Section I: The Battle

••

 

The crust-less, magma-filled, Chthonian world of Mirage was the homeworld of the lost Precursors. Originally, it had been the tenth planet from its sun, a pulsing blue mainstream star called Opukoif. The Precursors advanced at an amazing pace, developing space travel in a mere six and a half hundred millenia. The elites of the species, known as Dread Lords, spearheaded this advancement, perpetually daring and uncannily intelligent in their bold predictions.

 

However, soon afterwards, Opukoif exploded prematurely. The supernova destroyed the closest nine planets, but Opukoif X was so far away that it was pushed into the orbit of another star. This star had existed since the beginning of the universe as a white dwarf, and had been named Telenanth after the crystalline, life-enabling device that was allegedly contained inside. Miraculously, the Precursors survived, and soon began to build an interstellar empire.

 

Millions of years later, however, the previously fortituous Precursors unexpectedly died out, sealed behind an impenetrable magic wall. About twenty survived, and dedicated themselves to honing their psionic powers.

 

Fast forward five billion years, to 2232. The chaotic dimension that was Opukoif X, now called Mirage, is being ravaged as magical Altarians and psionic Dread Lords battle for supremacy, as neither force can exist alongside the other. Meanwhile, a cult of Altarians calling themselves the Jedi are training as peacekeepers, learning to wield the light side of magic as a constructive force rather than as a weapon. Unfortunately, they will not be left untouched by the war. Visiting Terrestrials have no idea how to intervene; both species are technologically advanced as well as "superpowered." The mysterious race known as the "Dark Ones" plot to fuel the war for their own benefit. And future-seeing Pavers can tell that great things will come from the war — if Mirage isn't destroyed first.

Section II: Who Are You?

••

 

There are six basic factions on Mirage, though each one is riddled with rebellion and intellectual conflict.

 

The Altarians, Jedi, and Pavers fight with magic. Magical powers are separate, and are harnessed by a skin-fitting crystal bracelet that's impossible to remove. Only so many magical powers (manifest as crystals) can be carried at a time; the amount of magic limits the bracelet's capacity rather than the size of the crystals.

When signing up as an Altarian, Jedi, or Paver, brainstorm a list of abilities (it can be ANY ABILITY) and post them here. I'll assign power values to them and return them to you. You can then select powers whose total power equal 99 or less and use them on the mission. Remember that the powers you come up with are the only ones that you can choose over the course of the whole RP; however, when your crystals are accessible, you can change magic powers whenever you'd like.

The Dread Lords fight with psionics. These powers are created on-the-spot, and are all really the same. They're generated by the fighter's willpower, and must manifest themselves in an orb before acting; they're therefore slower than magical powers. Psionic powers are boundless, but you have to be extremely careful not to make your power exceed that of a magic-user, or you'll kill yourself through over-exertion.

The Terrestrials and Dark Ones fight with weapons. These are created much the same way as magic powers, but you have to carry each one. These are generally weakest and slowest, but restrictions for weapon powers are less strict than those for magic or psionic powers.

If I don't know you as an RPer, I may ask for a Biographical Sample. This can be one of two things: a sample of a battle sequence between your character and some other being, or a biographical passage about your character. If you join as a Dread Lord, I will almost certainly ask this of you since there's such a huge opportunity for abuse of powers, so don't join as a Dread Lord just so you don't have to fill out as much of a form.

Subpar entries will be denied.

If you godmod at any time during the RP, your character will be killed and you will be banned from the RP. You have been warned.

Personality: Lord Dread is charismatic despite his introversion, and is the unofficial leader of all the Dread Lords. His blinding intelligence and preference of strategy and deception over brute force have made him a favorite among the ranks of the Dread Lords, while his calm and cunning during battles make him feared by all his enemies. He is unique among the Dread Lords in his power to turn his claws into tentacles that can pierce almost any substance. He's been known to use this ability frivolously to drive off others when he wants time alone, which is almost always.

He is arrogant yet contemplative, and has great ambitions about being the greatest Dread Lord ever, despite his inexperience. He also puts his team mates lives before his own and he is in a way- a little childish. He usually always runs into situations without thinking and he tries to let nothing stop him in the way of becoming the greatest Dread Lord.

Personality: Zaszcaria (or Zasz) has always been a compasionate person. When he was a child he found that he cared too much, but this is what brought him into becoming a jedi, a peace keeper so to speak. His compassion caused him to select most abilities that heal or help people. He is usually happy around most people but can support a deep hatred for people who have wronged him. He finds it difficult to get anrgy but can very dangerous if he does get angry, lashing out at whomever is around him. He prfers not to fight, but to make light conversation with whom he is fighting. He would risk his life to heal or defend anyone close to him.

Miracle Save - Large wounds and deadlier infections are healed, it uses a moderate amount of energy. 1

Light Blast - A small discharge of light energy is launched at the foe from the hand 1

Miracle Cannon - A large blast of light energy is launched at the target from the middle and index fingers. 2

Twilight Night - Fires a tremendously large burst of energy at the foe from the hand, causing extreme damage. It cannot be used four times in a row. 3

Light Force - A barrier of light is erected around the user or a selected target, drawing from the users energy. Weak magic attacks are reflected from the barrier but psionics and weapons can penetrate or break the barrier. 0

Trust Force - A strong barrier of almost blinding light is erected around the user or a selected target, protecting it from all magic attacks, psionics and weapons can penetrate or break the barrier. 1

All he remembers is his name, and the angency he worked for before the war. He gains memory of things every month. How he lost his memory, is hidden from him... He belives his parents are dead, and can be unpredictable at times. However, he may not know his past, he always has a stratagy ready. One day, he hopes to become the ultimate warrior of the world. He has slain many with his sword, thus some have even giving him the title of 'The Almighty Warrior'.

Personality: Andal is a enegetic young man, he made friends easily and wasn't really bullied or picked on. As he got older his opinions of his life started to change, he started to hate what went on around him. His new attitude caused some people to hate him while the ones who hated him before befriended him. With hatred guiding his combat training he slowly started to pick up a ancient Altarian fighting style. Soon some feared him for what he could do with a Lightsaber and how he acted towards most Altarians. He soon became a emotionless husk, for when he returned home one fateful day he saw his parents being killed by a Dread Lord. Now his goal in life is to track down the Dread Lord and make him pay for what he did.

[b]Personality:[/b] Phoenix is the quiet "listen in type". He like to know what is happening but does not want to get involved and his spell "whisper flare" comes in very useful. Due to his rationality, he always waits to understand what's happening before he joins an argument/feud/fight. Many a time, Phoenix has lost control of his emotions and ventured into his Perfect Form, many people die when this occurs (hence the cause for his parents death is revealed). He constantly blames himself for their death however understands the past has been written with the ink of time which can never be erased or rewritten by even the most powerful spell or incantation in the world. Phoenix is always hopeful in the most down times and believes that together his crest (Flame Dragon) and him can change the world for the better.
