tag Team Duel, not a discuss!

Chiro sighed.

- A pair of Tag Team Duelists that rhyme. This fanfic’s writer must have absolutely no imagination at all.

Mark nodded.

- It’s seemes that we have to duel them now, for no actual reason.

- Doing anything else would sure be a treason. Wait a minute... Damn!

The boys stared even more angrily at Chiro and Mark.

- We are Zid and Thomas, Tag Team Prodigies!

- If we beat you too hard, we will send our apologies!

Chiro became angry.

- Let’s duel, goddamnit!

Chiro: 4000 LP, 5 cards in hand, 0 cards in field.

Zid(Blue-hair): 4000 LP, 5 cards in hand, 0 cards in field.

Mark: 4000 LP, 5 cards in hand, 0 cards in field.

Thomas(Red-hair): 4000 LP, 5 cards in hand, 0 cards in field.

Chiro: I begin! (draws a card) I place my Mystical Elf in face-up Defense Position, since that is appearently allowed! I place two cards face-down, and I end my turn!

Zid: (draws a card) Your elf will be destroyed by our severe beating!

Thomas: Whatever you think, this does not become repeating!

Zid: I summon D.D Warrior Lady in Attack Position!

Chiro starts to laugh.

Chiro: You actually just throw out a monster, just like that? You will be punished for your insolence. Activate Trap Card! (flips one of his face-down cards) Trap Hole!

Zid: My Lady is destroyed, but we shall succeed.

Thomas: You will lose due to your greed!

Zid: Goodbye my turn, farewell!

Thomas: You will burn, in hell!

Chiro: That made no sense.

Mark: Agreed. It was dense.

What will happen next? Will the dueling ever end for Mark and Chiro?

And seriously, will the cameos and stereotypes ever end?

Only one of these questions are answered in the next episode. I will leave it to you to discuss which one of them.

  • 3 weeks later...

As seen in the last chapter, Chiro has 1 monster on the field, his Mystical Elf, and one card face-down. Neither of the opponents have any cards. It’s currently Mark’s turn.

Mark:: (draws a card) I’ll summon The Forgiving Maiden in Defense Position! And then I will use my Spell Card! Goblin’s Secret Remedy! It gives me 600 Life Points!

(4000->4600) I’ll place one card face-down and call it a turn!

Thomas: (draws a card) I summon D.D Assailant in Defense Position! And then I activate this! D.D. Designator! It lets me declare 1 card name, and if either of you have it in your hand, you have to remove it from play. But if you don’t, I’ll have to remove a random card in my hand from play! And I choose Blue-Eyes White Dragon, since only Kaiba runs that crazy thing!

Chiro: Why would he choose a card he know that we doesn’t have? Then he shook his head. Mark did the same.

Chiro and Mark: We don’t have it.

Thomas smiled.

Thomas: Then I must remove a card from my hand!

He flipped his hand face-down, and randomly picked a card.

Thomas: And voila! It’s my D.D Scout Plane!

D.D. Scout Plane is removed from play.

Thomas: I place 1 card face-down, and end my turn!

Suddenly, D.D Scout Plane appeares on the field.

Mark & Chiro: What in the name of?

Thomas: It’s my Scout Plane’s effect! Whenever it’s removed from play, it comes back at the end of the same turn!

Round 2:

Chiro: 4000 LP, 3 cards in hand, 2 cards in field.

Zid(Blue-hair): 4000 LP, 5 cards in hand, 0 cards in field.

Mark: 4600 LP, 3 cards in hand, 2 cards in field.

Thomas(Red-hair): 4000 LP, 3 cards in hand, 2 cards in field.

Field Spell: None.

Chiro: My turn! (draws a card) I activate Soul Exchange! Mind if I borrow a monster, Thomas?

Thomas: Not really.

Chiro: Then I’ll use your Assailant and my Mystical Elf to summon The Creator in Defense Position!

Thomas: I don’t think so. Activate face-down Trap! D.D. Trap Hole! I can remove the Creator from play, but then I’ll also have to remove 1 of my monsters. But I’ll just choose my Scout Plane and it’ll be back!

(The Creator and D.D Scout Plane is removed from play.)

Chiro: Good move, but you won’t be too happy. Because I’ll activate my face-down! Return from the Different Dimension! I have to pay half of my Life Points (4000/2=2000) but I can bring back The Creator for this turn, in Attack Position! The Creator, attack Thomas directly! Final Touch of Creation!

(Thomas loses 2300 Life Points.)

Chiro: I’ll end my turn.

Thomas: That means I’ll get my Scout Plane back.

Chiro: Couldn’t care less.

Zid: My turn! (draws 1 card) And I’ll use Different Dimension Capsule to put a card from my deck into it and remove it from play. And I’ll choose my D.D Scout Plane!

(Zid’s D.D. Scout Plane is removed from play.)

Mark: Dude, you don’t have to tell us what card it is. You would be a total spaz to do that.

Zid: I was just going to warn you. But however, I’ll summon my D.D Survivor in Attack Position! And then I’ll attack Chiro directly!

Mark shook his head.

Mark: I don’t think so. Activate face-down! Magical Arm Shield! This means I can redirect the attack to one of your monsters!

Zid: But I don’t have any other monsters! Didn’t see that, did ya?

Mark: Who said it was one of your monsters?

Zid: You did.

Mark: Shut up! I’ll redirect your attack to Thomas’ D.D. Scout Plane!

Thomas: Holy Head!

D.D Scout Plane is destroyed, Thomas loses 1000 Life Points. (1700 – 1000=700)

Thomas: That wasn’t nice of you, Mark.

Zid: I’ll avenge you, lil’bro. I end my turn, which brings out my D.D Scout Plane!

Mark: I never intended to be nice! (draws a card) I’ll tribute my The Forgiving Maiden to bring out my Zaborg, the Thunder Monarch! Destroy D.D Scout Plane!

(Zid’s D.D Scout Plane is destroyed.)

Mark: Zaborg! Attack D.D Survivor! Lightning Smash!

(D.D Survivor is destroyed, Thomas loses 600 Life Points.) (700-600=100)

Mark: With that, I’ll end my turn.

Thomas: (draws a card) Yeah! I’ll play Pot of Greed, which gives me two more cards. And then comes my Banisher of the Light! It lets me remove any card that is sent to the graveyard from play! Then I’ll play Soul Absorbtion! Whenever a card is removed from play, I gain 500 Life Points! And then I play Card Destruction! So we’ll have to discard all of our hands, and then draw the same amount again!

All players discarded their hands, and drew new cards)

Thomas: And all cards are removed from play! Which means, I get 2000 Life Points!

(100 +2000= 2100) And then I summon my Gren Maju Da Eiza! (2000/2000) Gren Maju, attack Chiro directly!

(Chiro loses 2000 Life Points. 2000-2000=0. Chiro is out.)

Mark: Chiro!

Zid: It seems that we won.

Thomas: What a pun!

Suddenly, a voice could be heard from the skies.

????: What? Chiro lost? It can’t be! He’s the main charater, goddamnit! I’ll take Chiro’s place for now. And I will win!

Chiro: You can’t do that! That’s cheating!

????: Fine, then. But you’ll hear from me again. And that time you will NOT be prepared!

Chiro and Mark turned to Zid and Thomas.

- It’s only fair that you would get some our Shadow Binds.

- And since we both have two, we’ll give you one from each of us.

Thomas nodded.

- That would be good.

- Gives me a good mood.

Zid and Thomas then turned away from Chiro and Mark, and they disappeared into the large crowd.

Goody, the fourth wall was only cracked. Now I have next work to do to prepare for next chapter.

But, just one question. Kaiba owns all of the BEWDs in the world. So how did Thomas (good job blatantly ripping off Dox, BTW) get a hold of one?

Chapter 6: Shadow Binds: The Abridged Series

Chiro walked angrily down a steep hill.

- I can’t believe I just lost to someone who will only appear in one episode! I’m the main character, for Wicked God’s sake!

Mark, who had fallen behind as he tried to find the source of the strange voice, ran up to Chiro.

- It’s not that bad. I mean, it’s not like you’re out of the tournament or something.

- But I could have been!

- That’s not the point!

Suddenly, a voice appeared from behind.

- I’m here to duel the one called Chiro!

Chiro turned around, and saw something he would never forget. A man dressed in a giant Kuriboh Suit with his Duel Disk attached to his left arm.

- That would be me, giant Furball.

- I’m no Furball! I’m Not-So-Little-Kuriboh!

Both Mark and Chiro stared at the giant furball.

- Say what?

The Furball became angry.

- Argh! Let’s duel, for Wicked’s sake!

NSLK: 8000 Life Points, 5 cards in hand, 0 cards on field.

Chiro: 8000 Life Points, 5 cards in hand, 0 cards on field.

NSLK: (draws a card) I begin by playing Tristan Taylor in face-up Attack Position!

(4|2000|0| EARTH| Warrior/Side-Character|When this card declares an attack, decrease the ATK of this card by 500 points during damage calculation only.)

And then I activate Semi-Plot Device! If I have a Side-Character monster on the field, I can search through my deck and find an Equip Card to equip to my monster! And I choose my Tristan Taylor’s Voice!

(Equip Spell Card| You can only equip this card to “Tristan Taylor” on your side of the field. Negate the effect of the equipped monster and increase its original ATK by 1000 points. If this card is destroyed, decrease the original ATK of the monster by 1000 points as long as this card remains in the graveyard.)

So then his attack rises to 3000 points! Then, I’ll end my turn by placing two cards face-down!

Chiro: What in the world was that?

NSLK: *smiles* This is a Yugioh: The Abridged Series deck, a deck centered around monster cards made to resemble the characters from YTAS.

Chiro: That’s just dumb. Who would want to make cards based on a freaking anime?

NSLK: Pegasus, appearently.

Chiro: (draws a card) I’ll Set a monster in face-down defense position and two cards face-down. Then, I’ll end my turn.

Round 2:

NSLK: 8000 Life Points, 3 cards in hand, 2 cards on field.

Chiro: 8000 Life Points, 3 cards in hand, 3 cards on field.

NSLK: My turn! (draws a card) I’ll summon Joey Wheeler in face-up Attack Position!

(4/1500/1000/EARTH/Warrior/Main Character| This card can not be destroyed as a result of battle. )

Chiro: Kinda weak for a main character.

NSLK: But there’s more! All Main Characters gain 500 ATK and DEF points for every Main Character and Side Character on the field apart from themselves! (1500/1000 -> 2000/1500)

Chiro: Oh, snap.

NSLK: Tristan Taylor, attack Chiro’s face down monster!

Chiro: Don’t think so. I play the Mystical Space Typhoon in my hand to destroy Tristan Taylor’s Voice! (3000 -> 2000 -> 1000) And then I activate my other trap! Magical Arm Shield! That redirects the attack to Joey Wheeler!

NSLK: NO!

(Tristan Taylor is destroyed, NSLK loses 1000 Life Points. (8000-1000=7000) Joey Wheeler’s ATK go down to 1500.)

NSLK: It’s still my turn! Joey Wheeler, attack Chiro’s face-down monster!

Chiro: It’s Mystical Elf, which has 2000 DEF points! Deflect damage!

(NSLK loses 500 Life Points.(7000-500=6500))

NSLK: ARGH! I’ll end my turn.

Mark: Way to go, Chiro! Send that furball to card games heaven!

Chiro: I will. (draws a card) I sacrifice Mystical Elf to bring out my Ryu Kokki!

Ryu Kokki, attack Joey Wheeler! Dreadclaw!

(NSLK loses 900 Life Points.(6500 - 900 =5600) Joey Wheeler is destroyed.)

NSLK: How in the world? Joey Wheeler can’t be destroyed in battle!

Chiro: *sigh* Ryu Kokki’s effect enables it to destroy any monster it attacks, as long as that monster is a Warrior or a Spellcaster. I’ll end my turn by placing one card face-down.

Round 3:

NSLK: 5600 Life Points, 3 cards in hand, 1 card on field.

Chiro: 8000 Life Points, 2 cards in hand, 1 card on field.

NSLK: (draws a card) I summon my Yugi Moto in face-up Attack Position! (4|1200|800|LIGHT|Spellcaster/Main Character| Once per turn, during your Standby Phase, you gain 1000 Life Points. If there is another Main Character-type monster on the field, this card can not be destroyed by a card effect. ) And then, I activate Plot Device! (Spell Card. You can only activate this card when there is a Main Character-type monster on the field. Search your deck for an Equip Spell Card which can only be equipped to a Main Character-type monster and add it to your hand.) And I’ll choose The Millenium Puzzle! (Equip Spell Card. This card can only be equipped to “Yugi Moto” on your side of the field. Increase the ATK/DEF of the equipped monster by 800 points.)(1200/1000->2000/1800)

Chiro: Strong card, but it can’t beat Ryu Kokki.

NSLK: Not alone, perhaps! But I’ll activate Reborn the Monster! (Spell Card. Special Summon 1 Main Character-type or Side-Character type monster from your graveyard to your side of the field.) And I’ll bring back my Joey Wheeler! (4/1500/1000/EARTH/Warrior/Main Character |This card can not be destroyed as a result of battle. ) And with that said, their effects activate, raising their ATK and DEF! (2000/1800->2500/2100, 1500/1000-> 2000/1500)

Chiro: Oh my!

NSLK: Prepare to suffer defeat!
