During the next day of the Special Cup, daytime fireworks were launched into the sky to create a spectacular view of the arena as people of all kinds got themselves seated.
Inside the main room, Venus & Clair were preparing themselves for the upcoming duels.
“Hope I could beat Marin…he seemed to be very powerful,” said Venus, “I may have to put everything on the line, including my Cyber Knights & it…”
“Just go for it, I will be rooting for you,” encouraged Clair.
Later on, everyone was seated for the round of matches today, including Mao, Timothy, Asuka & Thoth. Suddenly, MC Ben’s voice boomed & echoed through the arena.
“Everybody, listen!” cried MC Ben, “From 8 brave challengers, we have weeded out 4 weak points yesterday & today, 2 more weak points will be pull out of our 4 winners of old! So now, let’s give a round of applause for Duelist #1 of the first match of the day…Venus Lucia!!!”
Venus appeared out of her platform & smiled at the cheering crowd.
“And facing her will be the enigmatic & mysterious Sir Marin Defleto!” yelled MC Ben as Marin appeared from his own platform, “both duelists, set your Disks & decks for the fight of your lives!!!”

“I shall start things off with a draw,” said Marin, “and I summon the Mystic Tomato in Defense Mode.” (1400/1100)
A giant orange tomato with a fiendish face appeared.
“And that’s all for now,” said Marin.
“Say that’s a Plant-Type,” remarked Norman, “if he summoned that Black Rose Dragon, it will be an absolute advantage.”
“So that is fuel for Black Rose,” said Fuyuki, “Venus better watch out.”
“Draw,” said Venus, “I summon Cyber Knight-Tonlun in Attack Mode!” (1700/800)
The mantis-posed warrior appeared & flexed out a Mantis-like pose.
“Cut that vegetable down to size with Mantis Swipe!” said Venus as Tonlun sliced Mystic Tomato with his bare hands, “now for his effect that I failed to show last time, since he had destroyed s monster in battle, he can attack again.”
“But you’ve forgotten that my Mystic Tomato also has another effect of its own, by destroying him, I can to summon a weak DARK Monster & I choose him,” said Marin as a shaman-like fiend with a prong in its hands appeared, (1300/300) “he’s called Dark Resonator & can’t be destroyed in battle once per turn.”
“But when he’s in Attack Mode, you’re a sitting duck!” said Venus, “Go, Mantis Swipe 2!”
Tonlun struck Dark Resonator, but it shielded itself with its prongs, causing a vibration that seemed to injure Marin.

“Not only does Dark Resonator make a good Stalling monster, it is also reputed as a Tuner Monster,” remarked MC Ben, “Is the inevitable Synchro Summon coming up soon?”
“I place 1 face-down & end my turn” said Venus.
“Draw,” said Marin, “I summon the Queen’s Knight in Attack Mode!” (1500/1600)
A female knight in red armor appeared & swiped the air with her sword.
“Level 3 Tuner…Level 4 non-Tuner…he’s planning to summon it,” said Clair.
“I Tune my Level 3 Dark Resonator into the Level 4 Queen’s Knight!” exclaimed Marin as Dark Resonator tapped its own prongs & became 3 rings of light that went past Queen’s Knight.
“Oh my God! He’s summoning it!” yelled MC Ben, “hold on to your underwear, folks!”
“Chilling flames engulf the entire world! Pitch-dark flower, set into bloom! Synchro Summon! Avatar of Ruin, Black Rose Dragon!!!” (2400/1800) chanted Marin as a pink stream of light appeared & the dreadful mark of the Black Rose Witch appeared in a gust of wind, “now I use its second effect & remove my Mystic Tomato from play!”
“But so fast, I counter that with my very own Rebirth Judgment!” said Venus, “I can select a Monster Type & all monsters in our graveyards will be become monsters of the said type. Therefore, I implore all monsters to be Machines.”
“Hmm…but why Machines I wonder?” wondered Marco, “oh! Of course, that must be the case.”
“But that means Black Rose Dragon’s effect has been neutralized,” claimed MC Ben.
“But it can still attack, burn her Tonlun with Black Rose Flare!” commanded Marin as the dragon breathed its cold flames to incinerate Tonlun.

“Try to struggle under my onslaught, eh?” dared Marin, “I will just crush you with all my might! I set 2 face-downs & end my turn.”
“Draw,” said Venus, “I summon Cyber Knight-Ku in Attack Mode!” (1600/1400)
The intimidating warrior appeared & struck a deadly pose.
“I play the Burden of the Mighty Spell Card which will weaken your monsters,” said Venus. (2400/1800~1700/1800)
“My dragon’s still stronger among us!” boasted Marin.
“When Ku attacks a monster with a different Attribute from him, he gains 400 Attack Points,” said Venus.
“And Ku’s an EARTH Monster, while Black Rose is a FIRE creature…she might make it!” said Norman.
“Attack her dragon with Tiger Claw Strike!” (1600/1400~2000/1400) ordered Venus as Ku pierced into the dragon with his hands.

“Now we are evened out,” said Venus, “I end my turn.”
“This is like 1 of those old-fashion fables where noble warriors like those Cyber Knights brave through the far more powerful dragons,” described MC Ben, “who shall emerge as the victor?”
“But this is no fable, so I shall prevail! Draw!” yelled Marin, “I play Call of the Haunted to revive my Queen’s Knight!”
The knight in red reappeared again. (1500/1600~1100/1600)
“You know, every queen needs her king & my Queen’s Knight needs her King’s Knight in Attack Mode!” (1600/1400~1200/1400) said Marin as a male bearded knight in orange armor appeared., “if he’s summoned when his lovely consort is active on my side of the field, Jack’s Knight come into the scene.” (1900/1000~1400/1000)
A blue knight with the appearance of a young man appeared.
“Seriously, people should stop using cards just because some famous duelist used them before,” remarked Damataeus.
“Next off, I activate the Trap Card called Revival Gift, allowing me to revive a Tuner Monster from my graveyard like my Dark Resonator,” said Marin as the fiend shaman reappeared, (1300/300~1000/300) “but that’s not all. You get a little gift from me, 2 Gift Demon Tokens.”
In a puff of smoke & confetti, 2 black blob-like creatures appeared & shielded themselves with what that seems to be their hands. (1500/1500 x2)
“I don’t need them anyway, they look quite disgusting,” said Venus.
“Yet you will continue to be disgusted when I play the Lightwave Tuning Spell Card so that 1 Level 4 LIGHT Monster that I control becomes a Tuner Monster & King’s Knight is now my Tuner!” said Marin as King’s Knight then glowed in an orange aura & sparked off a little electricity too, “and I play Earthquake to shift the entire lot to Defense Mode.”
Every last monster on the field all bent down & knelt on sight.
“Finally, I use Giant Trunade to return all our Spell & Trap Cards to our hands,” said Marin as Call of the Haunted, Rebirth Judgment & Burden of the Mighty was blown off the field & back in their owner’s hands.
“Hey, shouldn’t Queen’s Knight be destroyed when Call of the Haunted is out of action?” wondered Kai.
“Normally, but it was destroyed, but returned to his hand, so she remains,” said Marco, “but I have a grim feeling on what he’s about to summon now. The conditions for it are just right.”
“I Tune Jack’s Knight with Dark Resonator now!” exclaimed Marin, “The uncaring heart will now file through here! Take witness to its creation-shattering powers! Synchro Summon! Soul of Aloof, Red Dragon Archfiend!” (3000/2000)
Dark Resonator became into 3 rings & flew at Jack’s Knight. Then, a blinding light shined & the demonic dragon was in view.
“And here comes Part 2 of this turn! I Tune my 2 other Poker Knights together!” yelled Marin, “Clustering hopes become a grand shining star! Become the star who envelops destrution! Synchro Summon! Soaring Hopes, Stardust Dragon!” (2500/2000)
King’s Knight became 4 rings of light & melded with Queen’s Knight. Suddenly, a blue beam of light erupted on the field. From that light, one could see a pair of large glowing wings coming out & it formed into another dragon monster. This one was white with several parts blue & stardust constantly sprinkled from its wings.
“Another Synchro Dragon! Now I’ve seen everything!” exclaimed Thoth.
“Ok, I have done my research much earlier this time,” said Juan, “another member of the 5 Dragons of the Signers is the Stardust Dragon…the trump card of Turbo Duel King, Yusei Fudo & a Level 8 WIND Dragon Synchro Monster who has a powerful protection ability to boot…”
“We know…in fact, it’s on TV like now,” said Darren as he gazed at Stardust Dragon on the TV.
“Another Signer Dragon…hope he doesn’t have the other 2 as well,” pondered Clair.
“Red Dragon Archfiend, turn my lovely presents into BBQ with your Scorching Crimson Flare!” commanded Marin.
Red Dragon Archfiend’s mouth opened & unleashed a stream of searing flames on 1 of the Gift Demon Tokens & burnt it into dust. The flames then spread to the other Token & Ku, with them also incinerated by the flames.
“I’m sure you know that Red Dragon Archfiend’s effect destroys all of your defensive monsters, clearing up your entire field with that strike alone,” said Marin calmly, “Now; Stardust Dragon will attack you directly with his Shooting Sonic!”
Stardust Dragon opened its mouth & a powerful beam of white light was launched like a sonic wave to blast at Venus.

“She just took quite a hit from that strike, it was so realistic,” grasped Norman.
“That blast…it’s so real…just who is he?” wondered Venus as she stared at Marin & his 2 dragons.
“Impressive so far,” said the Overmind, “his own will & power can even tame the wild & willful spirits of the 5 Dragons of the Signers, whose only master they recognize is a Signer.”
“Had enough, but do you want more?” said Marin, “I set my last card, Call of the Haunted, face-down & end my turn.”
“Draw,” said Venus, “I summon my Proto-Cyber Dragon in Defense Mode.” (1100/600)
A small outdated mechanical dragon appeared & screeched out a soft roar as it curled itself.
“I set 3 face-down cards & end my end,” said Venus.
“I shall rid you with this turn,” said Marin as he drew out Cosmic Blast, “I play Call of the Haunted to revive the 3rd member of the 5 Dragons, the Black Rose Dragon!” (2400/1800)
The giant red rose-like dragon appeared & roared loudly.
“Rebirth Judgment, activate!” shouted Venus as the card opened, “and I declare Machine for its effect!”
“Still so persistent, are you?” said Marin, “My Red Dragon will crush your monster with his Absolute Power Force!”
Red Dragon Archfiend’s arm burnt with flames as it punched into Proto-Cyber Dragon, but it remained there.
“I play Cyber Repairer to protect my machines from destruction, but you can draw 1 card,” said Venus.
“Regardless, its effect will still take your scrap-metal dragon to the bottom of the graveyard,” said Marin, “Demon Meteor!”
Red Dragon Archfiend launched a large fireball at the Proto-Cyber Dragon & engulfed it in its flames.
“No way! I activate Remote Revenge which will redirect your Demon Meteor to another monster like your Black Rose Dragon!” said Venus.
Suddenly, the flames mysteriously dispersed & moved on its own to attack Black Rose Dragon.
“Even more pathetic, I activate my Stardust Dragon’s effect now. Victim Sanctuary!” said Marin as Stardust Dragon shielded Black Rose Dragon from the approaching flames & slowly vanished in sprinkles of stardust, “when any card effect threatens to destroy any card on the field, I can Release him to negate & destroy that card.”
“Venus has put up a strong defense against the 5 Dragons’ assault, whose abilities leave most strategies known to the game on a standstill,” described MC Ben, “how could she overcome those monstrosities we only know in myths & legends?”
“I set 1 card & end off my turn,” said Marin, “at this point, my Stardust Dragon rises again!” (2500/2000)
A radiant burst of light appeared as Stardust Dragon rose again in all its glory.
“Oh damn, I’ve got a self-reviving monster on my hands,” lamented Venus as she drew her card, “I play Graceful Charity to draw 3 cards for the price of 2.”
As such, Venus had to draw 3 cards & quickly discarded Cyber Knight-Hor & Warrior Lady of the Wastelands to the graveyard.
“Now I play something deadly, activate the Overload Fusion Spell Card!” cried Venus as the card appeared on the field, “by removing Fusion Material Monsters on the field or in my graveyard from play, I can summon a DARK Machine-Type Fusion Monster!”
“But all you have are those warriors and Proto-Cyber…no wait, your Rebirth Judgment!” said Marin as he grew to realise Venus’ true plan.
“Yup, I remove Proto-Cyber, Warrior Lady and the 3 Cyber Knights from play to summon my almighty Chimeratech Overdragon!!!” (?/?)
The phantom forms of the 4 warriors appeared with Proto-Cyber Dragon as they all vanished for a large dark metal orb in which 5 dragon heads popped out & roared.
“She summoned it! I knew it would help her out!” cried Marco.
“There, you don’t need to get that jolted up because your girlfriend’s about to win,” teased Damataeus.
“Oh, just shut up!” retorted Marco coldly.
“Just for you to know, each of its heads represent 800 Attack Points & 1 chance of attacking. With 5 heads, it has the Attack score of 4000 & can attack up to 5 times,” (?/?~4000/4000) said Venus, “and I play Burden of the Mighty again to weaken your monsters.” (3000/2000~2200/2000, 2500/2000~1700/2000, 2400/1800~1700/1800)
“If those attacks hit Marin, he will lose due to the damage taken from the continual strikes,” remarked MC Ben.
“Take down his Stardust Dragon with Strident Blaze Overdrive!” said Venus as Chimeratech Overdragon obliterated Stardust Dragon in its infinite onslaught of Strident Blasts. However, Marin remained calm & steady.

“Your end is now! Chimer…” said Venus, but was interrupted by her opponent.
“By destroying my Stardust Dragon, you have activated this card, Cosmic Blast,” said Marin, “now you take damage equal to that dragon’s Attack score & it seems that your end awaits you now.”
The apparition of Stardust Dragon appeared one last time as it folded itself & shattered into light shards that flew at Venus.

“In another tight & breath-taking match, Marin once again takes the stage with his splendid battling skills!” said MC Ben, “I hereby pronounce the 1st finalist, Marin Defleto!”
The crowd then cheered for Marin’s victory, while Clair stared at Marin himself.
“I may have to duel him…I just know it,” muttered Clair as she clenched her fist & a nearby locker suddenly burst open.

It appears that the signer dragons are too much for even cybernetic monsters! Oh my.

Although it was a very nice close match :). Not to mention all three of the being out at once. I was surprised to see lightwave tuning there for some reason...

As for kings, queens, and jacks knight, i have heard of people who perform rush decks with them... Although they DO have a point.

The MC is obviously not paid to be nice. "From 8 brave challengers, we have weeded out 4 weak points yesterday & today."

Oh no, Gethin is up against the main character! What can he do!

Marin's deck name is one of "Chaos Synchro Dragon". It has Synchro Dragons & a colection of LIGHT & DARK Monsters for Synchro Summoning.

The Poker Knights are somewhat used quite a lot at times, so I put in the joke there.

MC Ben is just very blunt. The attitude is kind of like mine, I would call my friends "fools" if they act retarded or dumb.

As for that last part, I will tell you...summon the monster the Overmind gave him...

Not a intended double-post, but just done & putting up a new chapter...ch 43.

[spoiler=Ch 43-Anti-Life]

“That last fight brought us to exciting climaxes back & from!” described MC Ben via the PA, “but now, let’s look on the present duel between Clair Kinet & Gethin Ira! The duel will be on live in an hour’s time, so be prepared for it or be squared!”

Later on, Venus & Clair were talking with each other on what happened recently.

“Oh man, I’ve lost & I had tried so hard!” lamented Venus, “I feel like a failure sometimes!”

“Don’t be so harsh on yourself,” said Clair, “one’s failure leads to one’s success.”

“I feel someone coming here…Gethin,” said Venus.

Just then, Gethin came walking past the girl’s room & the 2 girls came out to greet him. While outside, Clair & Venus looked at him with fierce eyes.

“So now, I get to meet you as proper,” said Clair, “I don’t have eternality, I want my answers now!”

“But I have no answers,” said Gethin distressingly, “I just want to know what life is really about!”

With that, he ran off hastily.

“Strange kid, his mind’s all in a mess,” said Venus, “and he won’t be feeling to clean it up by himself.”

“Well, I will just have to clean it up myself,” said Clair.

As Gethin ran down the hallway, he bumped into someone & fell backwards.

“Oh, I’m sorry! I didn’t know where I was going and…” apologised Gethin as he looked up at the person who bumped into, the metallic bulk of his lord, the Overmind.

“You have doubts about life & existence in general, do you?” said the Overmind calmly.

“Well…you can say that, but it won’t interfere in your plans,” said Gethin.

“In fact, I shall clear your doubts regarding the topic itself,” said the Overmind, “Life & existence is only futile, only the world beyond life is truly important. This can be proven by the Anti-Life Equation, a mathematical formula that explains the futility of life. The card I had given you before the tournament is actually a hidden portion of the Anti-Life Equation; you can activate part of that formula when you win a duel. In fact, this formula exists within the sub-consciousness of every Psychic, who must experience pain as tribute for their powers.”

Saying that, the Overmind walked away & left Gethin to himself.

“If life’s futile, then what’s there to live for?” wondered Gethin, “but then, if all us Psychics must suffer under any circumstances in any form, why I avoid that fate? Doubts were not cleared, but just added to the mess. Guess I have to find the Equation itself.”

Gethin then took out his deck & flipped up his first card, a Monster Card that the Overmind had given him. Staring at it, Gethin wondered if that could give him his answers or not. Suddenly, that card glowed & he was engulfed by the light.

“So this…this is it, the truth…no…the ultimate truth!” hollered Gethin as the light consumed him.

As the light slowly dimmed, Gethin remained standing there with a malicious grin on his face.

“Pain & suffering are all there is to know…” muttered Gethin as he chuckled over it, “life has no mathematical value!”

Meanwhile, the Overmind went back to his VIP stand where he sat down with Blake & Yugi as the next match was underway.

“Where had you been?” asked Yugi.

“None of your concern, I may need you more in the near-future, so I expect you to cooperate with me” said the Overmind.

“Everybody, listen!” hollered MC Ben, “Here comes Part 2 of today’s semi-finals program of the Special Cup! Let’s give a round of applause, especially if you are a local here, for the one & only Clair Kinet!!!”

Clair came out her platform with that last shout, followed by the uproar of the fans.

“Clair is quite famous here,” remarked Miora.

“Holding some similarities with a former duelist I had the pleasure of meeting, I give you the Life Duelist, Gethin Ira!!!” hollered MC Ben as Gethin also appeared from his side & the crowd cheered once more.

“Clair, I now have the answers to the questions you seek,” said Gethin as he raised his Duel Disk, “but if you want them, you gotta duel me for them.”

“In case you didn’t know, that’s what I came here for!” replied Clair as she activated her Duel Disk.

“It seems both duelists here are all pumped up for their battle! Let’s duel!” called MC Ben as the duel was underway.

“Since I raised the question first, then I shall start,” said Clair, “I summon my Psychic Commander in Attack Mode.” (1400/800)

A militaristic being on a floating mini-tank appeared & snickered on sight.

“He may look like a warrior, but he’s really a Psychic,” said Clair, “I set 1 card & that’s it.”

“A Psychic, eh…how ironic of you to be using them,” said Gethin as he drew out his first card, “I play Ritual Spell Card, Life Illusion! By sending my Life Envoy & Life Guardian to my graveyard, I can summon the Ritual Monster called Life Illusionist to the field.” (2400/1500)

Gethin discarded his 2 monsters & a floating mage in thick cloth of a gypsy appeared.

“Life’s just an illusion that will be crushed by the might of death. Attack the Commander with Life Illusion Blast!” commanded Gethin as Life Illusionist formed a colourful orb & hurled it towards the Psychic Monster.

“I halt your attack with my Draining Shield,” said Clair, “so now all that attack of your monster is converted to health for me.”

The attack of Life Illusionist was blocked out by a force field & Clair glowed as her Life Points increased.

“With how her Psychic Monster can drain off one’s Life Points, getting more of them in easy ways are vital for Clair,” remarked Norman.

“Damn it, I set a face-down & activate my Illusionist’s effect,” said Gethin, “by Releasing him, I can summon 2 Life monsters to the field & they will be in Defense Mode.”

Life Illusionist disappeared into dust & both Life Envoy and another creature appeared. Life Envoy was the same warrior with golden armor, while Life Guardian was a half-man, half-boar creature that seemed bulky. (1200/1000, 100/2700)

“Oh look-e, there’s Life Envoy & when he’s summoned, another Life Monster comes out & play,” described MC Ben.

“So my Life Giver is the perfect candidate,” said Gethin as a female angelic witch appeared. She held a golden staff with the symbol of the Sun, (2100/1500) “there, I end my turn.”

The computer-based robot appeared & buzzed in its circuitry.

“Now I use his effect to destroy your face-down card,” said Clair as Destructotron launched an energy blast at the face-down card.

“Thanks for destroying it, my Dummy Marker,” said Gethin, “since you have destroyed it for me, I can draw 2 cards instantly.”

Gethin quickly drew 2 cards from his deck.

“Hmph, I can still do this!” exclaimed Clair, “I Tune my Psychic Commander into Destrutotron!”

“Bring it on! I can take your Dragon any time of the day!” dared Gethin.

“Who says I only have him as Level 7 Synchro,” said Clair, “Life & afterlife swing back and from! Existence is thrown into chaos with reincarnation! Synchro Summon! Arise, Psychic Lifetrancer!” (2400/2000)

Psychic Commander turned into 3 rings that coursed through Destrutotron that became 4 stars. Suddenly, a burst of light shone on the field & a female cyborg appeared. She wore an ultramarine tight suit. Most of her face & the right side of her limbs were organic, while the left side of the body was mechanical.

“It may be a Psychic, but could be considered as a Life Monster herself,” claimed Marco.

“Attack Life Giver with Chaos Mind Blast!” ordered Clair as Lifetrancer formed 2 orbs of both light & darkness. Then, she clasped the 2 orbs together that shot out & destroyed Life Giver with it.

Gethin (LP: 4500) Clair (LP: 7400)

“Too bad that my Life Giver gives me 1 final gift when destroyed, 400 Life Points,” said Gethin.

“But that won’t stop me from using Lifetrancer’s effect to gain 1200 Life Points by removing my Psychic Commander from play,” said Clair as Psychic Commander slid out of her graveyard, “with that, I set 1 face-down & end my turn.”

Gethin (LP: 4500) Clair (LP: 8600)

“Wow! Clair has her Life Points all stocked up, while her foe has barely increased his by a small margin!” described MC Ben.

“I draw,” said Gethin, “I play the Pot of Greed now!”

Gethin then drew out 2 more cards again, with 1 of them being the Monster that the Overmind spoke of.

“Let’s see how Clair can stand up to this…” thought Gethin.

“Now by removing my Life Illusionist from play, I can summon Life from Below in Defense Mode,” said Gethin as a ragged & undead version of Life Illusionist rose out of the ground. (?/?)

“In case you remembered, his attack is equal to that of the monster removed, in this case, the Life Illusionist’s,” said MC Ben. (?/?~2400/1500)

“Also, the WIND effect allows him to attack twice per turn if I pay 500 Life Points,” said Gethin, “but I won’t be using that effect. By Releasing all 3 of my Life Monsters, I can Special Summon the gift of my Lord, the soul of the Anti-Life…Forsaken Life-Aikia!” (0/0)

All 3 monsters disappeared for a lone warrior lady who eluded an eerie aura. She was donned in a long yet plain dress, similar to those of the Victorian Era & had long grey hair that covered her face. She lifted up her head to look at her surroundings, revealing a sad face with a deep frown on it.

“I feel a bit woozy,” claimed Fuyuki, “just what is it?”

“Your Majesty, what is that thing?” asked Blake, “I have never seen Gethin using that before.”

“My gift to him & the incarnation of the Anti-Life Equation,” said the Overmind.

“That monster…it echoes pain & suffering in its very form…” said Venus.

“That fool…” said the Ally as he gazed at the duel from the “unborn world”, “he is tapping into forces that are never meant to be comprehended.”

“What…what is that?” wondered Clair.

“My answer to your question,” answered Gethin, “life is futile & we only exist to feel pain & suffering. It’s as simple as that…ha-ha-hahahahaha!!!”

However, Clair wasn’t listening to Gethin’s words. Her attention was fixed at that monster that Gethin just summoned, Aikia the Forsaken Life, who was staring back at Clair herself…

Previously on Yu-Gi-Oh Key of the Mind

The Special Cup has reached till yet another exciting duel, this one between Clair Kinet & Gethin Ira. While its conclusion remains uncertain, Gethin has just summoned a new monster to join him, Forsaken Life-Aikia! It could be just me…or this creature has a deeper meaning somewhere…a meaning that I intend to find out.

As Clair continued to stare at Aikia’s look of despair, she had a set card,a long with her new Synchro Monster, the Psychic Lifetrancer. (2400/2000) However, Gethin had just summoned Forsaken Life-Aikia, (0/0) a monster that eluded fear into hearts & souls with its mere presence despite its weak stats.

“I play Reversal Quiz, which will switch our Life Points if I could guess the next card on my deck correctly,” said Gethin, “and I assume it as a Monster Card.”

Gethin took it out to see & it was indeed a Monster Card, called Life Synchron.

“How did you guess that?” wondered Clair.

“Unimportant! What is important now is that I declare the attack of Aikia! Anti-Life Embrace!” shouted Gethin as part of Aikia’s long hair stretched out to bind Lifetrancer.

“But Aikia has no Attack!” exclaimed Kai, “what can he accomplish with that?”

“When Aikia attacks, her attack target loses 1000 of its points,” explained Gethin. (2400/2000~1400/1000)

“But you will still take damage,” said Clair.

“Life’s all about the pain, so I shall suffer too!” retorted Gethin.

Despite the damage, Aikia remained on the field. However, Psychic Lifetrancer wrapped & slowly dissolved away into particles.

“However, any monster it battles with will be removed from play at the end of the Battle Phase,” said Gethin, “as you can see from that scene, life is easily weakened & its fate is in its extinction. I set 2 cards face-down & end turn.”

“I draw,” said Clair, “I summon Mind Protector in Defense Mode.” (0/2200)

A yellow mechanical being appeared & knelt down in defense.

“Ha! Aikia can destroy any Monster summoned in Defense Mode,” said Gethin as Mind Protector was destroyed by Aikai’s blast.

“Damn! I will just end my turn then,” said Clair.

“During your End Phase, another effect of Aikia activates!” claimed Gethin, “You shall take 1000 points of damage, but you can stop it if you just Release a monster that you control.”

“But I don’t have any…oh no!” exclaimed Clair as Aikia blasted her.

Gethin (LP: 7200) Clair (LP: 3500)

“Between personal suffering & sacrifice of a friend, you choose the former,” said Gethin, “how ‘noble’ of you when such nobility is but extinct as one attempts to survive selfishly & guiltlessly they did too. Maybe that pain allowed you to realise & reflect on that on your future actions during your next turn. So, I draw!”

Gethin then drew a card & looked at them.

“It won’t do good to attack you with a monster with 0 Attack points, so I skip my Battle Phase,” said Gethin, “and the rest of my turn too.”

“Draw,” said Clair, “at least, I start to understand your monster, so that I am more prepared now. I summon Mind Crusher in Attack Mode.” (1600/500)

The multi-headed being appeared & groaned in agony.

“I pay 800 Life Points to destroy Aikia! Mind Crush!” said Clair.

Mind Crusher let out a screech at Aikia, but she was ignorant of it.

“As the Anti-Life, she is uninterested by all matters of the physical world, including your pathetic card effects,” said Gethin.

“But what’s this Anti-Life you have been blabbering about allday?” demanded Clair.

“The Anti-Life…it is a mathematical formula that explains the futility of life & individualism,” explained Gethin, “with that formula, we can prove that our kind exist to rule the common masses! In fact, this card…and our souls hold merely tiny pieces of the big puzzle!”

“No one has the right to rule over others & control them like puppets!” snapped Clair.

“Actually, they do…because Aikia forces any monster in Attack Mode to attack during the Battle Phase,” said Gethin as Mind Crusher attacked Aikia.

“But I know your monster cannot protect itself from further damage, so I came prepared,” said Clair, “I play Rising Energy!” (1600/500~3100/500)

“Then it will just reduce the new score,” said Gethin. (3100/500~2100/0)

“And now your monster is history!” said Gethin as Mind Crusher disappeared from view & Psychic Commander reappeared again, “but you removed that from play, so how?”

“When you were so obsessed with your attacking, I had played Dimension Inversion,” said Clair, “when a monster has been removed from play, this card returns another monster to the field. Also, I Set 2 cards & end my turn.”

“But now, here comes the big choice,” said Gethin, “1000 points of damage or a Release, your choice?”

“I could just give up my Commander, but I have other plans for him, so I will still take the damage anyway!” said Clair boldly.

Gethin (LP: 5100) Clair (LP: 1700)

“Still so stubborn, are you. You risk your worthless life for your allies & when you finally need them, they will just abandon you as simple as that,” said Gethin sinisterly, “my turn…and I attack your Commander again with Anti-Life Embrace!”

“That’s what you think! I play Negate Attack to stop your battling,” said Clair.

“Arg…that stops nothing! You will still be defeated!” yelled Gethin, “I set 1 card & end turn!”

“Draw & I summon the Telekinetic Shocker,” (1700/700) said Clair the suited being appeared, “now I Tune Shocker with my Commander!” Ascend into a plane beyond all existence! Enlighten thee with light of guidance! Synchro Summon! Rise from nothingness, Astral Plane Dragon!” (2000/1000)

The 2 monsters disappeared in a burst of light for the famed dragon of Clair’s.

“So now, you finally showed it to us. You also used a trump card representing the next stage of life!” claimed Gethin.

“But my dragon protects the secrets bound in the next world, where else your Forsaken Life is just a lonely & sadistic fool who seeks love & understanding, yet too proud to admit it,” retorted Clair, “just like you, right?”

“At those words, Gethin flinched for a while.

“No…but she…she’s right…” thought Gethin, “all my life…I have lived in my own world, away from pain & hardships…while the other Psychics have suffered infinitely over the course of history…I just want to know what suffering is…”

The next thing that happened was that Gethin slumped down & a teardrop was seen falling onto the ground.

“When Astral Plane Dragon is Synchro Summoned, all our monsters are removed from play & it gains 300 Attack Points for each of them,” said Clair, (2000/1000~3800/1000) “I also use Rainbow Veil to protect my beast .”

Astral Plane Dragon was then covered up by a rainbow aura.

“Yeah! With that screened up, Astral Plane Dragon can bypass monster effects when he is attacking them!” said Norman.

“And that means Aikia can be destroyed at last!” continued Fuyuki.

“Let’s go, Astral Burst!” said Clair as her dragon unleashed a powerful multi-coloured blast & destroyed Aikia.

“Astounding! Clair has just subdued the near-immortal Forsaken Life-Aikia with her own lethal combinations!” described MC Ben, “not to mention that she just pulled the scores to a full reverse in a flash!”

“Take that, you jerk!” said Clair.

“I activate my Trap Card, Rebirth Wheel,” said Gethin.

The face-down card opened, showing an ancient wheel-like object with runes & ancient imagery inscribed.

“It activates only when a Life Monster has been destroyed in battle & this card Special Summons a monster that is removed from play in Defense Mode if it has a lower Level. So, I select my Life Envoy!” said Gethin as the yellow-armored warrior reappeared, (1200/1000) “and when he is summoned to the field, another Life Monster is summoned too! So, let’s welcome my Life Synchron!” (1200/400)

Another small humanoid being appeared on the field, next to Life Envoy. This one looked like a small & young wizard.

“I end my turn anyway,” said Clair.

“Draw,” said Gethin, “and now, like you, I also conduct the Tuning of my Life Envoy with my Life Synchron!”

“What! That Synchron…it’s a Tuner!” exclaimed Clair.

“Of course, now taste your own defeat!” cried Gethin, “The threads of life intertwine for a grand destiny! Become the light that shines along its lines! Synchro Summon! Come out now, my Life Eradicator!” (2600/2000)

Life Synchron turned into 3 rings that went past Life Envoy who dissolved into 4 orbs. A ray of light erupted & a winged humanoid demon in golden armor appeared.

“Also, when Life Synchron has been sent to the graveyard just to summon a Synchro Monster, I can gain half of the Synchro Monster’s Attack Points,” continued Gethin, “but I can use my Eradicator’s own ability to distribute it to you as damage.”

Gethin (LP: 1950) Clair (LP: 1050)

“Now I remove Forsaken Life-Aikia from play to destroy your Astral Plane Dragon,” said Gethin as Life Eradicator generated an orb & hurled it at Astral Plane Dragon to destroy it.

“I activate Cosmic Blast!” announced Clair.

“Oh, she has that card too,” mused Marin, “game, set & match.”

“It appears that Marin isn’t the only one on the block with that card,” said MC Ben, “the rest is already clear to us with this move.”

“If you remembered what happened just now, this card is also going to damage you an amount equal to my Dragon’s Attack…an amount that you couldn’t recover from this time,” said Clair as Astral Plane Dragon appeared one last time before it shattered& hit Gethin directly.

“After twists & turns of the plot, we have reached its climax & now the epilogue!” announced MC Ben, “and I declare our winner, Clair Kinet!!!”

As Clair was being cheered on by her fans, she silently looked at Gethin who was kneeling down & drowned in his tears.

“Coul…could there be…mor…more to…li…life after all?” wondered Gethin, “could there?”

“Excellent job, Ms Clair,” said the old man, “for this, call me The Ally from now on & that medallion you held is vital to the Grand Design.”

“Huh?” wondered Clair as she somehow heard everything the Ally had said, “so he’s the Ally…my ally…”

“I’ll see you soon, milady,” said Marin, “between your Astral Plane & my Stardust, Dragon Archfiend & Black Rose…who will trump over the other? We will know that soon…very soon…”

“She may be working for the White Hawks against me & delude herself that she is saving her weak foster family,” said the Overmind, “but little does she know that she is only walking right into my trap.”

“That idiot!” cursed Blake, “he had to duel in this tournament & foil our plans like that!”

“I knew it! I knew she could do it!” exclaimed Venus excitedly as she fidgeted around, while confined to her own wheelchair, but a sudden jolt pushed her off & Venus had to climb up herself.

“Huh?” wondered Venus as she realised what just happened, “I…I can…walk…I can walk! This is my lucky day!”

“We will then see our final match today, but you have to wait for 2 more hours before then,” said MC Ben, “until then, expect 1 of the greatest Duels since Yugi Muto & Seto Kaiba in Battle City or Yusei Fudo & Jack Atlas in Fortune Cup. See y’all!”

This card cannot be Normal Summoned or Set. This card can only be Special Summoned by Releasing 3 Life Monsters on your side of the field. This card cannot be destroyed in battle or by card effects. When your opponent controls a monster in Defense Mode, destroy that monster. This card must attack every monster your opponent controls during the Battle Phase of your turn. When a monster battles with this card, its Attack & Defense are decreased by 1000. Any monster that battles with this card are removed from play after the Battle Phase. During your opponent’s End Phase, inflict 1000 points of Damage to your opponent. Your opponent can negate this effect by Releasing 1 monster he controls. As long as this card is on the field, you cannot Summon a Monster.

Gethin: Alright…today’s Card is actually Forsaken Life-Aikia, something I don’t really want to talk about, but I still had to anyway. I could only summon her by Releasing 3 Life Monsters, for starters. She is known to be a portion of the Anti-Life Equation, the so-called “formula” that belittles life & freewill. Even her effects represent that, by destroying defensive monsters & forcing offensive creatures into battle, but only to be weakened & ultimately destroyed in the end. She can even damage the opponent, given that he made no Release to save his own worthless skin. Seriously, I don’t recommend anyone in their right minds to even use it!

Overmind: During that last match, I have seen through Gethin’s true colours & now deem him as a traitor of high treason to my plans! Blake & Marin, the both of you must locate that ingrate before he finds Kinet & spills his guts out to them! Next on Yu-Gi-Oh Key of the Mind-Ch 45-Blind Atonement! My plans are too perfected now to be stopped & I shall not be stopped by anyone!

Ancient Fairy Dragon's effect may not be much,but I will still find a way to use it. After all, the character using it is after all the 2un-in-command of the Psychics

During the long-2 hour break of the Special Cup before the final match, Clair was taking a little break in her room as Mind Master flew towards her.

“Beep-beep-buzz,” cried Mind Master.

“I know…what we can be messing with can be dangerous, but we must still do it for them,” reasoned Clair, “look, I will be more careful, I promise.”

“Beep…” was the only reply from the Duel Spirit.

“Glad you understand & I appreciate your concern,” said Clair as Norman came in.

“Hello, heard some voices inside…is everything fine?” asked Norman.

“It’s ok, all alright here,” said Clair.

“Charles & Juan have sent word of some data regarding the 5 Dragons you will be facing soon,” said Norman as he handed her the paper.

“Yah, I will take the time on it,” said Clair as Norman was about to leave the room.

“Wait for a while, Norman. I want to do something & do you mind helping me out?” asked Clair.

“Ok, I would be glad to aid you,” said Norman.

“It’s that old medallion you gave me, I think it is vital to his plans, the Overmind’s plans,” said Clair as she went to a drawer to find it.

Eventually, Clair took out her medallion that her grandmother left behind from that drawer & carefully inspected it. It was golden & of an unknown pre-civilization design with a crimson ruby attached onto its centre.

“I don’t get it, it’s just a medallion. Whatever value of importance could it be?” wondered Clair as she looked at it again, “Oh, there’s something after all!”

Clair then felt something around the circumference of the medallion, runes apparently. Clair took out a cloth & gently wiped the medallion until the inscription was clear to see. However, they were of some ancient & unknown language.

“Oh great, we got something at last & it has to be in…eh…the language of I don’t know!” claimed Clair.

“Actually, Juan might know. After all he knows nearly everything,” said Norman as he took out a handphone & took a picture of it with its camera, “I will be sending him its picture & he may be able to decipher them.”

As Norman left the room, Clair looked at the medallion itself & stared at it intensively.

“Perhaps I should wear it this time & keep it dangling on my neck,” said Clair as she hung it around her neck & it then glowed red as she wore it.

Meanwhile, up inside the VIP booth, the Overmind stood alone, facing the glass wall out to the Stadium itself in a dazed & vacant stare. His gaunt form held a steady disposition as he gazed at the emptiness of his surroundings with something within the tight grip of his right hand.

“Sir, look at your medallion,” said Blake, “I think it’s glowing. What does it mean?”

Blake was right on this. As the Overmind loosened his grip on the right hand, his medallion was indeed glowing brightly. It was almost an exact replica of Clair’s medallion except that this one was silver overall with a sapphire inside. It was glowing in a strong shade of blue that illuminated part of the Overmind’s armor-plated palm. Similar to Clair’s medallion, there were also inscriptions of an unknown tongue on it too, although they were different from the ones in Clair’s medallion.

“So she finally wore it,” thought the Overmind.

“Indeed, what does that glowing mean?” asked Marin.

“It means that my plans is all coming together & the stars are set to move towards their final stage before a new dawn shines before us in eternal glory,” said the Overmind.

“For your sake, I will not fail you!” vowed Marin.

“No need for the vow, Marin. Your dueling is more than enough, that is after all the main point of my plans,” said the Overmind, “your victory or defeat will still bring forth the unavoidable destiny of our ultimate victory.”

“Well-said, but I will still defeat Clair Kinet & bring her over to us,” assured Marin.

“He knows better than to betray Your Grandness! Don’t he remember the price for treason?” shouted Blake, “I think he wants some attention drawn to him.”

“Never mind what he may want & mind what I want!” said the Overmind sternly, “and what I want now is for someone to go out there, find Gethin & then put him in custody!”

“As your Knight who has been charged with the duty to protect you from threats & traitors, I will do it! I will locate Gethin as soon as possible & apprehend that little backstabber.” suggested Blake.

“Great, now go,” said the Overmind as Blake rushed out, “and now, Marin, let’s talk about how you are handling those new Dragons of yours that I have presented to you.”

“They are great, sir,” said Marin, “just all I could dream of is here. Though they could be a bit powerful sometimes, I could still keep them in line.”

“Like I had stressed repeatedly, the next duel…that last duel…is important, no, very very extremely important,” said the Overmind.

“Like I have said before, I will never fail you,” reassured Marin, “my loyalty to you has always been so & still growing ever-stronger, even before you rose to power.”

“I’m not speaking of your victory or loyalty or ability! I am speaking of the duel itself!” said the Overmind, “no matter what happened, bring this duel to the most intense level you have ever experienced before & that environment will truly test Clair’s mental limits.”

“As you wished, my Lord,” said Marin, “I will duel with my all, just as I always had given my all to your cause.”

“But why he cares so much about the girl…is she of a great value to His Supremeness?” thought Marin.

“And before I forget, I have something for you,” said the Overmind as he held a card on his other hand, “take it & that’s an order.”

As Marin knelt to receive the card, he looked at it intensively.

“So you have made Ancient Fairy Dragon, the 4th Dragon of Luna,” said Marin.

“Are you happy of its inclusion?” said the Overmind, “accept them & victory is within your grasp.”

“Thank you, my Lord. You have my eternal gratitude,” said Marin calmly.

Outside the Stadium, Norman was typing something on his phone.

The said artifact is currently possessed by Clair Kinet & the earliest ever owner was Maria Kinet, Clair’s grandmother. As you can see around the perimeter, there are several runes inscribed on it. With that message done, he quickly sent it away to Juan.

“Hope he could do the job…” murmured Norman, “…I don’t know anyone else who can even try.”

As he looked around, he noticed Teong walking by.

“What is he doing here?” wondered Norman as he followed him.

Meanwhile, in the White Hawk HQ, it was mostly empty due to the long break before the big match. In fact, only Juan was left there & he was typing diligently on his laptop in a rapid pace. Suddenly, his phone made a ring in his pocket.

“Message alert…from the…special work phone!” claimed Juan as he took out a few handphones from his pocket & took a white one, “so it’s Norman…and he sent me a artifact & some weird symbols that I’m supposed to decipher for him. No problem, my friend!”

As such, he opened a new program on his laptop called ‘Ancient Rune Decoder 2070’ & typed away in his attempt to decipher the mysterious runes.

“Let me see here…it could be Atlantian…let’s see…” said Juan, “what! Negative results! Let’s try this one then…Pre-Aryan…”

Meanwhile, inside Venus’ room, she was not alone. Dr Teong was also accompanying her & examining her legs.

“Glad that you made the house call, Venus,” remarked Teong, “and your legs…they have fully recovered! It’s amazing!”

“I know it’s weird too, I can tell & that’s why I called you,” said Venus, “didn’t you once say the paralyze thing will last for at least half a year, but now it just healed itself.”

“You can get a refund from the hospital if you wanted to,” said Teong.

“That’s not what I meant! I just felt that it’s too strange & ask for your expertise in the field to help me out,” clarified Venus.

“Well, the healing is just way too perfect & complete and…maybe it could be…” murmured Teong aloud.

“Perhaps it could be massive quantities of Duel Energy that jolted her lower body,” said Norman as he walked in, “sorry to intrude on you & to take away your job, Teong. But that was what you taught me back then.”

“Actually, Dr Eisenstein did. I just put that in theory, but was never put in practical,” said Teong, “but it is possible & current technologies allow this apparently.”

“Just like how I managed to restore lost memories by that same method,” said Norman, “so it could even heal body injuries too.”

“This could be a big medical breakthrough, Norman!” said Teong excitedly, “but it also worries me too. According to my theories, only when lots and lots of Duel Energy are produced at once, then it is only possible. There were in fact instances when someone would try to use Duel Energy to…”

“No way! You couldn’t be serious about it!” exclaimed Norman.

“Look at all those previous attempts in the past, Norman!” reasoned Teong, “Kagemaru once used that power to reverse himself. Yubel once amassed that energy to rebuild its body. Rex Goodwin even harvested the power in the form of Momentum to revive the Crimson Dragon. Can’t you see the truth?”

“No, we were played for fools…” said Norman, “Damn! I must find Clair now!”

Also, along the hallways of the Stadium, Gethin had been trying to find his way around.

“I need to find her quickly or else…” said Gethin frantically.

“Or else what?” called a voice, “Afraid you would be punished badly for your treachery & put away from your comfortable life for good.”

“That voice…Sir Blake!” exclaimed Gethin.

As such, Blake appeared from the shadows of the area. He was snickering at his fellow Psychic.

“Always the sharp one, were you?” said Gethin, “A pity that you must betray us, though I expect that from you one day.”

“What…you had already expected that…for how long…” inquired Gethin.

“Let’s just say it was a long time ago,” said Blake, “but let’s cut to the chase! You are planning to spill your guts to the enemy & I can’t allow that!”

“But can’t you see, we are all wrong!” said Gethin.

“Shut up! By saying that, it means that you believe that our Master’s ideals were wrong!” said Blake, “This is far worse now, boy! Come with me!”

“Oh no! I would rather go out in a fight than to come along quietly,” said Gethin as he raised his Duel Disk.

Blake, seeing this, simply chuckled & his own Duel Disk was automatically unfolded on his wrist.

“Let’s duel!” shouted Gethin.

“If you can, boy,” mocked Blake.

“Our organization’s dueling rules state that the minor or inexperienced member shall go first in a duel & I draw,” said Gethin as he drew his card.

“Funny how a traitor still follows the rules here,” mused Blake.

“Wait till you see this! I activate the Continuous Spell Card called Life Atoned!” said Gethin.

The card appeared, showing a semi-demonic/angelic being kneeling before the glowing silhouette of Shinato, King of the Higher Plane in a temple.

“With this card, I shall atone for my crimes,” said Gethin, “and I summon the Life Anarchist in Attack Mode.” (1800/600)

A black cloaked knight appeared. He was wearing a Guy Fawkes mask & draped in a thick long black cloak with a long sword in his grip.

“Kinda reminds you of V for Vendetta, doesn’t it?” wondered Gethin, “but I set 2 face-downs & end my turn.”

“I never did like that movie. It badmouths the existence of absolute political parties & they should lead the world order instead. But I draw anyway,” said Blake, “I set a monster face-down & another card to back it up & that’s all for now.”

“Look who’s talking big just now & he’s now ducking behind his cards,” said Gethin as he drew, “Attack, my Life Anarchist! Vendetta Slash!”

Life Anarchist swopped past the hidden monster, which was revealed as a shady-looking construction worker. (1000/1000) He was shortly destroyed by the slash.

“Hey, why did I just lose some Points here?” wondered Blake.

“When he destroys a monster in battle, my Life Anarchist deals you damage equal to half of its Defense,” explained Gethin.

“No matter, thanks for destroying my Dark Constructor anyway,” said Blake, “when he is flipped up, I can take a Field Spell & add it to my hand. What it could be should be rather obvious to you.”

Blake took out his deck & searched for Advanced Dark, which he added to his hand.

“So you are planning to use that Field Spell after all,” said Gethin, “You’re always too afraid to use the Crystal Beasts on their own. Maybe you fear that they would disobey you & endanger your miserable life! Anyway, Life Atoned has activated due to a monster’s demise & it gains an Atonement Counter on it.”

An orb of light flew out of Blake’s graveyard & was absorbed into the card.

“So what! Just end your turn & we’ll see who the real coward here is!” mocked Blake.

“It has ended already,” rebuked Gethin.

“Whatever!” said Blake as he drew, “I activate my Advanced Dark Field Spell anyways.”

“Surprise! I counter your efforts with World Suppression, which negates the activation of a Field Spell like your Advanced Dark,” said Gethin.

“Clever, but not clever enough to deal with me! I play Trap Jammer,” said Gethin, “so now I can use Advanced Dark safely now.”

A dark blue spell circle was formed around the field, forming an energy barrier to it.

“With it on the field at last, I can summon Crystal Beast Amethyst Cat in Attack Mode!” (1200/400) announced Blake as a purple gemstone bursted in darkness & a pink feral-looking cat with an amethyst gem attached onto a plate on her chest, “now I use her ability to attack you directly. Sic him with your Amethyst Dark Pounce!” (1200/400~600/400)

Amethyst Cat pounced over Life Anarchist & slashed at Gethin himself.

“Good shot, but I have a second shot at this too,” said Gethin, “I play Cross-Line Counter! This card adds an amount of power to my monster equal to double the damage I just took. In other words, that will be 600 x2…and that will be 1200 points.” (1800/600~3000/600, 600/400~1200/400)

“But you couldn’t attack on my turn,” reminded Blake.

“Cross-Line Counter also forces a battle with the monster that attacked me earlier,” said Gethin, “Put out that kitty with Vendetta Slash!”

“If you think you can damage me, then you’re so wrong!” said Blake, “by sending my Topaz Tiger to the grave, I can negate all the Battle Damage.”

“But Life Anarchist’s damaging effect is an Effect Damage anyway,” said Gethin.

Amethyst Cat was drawn towards Life Anarchist & pounced on him. But, she was quickly slain by his blade. As then, Blake was covered by a veil of yellow energy. Another orb flew from Blake’s graveyard & was absorbed into Life Atoned. A raw amethyst gem appeared on the field too.

“Still always afraid, are you?” mocked Gethin, “the way you hid behind a barrier like a coward & fear the souls of the 7 Crystal Beasts. You don’t see Marin using some card to bind the 5 Dragons, he used his own will!”

“You…you…I place 1 face-down & end my turn,” said Blake.

“I draw again,” said Gethin, “I attack you with my Life Anarc…”

“Sorry, but I play this, my Crystal Raigeki!” said Blake, “This card needs me to offer a crystal, but it also destroys 1 card like your Life Anarchist.”

“But my Life Anarchist will deal you damage equal to half its Attack when he is destroyed,” said Gethin.

The amethyst gemstone flashed out lightning that hit Life Anarchist. Suddenly, he thrust his blade at Blake before the lightning destroyed him.

Blake (LP: 2400) Gethin (LP: 4000)

“So I see,” said Gethin, “I play my Life Lancer then & he will be in Attack Mode.” (1600/1200)

A medieval-like knight in bronze armor appeared. He carried a lance & a shield in his hands.

“I set a card & end my turn,” said Blake.

“Draw,” said Gethin, “I summon the Crystal Beast Sapphire Pegasus in Attack Mode!” (1800/1200)

Suddenly, a sapphire gemstone bursted in darkness to form a new creature. It was feral-looking winged horse with sapphire located on the underside of its wings & in his horn.

“When he is summoned, I can put a new crystal to the field & I select my Cobalt Eagle,” said Blake as a cobalt gemstone appeared on the field, “With that done, I play Crystal Blessings. This card will dig out 2 Crystal Beasts in my graveyard & put them on display.”

2 gemstones the appeared, one is a topaz, while the other one was an amethyst.

“But what can they do like this?” wondered Gethin.

“By being on the field allows me to play Crystal Beacon to summon a third Crystal Beast to the field if I got 2 gemstones on my side,” said Blake, “and I choose the best of them all, Crystal Beast Ruby Carbuncle!” (300/300)

A small blue cat-like creature appeared. It had a ruby on its forehead & the tip of its tail. It cried as the darkness took it over.

“Since it was Special Summoned, I can awake every dormant Crystal Beast that I had on the field. Awaken, my enslaved army by the glow of Ruby Dark Rampage!” called Blake.

All the raw gemstones broke apart in darkness as new creatures replaced them. Besides Amethyst Cat, there were 2 other creatures as well. The first was a horned white tiger with black stripes that had topaz stones attached to the 2 sides of its neck. (1600/1000) The second was a brown-feathered eagle with cobalt attached to the underside of its wings. Both of them groaned as they were subjugated to Advanced Dark’s powers. (1400/800)

“Now I will attack you, starting with my Topaz Tiger. Topaz Dark Shred!” commanded Blake as Topaz Tiger jumped in for the attack.

“But that’s a suicide shot!” hollered Gethin, “and your Pegasus can handle him all the same & even better too.”

“That’s where a special ability comes into the scene,” explained Blake, “my Tiger gains 400 Attack Points during a battle when he attacks.” (1600/1000~2000/1000)

“But I play Life Link & I reduce my Life Points by 500, just enough to hold off your assaults!” said Gethin. (2000/1000~1500/1000)

As Topaz Tiger charged in for the attack, Life Lancer pierced through him with his lance & destroyed it instead. However, Blake was concealed by a green aura. Life Atoned gained a new Counter as well.

“By discarding my Emerald Turtle, I remain safe from damage,” said Blake as he discarded the card.

Blake (LP: 2400) Gethin (LP: 3500)

“But that was but futile in comparison to what I have in store for you!” said Blake, “Sapphire Pegasus, blast that Lancer to next Saturday with your Sapphire Dark Horn!”

Sapphire Pegasus launched a black whirlwind from its horn to destroy Life Lancer. Also, Life Atoned activated too.

“Now, the rest of you shall attack you directly!” said Blake, “starting with the Cobalt Dark Wing!”

Cobalt Eagle swopped & swiped Gethin with its wings.

“Followed by the Amethyst Dark Pounce!” ordered Blake as Amethyst Cat scratched Gethin badly.

“Last, but not the least, my Ruby Carbuncle’s Ruby Dark Shot!” ordered Blake as Ruby Carbuncle shot out a blast of darkness at Gethin.

Blake (LP: 2300) Gethin (LP: 400)

“Almost had you where I wanted, but I will just end my turn for now,” said Blake.

“I draw,” said Gethin, “You just said you had me there, but I will just have to prove you wrong now.”

“What are you bragging to me, boy?” yelled Blake.

“Since the beginning of the duel, Life Atoned have remained there & have obtained a total of 5 Atonement Counters over the course of the duel,” recounted Gethin, “with 5 of them attached, I can now destroy it to play a new monster! I summon the Redeemed Life-Lucif!” (2800/1400)

Life Atoned was shattered into shards of light as a swirling vortex opened in the ground. A great beam of orange & yellow light shone from the vortex & it shot out of it. As the light died down, it revealed to be an angelic demon of some kind. His face had a look of mercy & grace, yet its body had a few demonic qualities as well.

“You played a card representing Lucifer, the fallen angel who would grow to become the Devil of Satan!” said Blake, “what ironic can you get?”

“But this is Lucif, a different angel who once sided with Lucifer during his rebellion. Despite that, Lucif had spent nearly eternality to redeem himself. What happened to him no one knows, but I’m still sure that God welcomed him back with open arms in the end,” said Gethin, “back to the duel now, I continue the game with Specimen Inspection.”

The card appeared, showing a collection of bones & skeletons.

“By discarding a monster, I can declare a Type & Level. Then, you must throw out a monster with that certain description,” said Gethin as he discarded Life Warrior, “So I choose Level 4 & Beast Type! So anyone with those details, but I know who is it anyway? Just show me the final Crystal Beast, Amber Mammoth!”

Blake remained quiet, but merely showed the card & discarded it.

“But honestly, what could you possibly achieve by this?” asked Blake.

“Oh shut up! I attack your Ruby Carbuncle with Lucif!” commanded Gethin.

“Well, I could just…” said Blake, “wait! You’ve just cleaned my deck & hand off all the Crystal Beasts!”

“Took you long enough to realise, now embrace his Light of Atonement!” shouted Gethin.

Upon that command, Lucif unleashed a powerful burst of pure light from its very form. The graceful & bright light shone over the field & the 5 Crystal Beasts temporary regained their original forms when bathed in the light. Ruby Carbuncle smiled as it soon shattered into shards.

Blake (LP: 0) Gethin (LP: 400)

“No! I lost…to that squirt…” muttered Blake as he pounded the floor in defeat, “but…it’s impossible…was that a…a fluke?”

“Your defeat was no mere fluke,” explained Marin who approached them, “I’ve in fact seen everything since your last turn, Marin & you are dumb to let your guard down.”

“Get your guard down…” wondered Gethin as he heard Marin’s words.

Marin then walked up to Blake’s side & picked up his last card on hand. It was the Spell Card called Heavy Storm.

“I just don’t get it. You could have used that card to destroy that card, Life Atoned,” explained Marin, “but the odd thing is that you knew what that card could do.”

“What! He knew what it did, but why he didn’t destroy it!” thought Gethin.

“Why you…because…that…that’ll destroy Advanced Dark,” stuttered Blake as his face was buried to the ground, “I couldn’t…just couldn’t…I don’t wanna…wanna suffer if that…that Seal breaks…the Crystal Beasts…they’ll punish me…badly…”

“Pathetic! Return to His Lordship now, the final match is about to begin soon,” instructed Marin, “and Gethin!”

At that call, Gethin stared at Marin, his former superior & mentor in the Psychic affairs.

“Yah?” replied Gethin as he prepared to duel Marin if he had to have to.

“You have only 60 seconds to leave this Stadium & never come back, or else I will personally defeat you,” warned Marin.

“What?” exclaimed Gethin, “what are you doing?”

“Blake’s just a fool who is still in the dark about His Grandness’ plans, but I know better,” explained Marin, “you have no importance in this, or rather your importance has been outlived. So, go before I changed my mind.”

“Thanks…Sir Marin,” said Gethin as he dashed out quickly.

“After all this, and you still respected me so much,” mused Marin, “but now, my duel with Clair is around the corner & to His Grandness’ recovery I shall fight!”

He then hoisted his sword up high above his head in a vow.

In the White Hawks HQ, Juan had been desperately typing on his laptop for his search for answers.

“Ok, I’ve tried nearly everything on the list by now, but I couldn’t give up just yet,” said Juan, “let’s go with Ancient Aztec…negative results again…maybe it could be from a civilization predating even Atlantis! What a find, this causes only for 1 thing left.”

Also, back in the VIP Stand, Blake stood ashamed in front of his leader, the Overmind.

“I’m truly sorry, my Lord for my failure,” apologised Blake, “you may punish me in any way you choose, Sir.”

“Foolish talk, I still need you in the future combat that follows soon,” said the Overmind, “now go & ensure that o one goes & interrupt this final match.”

“Yes, Your Highness,” said Blake as he left the room.

Meanwhile, Norman was searching for Clair who was not in her room following his leave earlier. He was very flustered by his desperate look.

“She must know the truth! We can’t allow her to keep on dueling!” thought Norman.

Suddenly, Blake appeared along with a couple of masked grunts.

“So, we meet again, Mr. White,” greeted Blake, “the tournament’s final match is about to start very soon & we must ensure that you return to your seats now.”

“Why you so of a bit…” snapped Norman as he grabbed Blake.

“Well, how true you’re,” remarked Blake, “could you read minds too?”

“Not funny, Blake,” said Norman angrily, “fine, I’ll return to my seat, but just 1 dumb move & you watch out!”

“Oh, is that a threat from a commoner?” wondered Blake mockingly, “I’m so scared, if only you have a fire-breathing dragon breathing down my neck. But wait, I believe that’s what the dueling field will smell like when you pick up Clair’s unconscious body, if there were any remains of her that is…”

Along his way to his seat, Norman swallowed his pride & just walked calmly away from Blake, who was teasing like mad to no end.

Blake is aware that what he is controlling here there are the actual Crystal Beasts that Jesse once used. He's more afraid that if he had no Advanced Dark, they would turn on him & duel spirits work in ways beyond a Psychic's control.

After the 2-hour long break, everyone had magically returned to their seats & the entire Stadium was bustling with people anticipating a titanic battle. Norman had quite a hard time around here. After being rampantly chided by Blake & his cockiness, he had to navigate his way to his seat across the sea of people who were less than grateful for Norman’s movements. But he finally got on his seat.

“Boy, you looked flushed,” claimed Miora, “what happened to you during those 2 hours?”

“Nah, it’s all nothing big,” reassured Norman, “let’s watch this duel anyway.”

“And learn what he’s really planning first-hand, but it could be dearly,” thought Norman.

Meanwhile, the other White Hawk members (save for Norman & Teong) returned to their base for the final match.

“So Juan, did anyone called while we were gone?” asked Charles.

“Just Norman asking me to do him a small favour,” said Juan, “one that I’m still trying to do right now.”

“Not like every day that you actually have a hard time with your computer here,” said Caius tauntingly, “it must be very hard then.”

“Oh shut up, Caius!” retorted Juan as he returned to his laptop.

“Hey, guys, the show’s about to start!” called Genevieve as she lounged on the sofa.

“And also, did anyone see Teong?” asked Martin.

“He told me that he went off earlier on a house call,” said Darren, “and he’s still there, in the Stadium itself to be precise.”

“Great, now we have 3 agents there,” said Charles, “now, things could be easily managed.”

Meanwhile, Venus & Teong were seeing the upcoming match on TV in her room. Gethin was secretly watching the duel himself from the back, while the Ally oversaw the upcoming scenario from the ‘unborn world’.

“Sorry, Sir Marin,” said Gethin, “you gave me the chance of freedom & I gave it up. My fate rests with the winds of chance now.”

“So it has come down to this…this should be rather…educational,” said the Ally, “hmm, that or utterly destructive…”

“Everybody, listen!” cried MC Ben, “After several long & hard duels, we have finally reached to its last! Without further talking of crap, I give you our finalists, Clair Kinet & Marin Defleto!!!”

Both Clair with her medallion attached & Marin rose from their respective platforms & they activated their Duel Disks at once, without waiting for any signs to begin.

“Oh it seems our duelists are extremely eager to kick things off,” commented MC Ben, “I shall grant them their wish then! Let’s begin!”

“Quite regular moves for a first turn, but let me show you something,” said Marin as he drew, “I think a little scenery change is in order here to suit my dragons, so I activate the Field Spell Tiamut’s Nest of Wealth!”

Suddenly, the 2 duelists were transported to a dark cavern. It had several stalactites & golden treasures everywhere.

“Where are we? The cave of Ali Baba & his 40 Thieves?” wondered Clair.

“Firstly, Ali Baba is one of the 40 Thieves & we are currently deep within the domain of Tiamut, the 5-Headed Queen of Dark Dragons,” proclaimed Marin, “Dragons of all kinds are quite a greedy lot who craves for infinite materialistic wealth & Tiamut hid her forces’ fortune in an underground cavern to prevent discovery. What a rare sight for us humans too, hope we can survive it too. But for now, I summon the Necro Gardna in Attack Mode.” (600/1300)

A hunched back warrior in red armor & white hair appeared on the field.

“But isn’t that better off in Defense Mode?” wondered Fuyuki.

“Now I play Double Summon & gang up on you by summoning my second monster, the Tuner Monster Hyper Synchron!” (1600/800) said Marin as a yellow & blue humanoid machine appeared, “now I Tune my Hyper Synchron into Necro Gardna!”

“Level 3 plus Level 4…that’s Level 7!” claimed Marco, “people, duck!”

“He’s about to summon Black Rose Dragon!” yelled Kai.

“Who says he’s my only Level 7 Synchro here…” said Marin calmly.

“You…you have another Synchro Dragon, don’t you?” said Clair.

“Smart girl there,” said Marin, “Ancient spirits lay unrested! Its guardian that lay asleep, awaken to the call of destruction! Synchro Summon! Radiant Peace, Ancient Fairy Dragon!!” (2100/3000)

A hatch in Hyper Synchron’s chest opened up & a cluster of 4 stars flew out as the monster itself shattered. Then, the stars became 4 rings that turned Necro Gardna into 3 stars & a beam of light shone. This time, it formed into a turquoise serpentine dragon with a long flowing mane. It also had 2 large butterfly wings spanning out in grace & it screeched in its appearance. Unknown to most people in the Stadium, a dark cloud was brewing up in the heavens.

“That’s weird, the weatherman just said it would be clear & sunny today,” wondered Yugi.

“Yes, it’s all going exactly according to plan,” said the Overmind.

“Gulp…here it comes,” muttered Clair, “good thing she’s only non-offensive…”

“Now for my Synchron’s effect, if it was used in the Tuning of a Dragon-Type Synchro Monster, the Dragon monster itself gains 800 Attack points,” (2100/3000~2900/3000) said Marin, “also the effect of Tiamut’s Nest of Fortunes allows me to draw a new card during my Main Phase 1 if I possessed a Level 7 or higher Dragon monster.

As such, Marin drew a card from his deck. It was the Effect Monster, Goldd, Wu-Lord of Dark World.

“And now, attack Psychic Snail with Light of Harmonia!” ordered Marin.

Ancient Fairy Dragon opened its mouth & launched a powerful beam of orange light from it to engulf the Psychic Snail.

“Now I play Dimensionhole, which removes my Dragon out of the game for a while,” said Marin as a vortex opened & Ancient Fairy Dragon was absorbed into it.

“But why did he do that?” wondered Kai, “the pretty dragon’s gone!”

“Because during his End Phase, Ancient Fairy Dragon will be removed from the game by its own effect,” explained Marco, “but by doing this, Marin can have him back on his next turn & I’m quite keen to see its effect in action myself…”

“With that done, I set 2 cards face-down & end my turn,” said Marin.

“Draw,” said Clair, “I play the Trap Card Psycho-Necromancy! This card can revive a Psychic Monster from my graveyard, but I need to pay 300 Life Points to do so & during each of my End Phase & its attack will be halved too. Be reborn, my Psychic Snail!” (1900/1200~950/600)

The face-down card opened, showing a Kozaky reviving a Magical Android in a scene similar to Frankenstein & the snail-like Psychic monster reappeared again.

“Now I summon my favourite Mind Master to the field,” (100/200) said Clair as the floating being appeared; “now I will follow your lead & Tune Mind Master into Psychic Snail! Ancient magic & distant technology combine as 1 force to lead a path straight to the stars. Soul of silicon, align into existence. Synchro Summon, Magical Android!” (2400/1700)

The 2 monsters then formed into a feminine cyborg with ancient-like circuitry all over her body.

“Beautiful thing, but pales in comparison to my Dragons though,” commented Marin.

“No one’s asking for your comments!” said Clair, “Magical Android, silence him with your Mystical Cyber Blast!”

Magical Android launched her energy blast from her staff towards Marin, but the apparition of Necro Gardna suddenly appeared & took the hit instead.

“Unlike you, I’m always 1 step ahead of you as per my duties,” said Marin, “I knew you would attack me & that’s when my Necro Gardna comes in handy. By removing him from play, I could negate your attack.”

“But you never saw this coming! I play a Quick-Play Spell called De-Synchro to switch my Android back for its components for the Synchro Summon!” said Clair as Magical Android split into both Psychic Snail & Mind Master, (1900/1200, 100/200) “Bet you didn’t see that coming, attack him directly now!”

Both monsters then unleashed their electrical blasts at Marin, but he hardly flinched to the attacks.

“Are you a zombie or what?” wondered Clair, “You didn’t even move with that onslaught. Well, I Tune them again! Ancient magic & distant technology combine as 1 force to lead a path straight to the stars. Soul of silicon, align into existence. Synchro Summon, Magical Android!” (2400/1700)

Both monsters then disappeared for the Magical Android, who graced the field once again.

“I set 3 face-down cards & end my turn,” said Clair, “in which my Android will grant me 600 Life Points for every Psychic monster on the field & she’s the only one here.”

Marin (LP: 2000) Clair (LP: 3300)

“In a single turn, Clair has just turned the situation around,” described MC Ben, “but could she withstand the future?”

“I draw,” said Marin, “at this point, my Ancient Fairy Dragon returns to my side!” (2100/3000)

A vortex opened in the ground & the fairy-like dragon flew out of it & roared majestically.

“By effect of my Tiamut’s Nest, I can draw again,” said Marin as he drew, “now I step up duels to the next level by invoking my Dragon’s effect, Nature’s Reform!”

Ancient Fairy Dragon flapped its butterfly wings & a mighty hurricane blew on the cave. The rocks & stalactites there were falling apart, causing them to return to the Stadium they were all along.

“In case you didn’t know, Nature’s Reform just…” explained Marin.

“I know what it does; I’ve done my research here,” said Clair, “You gain 1000 Life Points & can also take another Field Spell to your hand.”

Marin (LP: 3000) Clair (LP: 3300)

“Correct, as you can see now, I’m always ahead of you,” said Marin, “in fact, you should see what I’ve got to replace my lost card.”

Marin then revealed the card to Clair, showing it to be another copy of Tiamut’s Nest of Fortunes.

“You have more than 1 of those!” exclaimed Clair.

“Of course! It helps out my deck greatly & I’ll show you now,” said Marin as he slid the card into his Field Spell Card Zone & the scene returned to the cave of gold, “now I can draw another card again.”

As Marin drew out his new card, he noticed that it was Fiend Roar Deity Raven.

“I activate another one of my Dragon’s effect & Special Summon a monster from my hand,” said Marin, “so I summon Fiend Roar Deity Raven!” (1300/1000)

A shady-looking man in black clothing with red trimming appeared & he snickered sinisterly.

“Now for his effect, I can discard cards from my hand,” said Marin as he discarded a card, “and you will soon see what it is as I call upon Goldd, Wu-Lord of Dark World!” (2300/1400)

A golden burly fiend with a golden axe appeared & growled.

“Ok, you summoned 2 ugly things to the field…so what’s your plan?” asked Clair.

“Oh, this is my plan! By discarding a card, Raven gains 400 Attack Points & a new Level,” (1300/1000~1700/1000, LV: 2~3) said Marin, “now I Tune Goldd with Raven! Clustering hopes become a grand shining star! Become the star who envelops destruction! Synchro Summon! Soaring Hopes, Stardust Dragon!” (2500/2000)

Raven turned into 3 rings that went through Goldd, leaving 5 orbs as a beam of light shot up. It soon formed into a white & blue dragon with large wings.

“Now he’s got 2 of them on the Field!” exclaimed MC Ben, “are the Dragon Archfiend & Black Rose not far behind in this?”

“Sadly, I could attack you on the turn when I use the effect of Ancient Fairy Dragon,” said Marin, “but I can still activate my face-down Soul Tuning, which removes monsters in the graveyard from play so that I may Synchro Summon a Synchro Monster. Therefore, I remove Goldd & Raven from play! Chilling flames engulf the entire world! Pitch-dark flower, set into bloom! Synchro Summon! Avatar of Ruin, Black Rose Dragon!!!” (2400/1800)

A pink stream of light appeared & the red wyvern-like dragon appeared & roared menacingly.

“I could just use its effect right now, but that won’t be fun at all,” said Marin, “so I choose not to use it as I activate my Return from the Dark Dimension Trap Card to summon back my Goldd to the field.” (2300/1400)

The burly fiend reappeared from a shadowy vortex that appeared in the ground.

“Now I Normal Summon my Chaos-End Master,” (1500/1000) said Marin as a pure white angel with a few golden pieces appeared, “now I Tune them together for the real show to begin! The uncaring heart will now file through here! Take witness to its creation-shattering powers! Synchro Summon! Soul of Aloof, Red Dragon Archfiend!!!” (3000/2000)

Chaos-End Master became into 3 rings that once again passed through Goldd, who dissolved again to 5 orbs & another burst of light appeared. It soon formed into the red demonic dragon. Suddenly, all the dragons roared as it appeared.

“Oh my God! Marin has just assembled 4 of the 5 Dragons! Truly a moment indeed!” exclaimed MC Ben, “Among all my years in this industry, I am astounded by such one-of-a-kind dueling skills! No wait…what’s this?”

The combined presence of the 4 Dragons had caused part of the top of Tiamut’s Nest of Fortunes to collapse. This led way to see the outside, which was brewing a storm with red lightning flashing everywhere.

“Ah, it is coming to their world at last,” said the Ally.

Far away from Oregeorgia, in the Tops Area of Neo Domino City of Japan, an old lady sat alone inside a darkened apartment there. However, she felt a sudden sensation of pain on her right arm.

“Urg…this pain…could it be…” muttered the old lady.

She then rolled up her sleeves to find that her birthmark, the Right Claw of a dragon, was glowing red & seemingly burning through her skin.

“Damn! This pain…there’s only one thing this could mean!” said the old lady as an apparition appeared beside her.

The apparition was a brown fluff ball with a long thin tail that had a ribbon at its end.

“Kuri-kuri,” cooed the apparition.

“I know, Kuribon,” said the lady, “the Crimson Dragon, it has being awakened, but this one’s by force…what on earth happened here?”

She then took out her deck to see a card with the white borders of a typical Synchro Monster. It depicted a turquoise serpentine dragon with 2 butterfly wings.

“Ancient Fairy Dragon, please guide me to this enigma,” prayed the lady as the apparition of the Dragon appeared to be surrounding her form.

“Luna…in another place in your world called Oregeorgia…someone is using the Crimson Dragon,” spoke the Ancient Fairy Dragon, “but he knows not what he is really dealing with…”

“Just like Goodwin back then, could it mean Yliaster’s revival?” wondered Luna.

“No, it is not a work of Yliaster, but of someone else, someone you & the others never faced before…you must go there & aid the One who could set things right & straight…” spoke the Ancient Fairy Dragon, “the spirits of destiny called her…Clair Kinet.”

“Yes, it’s coming!” said the Overmind as he spread his arms widely.

“What’s coming?” asked Yugi.

“Our future, the future of mankind & Psychickind, one that will be guided by this Crimson Dragon!” said the Overmind as he held up his medallion, “my work has all come down to this!”

Venus & Teong rushed out to see the incident live as all TV broadcasts were down & they were shocked to see what was happening.

“I have a bad vibe about this,” said Clair as she noticed the Overmind at the VIP Stand with a similar medallion in his hands.

Once per turn, you can Special Summon 1 Level 4 or lower monster from your hand. If you activated this effect, you cannot enter your Battle Phase this turn. Once per turn, you can destroy 1 Field Spell Card you control to gain 1000 Life Points, then add 1 Field Spell Card from your Deck to your hand.

Marin: Today’s card is the last of my Lord’s latest gifts, the Ancient Fairy Dragon. It is also a member of the 5 Dragons & one wielded by Luna, a duelist who could listen to Duel Spirits. You can Special Summon a monster from your hand, but you must also forgo your battles as the price. Also, you can destroy a Field Spell that you control to gain Life Points & put a new one for further usage.

Clair: This is bad, me dealing with 4 of the 5 Dragons! Not even Yusei or Noland could be that unlucky! Guess I better summon my dragon to the fray now!

Overmind: The conditions are now set for the Crimson Dragon to realise even without the Signers! Now, let us take a glimpse of the future itself…
