Been there, done that, caught 'em all when Pokemon D/P was at least recent news. It's been a year and a half since it came out now. Unless you just bought the game a week ago (because the game is honestly pretty ****ing easy, and shouldn't take over 5 or 6 days to beat all 8 gym leaders) or you lost interest halfway through it (since everything past 151 is pretty uninspired) you should have beaten the E4 a LONG time ago.

Yeah, I bead 5 leaders on the first day of its release.

the other 3 the next day

pwnd the pokemon league the day after that and caught all catchable pokemon the day after.

2 weeks later, found an AR, got me the last 3 pokes and I finished the game.

Now I create and auction off pokemon. no charge.

I also have 139 Pokemon in my Dex. I may sound like a n00b but keep in mind that I got this game around 2 months ago and it took me a long time to figure out which part of Mt. Coronet to go to to get to Spear Pillar and now I can't get through Victory Road.

Progress Pearl - Just beat the E4 (Waiting to start Battle Zone)

Diamond - Beat the lot in terms of trainers.

Victory Road is not really a pain, try what I like doing in LG/FR Rock Tunnel in the Dark =D. I end up playing the get out of there before I run out of PP.

I take a few weeks to beat a game, coz I train to Lv 70 before looking at the Gym 8.

  • 2 weeks later...

I beat everything in Pearl including the Battle Zone and everything in under 12 hours. Also completed the poke'dex of all 493 poke'mon. It's a horribly easy game. But, I just re-found it about a week ago and restarted it. Now I'm playing through really slowly. Anyways, I'm having fun and running back and forth between the 3rd and 4th gyms. I haven't beaten either one. Even though I could.

The pokemon games are too easy. Once you have the basic gist of it all, its not hard to determine how to defeat an opponent. Basic knowledge, over-power them, TONS of times to heal and revive yourself, or attribute advantage.

Anything else over that is overkill. Yes, it leads to quicker and more successful battles in the long-run, but that's the basics of what you can use to defeat them.

I've beaten every game without having to use cheats (the first time around) then after that I blow through the game, catch every pokemon I can, level them all up, and get them as strong as possible to take on any opponents I can.

I am thinking about restarting the game again though and taking my wife on. I do enjoy doing that :D
