Respect? Is It Lost?

Respect is an earn thing, not a neutral thing.

 

General kindness is a more-or-less a better problem, whilst respect is restricted to those who have shown some sort of respectful ideals.

 

I don't respect a hell-of-alot of people, mainly because:

 

*We haven't crossed paths.

 

*Haven't talked, therefore ideals cannot be respected.

 

*They do things that just blatantly loose respect.

 

 

Kindness and decency need to be separated from respect.

 

As another note, respect is given based upon what people perceive to be respectful.

I find logical and generous thinking to be respectful.

Others find humor to be respectful.

 

Saying respect should be generic is flawed, as those deemed unworthy of respect from you as an individual shouldn't have it by any enforced nature.

Luke-Fon-Fabre, you've always been a bit disrespectful to I.

I don't think anyone ectually treated me like a newbie, because I lurked for aboslutely ages, saw that going into realistic cards was just asking for trouble, and headed for fanfics, where I could hide among the vast amounts of inept writers until my post count improved enough for me to advanvce into the other sections of the forum.

 

Incidentally, I couldn't care less about my reputation. What purpose do reps actually serve?

And mods etc arent gonna help by enforcing rules and what have you. Its the attitude of the community as a whole. All we can do is set up the nice domino's and hope they fall over all so nicely.....

And it's only normal that a person with low reps will have bad reputation and no respect. Okay pupil did spam, but he wasn't such a bad member. He was treated like dirt.

Alo Luke you know respect cannot be forced, people have the right to respect or hate people.... It can't be forced and cannot be changed... Also reputation isn't the isn't the issue here, i won't just respect you because you have a high reputation nor will i dislike you for having a low reputation....

 

The thing that's causing the lack of respect isn't because of the rule, it's because people have become less tolerant and we oldie's are refusing to allow the new members in and there's a continues opposition of opinions that's fueling the arguments...

Frunk, before he left, said that the good old days were lost. He said to deal with it because they weren't coming back. I've lost my interest with this site. I'm only ever appearing in the GD Section. Sometimes in General and rarely here. Respect has gone. I don't know why. It probably has something to do with the mass of new members here, who think they are better than everyone. Don't get me wrong, we shouldn't treat them like crap. I mean just because you have one star doesn't mean your 5 years old. I don't think respect will come back. You can try, but I think removing the rep system will have no effect. I just have one thing to say to new members though. If you think you're so good, then prove it. New members want respect, they should earn it. Same with everyone. I don't respect Crab Helmet even though he is a mod. This is because I've seen him post about 2 times because I'm never in his section. I know he's a good mod and if I knew him then I would probably respect him. Luke, I respect you because I've seen you around alot. That is why I meant no disrespect by that PM I sent you a couple of days ago. I respect Cyber. He's not a mod and he's been banned a couple of times, but he's my friend. Respect is a rarity these days. You hardly ever get a new member that doesn't break one rule in his/her first week. I think new members should earn respect. As for old members who have already earned it, it's not much but, you have my respect.

and I also, hate the fact that people only see some members with "respect" becuase of high posts, or points, and reps. You may not believe it, but i do.. In fact i've discourage it, even when people were doing it to me.

It's one of the reasons, you haven't seen me make cards, in months..

I try to respect everyone here, but I tend to slip sometimes. I admit that I have my favorites on here, but I do my best to help newcomers when I can - unless I'm either in a bad mood or the cards/comments are just THAT bad. :?
