Execution vs Life Sentence

10 bucks says that this topic has already been done, but laziness prevails. Always.

I don't have any shiny quotes or links or T-shirts to link you all to this time around. All I want to do here is get a discussion going on Execution vs Life Sentence for major crimes (murder and such).

They both obviously have their pro's and con's. Execution makes damn sure that the person doesn't escape from prison to commit more crimes, and no tax payer dollars get wasted for the person rotting away in a cell. On the other hand, many will argue "Two wrongs don't make a right", and some believe that people can be rehabilitated to not commit such crimes again. Execution, removes any chance of getting more information from the guy, e.g. accomplices. Life in prison, chance the guy escapes and kills again, more expensive over time.

Anyways, I'm droning on. Discuss!

The Death Sentence now days seems to mean less and less. Suicide bombers, freedom fighters and soldiers are all willing to die for a worthy cause. If a person finds the cost of death is a small price to pay for what benefits they think they'll receive, death might not phase them. Death isn't seen as much of a punishment anymore, except when innocent people are dying at the hands of executioners.

Death Penalty as a required form of punishment is unethical. If given the choice, it would depend on the circumstances. If I was like 70, id go with life sentence because its not that much longer, and once your dead, there goes perception, perhaps come back as a fox afterwards. Fun fun :)
