yeah you could say that...you don't want to know what happens if Blake lost control over the Crystal Beasts

 

Also, Marin is going to pull out everything for his duel with Clair.

And the tournament is just a ploy for a grander thing.

Hint: It is related to how Venus's legs recovered so fast. (see ch 44-45)

interesting,but I'm not planning to twist the story that much into 5d's (though someone there will make an entrance here due to the Crimson Dragon's coming)

[spoiler=Ch 47-Destiny of the Psychics]

Previously on Yu-Gi-Oh Key of the Mind

This is the final duel of the Special Cup tournament funded by Industrial Illusions, which is awkward since it rarely held tournaments & its President’s daughter had been missing & still not found. Sure, we’ve seen several good shows so far along the way, but I now fear for what’s about to happen…the Overmind had installed 3 of his agents in there, 2 of them fell to Clair, while she is currently dueling the last one standing in the finals itself. But now, Marin has summoned 4 of the legendary 5 Dragons that only Signers could use. When he summoned that last dragon, a sudden storm unexpectedly came into the party & I doubt that it’s anything normal about this…

 

Back at the Stadium where storm clouds brewed over a duel between Clair & Marin, Clair feared for her life as she stood facing the 5 Dragons themselves, Stardust Dragon (2500/2000), Red Dragon Archfiend (3000/2000), Black Rose Dragon (2400/1800) & Ancient Fairy Dragon. All she had for defense was a Magical Android in Attack Mode (2400/1700) & 3 face-down cards. While Marin had no face-down cards left due to his rampant summonings, his offense covered up his defense.

“Oh no! Clair’s gonna get herself clobbered by those dragons!” exclaimed Miora, “Even if she avoids one of them, the others will just tear her apart! I can’t believe it must end this!”

“On the contrary, even though this situation looks hopeless for Clair, there’s actually a loophole in Marin’s plans,” explained Norman, “Ancient Fairy Dragon’s first effect prevents the Battle Phase & thus all attacks. During the End Phase, this will trigger Red Dragon Archfiend’s effect to destroy all monsters that didn’t attack…”

“In short, every last one of those 4 Dragons,” inferred Marco.

“Yeah, but there’s still a Stardust Dragon that can destroy the Dragon Archfiend, but still keep the other 2 Dragons on the field,” continued Norman, “but the heavy hitter & protector will be gone.”

“Like I had said earlier on, I couldn’t battle this turn due to my Ancient Fairy Dragon,” said Marin, “but I can fix that with this, the Spell Card called Instant Attack. This allows me to conduct a Battle Phase this turn & all monsters must attack no matter what.”

“Well, I guess that ruined the loophole Norman’s just mentioned,” said Marco, “and Clair’s doomed unless she does something fast!”

“Attack her Android with Absolute Power Force!” commanded Marin as Red Dragon Archfiend’s claw burnt with flames as it gripped Magical Android & destroyed her.

“That’s it! I play Telepathic Power!” declared Clair, “this card activates through the demise of a Psychic monster & destroys its murderer & I can regain a few Life Points!”

“Did you just say ‘destroy’?” wondered Marin, “I counter that with Stardust Dragon’s Victim Sanctuary!”

A wave of energy was fired towards Red Dragon Archfiend, but Stardust Dragon blocked the blast with its wings & vanished into stardust.

“But your field’s all clear now! Ancient Fairy Dragon, attack her directly with your Light of Harmonia!” commanded Marin as Ancient Fairy Dragon fired a burst of dawn light at Clair, only to be blocked off by an unseen barrier.

“Your Life Points…they have increased!” exclaimed Marin in disbelief, “but how?”

“Because I had just played this on time,” said Clair as she held up a Trap Card in her hand, “recognise this?”

“That’s Draining Shield, a Trap Card that can absorb Battle Damage from 1 attack,” said Marin, “ok, you got me there, but not this time! Go, Black Rose Flare!”

Black Rose Dragon breathed out a blast of rose petals that burnt Clair’s very body.

“So you have escaped your fate of defeat for now, but I will pursue you to the ends of the Earth to defeat you!” said Marin, “I place 2 cards face-down & end my turn, in which my Stardust Dragon returns to me now!”

Suddenly, Stardust Dragon appeared in a burst of blue light & roared loudly. (2500/2000)

“Draw,” said Clair as she drew out Psychic Commander.

“Everything’s set now. Let’s find some answers now!” thought Clair.

“I begin by playing my face-down card, Lost Star Descent!” announced Clair, “This card Special Summons a Synchro Monster from my graveyard in Defense Mode, so revive from the dead, my Magical Android!”

The feminine android reappeared & knelt on the ground, holding her staff defensively. (2400/1700~2400/0)

“Too bad its Defense will be reduced to 0 & it can’t be shifted to Attack Mode, also its effect will be invalid” said Marin, “and my dragons can just destroy her on my next turn.”

“Provided that she actually remained on the field,” said Clair, “because I summon my Tuner Monster, Psychic Commander!” (1400/800)

A soldier-like being on a floating tank appeared. The being turned to face Clair & saluted her in respect.

“Let me guess, you are about to conduct a Synchro Summon, yes?” said Marin, “and a Level 8 too. Most likely your Thought Ruler Archfiend! But I activate my face-down card, Star Level Crash!”

The face-down card opened, revealing a card that showed Stardust Dragon & 8 orbs of light shooting from it.

“This card is a Continuous Trap Card that allows me to declare a Monster Level & if you have summoned a monster with that Level, I can send this card to the graveyard so that you will take Damage equal to the declared Level x300,” explained Marin, “so I declare Level 8 for its effect!”

“Oh no! He must have read Clair’s mind there!” said Norman, “Though Ruler Archfiend could handle 3 out of the 4 dragons Marin has, but that card can stop its play since Clair will instantly lose like this.”

“You are trying very hard, Marin,” said Clair, “but here’s the last effect of my Lost Star Descent. It will decrease the summoned monster’s Level by 1.” (LV: 5~4)

“Level 4! But with that Level 3 Tuner, your trump card!” exclaimed Marin.

“Yup, I Tune Psychic Commander into Magical Android!” announced Clair, “Ascend into a plane beyond all existence! Enlighten thee with light of guidance! Synchro Summon! Rise from nothingness, Astral Plane Dragon!” (2000/1000)

As Psychic Commander was reduced to 2 rings of light that passed through Magical Android, which became 4 stars too. Then, the green dragon appeared & roared loudly & fiercely at the opposing 4 dragons. At this moment, a powerful blot of red lightning struck directly at the midpoint of the field & spread itself out from there as if it were living.

 

“What in the name of Ra is that?” hollered Yugi.

“Our futures, ones that are guided by this Crimson Dragon, come forth & accept it,” said the Overmind as his fist smashed the window shield of the VIP Stand to reveal himself.

“What! The Overmind!” exclaimed Norman, “so he is involved in this after all!”

Unconcerned about the living lightning, he held up his own medallion up high. The red lightning also formed into some corporeal form of its own, a red dragon with a head, tail, 2 claws & a pair of wings. The energy dragon then flew around the entire perimeter of the Stadium.

“I think we have some problems with the Solid Vision system…” claimed MC Ben, “don’t worry people. This is most likely a glitch in the system. Please remain calm & in your seats!”

“What…what is that?” wondered Yugi, “is this also your doing?”

“Finally! Ha-ha-ha-ha!!!” cried the Overmind, “let us be humbled by the future itself!”

Meanwhile, Blake & 2 of his grunts managed to catch Gethin at this time.

“Ha! We finally got you!” said Blake as his 2 grunts held Gethin’s arms tightly, “what have you got to say for yourself now?”

“Well…Look out behind you!” cried Gethin as the Crimson Dragon flew past them & caused a gust of winds that threw the grunts & Blake off their feet. Gethin took this chance to flee immediately.

“What is that monster?” claimed someone from the audience.

“When was that summoned?” claimed another person in the crowd.

“It’s Judgment Day!” yelled another man amongst the crowd, “The Crimson Dragon is a representative of The Lord to cleanse our world! Run for your lives!”

“Everyone, I think we should run…like now…and very fast too,” claimed Norman as he ducked in response to another gust, “or just duck in cover.”

“What’s that thing?” wondered Venus.

“The sacred Crimson Dragon that the People of the Stars once worshipped as a God,” answered Teong, “the amassed Duel Energy & the presence of those dragons must have called upon it somehow…without the need of the 5 Signers!”

“What! Are you serious about this?” exclaimed Mary.

“I’m certain, the connection is indeed cut off completely,” said Tyson sadly.

“Oh no! Mount your camera anyway,” instructed Mary, “we still have another story to put up, that Crimson Dragon!”

Also, in the White Hawks HQ, everyone was only looking a TV screen full of static.

“Damn it! That crimson dragon just mysteriously swooped in & then this happened!” cursed Darren.

“This could mean something big & bad…men, let’s go live!” commanded Charles as everyone started moving out.

“Sir, I will stay behind to finish up on my research. I’m almost there,” said Juan.

“Are you scared or what?” wondered Caius.

“Now’s not the time to joke, Caius! Move out now!” ordered Charles as Caius walked away, leaving Juan all alone.

“Now that I’m all alone at last, let me see…” said Juan as he typed away on his laptop, “here we go, this looks promising!”

Back to the duel, Clair had just summoned her Astral Plane Dragon to face Main’s 4 dragons.

“Since my Astral Plane Dragon had just been summoned, I can remove every monster in our graveyards to increase this card’s Attack by 300 per monster,” said Clair, (2000/1000~4100/1000) “attack Ancient Fairy Dragon with Astral Burst!”

“I counter that with Holy Sacrifice!” commanded Marin, “I select another monster I control & all Battle Damage that I held for the turn is reduced to 0. Therefore, I nominate my Stardust Dragon for its effect.”

Stardust Dragon suddenly appeared in front of Ancient Fairy Dragon to block off the attack from hitting it. Then, the collision caused a great burst of light that the Crimson Dragon apparently responded to. It then flew high up in the sky where it assumed a cross-like formation as it shone so bright that its light engulfed everyone in the Stadium.

 

Clair suddenly found herself & Marin to be flying in the air via some red spheres with the Crimson Dragon in front of them. From a distance, she also saw the Overmind, also flying in another red sphere. As Clair looked down, she saw a city area from a bird’s eye view. However, there was some rumbling in the city & something from the sky glowed. It was like a great fireball in the shape of a giant bird & it crashed onto a skyscraper there, setting it ablaze. From there, the flames had gained life on their own & proceeded to scorch the rest of the city away. The end-result of the great fire was a scorched ruin of the grand city it once had been.

“What is this?” wondered Clair.

“The future, the Crimson Dragon’s powers guide one to the future,” said the Overmind, “be it one of prosperity or one of ruin…”

“So you mean to say that…this is the future,” said Marin, who was surprised at what he saw.

“No…no…I deny this future!” shouted Clair hysterically.

“There is no avoidance, Ms Kinet,” said the Overmind coldly.

“If you wish to deny the future, then let us continue the present, our duel!” cried Marin as the scene went dark.

 

Suddenly, everything returned to normal in the Stadium. It was almost as though the Crimson Dragon was never there in the first place.

“Ok…I think that glitch in the Solid Vision has been stabilized at last,” said MC Ben, “So let’s continue from where we were left off!”

“Hey, I thought that Dragon would have been destroyed by Holy Sacrifice!” said Clair, who was surprised.

“Should be, but I can explain that. The supposed Damage dealt ought to be 2000, but since Stardust possessed a higher Attack than that, it is still safe,” said Marin.

“I set 2 cards face-down & end my turn,” said Clair calmly.

“My turn & I’ll draw,” said Marin, “also I will draw once more due to the effect of Tiamut’s Nest. I now play Block Attack to shift your dragon to Defense Mode.”

Astral Plane Dragon bent down & folded its wings to defend itself.

“Now for my Dragon Archfiend to take action! Go, Absolute Power Force!” ordered Marin as Red Dragon Archfiend punched into Astral Plane Dragon.

“Activate Trap Card, Dazzling Radiance!” said Clair as the entire field was engulfed by a light, “the desert heat will now affect your monster’s concentration & force him to take down your weakest monster that is in Attack Mode!”

Red Dragon Archfiend continued its punch, but the great light dimmed to reveal that it just hit Ancient Fairy Dragon. Ancient Fairy Dragon roared in pain as flames started to consume it.

“So it had to be by your monster’s own hand that another one must be vanquished,” said Clair.

“Arg…I can still attack you just yet! Stardust Dragon…” said Marin.

“I activate Zero Gravity, this forces all our monsters to change Battle Position!” said Clair, “

Upon that, Astral Plane Dragon flapped its wings to release itself from the vines. Meanwhile, Black Rose Dragon, Stardust Dragon & Red Dragon Archfiend all descended & shielded themselves with their wings.

“So you predicted my moves,” wondered Marin.

“Yes, I figured that you would try to move my Dragon to Defense Mode,” said Clair, “that’s when I came in prepared.”

“Well, I set 1 face-down card & end my turn,” said Marin, “in which, another effect of my Red Dragon Archfiend activates. I have to destroy every monster who didn’t attack this turn.”

“So all of them bites the dust!” said Damataeus, “guess the loophole is true!”

Red Dragon Archfiend unleashed sparks of flame from its body & burnt both Stardust & Black Rose Dragon away.

“That’s odd! He could have used Stardust Dragon’s Victim Sanctuary to negate that effect & still get Stardust Dragon back…” claimed Norman, “and that face-down…he’s planning something alright…”

“I draw,” said Clair, “I attack your Dragon Archfiend with Astral Burst!”

Astral Plane Dragon unleashed a blast of energy towards Red Dragon Archfiend & destroyed it.

“By destroying my Dragon Archfiend, I should be thanking you instead. Because this lets me activate my Level Resist Wall!” said Marin, “now I can summon monsters from my hand as long as their combined Levels are equal to that of the destroyed monster’s.”

Suddenly, eight stars appeared & 5 of them melded into a metallic orb that sparked off electricity. (1800/1400) Also, the remaining 3 stars formed into a small fluff ball made of marshmallow. (300/500)

“I’ve summoned Level 5 Ally Mind & Level 3 Marshmallon in Defense Modes,” said Marin, “since you’ve attacked earlier this, your Battle Phase is over.”

“Fine then, I set 1 face-down & end the turn,” said Clair.

“I draw,” said Marin, “now I conduct the Tuning of Ally Mind with my Marshmallon!”

“But you have no Tuners for it…unless…” exclaimed Clair before she realised what was going on.

“My Ally Mind is a member of the Allies of Justice, a group of Machines who opposed the space invader race, the Worms. Their creators had created this monster out of the materials they have excavated from the Worm Nebula & that granted it with tuning powers,” explained Marin as his Ally Mind dispersed into 5 rings of light that went past Marshmallon, “Holy light of The Lord grace our duel! Let us bathe in all its radiance! Synchro Summon! Shine in your glory, Light End Dragon!” (2600/2100)

“What?! He has a 5th Synchro as well!” exclaimed Norman, “I didn’t see that coming!”

Suddenly, a beam of light shone onto the field & a long serpentine white dragon appeared. It had a few golden plates attached on it & it growled gently at Clair.

“Now I draw again due to my Nest,” said Marin as he drew a Megamorph, “now I activate that card I just got, Megamorph! When I have lesser Life Points, my monster’s Attack is doubled!”

Light End Dragon then grew twice as large in terms of size. (2600/2100~5200/2100)

“Now I attack your Dragon, which activates my own Dragon’s ability,” said Marin, “Go, Light Expansion!”

Just as Light End Dragon opened its mouth, light glowed from its body to engulf Astral Plane Dragon. (5200/2100~4700/1600, 4100/1000~2600/0)

“By lowering my dragon’s attack by 500, I can do the same to your monster that it battles too, only that the loss will be thrice as much,” said Marin, “Finish her off with your Shining Sublimation!”

Light End Dragon then destroyed Astral Plane Dragon with its own radiant blast of light.

“You have activated my Cosmic Blast now! Now, you will be bathed in that light you said I would be defeated in!” declared Clair as her foe was engulfed by light.

“Noooooo!!!!!!” cried Marin.

“Just face it, Marin. You’ve lost & where’s my family now?” demanded Clair.

“Correction, I’ve merely lost the battle, but achieved my objective,” said Marin as he stood upright, “but the war hasn’t even begun & when it does, you will suffer…badly!”

Marin then walked off, leaving Clair alone to wonder what he really meant.

“Ladies & gentlemen, let’s give a round of applause to our winner, our very own Clair Kinet!!!” cried MC Ben, “in her own moves, she managed to stand tall in front of the dragons that Marin had pressured her with & she still preserve till the very end & that end was the path of victory!!!”

Everyone there then began to cheer for Clair’s victory. Also, holographic screens of Clair popped up all over the Stadium.

“I knew she could do it if she tried!” said Norman as he was finally relieved over the appearance of the Crimson Dragon.

Just then, the White Hawks members arrived at the Stadium when the crowd was cheering for Clair’s victory of the tournament.

“What just happened?” wondered Caius, “the Crimson Dragon is like gone!”

“I think the duel’s already over,” said Darren as he saw Clair’s image on a nearby holo-screen, “and Clair just won!”

“But that Crimson Dragon! It’s…” hollered Charles.

“Uncle Charles, we got that covered already,” said Mary as she approached them with Tyson tagging along, “and it’s all wrapped up…in hard disk, that is…”

Up in the VIP Stand, the Overmind stood at its edge with Yugi & Blake standing behind. The Overmind then looked at his medallion.

“I feel…stronger now…yes…almost all the pieces are set now…for the final confrontation…” said the Overmind ominously.

“That Dragon…it might never even be his true intentions yet…so what could it be…” wondered Teong, “oh no…he couldn’t be…”

“So Clair walked out as a winner, eh…no real surprise as I expected that,” pondered the Ally, “no real surprise here since I’ve recalled that duel’s conclusion back then. Now that that duel’s in the pages of the past, let them focus on the future that the Crimson Dragon has given them…”

Cosmic Blast

Normal Trap

Activate only when a Dragon-Type Synchro Monster you control is removed from the field. Inflict damage to your opponent equal to its ATK.

 

Clair: You’ve seen it a lot so far & now, I’ll tell you about it, the Trap Card called Cosmic Blast. This card only works when a Dragon-Type Synchro Monster has been taken off the field for any reason (like destruction, bounce) or wherever it goes (like the graveyard, hand, deck or being removed from play) & damages them an amount equaling to that monster’s Attack.

I actually have been a big fan ever since the beginning. In fact' date=' your work here was the inspiration to create a new series after my first series, Yu-Gi-Oh! Queen of Hearts, failed. You are sort of....a role model to me.

The following chapter may have no duel to follow,but there will be some revelations to the plot as all the characters are coming together now.

 

[spoiler=Ch 48-Calm Before the Storm]

Hours had passed since the declaration of Clair’s ultimate victory in the Special Cup, the curtain of night had graced the silent sky as the city laid in the middle of night. In the White Hawk HQ far away from the civilization areas of Oregeorgia, Norman was navigating his way around as he came to a room where Juan & Teong were already at.

“Just I’m late again,” said Norman grudgingly.

“No, we’ve just came here,” lied Teong, “take a seat, Norman.”

As such, Norman took a seat on a simple wooden chair as their discussion began.

“Norman, remember that medallion you sent me earlier,” mentioned Juan.

“Yah, have you found anything out yet?” asked Norman anxiously.

“That goes without saying! Just take a look here,” said Juan as he went to face his laptop, “it is apparently of a pre-civilization language that is even beyond the 10,000-year old Atlantis…and the runes translate to… The universe is born from chaos & split into them as order…Stable earth that supports life, Changing waters that breathes us life, Boundless sky that grants us hope, Flowing time that is ever bitter-sweet, Growing space that reach for infinity. We sought for a new order…”

“What do you suppose that would mean?” asked Teong.

“I’m not sure but I think it could mean land, sea, sky, time & space…” said Juan, “of course! This medallion’s runes describe the primordial matter of the universe!”

“And Clair mentioned that the Overmind also possesses a similar item with an inverse colour scheme,” mentioned Norman.

“This could be big…very big,” said Teong, “Under my own investigation, I have found out that all the duels of the Special Cup was like a goldmine of Duel Energy. For example, that last duel alone could even bring forth the Crimson Dragon, something that should not be in this world under normal circumstances. I have beliefs that the Overmind was not intending a victory in that tournament.”

“If he had other goals, then what is it?” wondered Juan.

“He could be doing the same thing many had done before…rebuilding their bodies,” said Norman, who grasped at this revelation, “he was armored full-body…maybe that armor is really…a life support system!”

 

Meanwhile, in the Overmind’s sky fortress, inside the throne room, Marin was kneeling before the standing form of the Overmind in a private discussion of their own.

“Marin, you have done well throughout the match,” said the Overmind, “those duels…they have granted me enough Duel Energy to empower myself.”

“Indeed, my Lord,” replied Marin, “I believe this brings us closer to your objectives.”

“10 years ago, existence of our kind was finally leaked to the public & the Genocide had threatened our very future like it never had before. During that time of turmoil, our Overmind at that time, Seymour Dalton, has remained passive & believed firmly in peaceful negotiations to resolve all issues,” accounted the Overmind grimly, “That was the big mistake he made. He wasn’t counting on any possible hostility during the negotiations, something that I have realised as his High Knight.”

“So you were formerly the High Knight of late Overmind Seymour,” said Marin, “just as I am now your High Knight.”

“Indeed, I tried to force out the human’s weapons. But, he was too quick & shot Seymour dead in cold blood,” said the Overmind, “then, he shot me while I was forced to flee. I was weakened to a great extent & fell off a cliff. The next thing I recalled was meeting the Ally for the first time…”

“The old man! You knew him!” exclaimed Marin in disbelief.

“When I woke up, I found myself encased inside this armor-like life support system that he made for me,” said the Overmind, “he then told me that the Psychics were in grave danger without a leader, an Overmind, to unite them all & offered to ascend me as one as I was the High Knight of the former Overmind.”

“And you accepted it,” guessed Marin.

“He went on & tell me how the Psychics on the whole were suffering & that I am destined to set things right. That’s when I decided to do all this,” said the Overmind, “and he also mentioned the theory of Duel Energy accumulation to repair bodies and that there is a device attached to me that can absorb it. Now, I am strong enough to no longer rely on this system for survival. I shall be freed!”

Suddenly, the Overmind was engulfed in a pillar of fire that came from nowhere. Slowly, parts of armor were flaking off his body. Then, the pillar became a giant orb of fire that suddenly imploded. From the smoke, a humanoid form stood naked in front of Marin. The Overmind revealed himself as a bulky Caucasian man with extremely long red-ish brown hair that extended to the lower half of his body; the mask he once wore was now in his hands.

“My Lordship, is that you?” asked Marin, who was amazed at the Overmind’s true face, “you…you look…so grand!”

“Indeed, he is. I pay my respects to the 999th Great Overmind of the Psychics…” said another voice from the smoke, who revealed himself as the Ally. He had a thin box in his arms.

“The Ally, you have come to see me again,” said the Overmind, “as you can see, I am now fully resurrected to my former state & have relinquished the armor you gave me.”

“Excellent! With your rebirth, I now grant you the true power as the Great Overmind of the Psychics!” proclaimed the Ally, “Let me give a little present to show my appreciation.”

He laid the box on the floor & opened it up to reveal a set of robes inside.

“How lovely, it’s as though you knew beforehand this would happen,” said Marin.

“I always do,” responded the Ally as he walked away & gradually disappeared from sight.

“Where did he go?” wondered Marin.

“None of your concern,” said the Overmind as he went over to pick up his robes, “he’s quite an enigma who allies with everyone in a conflict simultaneously.”

 

Meanwhile, in the hotel room that Clair had taken residence, Clair sat alone to ponder on what happened.

“That vision…it was Oregeorgia being destroyed…what’s gonna to happen now…” wondered Clair.

However, the area around her started to wrap & collapse on itself, forming into a chaotic scenery that Clair could recall easily.

“The unborn world…” whispered Clair, “this could mean 1 thing…The Ally…”

“You’re rather sharp, my girl,” said the Ally as he appeared behind Clair, “so I believe you’ve won that Special Cup recently & saw that Crimson Dragon, didn’t you?”

“Yeah, I sure did & saw a disturbing vision too; the whole city was being destroyed by a powerful force,” said Clair.

“It’s not just Oregeorgia alone, but the whole world…no, the universe itself,” corrected the Overmind, “all of creation shall shatter & be reborn at the call of Mana, the living soul of the universe.”

“But what is this so-called ‘Mana’?” asked Clair.

“The living soul of the universe who exists at the dawn of creation, the true ‘God’ of the universe itself,” explained the Ally, “other entities such as the deity pantheons & Crimson Dragon are merely its agents sent over the course of history to govern humans. However, their powers had dropped drastically over the years due to the emergence of technology & lack of worship. In fact, even we Psychics are the agents of Mana itself.”

“Really? But that would mean the Psychics are like the agents of God,” said Clair.

“Absolutely, before recorded history even began, there was once a glorious Empire of the Psychics called Holy Arcadius Empire,” said the Ally, “that was the original name of the organization you are now going against. It was led by the first Great Overmind of the Psychics named King Arcadius Arc Deus, who led the Empire into the Golden Age.”

“The Overmind…it’s a title,” said Clair.

“Indeed, it is. A holy title granted only to one who can unite the Psychics & entire world together under the word of Mana,” explained the Ally, “Sadly, he was killed by his own Imperial Consort Lilith. This led to a series of power struggles that caused nearly the end of the world. In the end, High Consort Evelyn prayed to Mana for salvation & she was given 2 powerful medallions that will allow her to reform the ruined world back to normal. From then onwards, Arcadius Empire was passed on to various Overminds over the centuries who insisted on secrecy, during which the name would constantly be renamed by the reigning Overmind.”

“Enough of the past, I want to know the present & the future now!” snapped Clair, getting frustrated by then.

“Very well, the current Overmind is now attained his objective & the final battles shall begin soon,” said the Ally.

“What objective, are you saying that he has a motive in this?” demanded Clair.

“I’m sure that you’ve seen his armor at a point of time, that armor is actually a life support system that can absorb Duel Energy…the only energy that can heal his own injuries,” said the Ally, “but let us conclude our session with a little game.”

 

“What game?!” asked Clair.

“The Dark Game of Prophecies, milady,” said the Ally as a table was formed suddenly in front of him; there was a deck of cards there too, “see that set of 40 cards there, shuffle them & you will guide your future.”

Clair did what he said & shuffled the mysterious deck. After which, she placed that deck on the table.

“Ok, now what?” asked Clair.

“I will set them in a certain formation,” said the Ally.

He then drew 2 cards & placed them on the far ends. Then, he did the same step for 2 more times, bringing it closer. Finally, he placed the 7th card in the middle. From what Clair could see, it was like a V-shape.

“This spread of cards is your destiny, which I shall divine for you, starting with the one on the furthest left,” said the Ally, “before I revealed its identity, that card will be your past, a mirror image reflecting your very history.”

“But why we need to know my past when we are telling my future?” asked Clair.

“Because for one to know his future, he must dig deep into his past,” explained the Ally, “without further ado, let’s see your past!”

As the Ally flipped up the card, it was revealed to be a card with an orange frame showing a small pink bird.

“Sonic Chick? What does that mean?” wondered Clair.

“To look at the meaning behind the cards in a Dark Prophecy Game, one must ponder over the effects & possible history,” said the Ally, “Sonic Chick may seem weak, but it could survive through most problems. This could refer to the Genocide & how you avoided the fate of death, just like our little feathered friend here. But let’s move on Card 2, your present.”

 

The Ally opened it up & revealed it to be a Trap Card showing a military gas mask.

“Normal Trap Card Mask of Perplexity, eh…” said the Ally, “This would mean that you are currently in a dilemma of your own, but you try to hide your puzzlement behind the mask of joy.”

“Yeah, this whole tournament…I really want to find them. It’s my fault they got into this mess in the first place,” said Clair.

“Don’t blame yourself! They knew what it would have meant for them to keep you in the first place,” said the Ally, “but we proceed to the next card, which represents influence. What motivates you to do your best?”

 

He quickly flipped the card open & it was shown as a Spell Card showing 4 hands held together.

“Say that’s Hero’s Bond…a Spell Card that searches for one’s allies,” said the Ally, “this shows that you are greatly influenced by the number of allies you have & even have a strong sense of comradeship like the Elemental Heroes themselves.”

“My allies…they surely helped me,” murmured Clair as she thought of her friends.

“We may now know what affects you, but let’s see what blocks you from your destiny, the obstacle,” said the Ally as he revealed the next card as a ghostly hand reaching out to a set of bars.

“That’s Nightmare’s Steelcage…a card that traps others from further actions. I believe it means that you fear your foster family being trapped,” said the Ally, “but rest assured that they will be safe & sound, that I vow with my word. And this next one, it’s your expectations, what is about to happen. You always wanted to know the future, so let’s see it now.”

 

The Ally opened it to show a Spell Card showing Demise, King of Armageddon, rising from the ground in a city.

“The Ritual Spell Card End of the World…to put it easy, there will be catastrophic event coming up that could lead to the death of the world,” said the Ally.

“That vision I saw with the Crimson Dragon…that was it!” exclaimed Clair, “I can’t allow that to happen!”

“When this card is shown as your expectations, the next card called ‘Course of Actions’ must be seen to hopefully guide you from this fate,” said the Ally as he opened up the following card.

The next card was revealed as a Spell Card. It showed Buster Blader, Obnoxious Celtic Guard & Gazelle the King of Mythical Beasts on the top & a blue ogre at the bottom part.

“Brave Attack, eh…you must rise up against & deny the current Overmind’s efforts,” said the Ally, “the only question remaining is whether you’re brave enough?”

 

“I…I’ll see…I want to protect my loved ones…” said Clair.

“Now that’s the spirit. Let us finish this game with this last card ‘Outcome’,” said the Ally as he reached out for the card, but then he stopped suddenly, “so it has to be like this, eh?”

The Ally held up the card & revealed it to be empty.

“Empty card!? What does it mean?” asked Clair.

“Our futures are all uncertain & thus the ‘outcome’ card represents that by being blank,” said the Ally, “keep it with you & when the time comes, your final destiny will be shown before you.”

“But how will I know what that card means?” asked Clair.

“You’ll know when that time comes, everything will be obvious to you by then,” replied the Ally.

 

Clair then received that card from the Ally’s hands & the whole place seemed to convert back into the hotel room Clair was in at first. Clair was still holding the blank card & beside her was an umbrella with a small note.

“Huh? What’s this?” wondered Clair as she noticed the note & unfolded it.

“How would he know about a storm when it’s not even cloudy tonight?” wondered Clair, “truly a weird man, he is.”

“Hey Clair, I’m back,” called Norman, “and I have some information for you about that medallion of yours.”

“What, you got something about it?” wondered Clair.

“You can thank Juan for it, but the medallion apparently describes matter of the universe,” said Norman, “and the Overmind apparently planned the Special Cup to give him enough Duel Energy to rebuild his own body.”

“And also I know that an event of destruction is upon us soon,” said Clair, “and we have to stand strong against them.”

“What made you come to that conclusion?” asked Fuyuki, who went to join them.

“The Crimson Dragon guided me to that end & a little Ally told me,” answered Clair as she smiled, “but the future is not absolute & we should fight for our own world till the very end!”

 

Meanwhile, deep in an alley, Gethin leaned on the wall all on his own.

“I can’t return to the Overmind, it’s far too dangerous now,” said Gethin, “I can turn to Clair & the White Hawks, but will they be hostile towards me or not…guess this is my suffering…”

“Are you in a dilemma, child?” asked the Ally as he approached Gethin.

“Mind your own business, old man!” retorted Gethin.

“I am, for everyone tied to the Psychic’s Revolution is my business & I am one of your kind as well,” said the Ally, “You may call me the Ally. I suggest you to go against the rule of the Overmind, but don’t rely on Clair.”

“Go against…Overmind…are you mad?” questioned Gethin.

“But are you willing to anyway?” asked the Ally.

“Well…eh…I wanted to…” said Gethin grudgingly.

“There you have it, just do it!” said the Ally, “and I shall guide you to your first step. I’m sure that you are aware that the Overmind keeps his prisoners in a different location, the same location where he harvested the precious stones that are vital to his mind control, right?”

“Of course, Sir Marin once showed me that place,” said Gethin.

“Go to there & liberate the prisoners there,” said the Ally, “this is all part of the Great Design & will benefit the future of the world.”

“Are you sure?” wondered Gethin.

“Certain, you will be doing the world a great service & that will outweigh that heart of yours that was clouded with illusions of sin,” said the Ally as he vanished in thin air.

 

Also, in Oregeorgia International Airport, there was yet another midnight flight landing there…from Neo Domino City of Japan.

“Flight Jet Ikaruga has landed in Oregeorgia of the Northern American Super-Union, from Neo Domino City of the Japanese Neo-Empire. Please have a pleasant time during your stay in this foreign land,” called out the PA system there.

As the passengers of the Japanese aeroplane of Ikaruga got off to venture to the airport itself, one of them was moving on her own pace, yet she was still in a rush of her own. She was Luna, the wielder of Ancient Fairy Dragon & 1 of the 5 Signers who stopped Rex Goodwin’s mad plans & the Dark Signers’ destruction of Satellite, now reformed as a city called Sub-Domino. She was dressed in a plain white cloak accented with red stripes. Her green hair was already reduced to a mass of flowing grey hair.

“Now where on Earth shall I find this so-called Clair Kinet?” wondered Luna, “this city is not as small as I had imagined.”

“Excuse me, Madam,” said a flight attendant who was beside her, “I’ve overheard what you just said & can answer you.”

“Why, thanks,” said Luna, “please do tell.”

“It’s only my job to serve all passengers here. Clair Kinet is actually a duelist of the local Pro League,” explained the flight attendant, “in fact, I believe she had just won the Special Cup tournament earlier today. Her opponent, Marin, sure pulled off a fast one there when he summoned Red Dragon Archfiend to join his army of Synchro Dragons &…”

“Pardon, but what kind of Synchro Dragons that Marin had again?” asked Luna.

“Let me recall first…Red Dragon Archfiend…Ancient Fairy Dragon…Black Rose Dragon…Stardust Dragon…” muttered the flight attendant.

“What! I better get going now, thanks too,” said Luna, who quickly went off & shocked by the monsters that Marin possessed.

“How on Earth does a common duelist come to possess a Signer Dragon? They are just 1-of-a-kind here!” thought Luna.

“The one called Marin…he might be causing the disturbance that led to the Crimson Dragon’s untimely resurrection,” echoed the voice of Ancient Fairy Dragon inside Luna’s mind.

“Then I must act fast,” thought Luna.

 

In the sky fortress, the Overmind was standing at the balcony where he would normally give out his speeches to his forces. But this time, he just stood there silently with a blank card in his hand as his minions were all below watching him. The Overmind himself was dressed in the robes that the Ally had given him, a platinum grey suit with 2 shoulder pads & a high collar. He had his silver & blue medallion on his neck & his hair was restyled to one similar to a barrister’s wig. He opened his eyes & saw that the blank card was glowing & slowly became a card with an orange frame, showing a grey & green dragon.

“The Chaos Emperor Dragon, so that is my ‘Outcome’ card, eh…” commented the Overmind, “its power to devastate the field represents a powerful presence is before us all, the perfect time to strike is now!”

He then faced all of his followers & victims, with a brave & solemn face.

“Members of Arcadius, what you see before your very eyes is the true form of your Overmind!” said the Overmind, “With that, I officially declare myself as the rightful 999th Great Overmind of the Psychics! As my own injuries are now gone & my form is reborn, I officially decree that we shall strike at dawn! That’s when our plans shall begin! The old world shall be consumed in God’s wrath & a new one shall be erected in place of the flawed world!”

At that speech, everyone there cheered loudly to the Overmind’s powerful speech.

“All hail the 999th Great Overmind, God of the New World!” cried the masses, in which the Overmind grinned wickedly.

 

Hours had passed & it was already morning by then. As Clair woke up, she opened up the window to see the early morning scenery. However, all she saw was huge storm clouds brewing over the skies of Oregeorgia. The secenario gave Clair & the area an ominous feel.

“So he did manage to accurately predict the rains,” said Clair as she glanced at the umbrella the Ally had left behind, “guessed I need the umbrella after all.”

Up on the rooftop of a skyscraper there, the Ally stared down on the city where a storm was about to occur.

“And so the final battle commences,” said the Ally as the wind blew off his hood, revealing his wrinkled face that was similar to that of Fuyuki’s & lengthy white hair.

Ritual Spell

Game Effect: This card can be used to Ritual Summon "Ruin, Queen of Oblivion", or "Demise, King of Armageddon". You must also offer Tribute monsters from the field or your hand whose total Levels equal the Level of the Ritual Monster you are attempting to Ritual Summon.

 

Symbolic Meaning: A grand event of mass destruction is at thy destiny. If left unchecked, Oblivion & Armageddon is upon thee & soon the door of the Next World opens.

 

Ally: This is a card that I used to divine Clair Kinet’s destiny, End of the World. To put it simple, this card is an obvious representation of a deadly event that could effectively end the world…no, the universe itself. Her destiny is in fact tied to the Overmind’s destiny, so he would be the cause of that catastrophic event. If you played this card in-game, it allows you to summon either Ruin or Demise by offering monsters of Levels up to 8.

Gethin: Under orders of this old man called the Ally, I went inside the dungeon that serves 2 important purposes for the Overmind. I was to free all the prisoners there & stop the mining process that creates the minerals for mind control. I hope that clears off all my wrongs that I had committed.

Curtis: This dude here freed us from that awful dump of dumps & now I have to duel for everyone’s freedom. Next on Yu-Gi-Oh Key of the Mind-Ch 49-Gemstone Rush! No one, not even an octopus-freak, is going to stop me!

Heh, anyway. Just what are the Ally's true motives, that may be a bigger question then the "Overmind's". What a plot twist. Although the fact that the Overlord is 999th, it makes you wonder if him being overthrown or something (making 1000th) will be a big plot twist...

[spoiler=Ch 49-Gemstone Rush]

Near Oregeorgia was a series of mountains called the Oregon Alps, known to be rather tall due to recent unforeseen tectonic plate movements. Due to their mysterious circumstances of their formation & their semi-stable nature, there was never any attempt from Oregeorgia or Neo New York City, the capital of the North American Super-Union, to colonize or industrialized the newly-formed region. They were known to be frequently scaled by multiple mountain climbers, but recent climbers had gone missing. Despite that, that never stopped the spirits of the climbers. In fact, the silhouette of a teenage person was seen walking towards the Oregon Alps in the rain & he was Gethin.

“Man, this is so tiring,” remarked Gethin, “no wonder the Overmind relocated his prison to this location. But then again, it was those gemstones grown there that really interested him. Well, I have to shut down the whole operation now.”

 

However, 2 masked grunts were spying on him from a ridge of a mountain.

“Should we inform Lord Hashim?” asked 1 of the grunts.

“Let’s tell him that we have found a traitor,” said the other grunt as he activated a communication screen & the image of a man concealed by shadows appeared on it.

“Yes, you pathetic grunts, what is it?” demanded the man in a disdainful manner.

“Lord Hashim, we have located the Traitor Gethin Ira near our base,” said the grunt.

“What! With him apprehended, I might be able to use him as leverage for my promotion as Knight,” exclaimed Hashim, “this transmission is now over!”

 

Soon, Gethin managed to locate the prison’s location. It was actually situated precisely in the middle of the mountain range where it was protected from all angles by its rugged terrain. At the gates, there were 2 Syntho-Daemons guarding the facility. One of them looked like a mantis, while the other looked like a hybrid between a wolf & several types of flying insects.

“Just 2 of them, this should be easy,” said Gethin as he activated his Duel Disk & walked out into their view, “Yo, you ugly creations!”

The 2 Syntho-Daemons there suddenly noticed him & approached him.

“Now’s my chance! See you later, I banish you all with my Dimensional Prison!” proclaimed Gethin as a dimensional rift opened & sucked the 2 Syntho-Daemons in it, “I’ve made you & I can just as easily undo you. Good thing I’ve made several flaws to them on purpose.”

 

Gethin then opened the gate & went inside the prison facility. Knowing the risks, he boldly took the first step towards the path of his redemption.

“Now, where should I go do now?” wondered Gethin, “I had better free those people captured by the Overmind first, then I blow up the machine that excavates all those gemstones out.”

 

Eventually, Gethin made his way to the dungeon areas & looked at the various cells there. Among them, he glanced at the weak form of Candice, lying weakly in her cell.

“Candice! Wake up!” cried Gethin.

Slowly, Candice managed to hear him & tried to stand up, only to see him.

“Yeah…Gethin! Did he send you to further punish me or what?” wondered Candice fearfully.

“No, in fact, I’m here to rescue you & everyone else here who are captured,” said Gethin.

“You do know that you are going against the Overmind like this,” warned Candice.

“I had already backstabbed him when I see that he was wrong,” claimed Gethin as her cell door suddenly opened, “there, it’s done.”

“Quite a nifty job there,” complimented Candice.

“In fact, I’ve just hacked into the system & opened every cell on the block,” explained Gethin as various other people walked out of their respective cells.

“During my time here, I have met & acquainted myself with several other prisoners,” said Candice as she grabbed Manny, “this is a mercenary duelist called Manny & there’s more still.”

“I heard of him from Sir Marin,” said Gethin, “he’s quite a tough bargainer.”

“But I changed, I finally realised the importance of friendship & all that junk,” said Manny.

Candice then dragged another teenage girl wearing a white tank top with a floral skirt.

“Ever saw her in a magazine before,” said Candice, “but I’ll still tell you who she is anyway. She’s Sakura Tenma, the daughter of Industrial Illusions Chairman Yugi Tenma!”

“You’re…rather hyperactive, are you…” said Gethin, who was shocked by Candice odd warm behavior.

“Something I’ve realised when I dueled with Matt,” said Candice.

“Wasn’t that match for revenge?” wondered Gethin.

“No, it was a battle of realization,” said Candice, “anyway, I also show you another prisoner here.”

She then pointed to a young adult, who was accompanied with a couple.

“That is Curtis & his parents,” said Candice.

“They are the foster family of Clair!” said Gethin, “but should there be like 4 of them?”

“I don’t know, but I think some guards went & took that girl away,” said Candice, “since then, I haven’t seen her again.”

“Ok everyone, let’s get our bad selves out of this dump!” cried Gethin & the crowd of captives all dashed out for their own freedom.

 

In another portion of the facility where it is a mine, a masked grunt ran off to report the prison break to his master Hashim. Hashim was a Middle Eastern adult male who was draped in the traditional robes of his countryman; his hair was hidden & tucked in his keffiyeh. He was accompanied by the octopus-like Syntho-Daemon, Metiel.

“Lord Hashim, there has been a massive prison break & we cannot suppress their forces,” reported the masked grunt as he knelt.

However, the ground underneath him cracked before as Hashim’s fist clenched.

“Can’t you worthless fools do anything right? In my home-country of the Middle East, your servants can actually do something unlike your fools!” yelled Hashim before calming down & facing Metiel, “Metiel, for some reason, I might have to depend on you to crush the revolution.”

“Don’t worry, I shall literally make an example out of those who rebelled against us,” said Metiel sinisterly.

“Good, I need to handle other businesses too,” said Hashim, “one that will lead to my promotion at last.”

 

Near the main gate of the prison, an entire crowd of people were marching there. They included various Psychics who opposed or failed the Overmind, innocent mountain climbers who stumbled upon the facility & even other common people that were captured for bribery purposes. Gethin was leading the effort for a while, but he halted midway.

“This is where I stopped leading,” said Gethin, “Curtis, can you follow up from here?”

“Me? But I…” said Curtis, who was surprised.

“No buts, I’ve got another mission here & I intend to accomplish it,” said Gethin as he ran off.

“Well…let’s go on, people!” instructed Curtis, “The exit is only in front of us!”

“An exit that you shall only continue to dream about,” said a gruff voice.

A geyser of water suddenly erupted in front of them & a Syntho-Daemon appeared. It had tentacles on its lower body & demonic features on its upper body. Even its head resembled a squid & it was only someone or something that Curtis himself remembered too well of.

“Metiel, get out of our way!” shouted Curtis bravely.

“That kid who freed us…he backstabbed us!” proclaimed a hiker among the crowd, “I knew it, I just knew it!”

“Bite your tongue! I know Gethin personally & he won’t do such things!” barked Candice as she waved her hands to cause cold winds to blow at the hiker.

“Foolish people, I alone can take out all of you. Therefore, I suggest you all to return to your cells & surrender me your leader. I might let you off,” said Metiel.

“The guy in the front, he’s the mastermind here!” proclaimed that same hiker.

“It always had to be you!” said Metiel.

“Maybe so, but since I’m out of the slammer now, let me duel you for all our freedom!” challenged Curtis.

“Hmm, I did plan to have some entertainment soon,” said Metiel as a Duel Disk was conjured out of his demonic arm, “so let’s duel!”

Curtis only activated his own Duel Disk in response.

“My turn,” said Curtis, “and I play Destiny Hero-Diamond Dude in Attack Mode!” (1400/1600)

A man with grey hair & a green cape appeared. There were several diamond shards sticking out of its body & also functioning as his ‘eyes’.

“Now I use his ability to see the top card of my deck,” said Curtis as he revealed the card as a Normal Spell Card called Destiny Draw, “bingo!”

“Ok, so now what happens next?” questioned Metiel.

“Since that was a Normal Spell Card, I can send it to the graveyard & its effect will activate on my next turn,” said Curtis, “in other words, I can obtain a minimum of 3 cards on my next turn. Until then, I place 1 card face-down & there goes my turn.”

“Weaklings always do make weak moves, don’t they? My turn,” said Metiel, “From the depths of the darkest seas, I call forth my Abyssal Kingshark in Attack Mode!” (1700/600)

A burst of water was formed & soon a fish-like creature appeared. However, its appearance seems to suggest it being a Zombie instead as it was more if a skeletal fish with its 2 eyeholes emitting a light.

“Next off I play the Field Spell Card called Darkest Depths-Ocean’s Abyss!” proclaimed Metiel as the facility was submerged into an underwater environment that was utterly dark.

“Save us! We’re underwater! And we can’t swim! It’s so dark, and I’m night-blind!” cried the hiker in a thick German accent as he stupidly struggled against the tides of the new Field Spell.

“Get a hold of yourself!” snapped Manny, “This is only a hologram! It’s not real…hopefully.”

“Hologram…that explains everything, I thought we were merpeople for a second,” remarked Layla.

“Uhhh…are all you common humans so stupid?” wondered Manny, “how hard does it take one to tell the difference between hologram & real-life?”

“My lovely Kingshark is making himself at home in the lowest depths of the 7 seas & as such, he gains 300 Attack & Defense Points just like any other Aqua, Fish or Sea Serpent monster in the game ,” (1700/600~2000/900) said Metiel , “Now let’s see if the diamonds is truly the hardest substance on Earth. Kingshark, attack that Diamond Dude with Abyssal Takedown!”

In the darkness of the current field spell, it was hard to see what was exactly happening there, but the 2 lights that the Kingshark emitted were closing in on Diamond Dude & he was no more.

“Well, well, I guess I was wrong,” said Metiel, “even bones can break diamonds.”

“By destroying my Diamond Dude, you have already triggered my face-down card, Destiny Signal!” said Curtis as a curved D signal appeared in the sea terrain, “this lets me summon another Destiny Hero, so in Attack Mode, I give you the mighty Captain Tenacious!” (800/800)

Then, a muscular man with lengthy edgy orange hair appeared. He was only wearing a type of shorts that were unusually short & his legs were covered in armor. Attached to his 2 arms was that exact armor that functioned as his shields.

“He doesn’t seem all that mighty though,” remarked Metiel, “I place 1 face-down & end my turn to see you squirm in fear.”

“Something I won’t be doing!” said Curtis as he drew, “now that I move on to my Standby Phase, my Destiny Draw’s effect activates and…”

“Not when I play my Magic Jammer to seal off your prediction,” said Metiel as the card opened.

However, the Magic Jammer card suddenly shattered & Curtis drew out 2 cards anyway.

“Hey, I’ve negated your card’s effect! So why are you still drawing them?” demanded Metiel.

“Diamond Dude’s effect doesn’t really activate the card, just its effect only,” explained Curtis, “so I can draw 2 new cards without ditching a Destiny Hero in my hand. At the same time, my Captain’s effect also works its magic to Special Summon a destroyed comrade. Be reborn, my Diamond Dude!” (1400/1600)

A gear suddenly appeared next to Tenacious & it spun, causing a bright light. As the light dimmed, the caped diamond-stubbed warrior reappeared on the field again.

“Interesting, but those can’t stand up against my Kingshark,” said Metiel.

“Unlike you, I’m not an idiot who wastes his cards for no gain,” said Curtis, “so check out 1 of my new cards, the Pot of Greed!”

Curtis then drew 2 more cards as the green ugly pot appeared for a moment.

“It appears that my prediction was wrong, I’ve gained a total of 5 cards this turn,” said Curtis, “so I activate the Equip Spell called Fusion Sword Murasame Blade & give it to my Diamond Dude.”

A glowing crimson sword appeared that Diamond Dude took interest in, so he went & held it in his hand. (1400/1600~2200/1600)

“With a high enough Attack score, I attack your Kingshark with Diamond Shower Slash!” commanded Curtis as Diamond Dude charged at the Abyssal Kingshark.

“Foolish boy, I activate the hidden powers of my field!” proclaimed Metiel, “when 1 of my Fishes are being hooked to an attack, I can shift its Battle Position.”

Abyssal Kingshark then bent a little as Diamond Dude slashed its body in half.

“Damn, but I still have Captain Tenacious left, so get him too,” said Curtis as Captain Tenacious struck the Syntho-Daemon with his shields.

“So I use my Diamond Dude’s effect & let’s see what we’ve got here,” said Curtis as he revealed the card as Destiny Hero-Double Dude, “since that’s no Normal Spell, I will just send him to the bottom of my deck. I set 1 card face-down & leave the rest to you.”

“Draw,” said Metiel, “To join in the fray, I employ my Giant Red Seasnake in Attack Mode!” (1800/800~2100/1100)

True to its name, a large red snake appeared on the field & it roared maliciously.

“You know that they say that the more, the merrier. I will bring out more fishes with this Quick Summon Spell Card,” said Metiel, “so now I can summon a real shark, the Cyber Shark in Attack Mode too!” (2100/2000~2400/2300)

From the depths of the watery field, a new fish came out. This one was more like a shark, except that its head was metallic.

“But that’s a Level 5 Monster! How could you summon that?” questioned Curtis.

“When he controls a WATER Monster like that snake there, he can summon Cyber Shark without a Release,” said Candice.

“Brace yourself as the underwater world’s about to tear your monsters to shreds!” said Metiel as his 2 sea monsters swam in for their assault.

“Go, Staunch Defender!” said Curtis, “this pulls all your attacks towards my Diamond Dude! So, let’s start your assault with your Seasnake!”

The Giant Red Seasnake swam towards Captain Tenacious at first, but it changed course at last minute & attacked Diamond Dude instead. However, Diamond Dude retaliated by slashing the serpent. On the other hand, Cyber Shark was still locked on to its intended target & bit Diamond Dude & shattered him.

“I place another 2 more face-down cards for later,” said Metiel as he ended his turn.

“That means I draw now,” said Curtis, “and since my Captain was spared from death, he can bring back his ally, Diamond Dude!” (1400/1600)

A gear appeared next to him, and it spun & Diamond Dude reappeared again.

“I already expected that trick & came in prepared. Activate, my Torrential Tribute!” declared Metiel as the waters surrounding them suddenly grew strong & washed off all of the 3 monsters to the currents.

“Damn it! But I’m not at a loss anyway!” said Curtis, “by removing my Murasame Blade from play, I can Special Summon my Spell Striker to the field!” (600/200)

As Curtis took the card out, a small Viking-like warrior appeared & waved around his hammer.

“I activate Call of the Haunted to revive my powerful Cyber Shark,” said Metiel as Cyber Shark rose from the same waters that had taken its life earlier. (2100/2000~2400/2300)

“Even if your monster was there or not, it makes not much of a difference here because my Spell Striker can attack you directly,” revealed Curtis as Spell Striker jumped over the field & slammed Metiel with his hammer.

“Also, I summon the Phantom of Chaos in Defense Mode,” said Curtis as a swirling black orb appeared out of deep waters. (0/0)

“Am I supposed to be afraid of a ball of darkness when it has 0 points?” asked Metiel mockingly.

“He has this special ability to inherit an Effect Monster’s effect & Attack strength if I remove it from play. Therefore, I remove Diamond Dude so that my Phantom may mimic him.”

The black orb changed its form to a copy of Diamond Dude kneeling on the field. (0/0~1400/0)

“That means I can use his effect too,” said Curtis as he took out his top card, “look at this. It’s my Royal Straight Spell Card. Since it fits the criteria, it goes in my grave & a certain someone will be tagging along on my next turn. So, I end off my turn.”

At this point, Phantom of Chaos reverted back to its original form.

“I wonder who he’s planning to summon?” wondered Louis.

“I once recalled the King of Games using that card to summon some monster in a tournament duel against some kid who uses monsters from fairy tales,” claimed Candice.

“My turn!” said Metiel as he drew a card that he had wanted since the beginning, “and I play the Ritual Spell Card called Kraken’s Hammer!”

Suddenly, a massive wooden crane-like structure rose from the depths.

“In order to invoke the beast I’m about to summon, I must relinquish 7 Level stars’ worth of monsters…at least in the usual cases,” said Metiel, “Unless I discard this card here!”

Metiel took out 1 card in his hand & revealed as a dark glowing coral.

“This is my Ritual Reef, 1 of the Ritual Release Monsters that are differed by their respective Attributes & possessing the ability to offer only themselves for a Ritual Monsters,” elaborated Metiel, “so I Release Ritual Reef in order for me to Ritual Summon your doom! The Seven Seas rumbled in fear of this dreadful beast! The Grand Hammer vibrates the depths for its coming! Ritual Summon! Reverberate, Oceanic Terror-Daemon Kraken!” (2400/2000~2700/2300)

The image of Ritual Reef appeared at the bottom of the crane. However, it was smashed as the crane’s weight came tumbling down & the entire structure crashed apart, causing a tremendous shock wave in the waters. In mere moments, the waters went wild again & a new form emerged from it. It was a creature told only in sailor’s myths, the Kraken, with all generic features like massive size & long tentacles.

“That’s a rather strong thing, but I’m still protected by my 2 monsters,” said Curtis, “Phantom of Chaos is in Defense Mode & Spell Striker’s battles leave me without any Battle Damage.”

“We’ll see about that! Daemon Kraken, send that Phantom down with Davy Jones with Devil’s Tentacle Grasp!” commanded Metiel as Daemon Kraken’s tentacles swept across the field to wipe out Phantom of Chaos & eventually squeezed Curtis himself.

“That pain…it’s so real…and how I lost those points…” wondered Curtis as the grip was loosened on him.

“When my Daemon Kraken destroys a monster in battle, you take 300 points of damage,” said Metiel, “as a bonus, it can attack every monster on the field as well. So your Spell Striker is not going to be alone! Devil’s Tentacle Grasp!”

Like before, Daemon Kraken reached out for Spell Striker & also Curtis himself with its tentacles.

“With your field emptied of cards, I attack you directly with my Cyber Shark!” said Metiel as Cyber Shark swam towards Curtis & bit his body.

“With that, I end my turn,” said Metiel.

Curtis then drew his card & looked at it, the Spell Card Megamorph. Curtis smiled as he realised the newly-drawn card.

“Hmph, you should have finished me off on my pervious turn, because now your fate is sealed,” said Curtis, “during my Standby Phase, the effect of Royal Straight activates! Normally, I need to Release all 3 Poker Knights just to summon him, but that’s a cost, so it’s invalid now. I summon my Royal Straight Slasher to the field!” (2400/1350)

A large muscular masked knight in turquoise armor appeared on the field & swung his mighty sword.

“Ha! That thing can only even my Cyber Shark & Daemon Kraken can clean it off the face of the field,” mocked Metiel.

“Yeah, but that will only be in the past as I now equip him with Megamorph!” said Curtis, “so now, my monster gains double his own Attack.” (2400/1350~4800/1350)

“Even if he attacked my Cyber Shark, I’ll still be in the game & take out his monster who will be weakened as I have lower Life Points by then,” thought Metiel, “but on the other hand, he would attack my Daemon Kraken who poses more of a threat, but my Field Spell can allow me to switch my monster’s Battle Positions.”

“Now I activate my Slasher’s special ability, by sending 1 monster of the first 5 Levels in the game from my deck to the graveyard, I can destroy all your cards at once,” said Curtis, “so let’s see if I’ve got everything for this magic to work.”

“No! My Field Spell will be gone and so will I!” hollered Metiel in shock.

Curtis took out his deck & scanned through it before finding the appropriate cards for the effect.

“So I discard the Level 1 Disk Commander, Level 2 Departed, Level 3 Marauding Captain, Level 4 King’s Knight & Level 5 Double Dude!” declared Curtis as he slowly discarded all of them, “Go, Royal Flush-Out!”

Royal Straight Slasher raised his own sword & struck it on the ground with great force. This caused the dark waters around them to stir wildly. Both Daemon Kraken & Cyber Dragon were caught in the raging water & destroyed shortly.

“Finally, we are back on dry land! Hallelujah!” cried the hiker as he was on all fours on the ground.

“For the last umpteenth time, that underwater scene is not real!” snapped Manny.

“Like what you said last turn, since your side is emptied of cards, it is only right to attack you directly. Royal Straight Slash!” ordered Curtis as Royal Straight Slasher charged at Metiel & literally cut it in half.

Now, Curtis looked at the remains of his former foe as parts of it wiggled in vain & had a disgusted look on his face.

“C’mon people, let’s get outta here now!” suggested Curtis.

However, several masked grunts & Syntho-Daemons were at their tails. Fortunately, Curtis also noticed that.

“People, leave now! I will deal with them myself!” called Curtis.

Most of the people turned to see the charging forces & then quickly fled. However, Louis & Layla were reluctant in leaving their son behind.

“Mom, dad, leave now! There’s not much time!” cried Curtis.

“But we can’t bear to leave you alone facing the danger,” said Louis.

“But who says he will be alone in this,” said Candice who was armed with her own Frost Duel Disk & so was Manny.

“Best of luck, son,” said Louis as he dragged Layla out of the scene.

 

Meanwhile, in another part of the facility, there was a special room which housed the main generator that controls the entire mining operation of the rare stones that channel mind control over the common people. Gethin knew of this & that it needed to be destroyed, thus he went all the way there. Despite to its supposed level of importance, there was hardly anyone guarding the place t all.

“To think that I actually believed there would be an entire army of Syntho-Daemons or something here!” remarked Gethin as he held onto Exile of the Wicked, “whoever who is in charge of this place got to be some arrogant fool who has fallen from the Overmind’s grace.”

“How observant of you, traitor,” said a voice, “but you’re wrong; there is someone guarding here, but just 1, no more or less.”

“That voice…it’s Hashim!” exclaimed Gethin.

Out of the shadows of the generator room, an Arabian man came walking out to greet Hashim.

“Greetings, Gethin. It’s been quite a while, hasn’t it,” greeted Hashim, “and just to let you know, I’m the so-called ‘arrogant fool who has fallen from grace’.”

Destiny Hero-Diamond Dude

DARK/Warrior-Effect/LV 4/ATK 1400/DEF 1600

Once per turn, you can look at the top card of your Deck. If it is a Normal Spell Card, send it to the Graveyard and you can activate its effect during the Main Phase of your next turn. If the card is not a Normal Spell Card, place it on the bottom of your Deck.

 

Curtis: Finally, I get to have a go at this segment. Anyway, today’s card is Destiny Hero-Diamond Dude. While he doesn’t seem too strong, his potent effect allows me to check the card I’m supposed to draw on my next turn. If it were a Normal Spell Card, I can put it in my graveyard for its effect to activate during my next Standby Phase without the need of costs & fearing negation.

Gethin: Just when I thought it’s all going to be easy, I had to face Hashim. It seems that he has been training during his time here, so I need to step up my game. Next on Yu-Gi-Oh Key of the Mind-Ch 50-Gemstone Rush Part II! What the heck, I need to get past these monsters!

The Overmind should check out the "Evil Overlord List". Leaving his mind-control gems quite poorly guarded. Either it was all a trap' date=' or simply the Overmind simply considered mind controlling 'ordinary people' not that important. Meh, we'll see.

You know that link there is also something a classmate of mine once directed me to see.

 

Anyway, the Overmind had a warden here (Hashim), but Hashim chose to take Gethin out by himself so that he could be promoted to a Knight (same ranking as Blake)
