I had a Yoshi effect all written out, but I had trouble finding good pics of all 8 Yoshi colors.

"If this card declares an attack on a Monster that has fewer Level Stars than its own, negate the attack, destroy the monster (ignoring any effect it may have on this card), and add 1 "Egg" Counter to this card (max 6). You may choose to discard a number of "Egg" Counters. For each one you remove, target a Monster and decrease its ATK or DEF (depending on Position) by half this card's ATK. Destroy it if this value is already 0, negating any effects that involve destroying this card in the process. This card is also considered a FAIRY-type."

I planned for all the Yoshis to have the same effect, but have different ATK and DEF. The Black and White Yoshis would be strongest of the eight and have 6 Level Stars to the other colors' 4 (seeing as they are "better" than the other Yoshis in-game) but they would be removed from play instead of being sent to the Graveyard (again, they disappear after you use them once and you can't get them back - EVEN WITH THE WHITE SHY-GUY).

Is it not obvious? ;)

EDIT: I DID plan to also make fruit cards that powered up the Yoshis as a whole, but preserved the "favorite fruit" mechanic of Yoshi's Story.

(For anyone planning to make these, Green prefers watermelon, Red and Pink like Apple, both Blues like Grapes, and Yellow loves Bananas. Black and White Yoshis "prefer" everything, and are the only Yoshis that like peppers.)

EDIT 2: One more thing: before we actually create any cards, we might want to create some Archetypes (like "Amazoness" or "Elemental Hero") to save on card text. "Yoshi" is an obvious one, but how about "Shyguy" or "Koopa" (or even some non-Monster Archetypes like "Yoshi Fruit" or "Baby")?

ARCHEtypes. I agree with you that made-up types are bad, but Archetypes aren't really types in and of themselves.

Yu-Gi-Oh Wikia defines archetype as: "A group of cards with one defining attribute, and typically have one or two words in the card name signifying that Archetype." For example, most/all of the Elemental Heroes are Warrior-type, but they have the words "Elemental Hero" in the name, so they can be targeted specifically by any card that says "[do x thing] to a 'Elemental Hero' monster." See what I mean?

Here's an example of a card that supports an Archetype.

Well first, we need a title for our Booster Pack. I'm thinking...

World of the Yoshis

Also, we need a Set ID template, like YW091-#####. (That is a suggestion, but I'm open to others; # is a wild card used to differentiate the cards.)

Finally, WE NEED CARD ART!!! If anyone has any artistic ability plus a way to get your photos up in (mostly) good quality is encouraged to contact me or any of the other card makers to volunteer via this topic or e-mail. (Do you believe that there is only one useable pic of White Shy Guy, and even that one's crappy quality AT BEST?).

What I'd like Yoshi to be like in the next SSB:

  • Make his neutral-B a tether that can eat items.
  • Make his side-B chargeable, like the Spin Dash.
  • Add more versatility to his Up-B, like quick-cancelling.
  • Make a couple of his smashes more powerful but slower.
  • Increase his weight a bit.

Also, if people post Yoshi pics then I might make some cards :D

My point exactly, Kizzi. Blank cards don't look professional, now do they? I'd like the artwork to have a consistent feel (done by the same artist or in the same art style); but we'll use random pics if we have to. People have made worse Yu Gi Oh Cards here! ;)

Also, if you take a look a few posts back, I suggested some of my own buffs for Brawl Yoshi.

I saw, that's what gave me the idea. I'll dig it up and comment on it...

Edit:

I would make B Egg Throw and Side B Egg Lay (which would not only have Tether Recovery and a little bit of range' date=' but be able to eat items much like Chomp or the Inhales).

[/quote']

I don't like the B Egg Throw much, as the bounce wouldn't fit with the direction. I approve of the item eating.

Up B would be Turbo Tulip' date=' which would work a lot like Diddy's Up B, but damaging until he hits the ground (or bottom KO zone, as the case may be).

[/quote']

I'm neutral about this. I'd keep his specials egg-based, but it's not a bad decision.

If his recovery options would need to be nerfed to make this happen' date=' I would make his Flutter Jump require Up to be held (if Tap Jump was enabled) or a Jump button was being mashed to recover like it does now

[/quote']

True, but holding up wouldn't be hard. So, he might have too much recovery =/

.

I would also give the "hop" effect that Egg Throw now has into his Down Air (hey' date=' MK can glide ALL THE WAY around even the largest of

[/quote']

Like I said, probably too much recovery. Meta Knight's a lightweight, so chances are he'll be knocked off the sides anyway.

Hmm... you bring up some good points, Kizzi; I really think it would be hard for people to stop in midair and hit B, though; maybe put the tether into his grab and give both tongue-lashings ability to "eat"? Also, forgive me for forgetting to mention this, but when I said move Egg Toss to B, I forgot to mention how I'd remake the move.

I would:

  • ...make it fly in a direction chosen by the Control Stick rather than its current sketchy aiming system.
  • ...make it Hold Chargeable to increase range and slightly increase power. Tapping a direction or releasing B would release the egg.
  • ...have an aiming sight reminiscent of the ones from the Yoshi games appear to indicate the general trajectory of the egg. ;)
