Exiro
This is not a game of luck. Rather' date=' it is one based entirely around having the right card at the right time.[/quote'] Is this line holy and should it kept in mind by every YGO player, is it just how Matt looks at this game or doesn't it make sense at all? Matt Peddle is 1 of Metagame's staff. Discuss.
~ P O L A R I S ~
I think he should've put the S on the end of card, it's rare that 1 card can dig you out of a tough spot.

「tea.leaf」
Peddle speaks the truth. Heck, it applies to life too: success is doing the right things, in the right places, at the right times.
Skuldur
so the this game is not about luck, it's about LUCK. o_0
JesusofChaos™
Having the right card at the right time is not luck. It takes skill to know when to play cards and when to keep them.
Master Hyperion
This is another reason why Metagame shouldn't be worshipped as a bible. Heck' date=' it applies to life too: success is doing the right things, in the right places, at the right times.[/quote'] Except it has nothing to do with luck. It is about making decisions in life. jungle
agree at Jesus. Anyway it should be like - This is not a game of luck. Rather, it is one based entirely around finding the right card at the right time.
Thegargoylevine
It's a game of FUN, and it should be kept that way.
JesusofChaos™
^ Incorrect competitive play is the heart and soul of the game. It strives to create better decks. If there was no competitive play there would be no point to playing as you would only have your friends to play. Eventually that becomes boring. Tournements provide a fresh environement to play in. Without competitive play the TCG would be dead by now.

JesusofChaos™
Yes competition can be fun. But you when you go you have to have put serious thought into your deck. Losing all your rounds isnt fun.
Guest Supreme Gamesmaster
Notice:This is not a game of luck. Rather' date=' it is one based entirely around finding the right cards at the right time.[/quote']That is not luck. That's intelligence, strategy, and judgment — in short, skill. Obviously, the influence of luck is ubiquitous, but...You got to know when to hold 'emKnow when to fold 'emKnow when to walk awayAnd know when to runor you can't possibly win; hence' date=' it's more a game of strategy than of luck. The game is about using what you have to get what you need, and it's also about conserving your resources. Now for another statement about poker that applies even more to Yu-Gi-Oh!:The secret to survivingIt's knowing what to throw away and knowing what to keep.Because every hand's a winner and every hand's a loser
Exiro
This is not a game of luck. Rather' date=' it is one based entirely around having the right card at the right time.[/quote'] That's pretty much the exact same thing. To be honest, yeah, pretty much, but not completely. You need to have the right card at the right time by making sure you won't lose them before the time you need them, but you can only lose them by having them already, and AFAIK, you do that either by drawing them or by searching for them through the effects of other cards. And drawing cards is the most common form of getting the cards. Not a single duel can take place without drawing cards. Since the cards you draw are random because the decks are shuffled, the way to get the cards you will need at some point in the duel is though luck. The basis of this game is formed by luck, and skill is needed after that.If you do not accept that you have to have luck to win, you will have to cheat your way to victory. However, the rest of that paragraph was such a good word of advice, but strange enough, that article completely disappeared.
