Zexaeon
I'm curious - what are you guys' opinions on Trap Monsters? Apophis, Zoma, Metal Reflect Slime, Stronghold, Cyber Shadow Gardna, those guys. I for one like them. I mean, really, what's not to like? You get a free monster, easy tribute fodder (except for Shadow Gardna), and can surprise your opponent with monster presence. MRS is kinda cheap, as it just puts a big ol' hunk of wall on the field for no cost, but that's why I love him. Zoma's cool too - a decent beatstick, easy tribute, and something your opponent may think twice about attacking. Not to mention that if you're using a deck with Calculator in it (lulz) MRS can be an instant "f*** you" to your opponent once you get calc out there. Anyway, discuss. HORUS
I like them, but the problem is of course that they aren't fast enough. But making a surprise attack for enough damage would be useful. A lot of times I find my opponent with less than 1000 after a big attack and I wish I could just have a set Embodiment of Apophis. It would be fun to use them in Monarchs. Zexaeon
Dude, I'm actually surprised I don't see them in more Monarch decks. I mean, at LEAST Zoma. Your opponent can either attack it and take damage, or leave it alone and let you tribute it for Monarch ownage. These guys are staples in an Uria deck. Flame Dragon
I like Metal Reflect Slime. It gives a nice wall that can last a turn or two and those few turns are helpful. But like HORUS said they are slow, plus they are very easy to destroy.

Zexaeon
xD Yes, laugh at it. All I said was that they're staples, not that Uria was competitive. =3 I enjoy it as a lulz deck, but hell no am I bringing that to a tourney. xD I know someone who did though. Got their ass handed to them by Jinzo on like, second turn.

Guest Supreme Gamesmaster
One word: Makyura. They own in Trad; they're like a free summon with Makyura. They're too slow in Adv. You can scare your opponent with them, though, since a facedown trap could be Torrential or Mirror Force.
armageddon08
Why not use Stronghold in a Monarch deck? First, it can stop an opponents attack if it's attack is 2000 or less. Second, you can use it for tribute fodder. Where's the problem it that?

They're both far superior defenders - Slime because it has 3000, and Zoma because your opponent doesn't want to attack the damn thing.

Fh-Fh
Odion odiowns. I loved seeing him bust out Apophis for the first time. I was like: Joey, your screwed. Then he busted out Jinzo. I remember making a trap moster deck. Fell apart.
armageddon08
I think we're actually talking about real ways to use the cards, not about the anime( no offense intended ).

Zexaeon
yes' date=' i've established why they suck, didn't you get the memo?? [/quote'] Aha, so then Trap cards are obsolete cards that no one should ever consider being put into someone's deck? Too slow for this format. Not bad in a good format. Yes. Makyura makes them broken' date=' which is good for Traditional play. But in our current advanced format, they aren't competitive enough. Even if you were to run any, Reflect Slime would be the only one worth it for the defensive purposes, and it still wouldn't be the best idea. These cards will become extremely playable when Cathedral Of Nobles hits the TCG. Though, if Makyura is banned, I doubt Cathedral will stick around for long.
