Logically speaking, like a third of those people would never be in the Akatsuki, because it's a different time line and style. Offtopic: It is so damn hard to download Death Note episodes that are subbed... There are some websites that have them for easy, but they have it in a huge mess of random subbers, and I don't like merging in between different subbing groups every two episodes. Throws me off. Seriously. Nothing different. No wonder I felt that after reading the manga and watching it, it felt bland and boring.
