As I created this poll I figure I should answer.

I will state that in this case it depends on the moves that each pokemon knows, and the type that Arceus is in the battle.

Each pokemon has an equal chance at winning, however Arceus and Darkrai have the best shots of all.

1) A Fist Plate equipped to Arceus, with some Ice and Electric moves learned would decimate this opposition. Dragon-types are weak to both ice and electric, while Palkia's Water-type makes him doubly weak to Electric, as does Dialga's Steel typing. The Fist Plate gives Arceus the advantage over Darkrai in the sense that Dark-type attacks do not work against Fighting-type pokemon. Attach a berry to keep him from staying asleep to Darkrai's attacks and teach him one good Fighting type move and Arceus has the match in hand with 1 hit KO's all across the board.

2) Palkia's speed makes it a formidable opponent, and its Spacial Rend is powerful without the drawback of recharging the next turn. With some Dragon-type moves and a high defense and special defense, Palkia can last a couple turns in a match. Awesome stats boost his chances but in a tie stat-wise with Dialga, he is a far cry from standing out amongst oobers.

3) Dialga's dual Steel/Dragon typing makes him formidable in any match that doesn't host ice or thunder type moves. It will take a long hard match, and probably cost many pokemon to take this powerhouse down. His Roar of Time, while powerful, has the drawback of recharging, making him vulnerable for 1 turn, also making this attack less desirable for an mid-battle attack and more of a finishing move.

4) Darkrai has to come in second out of the four. His Dark Void attack allows him to put multiple pokemon to sleep at once, if it hits both at once. Leaving about a 50/50 chance that both pokemon will fall asleep to his attack leaves this attack almost a wasted effort when compared to Hypnosis. His ability allows you to sap your opponent's HP out of any sleeping pokemon, with the added attack of Nightmare thrown in, you have the opportunity to deal 3 attacks worth of damage per turn...if the pokemon falls asleep. Being a Dark-type Darkrai is massively weak to Fighting-type pokemon and attacks, leaving him open to almost any type of pokemon (90% of pokemon can learn a fighting-type move). His Dark Pulse attack takes 2 turns, protecting your Darkrai for 1 of them, and then dealing damage the 2nd, however by this time, your opponent realizes when you will be vulnerable, and if they are slower and can stand the attack, your Darkrai is open for a fatal fighting-type move, or any combination of effect and move techniques that could ultimately cause his demise.

Ho-oh would win.

In response:

Ho-oh's flying/fire type gives it possibly the worst outlook in a battle against any of these oobers selected.

1) Its fire-typing gives it a definite weakness to Palkia with any strong water-type attack.

2) Its flying typing gives it a weakness against Dialga's steel attacks.

3) Its dual typing is a no-go against Darkrai's single typing and multiple-typing of attacks. Plus its 3 attack for 1 abilities give it the thumbs up in this match.

4) Arceus with a water-typing or an electric-typing plate and Judgement, or the equivalent typings attacks.

Ho-oh also has mediocre defense and attack stats as well and only a handful of useful battle techniques that yield damage.

Don't even get me started on Lugia...

I'll go home tonight and get my friend code posted on here. The internet where we live is spotty at best but I would like to attempt some of these battles.

The following teams are prepared and ready for a battle:

Oober Team #1 (6 Pokemon - All Oobers)

Regular Team #2 (6 Pokemon - All Regulars)

Teams in preparation:

Remaining 980 Pokemon

pffft

Arceus would obviously win' date=' he's the Pokemon God. One hit with his move Judgement and they're done for.

So remember kids, Arceus=WIN

What about Mew? He made all the Pokemon... =/

True, but Mew isn't that great in the games :?

no one would win.

pffft

Arceus would obviously lose' date=' he's the Pokemon nerd. One hit with his move Judgement and they're done for.

Magno, if you are going to edit his post, edit the whole thing.

Why would it say Arceus would win and then at the bottom say Arceus=lose?

Fact of the matter is, Arceus does have a good chance at winning, better than the rest most would say, but he also has the worst odds of winning out of the three.

If you are entering into a battle 1 on 1, one pokemon each, and you don't know that you are going up against a Dialga, Palkia, or Darkrai, and you have the wrong plate equipped, you are done for.

There are multiple plates, and if any of the ones equipped to him are the wrong one when going into battle against these three at any time, he's the one who will lose, even with Judgement.

I myself have taken down a few Arceus because they had the wrong plate equipped (or no plate at all) and had the advantage to their type and thankfully, a strong enough pokemon.

Just keep in mind, no pokemon is immortal against all pokemon. If you know how to use them, any pokemon, in the right matching, can win...except maybe Magikarp.

I was hoping for a bit more of a comeback than "because fourth generation fails".

No statistical information to back your opinion.

No battle strategies, typings, attacks, etc.

Tell you what, you breed up an entire team of Ho-Oh on Diamond or Pearl, get them ready for a match.

I'll take you on with just 4 pokemon. Arceus, Dialga, Palkia, and Darkrai.

We'll see who wins.

I'm sure all future posters already know its going to be the 4 over the 6 ho-oh's but it'll be entertaining to say the least.

I was joking....I said that due to the lack of originality that the pokemon teamed showed when bringing out the 4th gen. If I had to choose one I'd choose Arceus....even thought using legendary pokemon shows a lack of skill.
