Similarities between the two mechanics:

*Both prevent monsters from being removed from the field by effects until the VIT/LP hits 0

*Both prevent battle damage to the controller's Life Points

*If it is affected by a card effect that says "send to the Graveyard", it is treated as if the VIT or LP of the affected monsters drops to 0

*Both are indicated in the lower left of the text box before the ATK and DEF

*Tokens may not have VIT or LP, Spells or Traps may not have VIT or LP

*VIT/LP cannot exceed the written values

VIT exclusive:

*VIT is limited to a number between 1-99

*VIT decreases by 1 only if the monster would have been destroyed as a result of battle

*VIT does not prevent effect damage, nor can you redirect battle damage to it

LP exclusive:

*Monsters w/LP can prevent LP reduction. If so, reduce the monster's LP by that much

*LP is usually a number 100 or above

*LP reduction is reduced by DEF

*You can redirect any LP deduction you would've taken to a monster w/LP

*If a monster w/LP is in Attack Position and is attacked by a monster with weaker ATK, the weak one still deals damage equal to (its ATK - the attack target's DEF).
