ok, this is an invitational contest that will test the card making skills of everyone who is in it. in this contest, there will start out with 8 competetors, who will be widled away down to 1 champion in 3 rounds of battle. in each round, the competetors will be randomly paired up, and the two in each group will battle each other for their spot in the next round.

 

the cards that you make for each round will depend on the challenge that is given for the round, which will be anounced at the end of the previous round (for round 1 it will be announced once ive got all the competetors wrangled up :D).

 

as for the prizes:

 

1st place: +2 rep and 50 points

2nd place : +2 rep and 25 points

3rd place: +1 rep and 15 points

4th place: +1 rep and 10 points

 

so if you can pass through the 1st round, you're gaurenteed atleast 1 rep and 10 points.

 

now then, as for who will be invited to this little party of mine:

 

you may have noticed that ive been giving away "special prizes" in my last few competitions. well, thouse are the invitations to compete in this. i will be pming the 8 invitees to makesure they notice this, and if they accept my challenge, they should post their response here.

 

if i do not hear back from a competor by midnight august 17 2008, then their spot will be up for grabs to everyone else who wishes to enter. to get the spot, you must pm me one card that would fit the requirements of the competion they won their invitation from and that would beat the 5th place card of that competition (i will post what the requirements were and what the 5th place card was graded as for each person who does not accept). Also please note, that there will be a 5 points fee for anyone who wishes to try to take the place of a non accepted invitee. first person to make a card that beast 5th place will gain the spot.

congradulations to you all so far. but this round will test your abilitities as a cardmaker. so be warned, do not take this task lightly:

 

so then, for round one.

 

very often, things in this modern world are inspired by similar things in the ancient world, this is especially applicable in architechure.

 

so, for this task, you will be creating cards in this modern world, based on something that was in the ancient world. to be more specific, each of you will make one card based on one of the seven wonders of the ancient world, which are...

Temple of Artemis at Ephesus

Mausoleum of Maussollos at Halicarnassus

Colossus of Rhodes

Lighthouse of Alexandria

 

no competetor may make a card based on the same wonder as any other, so do decide as to who gets which wonder, it will be on a first come first serve basis. first person to post that he wants a certain wonder will get it, and then no other competetor may chose that wonder.

 

now then, for the specific card rules.

 

the card you make can be any type of card (effect monster, magic, trap, fusion, whatever you want) except for a normal monsters (just too boring)

 

the picture on the card must be a picture of the wonder you have chosen. and i would also suggest that you read up on the wonder you have chosen. links to each individual wonder are located here:

how to advance to the next round:

this challenge will be consisting of 2 1v1 battles for a spot in the finals. who faces who will be decided by which wonder each of you has chosen, so i will reveal the matchups only after you have all decided on your wonder. so, the person who makes the best card out of each battle will advance to the finals, and face off in the toughest challenge of this competition.

 

end dates:

wonder choosing: August 22, 2008 at 6:00 eastern us time. if you have not chosen a wonder by the end of this time, then i will randomly choose a wonder for you.

 

card submission: August 25, 2008 at 12:00 eastern us time. if you have not submitted a card by this time, then you will be automatically disqualified from the competition.

ok then, it is now time for the final round.

the remaining competetors are:

Now then, this final task is in honor of the olympic closing ceremony today.

 

the task: make 2 effect monster cards based on 2 different athletes on the USA Olympics teams. The athletes can be related to any sport. Also, their effects should be based on their sport or what they have accomplished in the olympics (please no making fun of athletes by making an effect based on their getting no medals. Then, make 1 equip spell card based on any kind of equipment one of the athletes you have chosen uses. Next, make a field spell card based on the area where the OTHER ATHLETE YOU CHOSE (so not the same as the equip spell card) competes in his or her sport. Finally, you must make 1 trap card of any type that fits with any of the athletes you chose for your monster cards.

 

So, you have to make 5 cards, 2 effect monster, 1 equip spell, 1 field spell, and 1 trap.

 

there is only 1 restriction on the athletes you chose besides they must be USA Olympic: no Michael Phelps. if i let you use him, you both would and you know it :P

 

also one more quick rule. if you see that the other competetor has posted a card, please be a fair sport and do not steal the card in any way. meaning using a similar effect for the same athlete or a different athlete.

OCG

Effects

pic/name/effect coherence

pic quality

relationship between the monsters, spell, and trap cards

coherence to the rules

 

this round will end August 28th at 12 noon or when all the cards have been posted here.

lol i'll accept

 

please read the entire original post before you jump into a competition.

 

if you do that then you will see that only the people who received a special prize from one of my last two competitions can compete (a list of the people is in the post)

 

if you want to enter into the tornament, then youll have to wait until there is a person who has declined or not responded to my challenge, then you will have to do what is said in my original post to claim the spot.

so, its time to get those slots filled.

 

all four of the invitee's won their spot from the field spell competition, so if you want one of the spots then youll have to pm me a field spell (along w/ a fee of 5 points per card)

 

the first 4 people to send me a card that scores an 83 or higher (the score of 5th place) will be given the 4 spots in the contest. here is the grading chriteria:

So I guess I missed the boat on this one because I didn't send you 5 points? Wow...that's rather hilarious but it's your contest so run it as you see fit. I just won't be here to win it, that's all. Just remember...Patience is a virtue. ;)
