JBGamer
I found this site today, and I happily made some cards based on some video game characters. Then, I stumbled upon the Contest thread section, and checked out a few entries. I was amazed; people there submit truly artistic creations. But I am wondering... I think I saw some of the rules for some of the contests specify that the cards need to "not be overpowered" or something like that. However, even in the actual trading card game there are such things as overpowered cards! So what constitutes a "fair card" or in other words, a good card that can hold up to other people's judgment? I think I have a prime example of an unfair card that I made here... but then again, it's a ritual card that requires very specific cards to play. Which brings me to my next question, what constitutes a "bad card" that people wouldn't like, and don't even deserve to be entered into contests? It all seems to be an ocean of grey area. If I'm going to start attempting to make my own creations, I'll need to know these things, which brings me into my final question: Is it more important for a card to look good, or can a really neat effect and stats make up for some amount of deficiency in appearance? In conclusion, I do hope I don't sound like a complete idiot on my very first post on this site. Thanks in advance for those of you who clear up my confusion! Kale
erm... it all depends on the person. ^_^ i am quite easy on card ideas myself, but i dont like cards that are obviously overpowered.... and overpoweredness is just something you can figure out as you go along. if you have a good effect, make it hindered by something, make it balanced. thats the way to go. sometimes people dont like your cards, but thats okay, you just got to pick yourself up, dust yourself off, and try again. as for contests, just make a card that fits the contest guidelines and you should do fine. ^_^ hope i helped your confusion, -Kale
JBGamer
Yeah... I think so. But I obviously can't just rip imagery off the net and expect to even enter it. I better go find a good digital art program!

Tefached
well your card above could loose a contest easily horrible ocg, pic, and its extremely overpowered could be considered a god at that power.
JBGamer
Well yeah... I was using it as an example of a bad card after all.
Tefached
ah didnt see that part well people have different standards for a good card i look at ocg as the most importantthen overpoweredness[no monster should have more atk then bewd without a atk reducing effect of itself]and the picture in contest is very important but not everyone sees it as important...
