TotalObelisk
Without further ado, the next part I present to you... Episode 12: [spoiler=episode]Jamin woke up the next day feeling a little exhausted from the previous nights events, Kim however had remained completely oblivious to it and had been asleep the whole time, Josh and Jamin had agreed that she didn’t need to have any knowledge of the event whatsoever. They had tidied up the tents, and the mess Kim has caused the day before, and set off in the direction of the pyramids, Josh claiming that his grandmother would be there.“So, what’s your grandma like?” Kim asked.“A little too enthusiastic for her own good,” Josh shrugged “I often thought she was a bit mad actually, she seemed to be obsessing over really old things.”“She’s just got a natural curiosity,” Kim reassured him.“You obviously haven’t seen her obsessing,” Josh sighed.Jamin looked up as the pyramids grew closer, he couldn’t shake the feeling that the sight of them was familiar to him, and it was as though he knew them from long ago. He shook himself, such a thing was impossible, this was the first time he’d ever come to Egypt.“Say, do you think one of these items might be in the pyramids?” He asked.“Who knows,” Josh replied “but it’s worth a look, but it’ll be hard to get in to look.”“Well, we could always sneak in,” Kim said winking.Josh looked down at her with a blank expression on his face.“I wish I knew how your brain worked,” he sighed. Once the base of the pyramids was in sight, they noticed a large collection of tents set up around scaffolding and barriers as well as large wooden structures. Josh calmly walked up to the mass of tents. As soon as they were close one of the tent flaps opened and a short old lady popped out, her eyes appeared to be closed and there was a pair of small glasses perched on her nose that didn’t look in any way able to make her see any better. Her hair was white but with a violet tinge and was done up in a large bun at the back.“Ah, there you are Joshinyu,” she said, straightening her glasses “I was beginning to think you’d never show.”Josh shrugged. “Does it matter?” He said “how’s the work?”“One thing,” Josh’s grandma said. She raised her hand and slapped Josh on the cheek hard.“Ow!” He complained “what was that for?”“For being careless,” his gran pointed a finger “you never listened to your grandfather and look what happened to him.”“Oh come on,” Josh retorted, rubbing his cheek “you never believed it first off either did you?”“Don’t assume that,” his gran replied.Jamin and Kim followed Josh into the camp, looking around.“So this is what old people do for a living is it,” Jamin muttered “pout around for stuff even older than them.”This remark earned Jamin his very own slap too. Josh’s gran led them through the camp to the main area where they were digging.“Me and your grandfather have been trying to recover the item’s copies for years,” she explained “they are no where near as powerful as the original items, but in the wrong hands they can still unleash a power that will be great enough to destroy the world, and since they’re connected to the millennium items, we can use them to predict whenever any new occurrences are about to arise.”“And to think I never believed this,” Josh sighed.“I can hear you,” Josh’s grandma said “I’m not deaf yet you know.”“Josh has some really crazy grandparents,” Jamin muttered to Kim.Another slap found its way onto Jamin’s face.“Don’t say I didn’t warn you,” Josh’s gran said.“But you didn’t warn me!” Jamin complained.“So what are you trying to find here?” Josh asked.“Aha,” Josh’s gran tapped her nose “this is rumored to be where the Millennium Ring’s copy is hidden.”“Millennium Ring?” Jamin asked.“During the time of the Shadow Games, the Millennium Ring was the opposite of the Millennium Puzzle,” Josh’s gran explained “whereas the puzzle contained the spirit of the Pharaoh, the Ring contained the spirit of the Dark Sorcerer who fought him all those years ago.” “So in other words the rings the one with the evil spirit?” Jamin said.“Correct,”“And you’re digging it up, why?” Jamin finished.“Idiot! There’s no spirit in this one,” Josh’s gran replied.“That doesn’t help,” Jamin sighed.“The Millennium Ring was like a compos,” Josh’s gran explained “it had the power to find objects or other millennium items, since this one is connected to the real one, it may be useful in tracking down the remaining items.”“Handy,” Jamin muttered.Josh sighed. “Come on,” he said “let’s take a look around, later gran.”“Less of the gran,” Josh’s gran said “I’m not that old just yet!”“How old is she?” Jamin asked.“68,” Josh replied.“65!” Came a loud cry. They wandered about through the tents, looking at the different artifacts that the team had dug up. Kim looked up and saw a tent that looked different from the rest, it was circular and looked to be made of purple silk.“What on earth?”“One of gran’s crazy friends,” Josh explained “fortune teller, she had a bit of a cult when she was younger.”They walked into the tent; the middle of it was dominated by a large round table while an old woman sat at the other end.“Hello, Joshinyu,” she said as they entered.“Don’t try and creep me out like that,” Josh sighed.“Oh yes,” the woman said “you don’t believe, do you?”“I’ve been having doubts,” he replied.“I see,” the woman turned to Jamin and Kim “my name is Ali, I am a fortune teller.”“We guessed,” Jamin said. “Well, let me show you an example,” Ali said “show me your deck.”Jamin blinked, then took his deck out and handed it over to her. She took it, then laid it down on the table and began mixing the cards about with her left hand.“A duelist deck reflects their soul,” she explained “and their past lives, it also allows us to interpret future events as a well as past and present.”“No kidding,” Jamin said blankly.“Once your deck is assembled it bonds itself to your soul,” she continued “allowing you to become one with your most trusted monsters.”“Are you getting any of this?” Kim muttered.“Not a word of it,” Jamin whispered back.Ali stopped mixing and used her left hand to merge the cards back into a deck, she then placed one on the table to her right, one in the middle above it, one below and another below that and finally placed one to her left.“This is the freaky bit,” Josh muttered.Ali flipped over the first card, it was the Creator Incarnate.“Ah, so you were once within a form that possessed great potential,” she said “meaning that you’re past self held a great power within his soul.”“Past self?” Jamin repeated.“The form your soul was in before this one,” Ali replied.“Doesn’t help,” Jamin sighed.Ali ignored him and flipped over the middle card.“Hm, the staunch defender card,” she muttered “so recently you’ve been chosen as a defense against a dark force.”“Oh great,” Jamin sighed.“Patience,” Ali said “this is your fate….” She flipped over the final card, it was A Rival Appears and it was upside down.“What’s that mean?” Jamin asked.“Exactly what it says,” Ali replied “a rival, will appear.”“Oh, terrific,” Jamin sighed “as if things weren’t bad enough already.”He took his deck back and put it away.“Well, guess we’d better see what’s in store for me,” Josh said “maybe it’ll show which of us is the chosen one this time.”“I thought it was me,” Jamin complained.“There are doubts….” Josh explained.Ali took Josh’s deck and began the same process as with Jamin’s cards.“Hm, there is a great power locked within these,” she muttered “a great, and dark power.”“What’s that?” Josh asked.“Nothing,” Ali said. She laid out Josh’s cards in the same formation as Jamin’s.“Is there a point to this?” Jamin asked.“The one on the right represents the past,” Josh explained “the middle is present and the last on is future.”“And the other two?” Jamin asked.Josh shrugged. Ali flipped over the first card, revealing Apprentice Magician.“Well that speaks for itself,” Josh muttered.“Yes, it does,” Ali muttered. She flipped over the next one, revealing a rapid fire magician. “Ah, that signifies you have grown in power quite rapidly,” she explained.“No need to be a fortune teller to see that,” Josh muttered.Ali sighed and flipped over the last card, her eyes widened.“What’s up?” Jamin looked down and saw the Dark Paladin, upside down “is that bad?” He asked.“It signifies corruption,” Ali said “a powerful corruption, and one not easily broken.”“Does this stuff ever make sense?” Jamin sighed.“You don’t get a word of it do you?” Josh sighed. Jamin shrugged. Ali shook her head, tutting.“This is bad,” she muttered.“Could be a mistake?” Josh suggested “I know I’m a little cold but I’d never go that far.”“Cards never lie,” Ali said, looking up “keep this in mind; I can sense that the time is not far off.”“When it comes, give us a holler,” Josh said, taking his deck back “then I’ll know to keep my head down.”“Don’t try to avoid it,” Ali warned “attempts to avoid a future will only enforce its chances of happening.”“Well, thanks for the warning,” Josh said “Kim, you want a go?”“No thanks,” Kim said “I think I’ll pass, I don’t like to know what my future is.”“Fair enough,” Josh sighed “well, see ya.”They left with Ali still tutting to herself in an irritating fashion.“Are her predictions true?” Jamin asked.Josh shrugged. “I’ve never tried to find out,” he said “usually I’d think it’s a load of rubbish like always, but recently…” He sighed.“Too many of your grandpa’s ‘garbage’ being proved right?” Jamin suggested.“Probably,” Josh said “it seemed so stupid though.”“Hey, lighten up!” Kim said “when’s the next time we’re going to be here? We may as well have fun!”She ran off, exploring the various tents.“She does know we have a job to do right?” Jamin said, scratching the back of his head.“Hey, she’s not suspected as the chosen one, you and me are,” Josh said “so we may as well do it while she prattles about.”“If she prattles about too much she’s going to be victimized again,” Jamin sighed.A sudden commotion sounded from where the main digging was taking place, a large crash sounded following by the sound of collapsing and sand being blown everywhere.“What’s that?” Jamin ran over to the scene.“Hey! Don’t charge in blind!” Josh called after him “idiot.”He followed Jamin into the accident and braked as soon as he saw what happened; the area where they had been digging had collapsed, the pyramid seemed to have crumbled along with most of the ground around it, causing a gaping hole leading into pitch blackness.“What’s that?” Jamin gasped, staring down into the hole.“It must have collapsed,” Josh’s gran panted “it was so sudden.”“Yeah, but it’s not an accident,” Josh muttered.“How can you tell?” Jamin asked. Josh pointed to a set of worn stairs near the edge of the hole, leading down into the blackness.“That might give you a clue,” he said “somebody planned on this.”Kim walked over, looking at the devastation.“What happened?” She asked.“The place just collapsed,” Josh’s gran said “we’d better be careful, some men fell in there and they haven’t climbed back out.”“Let’s go,” Josh said to Jamin.Jamin nodded and followed Josh down the stairs.“Oi! Careful you fools!” Josh’s gran yelled after them “those stairs might not be stable, and who knows what’s down there!”They both ignored her and descended without hesitating.Josh’s gran heaved a sigh “young people,” she muttered.Kim looked down the hole, and then noticed that her necklace was glowing.“Oh my,” she looked down at it, then followed Josh and Jamin down the hole.“Wha..!? Hey, don’t be so reckless!” Josh’s gran yelled after her.“I know what I’m doing,” Kim called back before she vanished.Josh’s gran stood in the middle of the wreckage of their digging equipment looking extremely dejected.“Ma’am, what should we do?” One of the worker’s asked.“Don’t just stand there!” She suddenly perked up “fetch some tools, repair this junk, and for the love of Isis get somebody with a light and a sense of safety down that hole before those three get themselves into a situation they’ll regret!”“Yes ma’am!” The worked ran off. The cavern was pitch black, and neither Jamin or Josh could see their hands in front of their faces.“Could of thought to bring a light,” Jamin muttered.“Now that you mention it, that might not have been such a bad idea,” Josh muttered.“How far down do you think this thing goes?” Jamin asked.“Who knows,” Josh shrugged “couple of hundred feet at the most.”“Suppose it goes right to the center of the Earth?” Jamin said.“Now that’s silly,” Josh replied.Jamin felt his foot contact with level ground and heard Josh stop.“Now what?” Jamin said “we’ve no idea what’s in here.”“Hm,”Jamin heard the sound of Josh moving forwards, and a hand running against a stone wall.“There’s a wall here,” he muttered “and an entrance too.”“Any idea where the entrance leads?” Jamin said, tapping his foot.“Nope,” Josh said.“It might help if we had a light,” Jamin sighed.“Like this?”A sudden light illuminated the scene in front of them; Jamin turned round and saw Kim with her hand on a glowing crystal set into a snake head which was calved into a pillar marking the bottom of the stairs.“Yeah, that might work,” Jamin said.He looked about as more crystals lit up, some set high in the ceiling above them, a good 50 feet above their heads. Once it was fully lit up, they were able to see clearly the room that they were in, a series of smaller walls, still taller than themselves, stretched in front of them, crisscrossing as random spots and sometimes coming to a complete halt.“A labyrinth,” Josh muttered.“No kidding,” Jamin muttered “so what now?”“Enter the labyrinth,” Josh replied.“You’re just full of idea aren’t you?” Jamin sighed. “I didn’t even know the Egyptians had labyrinths,” Kim muttered, following the two in.Almost immediately the path forked off it two places, one leading ahead and the other leading to the left.“Which way?” Jamin muttered, looking down them. The left path forked off as well, the new fork running parallel to the path ahead of them.“Guess we have to split up,” Josh suggested.“Suppose we can’t find our way out?” Jamin said.“Oh that’s easy,” Josh said.He placed his hand against the wall and began walking along the left hand path.“Keep your hand on the wall and follow it round,” he said “eventually you’ll find the exit.”“I see,” Jamin muttered “heh, clever.”He turned to take the straight path, looking down it, it seemed perfectly straight for as far as the room reached.“This looked too easy,” he muttered, walking along it.Kim watched him go before following Josh down the left hand path and turning off at the fork.“Hey,” she said, Josh stopped and looked about “good luck,” Kim said.Josh nodded, and then carried on.Kim hesitated for a bit before following the new path, it turned off to the right almost immediately and took her back in the direction of the original path before turning off again and doubling back on itself.“This is really confusing,” she muttered “am I going backwards or forwards.” Josh turned a corner leading back to the entrance and found himself facing a new fork, one path leading off to the right, the path ahead went on and then veered off to the right as well. Josh rested his chin on his hand, thinking.“If one way’s a dead end I could always double back and take the other path,” he muttered “and if I take the one that’s not a dead end it’ll just save me time, now which one to choose?”He looked down the path leading off, seeing it double back and go back the way he’d come.“That might just take me back to where I was,” he muttered “guess I go straight then.”He looked ahead and followed the path, turning the corner and continuing down the path, all the time keeping track on the way he’d come.“One left, straight on, left again, straight on, right,” he muttered “how long has this thing been here?”He stopped when he heard a faint rumbling noise from behind him, he stopped and looked about.“Who’s there?” He called out, but no answer “hm.”He turned round again and carried on the way he was going, still repeating the directions over in his head. Jamin had been going down one long path and still hadn’t come to the other end of the maze; he stopped and saw ahead of him that a large number of pathways split off at random points.“Damnit,” he grimaced “how am I going to tell which one to take?”He thought about it for a second, and then remembered what Josh had said.“I see,” he muttered “if I follow the path then I’ll be able to find my way back again, even from a dead end.”He took the nearest passage on the right, feeling confident. As soon as his foot pressed down however he felt it sink along with part of the floor.“What the?”The wall beside him suddenly disappeared into the ground and another sprang up behind and beside him, about him more walls were appearing and disappearing, reshaping the labyrinth.“Oops,” Jamin muttered. Josh stopped suddenly as a wall sprang up in front of him and behind him, blocking his way forwards.“What’s going one?” He gritted his teeth. He looked about and saw the wall next to him lower, he threw himself over it just before a new wall slid in its place, blocking his way back, the transformation continued for several minutes, Kim having taken to standing their hugging herself in fear, before it suddenly ceased completely. Josh looked up and saw a dead end behind him, meaning his only way to go was forwards.“I see,” he muttered “so it’s games you want, then its games you’ll get.” He strode forwards, keeping a close eye on what he stepped on. Kim opened her eyes after a few minutes of cowering to herself, and saw the she was in the middle of a three way fork, one leading behind her, another ahead and the third to the left. She looked down each one of them, but none looked promising.“Oh man!” She yelled “which way do I go?”She touched her millennium necklace and it glowed slightly, also causing her hair to flutter in an unseen breeze. She turned about in an almost hypnotic state and followed the path behind her. Jamin looked about him, noticed that he was right in the center of a four way split leading out in all directions around him.“Well, that was stupid;” he muttered, scratching his head “hang on, maybe…”He hit the ground with his foot again, but nothing happened, he tried again but the floor remained solid.“Wha..?! Is there a trigger here or not?!” He yelled at the floor “how the hell did the Egyptians get this technology anyway?!”He looked about and saw Hand of Nephthys floating by his side.“Oh, it’s you?” He said “got any bright ideas?”“I’m afraid not,” she replied.“Bummer,” Jamin punched his palm.“However, there is a strong possibility that you may be able to reverse the change,” she said.“How?” Jamin asked.“Simple,” Hand of Nephthys replied “you remember the Shadow game once placed in ancient Egypt? In that game there was a magic ability that could change the form of a labyrinth just like this one.”“Yeah, but it’s just a card game now,” Jamin said.“Focus,” Hand of Nephthys said “the magic is still locked within the cards, you have enough magical potential to unlock it.”“Huh? I thought you needed something like a millennium item to do that?” Jamin said.Hand of Nephthys gave a soft smile.“Not for those who possess magical powers,” she said “you were once a great Egyptian sorcerer, therefore you possess the energy.”“Are you telling me to hold up a card and yell ‘I summon the power’?” Jamin said.“If you think that’s necessary,” Hand of Nephthys replied.“I see,” Jamin muttered “I just need something that can blast through these walls don’t I. But what if it just comes up as a hologram, like always?”“Look at those crystals,” Hand of Nephthys said “I can sense a great amount of energy coming from them, they may act as an amplifier and there allow you to bypass the rules of this word and stretch into the rules of the next one.” “Okay,” Jamin muttered, pulling his duel disk from out of his bag “I think I get it.”He slipped his disk on and activated it, inserted his deck and pulled a card from it.“Well, here goes nothing,” he muttered “I summoned Hiita the Fire Charmer!”He placed the card on the duel disk, almost instantly it lit up and the shape of a girl emerged from it, floated gracefully through the air and then landed softly, forming into the solid form of Hiita. As soon as she emerged completely she blinked and looked around.“Huh? Hey where the hell am I?” She muttered.Jamin couldn’t do much but stare down at her, just as confused as she was.“Well that was different,” he muttered.“Huh?” Hiita turned round and upon seeing Jamin did a double take “wha..!?! What happened to you? You look all pale and stuff,” she said “and where the heck have you been the last 3000 years anyway? It’s no picnic getting sealing in another dimension you know!”“Um, pardon?” Jamin said.“What, you forgot?” Hiita replied “oh come on, hey wait, how’d you live past 3000 and still look like a kid anyway?”“She’s referring to your past self,” Hand of Nephthys explained “your ancient Egyptian self to be exact, back when you knew Hiita personally.”“That sounds awfully clichéish to me,” Jamin sighed “hasn’t that been done before?” “It can happen again,” Hand of Nephthys replied.“So, er, Jamin, what’re we doing here?” Hiita asked.“We’re sort of stuck in this labyrinth,” Jamin explained.“And what? You want me to blast a wall down?” Hiita replied “do I look like the fire type to you?”“Hey, calm down,” Jamin said “I’ve got a plan.”He drew another card from his deck and smiled.“Hey, what the hell’s that?” Hiita asked, pointing to the duel disk.“Long story,” Jamin said “for now I’ll summon Element Valkyrie!”“Huh?”The same effect happened, and this time Element Valkyrie emerged from the card and landed lightly next to Hiita.“I’m not getting any of this,” Hiita sighed.“It’s simple,” Jamin said “Valkyrie over there gets stronger when there’s a fire monster around, meaning she can blast through these walls.”“Oh, I see,” Hiita said “so she blasts through and we’re out of here.”“Yeah, but we gotta find Josh and Kim first,” Jamin said.“Who?” Hiita asked.Element Valkyrie raised her staff and fired a beam of blue energy at the nearby wall, freezing it, then flipped her staff round and shot a fireball out of it, smashing the wall.“There we go,” Jamin said “now we don’t have to worry about dead ends.”He ran through the gap, closely followed by his two monsters.“First explain what the hell’s going on!” Hiita yelled. Josh meanwhile was still following the same route, keeping his hand against the wall in case he needed to double back, he stopped for a second, looking round as he heard the rumbling noise again.“What in the name of…?”He turned around fully, looking in the direction of the noise. The wall at the far end of the path smashed, giving way to a large blue tank covered with several red drills all spinning terribly fast.“What!?” Josh’s face showed both shock and surprise. He threw himself out of the way as the tank passed, managing to dodge into an adjoining path since the behemoth filled the whole passage.“Labyrinth tank?” He muttered “How’d that get here?”He got to his feet and charged after it, not even doubting what he was about to do. He charged up to it and leapt onto its back, clinging on with all his might.“Well, if my instincts are right,” he muttered “and if this is here.”He pulled a card from the box slotted onto his belt where his deck was kept.“Then this, should work.” He muttered. He held the card up into the air.“I play, De-fusion!” He declared. The card glowed, and so did the tank. Josh leapt off it as the machine was split in two, reforming into a Giga Tech Wolf and a Cannon soldier.“Now, that’s better,” Josh smirked. In the meantime, Jamin had succeeded in smashing down his own custom path, leading to who knows where.“Do you even know where you’re going?” Hiita asked, just keeping up behind him.“Once we get to the edge of the labyrinth we’ll be able to find a way to get past it,” Jamin said.“Even consider the fact it might go wall to wall,” Hiita sighed.“Well, at least this way we’ll clear an easy path in case we get lost,” Jamin replied.“When were you this difficult?”Jamin ignored her and carried on following Element Valkyrie’s path of destruction, however he can to an abrupt halt when he heard a loud explosion from nearby, followed by a dust cloud flying into the air.“What that?” He muttered “Valkyrie!”“Haii,” his monster replied and blasted down the wall next to them, leaving a clear path to the scene.Once it was clear Jamin rushed forwards just in time to see Josh take down Cannon soldier with Breaker the Magical Warrior. Element Vakyrie transform into a small orb of light and went back into her card.“Josh?” Jamin gasped “what the heck?”“Long story,” Josh replied, turning round as Breaker vanished back into a card “guess you figured it out too huh?”He looked down at Hiita who was giving him a dark look.“I didn’t know you’d brought your girlfriend along,” he said. Hiita suddenly blushed unrepentantly before shaking her fist at Josh.“Hey! Watch who you’re calling ‘girlfriend’ mister!” She snapped.“Hey easy,” Josh said, raising his hands “guess she’s a hot head.”Hiita snarled at him, a flame starting around her.“Whoa, calm down,” Jamin said “we need to find Kim and get out of here.”They both look up again, listening for any clues as to where Kim might be.“Fancy blowing down the walls again?” Jamin asked.“Hell yeah?” Josh said.Josh pulled a card out from his deck, placing it on his duel disk. Jamin followed suit.“I summon Chaos command Magician,” Josh declared as his emerald sorcerer rose from his card.“And I call Horus the Black Flame Dragon,” Jamin said as his silver Dragon did the same.“Now blast that wall down!” They both ordered in unison.Hiita watched them as they blew the labyrinth apart.“I’ve got a bad feeling about this,” she muttered. OMG! No card games O_O
TotalObelisk
Episode 13: Unlucky for some, especially Jamin.... [spoiler=episode]Kim looked about her, the maze seemed so much large than before, and she was hearing the sounds of crashes and explosions getting closer.“Man what’s going on,” she muttered. She looked down as her necklace began to stop glowing.“Hyahh!!? Don’t fade out on me now!” She yelled at it “we’ve got bigger problems!”She sighed and leaned against the wall.“Great, I’m talking to a piece of jewelry, can this get any worse?”She looked up and saw something out of the corner of her eye move along one of the walls; she blinked and followed the direction it had moved it, looking down a fork leading to the right.“Hm,” she muttered “I wonder what that was?”She turned back around and saw the same shadow pass in front of her, seemingly inside the wall.“Wha..?!” She stumbled back in surprise before chasing after it “maybe it knows the way out of here?” She thought. The shadow turned a corner, moving pretty fast for something with no body.“Just what’s going on?” Kim muttered. She turned the corner and immediately wished she hadn’t, a long green, slimy creature was staring back at her, growing out the wall.“S-s-shadow ghoul?” She gasped “but, this isn’t the game?”The ghoul moved towards her, rearing to attack, Kim covered her head with her arms in a vain attempt to protect herself. The Ghoul began its attack but was interrupted as a blast of red energy struck it straight in the back and threw it to the ground, tearing it out of the wall. The smoke caused by the impact cleared and revealed Josh standing next to a Blast Magician and Jamin standing behind him with Hiita at his side.“Lucky I got it by surprise,” Josh muttered “otherwise it would have taken out my magician in a single attack.”“Well use another one,” Jamin replied.Kim looked up and saw Josh and Jamin with their monsters out.“Huh? What’s going on here?” She asked.“Long story,” Josh said drawing a card “and I don’t really know how to explain it.”The Shadow Ghoul charged at them, raising its claws to attack.“Magic card, magical dimension!” Josh revealed the card he just drew “I sacrifice my Blast Magician, to summon Dark Magician!”Josh’s Blast magician vanished in a sudden pillar of light which dispersed almost as soon as it appeared, revealing Josh’s dark magician.“Dark magic attack!” Josh ordered, pointing at Shadow Ghoul. The Dark Magician raised his staff and then brought it down, firing a jet of green light straight into Shadow Ghoul’s chest, destroying him.“Now that’s how you duel,” Josh smirked.“Nice one,” Jamin said.“Show off,” Hiita muttered.Kim looked down at Hiita and then up at Dark Magician.“How are they….?” She pointed at the two monsters in turn.“Dunno,” Jamin shrugged “although it might be the crystals, enhancing the spirit magic around the place.”“Could be,” Josh nodded “you activated them with your Millennium Necklace didn’t you?”“But it’s only a copy,” Kim said “it doesn’t have any of the powers that the real necklace has.”“Maybe,” Josh said “but it’s connected to it, it’s like electricity, it transferred the energy from the real necklace into the crystals.”“I see,” Kim muttered.“Well are we going to get out of here or what?” Hiita said “I’m getting kinda bored.”“Why not,” Josh shrugged, stowing the Dark Magician card away “let’s get going.”They walked back down the devastated path, Kim still looking at Hiita in a confused manner.“Do you guys even know where the exit is?” Kim asked.“Who cares,” Josh said drawing a card from his deck “we’ll make one, Chaos Sorcerer, blast down this wall.”Josh’s monster rose up in front of him and blasted the wall with a ball of light and a ball of dark, obliterating it and sending a good deal of smoke everywhere. Josh recalled his monster.“See,” he said. The smoke cleared, there was no more maze left in front of them, however in their path something else stood, something much larger and much more mobile.“What the….?!” Josh’s eyes widened.“No way!” Jamin’s followed suite.“Is that…” Hiita began “the gate guardian?”The giant behemoth above them leered down, there was no expression in its face yet it somehow appeared more threatening, its top half was made of Sanga of the thunder, a small face but a large pair of powerful looking arms and a golden arc on its back. The body was a small green sphere that was the God of wind and its bottom half looked like a Blue skull with legs, namely Suijin.“Figures we’d meet one of those in a labyrinth,” Jamin muttered.“They do have a habit of hiding around in them,” Josh said, drawing a monster “let’s just take it down.”“Right,” Jamin replied, taking out his own monster.“Here goes nothing,” Kim muttered, mimicking them.“I call on the Sorcerer of Black Magic!” Josh declared.A well built magician in Black Arcane armour and a large dark staff emerged in front of Josh, throwing out one arm causing a few small thunderbolts to strike the ground.“I summon Horus the Black Flame Dragon Level eight!” Jamin followed.Jamin monster emerged, as Silver Dragon with the head of a falcon, in other words Horus.“And not forgetting Simorgh, Bird of Divinity,” Kim said as her giant green bird emerged behind her.“These are our best monsters, huh?” Josh said.“None of them come close to Gate Guardians power though,” Jamin said.“No harm in trying,” Josh said “we’ll just have to attack it at the same time.” Jamin and Kim nodded.“Dark Fire Burst!”“Celestial Blast!”“Divine Cyclone!”Horus fired a jet of Black fire at Gate Guardian’s feet, creating a raging inferno around it, however Suijin opening his mouth and fired a jet of water out, dousing the flames faster than they could burn. Simorgh opened its wings, shooting a cyclone at the Gate guardian, unfortunately Kazejin opened his mouth and fired a cyclone spinning the other way, and the two twisters collided and cancelled each other out. Finally Josh’s Magician fired directly at Sanga, a stream of golden magic flew straight towards it, the Gate Guardian raised its hands above its head, forming a thunder ball between them and firing it at the Dark Sorcerer’s attack, it struck and split through the beam heading straight for Josh’s monster, it struck directly and sent it flying backwards through one of the few remaining maze walls. Josh covered his face as a shockwave sped past, throwing dust and debris into the air.“It’s no use,” Jamin said “it can counter our attacks; we need a better strategy than this.”“Attacking it at the same time doesn’t seem to work,” Josh muttered “let’s try something else.” “Two steps ahead of you,” Jamin said, placing a card in his magic zone “I activate my trap booster, allowing me to ditch one card to the grave and play a trap from my hand.”“Huh?” Josh looked at him.“And I choose Curse of Anubis!” Jamin finished.Josh’s face brightened up “nice move,” he said.Jamin nodded, Gate Guardian was forced to kneel, covering its face with its arms.“How’s that going to help?” Kim said “it has way too high defense points too.”“Simple,” Jamin replied “Curse of Anubis also reduced its defense to zero; of course all of our monsters are affected too.”“Speak for yourself,” Hiita muttered, kneeling down behind Jamin “I feel silly.”“So we just use normal monsters,” Kim said “and I have one right here, go Harpie Girl.”“This is a turn up for the books,” Josh muttered, scratching his cheek.“Now I’ll attack Gate Guardian,” Kim said “with Talon Slash.”“What does she mean, ‘she’ll’ attack?” Josh muttered.“Long story,” Jamin muttered “longer day.”Harpie Girl flew forwards and took one slash out of Gate Guardian, she flew away just as Gate Guardian exploded, leaving their path clear.“Well that was easy,” Josh said as all their monsters returned “I need to get into spirit dueling more often.”They strode past the charred floor where Gate Guardian had stood, ahead of them was a door leading in a small chamber; as they entered they noticed a small Egyptian obelisk at the other end of the room, engraved with several hieroglyphs.“Well, where’s the ring?” Josh folded his arms.“Maybe a Hobbit stole it,” Jamin suggested.Josh sighed.“What?” “Let’s just grab the ring and get out of here,” Josh said “before I…”He’d moved forwards but a dark vortex had sprung up in front of him, and a new monster was emerging.“What the…?” Josh took a step backwards, raising his duel disk. The monster rising from the pool was normal adult height, will small bits of leather clothing here and there, a large helmeted head with horns, dark skin and a pair of blades on each arm, one arm also had a duel disk attached.“Skull Guardian?” Josh muttered.Skull Guardian looked up, glaring at Josh.“Be warned, stranger,” he said “I have been placed to guard this Sacred Item by Navok, and my orders are to let none past.”“We guessed,” Josh said, activating his duel disk “but I’m afraid we need that ‘Sacred Item’ of yours.”“Well, you won’t get it,” Skull Guardian replied, activating his duel disk.“Duel!”“This concept seems familiar,” Jamin muttered. “I’ll start,” Josh said “I’ll lay three cards face down, and summon Rapid Fire Magician in attack mode!”Josh’s Monster emerged from the ground, raising both its staffs threateningly.“Make your move,” Josh said darkly.“You’ll regret those words,” Skull Guardian replied “I’ll draw, and I’ll start by playing Pot of Greed, allowing me to pick up two new cards from my deck.”“We know what it does!” Hiita said “get on dueling already!”Skull Guardian ignored her and carried on: “Next, I’ll play trap booster, so by ditching one card, I get to play Level Conversion Lab from my Hand.”“Oh, I don’t know what that does,” Hiita said.“Now, I roll a dice,” Skull Guardian said “and downgrade the level of one of my monsters.”“Yeah, but you also have to show it to us,” Josh pointed out.Skull Guardian chuckled, and turned a blue card around, the Skull Guardian.“No way?” Jamin gasped.“Don’t be surprised,” Josh pointed out.“Now I roll my die,” Skull Guardian said, tossing one to the floor, it rolled over and landed on a five.”“Excellent,” he said “now Skull Guardian is a level five monster.”“So?” Josh said.“So now, I summon Manju of the ten Thounsand Hands!” Skull Guardian said.A grey creature covered in arms and hands emerged in front of Skull Guardian, grunting.“And he let’s me add Navok’s prayer to my hand,” Skull Guardian said “meaning that I can activate it, and sacrifice the Summoned Skull for the Skull Guardian!”A vortex appeared above Skull Guardian’s head; he tossed the Summoned Skull card into the void and out came an identical monster to the one dueling, except this one had no duel disk.“And if you think I’m done there, guess again,” Skull Guardian said “I play Ritual weapon, increasing my monsters attack power to 3550.” “But that can only be equipped to lower level Ritual monsters;” Jamin said “he’s cheating!”“Remember,” Josh said “he used a Level Conversion Lab; his monster is a level five for now.”“Very good,” Skull Guardian said “but I’m also equipping him with the Black Pendant, giving him 3950.”“This is gonna hurt,” Hiita muttered.“And I’ll also equip the Sword of Dark Destruction,” Skull Guardian Declared, giving my monster even more points.“Big time,” Hiita finished.“Skull Guardian, attack Rapid Fire Magician!” Skull Guardian ordered “Gravestone Slice!”The Skull Guardian on the field leapt forwards, striking down Josh’s monster.“I play Pyramid Energy!” Josh stated, meaning my monster gets an extra 200 points, meaning I take less damage!”However, his monster was still destroyed and his life points dropped to 1450.“Now, Manju, strike him!” Skull Guardian ordered. The many limbed beast ran forwards, punching Josh over and over again before retreating, and reducing Josh’s life points to 50.“To finish off, I’ll use monster reborn to resurrect the Summoned Skull,” Skull Guardian Declared “so, still think you can beat me?” “Please,” Josh scoffed “I’ve had better challenges from Nursery kids.” He drew a new card.“He’s gone big headed again,” Jamin sighed.“Again?” Kim asked.“Again,” Jamin repeated.“I’ll start by activating my face down card,” Josh said “Tower of Babel.”Without warning, a brown scroll smashed out of the ground, spiraling upwards and crashed through the ceiling, causing a few small chunks to fall down.“What’s the meaning of this?” Skull Guardian said.“It’s simple,” Josh said “when Tower of Babel has four spell counters on it, you take 3000 points of damage.”“Ha, that won’t be enough to win,” Skull Guardian said.“We’ll see,” Josh said “and we’ll start with Pot of Greed, so two cards for me…”A dark orb appeared near the tower and began orbiting around it.“Next, I’ll summon Apprentice Magician,” Josh stated, summoning his weakest monster to the field “and his effect allows me to add one spell counter to an appropriate card when he’s summoned.”Apprentice Magician raised his staff, firing an identical sphere of energy which began it orbit around the tower.“Still not impressed,” Josh said “then how about this, my Magical Dimension magic card, allowing me to sacrifice my Apprentice Magician, and summon Dark Magician!”Josh’s Apprentice vanished in a hurricane of dark magic, only to be replaced by the Dark Magician, which in turn added a new orb to the tower’s collection.“And Magical Dimension also allows me to destroy Summoned Skull,” Josh declared and Summoned Skull smashed.“Very impressive,” Skull Guardian said “but it seems you fell short one magic card, hard luck.”“Did I?” Josh said “I still have my other face down?”“What?”Josh’s face down flipped up and was revealed as the Pitch Black Power stone.“And this allows me to add one final counter to my tower,” Josh said “tower of Babel, activate!” The orbs were absorbed into the tower which began spinning, creating a hurricane of dark energy that flew towards skull guardian, surrounding him and tearing his life points apart.“Gyaaahhhhhh!!” He yelled in pain as his life points dropped to 1000.“Now for the final move,” Josh said “Dark Magician, attack Manju of the Ten Thousand Hand!”“Gr!”Dark Magician raised his staff and fired a sphere of green energy at Manju, obliterating him and reducing Skull Guardian’s life points to zero.“Wow,” Jamin said “that was………Quick.”The monsters faded and Skull Guardian Sank to his knees.“I’m defeated,” he said “my mission has failed.”“Not really,” Josh said “we need that item to restore peace, and stop the Dark Master Zorc from escaping his imprisonment.” The Obelisk behind skull guardian smashed, revealing the Millennium Ring inside of it.“Well that was easy,” Josh said striding past Skull Guardian. He reached out to grab the ring when something flew passed, skimming his hand, he immediately drew it back, clutching a shallow cut.“Ah! What the?” Josh looked up and saw a man clad in Sand Brown clothes jump down from the ceiling.“Impressive dueling,” he said “now I can claim this item for my master.”“Why you?” Jamin took a step forwards but a shuriken thudded into the ground in front of his toe.“Whoa!” He took a step back.“Hey!” Josh yelled “what’s the big idea?”The ninja chuckled, taking the Millennium ring.“My name is Kabeshin, I am the Dark Master’s most loyal servant,” he explained “and I have come to claim my prize.”“No you don’t,” Jamin said stepping forwards “we’ll duel you for it!”“Jamin,” Hiita gasped.“Not now,” Jamin muttered.“Jamin!” She repeated.Jamin looked round and saw that Hiita seemed to be evaporating.“W-what?”“It’s the ring,” Josh said “that must be what was supplying the main power to the crystals, but since they’re not the real items it need two.” “Hiita,” Jamin gasped “but that ring back, now!”Kabeshin chuckled.“Why? Just cause you’re girlfriend can’t exist in this world?” He said “you poor fool.”Jamin gritted his teeth as Hiita vanished completely.“I’m sorry,” she said quietly.“Why you!”Jamin turned round and charged at Kabeshin, he aimed a punch but Kabeshin merely hopped into the air, span round and kicked Jamin in the face, sending him flying to the ground.“No more spirit magic,” Kabeshin sighed “meaning you can’t do a thing to stop me.”Jamin glared at him, wiping the corner of his mouth.“You are so dead,” he snarled.“What you gonna do? Die on me?” Kabeshin laughed “bye.”He leapt up into the ceiling again.“No you don’t!” Jamin yelled after him, running the where he’d just been “come back down you coward!”Kabeshin suddenly appeared directly behind Jamin and kicked him forwards into the wall.“Jamin!” Kim gasped.“Pathetic,” Kabeshin laughed “barely even a…”He was cut short when a talon suddenly grabbed his head and slammed him into the wall, he collapsed next to Jamin, recovering from what had just happened.“What the?”Josh blinked and looked over at Kim; she was holding both hands to her Necklace and was apparently asleep.“Okay,” he muttered. He looked up and was shocked to see a Harpie Girl flying just above Kabeshin.“I see,” Kabeshin muttered “you have your own spirit magic, your spirit.”“I hope that’s not an insult,” Kim/Harpie Girl said.“Ha, I was taken by surprise,” Kabeshin laughed “not anymore.”He leapt into the air, aiming a kick at Kim’s Harpie form; she dodged to the side and slammed her talon into his back, sending him sprawling to the floor. Josh picked his up by the collar and hefted him into the air.“Surprised?” Josh asked “I’ve seen a lot of this stuff lately, and I’m guessing that strong Spirit magic, to make your soul take form.”“Heh, it’s a weak soul anyway,” Kabeshin laughed.Josh’s eyes widened and he dropped Kebashin, collapsing to his knees and clutching his stomach where he’d just been kicked hard. “Nice try,” Kabeshin said, not noticing the shadow behind him, that appeared to be moving “but this item is…”“Mine!”“Huh?” Jamin looked up and saw a pair of yellow eyes leering down on Kabeshin.A pair of shadows arms reached out and grabbed Kabeshin around the neck, strangling him and causing him to drop the ring. He broke free and span round kicking out, but he hit nothing but air.“You can’t strike a Shadow,” Diablo said “who need Spirit magic, when you have Shadow magic!”Harpie Girl vanished and Kim snapped out of her trance. “Him again?” She gasped.Diablo picked up the ring from the floor, it seemed to flow into him as his body took a fully humanoid form, but this time it looked more solid; they could still see the ring floating around inside him, right where the heart would be.“With each item I grow stronger,” Diablo laughed “the more Shadow magic I absorb, the stronger I become.”Kabeshin picked himself off the floor.“Diablo, you traitor!” He yelled.“Traitor?” Diablo looked round at Kabeshin “no, I will turn the items over to Zorc, eventually, after I have destroyed the world for him, then he will praise me above all others.”Diablo laughed and vanished into Shadow. Behind them, Skull Guardian was also evaporating.“Get out of here,” he gasped “you have to go, it’s you only chance, this temple is about to collapse, without the ring there is nothing to stabilize the magic here, go!”He vanished completely and the room began shaking.“Oh great,” Jamin said “we gotta get out of here, and we can’t blast the maze down anymore.”“There’s another way,” Kabeshin said “the way I came in.”“And why would we trust you?” Jamin glared down at him.Josh picked himself up off the ground, glaring at him.“Because I’m your only hope,” Kabeshin said.He ran past Jamin and raised his leg, striking the wall. The area that he hit slid in and a wall moved aside at the other end of the room.“Go!” He said “you have to catch Diablo, I know what he’s like, and he’ll try anything just to gain power.” “Right,” Josh said.He ran out through the passage, followed by Kim. Jamin ran over but stopped and looked around, noticing Kabeshin pick something blue off the floor.“Come on,” he said “we have to get out of here.”“Why do you suddenly care about me all of a sudden?” Kabeshin asked, standing up and stowing the item away.Jamin put on a smug smile: “Because you’re our only chance,” he said.Kabeshin nodded and followed Jamin out of the passage. The passage emerged in the entrance of a cave, just outside of the pyramid; Josh and Kim were already waiting for them.“Come on,” Josh said.Kabeshin took the mask off his face, pushing his hair out of his face; his face looked weather-beaten and there was a hint of a stubble on his chin, his hair was black and pointed, rising out of his head line a small mountain range.“There’s not much time,” he said, fitting a black duel disk onto his arm “we have to find Diablo.”“No need,”“Huh?”They looked round and saw Diablo standing in front of them, still with the Ring floating as his heart.“So, Kabeshin,” he said “fancy a nice friendly duel between friends?”“Only if you return the ring to me,” Kabeshin said.“Hm, but that’s unfair, you have nothing to bet,” Diablo said “why should I risk my ring?”“Because we have an item too,” Kabeshin said, looking over at Kim.“Hey, don’t try anything funny!” Jamin said “how do we know you won’t just take both?”“Look, I want that ring as much as you do,” Kebashin said “as soon as I get it, we can duel over it.”“Fair enough,” Josh said “now get on with it.”Kabeshin nodded and turned back to face Diablo. Diablo laughed and a wing grew out of his arm, shaping into a duel disk, his writ opened up like a claw, producing a deck of cards enveloped in Shadow.“Duel!”

TotalObelisk
Episode 14... [spoiler=episode]A slight breeze blew across the field, throwing a small amount of sand across the landscape. Jamin, Josh and Kim watch from the sidelines as the duel between Diablo and Kabeshin began.“Who are we routing for again?” Kim asked.“The one in the ninja suit,” Josh said. “Allow me to begin,” Diablo began “by playing the cheerful coffin, allowing me to discard Goldd, Silvia and Beiige from my hand, but then I can special summon them to my field!”Three monsters emerged from the ground in front of Diablo, this time however they were burning with black fire and were darker colours.“And then I’ll summon Dark Blade in attack mode,” Diablo declared, summoning his black knight “still think you can win?”“We’ll just see,” Kabeshin said, drawing “I place two cards face down and summon Strike Ninja in defense mode!”A black ninja appeared in front of Kabeshin, crossing his arms across his chest.“Do you really think that weakling stands a chance against my monsters?” Diablo laughed “fool, Goldd, attack!”Goldd raised his fist, aiming a punch at Strike ninja.“I activate my trap card!” Kabeshin replied.“Nothing can stand in my way!” Diablo yelled.Goldd fist continued, but as it struck a loud explosion sounded and a ton of smoke was thrown into the air. Jamin pulled his glasses over his eyes, squinting at the field.“What just happened,” Kim said, covering her eyes. The smoke cleared and revealed Kabeshin’s strike ninja, still standing with its arms folded, if its face had been visible there would probably have been a very smug expression showing on it.“What!?” Diablo cursed “how did it survive.”“Simple,” Kabeshin said, as the smoke moved aside some more “look again.”Diablo’s yellow eyes widened as the smoke revealed that Goldd had in fact punched a tree, standing where Strike Ninja had just been.“My Ninjutsu art of decoy trap means my ninja can’t be destroyed,” Kebashin explained “sorry, but I think I just stopped you.”“One lucky move won’t save you,” Diablo cursed again “I’ll lay one card down and end my turn.”“Fine by me,” Kabeshin said “my draw!”Kabeshin looked at his card and a grin crossed his face.“What’s that for?” Diablo demanded. “This,” Kabeshin replied “I play my Fuhma Shuriken spell card!”A pair of throwing stars appeared in Strike Ninja’s hands, raising his attack power up to 2400.“Now attack!” Kabeshin ordered “take down his Wu-Lord!”Strike ninja leapt into the air and tossed his Shuriken one after the other, both struck Diablo’s monster, destroying it and dropping his life points to 3900.“I’m not done yet,” Kabeshin said “I summon a monster in face down defense position, and end my turn.”“You’re gonna regret that!” Diablo snarled “it’s my turn now, so I’ll sacrifice my Vanguard to summon Kiryu in attack mode!”Diablo’s monster was swept up in a vortex and replaced by a skeletal red dragon, soaring above the rest of Diablo’s monsters.“Now my dragon, equip to Dark Blade!” Diablo ordered.Kiryu swooped down behind Dark Blade, Dark Blade leapt up, landing on Kiryu’s back and gliding high into the air.“And now for the fun part,” Diablo laughed “but sacrificing Kiryu, Dark Blade can attack you directly!”Kabeshin’s eyes widened as the Dragon-Rider sped towards him. Dark Blade leapt off Kiryu, sending the dragon careering into Kabeshin, dropping his life points to 2200.“Ha, you’re pathetic;” Diablo laughed “is that really the best you can do?” “I’ll show you pathetic,” Kebashin said “Because it’s my turn now, and I play my other face down,” Kabeshin said “Ninjutsu art of transformation!”“What!?”“Hey Kim,” Josh said “you still got all your cards?”“Huh? Yeah,” Kim answered.“Just wondering,” Josh smiled.“I sacrifice my face down Armed Ninja,” Kabeshin said “and summon Swift Birdman Joe in attack mode!”“Huh?” Kim looked confused “but he’s got a ninja deck!”“That’s what that trap card does,” Josh said smiling “he tributes a ninja and summons a bird.”“I’m confused,” Kim said.“Now, birdman attack Dark Blade!” Kabeshin ordered.Kabeshin’s monster swooped up into the air and then dived back down, slashing Diablo’s monster and destroying it.“Strike Ninja, attack!” Kabeshin ordered.Strike Ninja leapt forwards, casting its Shuriken at Diablo’s remaining monster and destroying it, redicing his life points to 3300.“You think one move will save you?” Diablo snarled.“Certainly looks like it,” Kabeshin smirked “I’ll be getting that ring back anytime soon.”“Yeah, so we can duel it off you,” Josh said smugly.“Don’t interrupt me,” Kabeshin sighed “I end my turn.” “So now I’ll go,” Diablo said “I play Pot of Greed, allowing me to…”“For the love of Isis we know what it does already,” Jamin yelled “it’s not like its some super new ultra rare card you know!”“You guys have no sense of drama,” Kim sighed.“As I was saying, I draw two cards,” Diablo said “and the first one I play is premature burial, allowing me to pay 800 life points to resurrect Dark Blade from the graveyard!”Diablo’s life points dropped by 800 and Dark Blade burst from the ground, brandishing his sword.“Is that it?” Kabeshin asked.“Not by a long shot,” Kabeshin laughed “I play polymerization and fuse Dark Blade with the Pitch-Dark Dragon!”“Huh?”A vortex appeared behind Diablo along with a Black Dragon, then Dark Blade and Pitch Dark Dragon were sucked in and disappeared within the vortex.“Now what?” Jamin said.“I summon Dark Blade the Dragon Knight!” Diablo declared.“Whoa!” Jamin looked up as the Dragon re-emerged with Dark Blade riding on the back of it.“Ha, looks like you messed up after all,” Kabeshin said smugly “your monster can’t touch either of mine.”“Well, it looks like it’s your move then.” Diablo smirked.“Fine,” Kabeshin said “Bird man, attack!” Diablo chuckled lightly. “You fool,” he laughed “you’ve activated my trap, Metalmorph!”“What!?”“No way,” Kabeshin’s eyes widened.“Now my monster gains 300 extra points,” Diablo chuckled, and your birdman goes pop!”Dark Blade’s Dragon caught Bird Man Joe in his mouth, biting down and destroying him, knocking Kabeshin’s life points down to 2000.“I still have my strike ninja,” Kabeshin said “I’ll end my turn.”“Not the best decision,” Diablo smirked “you see, once my monster attack he’ll gain and extra 1200 points, more than enough to take out your precious ninja.”Kabeshin’s eyes narrowed.“Now my Dragon Rider!” Diablo ordered “attack his ninja!”Dark Blade dived on his dragon, firing a stream of black flame before pulling up, Kabeshin life points dropped to 700.“Still think you can win?” Diablo cackled.“I don’t think I’ll win,” Kabeshin replied “I know I’ll win.”“Well I’ll finish off by placing one card face down, and ending my turn.” Diablo said.“My draw then!” Kabeshin said “and don’t forget, my Strike Ninja can’t be destroyed in battle, so he’s still available for me to use. Next I’ll play my Allied Forces spell card, increasing my ninja’s attack power by 200. And that’s enough to take care of your Dragon Rider”“Impressive,” Diablo said admittedly “but can you actually land an attack?”“Let’s see shall we?” Kabeshin smirked “Strike Ninja destroy his monster now.”Kabeshin’s Ninja leapt up into the air, tossing his Shuriken at Diablo’s monster.“Tough love Kabeshin!” Diablo laughed “you just set of a trap card, Mask of Weakness!”“What!”“Now I’m afraid your ninja loses 700 attack points,” Diablo laughed “and you take 600 points of damage.”Dark Blade deflected the Shuriken with his sword, sending them right back at Kabeshin, dropping his life points down to 100.”“You’re through,” Diablo laughed “you won’t survive long enough with pathetic moves like that.”“We’ll see who’s pathetic,” Kabeshin snarled “I’ll lay one card face down and end my turn.”“Then allow me to end you!” Diablo laughed “attack my monster, destroy the rest of his life points!”Dark Blade the Dragon Knight dived forwards, letting loose the same black flame attack as before.“I play my trap!” Kabeshin declared “Desert Sunlight!”“What?”“This switched my monster into defense mode, and protects my life points.” Kabeshin explained.“Gr!”A bright light shone from the sun above them, Strike Ninja immediately kneeled down, crossing his arms across his chest. The black flame attack headed straight for him and was blocked by a rainbow coloured barrier around Strike ninja, reflecting the attack.“Well, it looks like you’ll last just a bit longer,” Diablo sighed. “I take it that mean it’s my move!” Kabeshin replied, drawing a new card.“Drawn anything good?” Diablo teased “something that’ll get you out of a jam? Something that can thwart my moves effortlessly?”One of Kabeshin’s eyes twitched and his eyebrows dipped.“We’ll see.” He said “I’ll lay one card face down and end my turn!”“How pitiful,” Diablo sighed “seems you’re not cut out as the duelist I hoped you’d be; after all I can think of a ton of cards in my deck that can defeat you right now!”“Just make your move,” Kabeshin warned.“As you wish,” Diablo chuckled “I play Dark World dealings, this allows us both to draw a single card, but then we have to discard a card as well.”“Fine by me,” Kabeshin said, dropping one of his cards into the graveyard.“And I’ll send the Huntsman of Dark World I just drew to the grave,” Diablo explained “this allows me to draw another card from my deck.”“That was a little pointless,” Jamin pointed out “that barely did anything to his card count.”“Oh?” Diablo turned his haze to Jamin “well it allowed me to draw a very good card, but in the meantime I will end my turn.”Kabeshin narrowed his eyes and drew a card from his deck.“I play Armed Ninja in defense mode,” he declared.“Huh?” Jamin raised an eyebrow “why would he do that?”“He’s planning something;” Josh muttered “I can tell.”“Next, I’ll place two cards face down,” Kabeshin explained “make your move.” “Ah, hiding behind two pathetic monsters I see,” Diablo chuckled “well, let’s see if I can cut them down to size!”Diablo drew a new card from his deck and sneered.“Dark Blade, attack his armed ninja!” Diablo ordered. The same dive and flame attack began, this time heading towards Kabeshin’s weaker monster.“I activate my trap card,” Kabeshin said “Ninjitsu Art of Transformation!”“Again!”“I sacrifice my armed ninja!” Kabeshin explained as his monster vanished in a puff of smoke “and summon Blade Rabbit in attack mode!”The smoke cleared, revealing a Cream coloured bunny with an eye patch and wielding a sword where the armed ninja had been. For a moment time seemed to stand still, a breeze swept across the field, Jamin’s jaw had dropped, Josh looked slightly bemused and Kim was entering a monologue about how cute it was. Diablo, being incapable of expression, merely had a wider pair of eyes than normal, Kabeshin however remained serious. “You’re kidding right?” Josh said.“Nope,” Kabeshin replied.“You’re serious?” Jamin added.“Yep.”“He’s cute!” Kim interrupted.“That thing’s a level two monster?” Diablo butted in.“Yeah,” Kabeshin replied.“Does it have any magic or traps for it?” Josh asked.“Nope,”“Does it fuse with anything?” Jamin asked.“Nope,” Kabeshin replied.“And it only has 400 attack points!” Josh added.“Yep,”Diablo paused for a second.“Attack it…”Dark Blade’s dragon let loose its black fire assault, aiming for Kabeshin’s less than threatening bunny.“Well, when I said no trap card combos, I meant no specific ones,” Kabeshin pointed out “which is why I’m playing my second face down, Desert sunlight!”“Again?” Jamin scratched his head.“You see,” Kabeshin said “when my rabbit is switched into defense mode, I can destroy your monster!”“What?”Blade rabbit crouched down, sticking it sword in its mouth and nibbling it, as Dark Blade approached it pulled the carrot off its back and hurled it at Diablo’s monster, hitting the dragon right between the eyes and destroying it. Jamin, Josh and Kim stood with blank expressions on their faced, Diablo just floated with a pair of wide yellow eyes. “Josh,” Jamin said.“Yeah?” Josh replied.“Let’s never touch another carrot as long as we live,” Jamin said.“Agreed,” Josh pointed out.“He’s so cute!”“So, are you done?” Kabeshin smirked.“Nope,” Diablo said “I’ll lay one card face down and end my turn.”“Fine by me,” Kabeshin smirked “time to end this duel now!”Kabeshin drew a new card from his deck and immediately played it.“Time to bring out an old friend!” Kabeshin said “I activate the spell card Navok’s prayer!”“Wha..?”“That thing?” Josh looked at Kabeshin, aghast. “He must have picked it up after the spirit magic faded,” Jamin muttered.“I sacrifice Strike Ninja, Blade Rabbit and the Armed Ninja in my hand,” Kabeshin explained “and summon Skull guardian.”Both Kabeshin’s monster morphed into six balls of red light and were absorbed into the Navok’s prayer card, Kabeshin discarded another Armed Ninja to his grave and the card glowed bright, and Skull Guardian emerged from a shining vortex in the ground in front of Kabeshin with his arms crossed over his front. Once he’d emerged fully he opened up his arms, forming into a battle stance.“And thanks to my Shuriken card,” Kabeshin explained “you lose 700 life points.”A pair of Shuriken shot from nowhere, both striking Diablo and dropping his life points to 1800.“Skull Guardian has more than enough points to take card of you now?” Kabeshin smirked “Skull Guardian, attack!”“He’s through,” Jamin smirked.“I don’t think so,” Josh muttered “knowing Diablo.”“I play my face down card!” Diablo declared “Gateway to Dark World, this allow me to special summon a Dark World monster from my graveyard, and you know what? I choose Goldd!” Diablo’s Wu-Lord emerged from a black vortex, blocking Skull Guardian’s path to Diablo and his life points.“Any last requests?” Diablo asked, menacingly.Kabeshin gritted his teeth.“I end my turn,” he sighed.“Good!” Diablo laughed “because now I can end you, Goldd, attack Skull Guardian!” Diablo ordered.Goldd moved forwards, raising his staff and bringing it down on Kabeshin’s monster, destroying it and reducing his life points to 1650.“Face it,” Diablo laughed “you’re no match for me, Kabeshin. I’ll end by placing one monster in defense mode, make your final move.”“We’ll see about that!” Kabeshin retorted, drawing a card violently “I play pot of greed, allowing me to draw two more cards.”Kabeshin picked up two cards from his deck, and then placed them in his hand.“I summon Ninja Grandmaster Sasuke in attack mode!” Kabeshin declared “now I activate the spell card block attack! Switching your Wu-Lord into defense mode!”“What!?”“Now since your monster is in defense mode, my monster will destroy it regardless.” Kabeshin explained “now my monster, attack his Wu-Lord of Dark World with your Hikaru Blade!” Kabeshin’s monster leapt into the air, tossing two ninja daggers at Diablo’s monster, both struck him and destroyed him as a result. Diablo glared at Kabeshin.“And I hope you haven’t forgotten,” Kabeshin said “thanks to the Allied Forces, my monster has 2000 attack points, and so whatever monsters you use next are useless.”“We’ll see about that,” Diablo snarled.“I’ll end with one card face down,” Kabeshin declared “your move.”Diablo floated where he was, seemingly lost in his thoughts, if he had any. “It’s always the same,” he thought “nothing changes, even in this ultimate form, they still defy me and my master.”Diablo’s mind began to wander back into his past, a long and dark past that was all but forgotten. A 4 year old Diablo sat, crouched in a hallway, the wallpaper was barely there and there was little light coming in through murky windows. Diablo shivered, listening to the sound of two voices yelling at each other in the room beyond. Eventually he stood up and wandered over to a crooked staircase, catching a bit of the conversation.“I don’t care what he thinks!” A man’s voice said “the boy’s nothing but a drag down, we’d be ay better off without him.”“Chris is not a drag down!” A woman replied “for christ’s sake Christian, he’s your son!”Diablo, or Chris as he was known, froze on the stairs, not wanting to listen but unable to continue.“I’m not living in a house with that brat!” Chris’ father replied “he’s useless, when was the last time he did anything for us except eat us out of house and home?”“Maybe if you were a bit more supportive…!”A loud slap sounded from the room, Chris screwed up his eyes, a single tear forming at the corner. A few moments later, his mother stormed out of the room, picked up a suitcase and walked out of the door without so much as sparing Chris a sympathetic glance.“Mum?” Chris said emptily “where are you going?”She didn’t answer and was gone from sight.“Mum?” A tear rolled down Diablo’s cheek. Six years later, Diablo lay in an overgrown garden, the weeds reaching high above him, pointing towards the sky. A few birds sailed past in a V formation, Chris almost managed a smile as he saw them.“I wish I was a bird,” he sighed “I wish I could just fly away.”The sky began to darken as a cloud moved across the sky and a few drops of rain began falling all around. Chris sat up, holding out his palm to catch the drops. He looked over at the run down house he and his father lived in. His dad had spent no money trying to rebuild it, preferring to waste it all on drink and alcohol; as a result Diablo was nearly always hungry, and thin as a rake. He stood up and wandered over to the house, opening the creaky door and moving silently inside. He looked up and saw his father standing in the hallway, and instantly fear grew in his eyes. His father had a mane of untidy black hair, an untamed beard and dark brown eyes. There was a large amount of sick down his front and a bottle of some odd smelling stuff in his hand.“You still here, Brat?” He said “haven’t you died yet?”Chris glared at his father, hatred rising up within him. Seeing this, his father grabbed him by the collar and lifted him bodily off the ground.“You got something to say to me?” He demanded.“N-no,” Chris coughed “nothing.”Chris’ father snorted and let go, Chris dropped limply to the ground, tears welling in his eyes.“You’re nothing,” his father said, kicking him in the stomach “you’re good for nothing, you hear me?” Chris got steadily to his feet, glaring at his father. A black fire grew behind his eyes, filling Chris with anger.“I don’t know why I bother with you?” His father said gruffly, before turning away and walking into the living room.Chris wiped the tear of his eyes, wishing he could yell back without being beaten by his father.“I hate you,” he said under his breath “I hate you so much I want you dead.”He turned and ran out of the door, running as fast as he could away from his father, he’d barely reached the street before his energy ran out. He stopped, panting for breath with his hands on his knees, a few tears running down his face.“I hate you,” he repeated quietly. He stood up, but his head remained down, his eyes hidden in shadow.“I’m going to kill you,” he promised “I swear I will kill you.” “How?”“What…?” Chris looked up suddenly “who’s there?”“Your worst nightmare,” the voice replied.“S-show yourself,” Chris said, raising a pair of shaking fists “I-I’m not afraid of you!”“I doubt that,” the voice replied “but I’m afraid I cannot show myself, I only exist in this world by spirit, not by form.”“Who are you?” Chris demanded.“I am the Lord of Darkness,” the voice said “the creator of the Shadow realm, the destroyer of worlds and the emperor of the end.”Chris’ eyes widened and he took a step backwards, looking all around him.“What do you want with me?” He asked.“I want your hate,” Zorc replied “I want your anger, your loathing, and your desire for death.”“What?”“I can give you what you desire,” Zorc said “just give your life to me and I’ll give you to power to grant your wish.”Diablo’s jaw dropped as a large black hand seemed to form in front of him, although he could see straight through it. He reached for it.“That’s it,” Zorc said “swear your loyalty to the shadows, serve me. That is all I ask.”“Very well,” Diablo said.He took the arm, a black fire suddenly spread along it, reforming his body into a strong, powerful form. Diablo let it consume him, feeling it making him stronger.“That’s it,” Zorc said “it’s a very simple price, I grant you your heart’s desire, all I ask is your loyalty, Diablo.”Diablo knelt down on one knee.“I am yours,” he replied “now give me to power…”“You have it,” Zorc replied.Diablo got to is feet, looking at his hand ad the same black fire flickered around it; he began laughing softly then turned around and walked back up to his house. At the moment his father was watching a tiny and cracked television, depicting Judai dueling against Yugi, Neos and Dark Magician charged at each other, about to strike. Just as they were about to collide the screen blacked out.“Damn television!” Chris’ father hit it with his fist “if it weren’t for that boy…!”“Talking about me?” Diablo asked from the doorway.“Huh?” Chris’ father turned about and saw his son, imbued with Shadow magic “what the?”“Hello father,” Diablo moved forwards.“Get out of here,” his father demanded. The fire around Diablo grew, and a giant black creature emerged behind him, smashing the ceiling above them.“What the?”“There’s one thing I want to say to you,” Diablo said as Reign grabbed his father, hoisting him off the ground just as he’d done before “I hate you,” Diablo said “I hate you to the very pit of my soul, I want you dead and now you are.”“What?” Fear showed in his father’s eyes.“Goodbye,” Diablo said “say hello to Satan for me.”“Chris, no!”Reign threw his father out of the window, and straight through it. His father rolled over for a few moments then scrambled to his feet, running with a panic stricken look on his face. He barely reached the end of the garden when Goldd and Sillva appeared in front of him. He stopped dead in his tracks, fear in his eyes.“What’s going on?” He gasped. The ground around him burst open and long black vines shot out, wrapping around him and lifting him painfully into the air. The rest of the wall exploded, Diablo stepped out of the smoke, flanked by Zure and Beiige.“Don’t worry father,” Diablo said “I’m sure it’s just the alcohol giving you nightmares!”Diablo’s father screamed as the vines grew tighter; Diablo took Zure’s sword and raised it above his head.“Goodbye!” He said and threw it straight at his father’s heart. Diablo’s flashback ended, he floated where he was, glaring at Kabeshin.“My powers have grown far beyond those of any of my master’s other servants,” Diablo thought “so this duel will be simple.”Kabeshin glared back at Diablo, waiting silently.“My draw then!” Diablo said “time to finish you off, I activate the spell card Shrink, this cuts your monsters attack power in half, so now he only has 800 attack.”“Huh?” Kabeshin’s monster suddenly shrunk, and his attack points dropped.“Now I flip up my double Coston,” Diablo declared “so I sacrifice it, and summon Reign-Beux, overlord of Dark World!”Diablo stronger monster emerged in a storm of black fire in front of him, Kabeshin’s eyes widened in fear as he stared up at the monstrosity. Diablo’s eyes grew wide with madness and his laughter began to ring out.“Now my overlord,” he began “destroy him!”Reign raised his weapon, and brought it to aim at Kabeshin’s monster, firing a stream of black lightning. The resulting impact caused a massive shockwave, sending sand and dust everywhere, Jamin, Josh and Kim covered their eyes and Kabeshin yelled as his monster was destroyed and his life points wiped out. TotalObelisk
Episode 15: For anybody still reading XD... [spoiler=episode]Kabeshin collapsed on one knee, clutching his chest.“I…Lost,” he gasped.“Precisely,” Diablo laughed “how pathetic you look, I’ll be taking my prize now.”Diablo raised his hand; Kim’s millennium necklace snapped off her neck and flew into Diablo’s outstretched arm and was absorbed into it.“Hey!” Kim retorted.“See you later,” Diablo said “the millennium ring will now guide me to the next item, and soon I will covert them all!”Diablo’s ring glowed inside him.“No!” Jamin ran forwards, taking Diablo by surprise.“What the…?”“Jamin!” Josh yelled.Jamin leapt forwards, plunging his hand into Diablo’s chest and grabbing the ring. It illuminated almost as soon as he touched it and exploded into a blinding light, forcing Josh, Kim and Kabeshin to cover their eyes.“This is bad right?” Kim asked.“No kidding!” Josh replied. The light faded, as soon as Josh looked up Jamin and Diablo had vanished. Josh ran forwards to where they had been.“Jamin!” He yelled “Jamin! Can you hear me?”“They’ve gone,” Kabeshin said “each item will navigate to the next, so the ring has taken them to where the next item is held.”Josh span round and grabbed Kabeshin by the collar.“This is your fault,” he spat “if you hadn’t stolen the ring, Diablo wouldn’t have taken it from you, and then it was you who lost the duel.”Kabeshin thrust both his arms between Josh’s and pulled them apart, then used Josh’s open front to do a spin kick right into his chest, knocking him down.“What’s done is done!” Kabeshin argued “there’s nothing we can do now!”“Oh I think there is!” Josh replied, a red glint visible round his iris.“Guys, calm down!” Kim yelled at them “this is not the time to be arguing.”Josh looked up at her, the red in his eyes vanishing.“Well what now?” He said “we need to follow them somehow.”“Nothing simpler,” Kabeshin said.He reached into his collar and pulled out a gold locket, when he opened it he revealed what looked like a campus, at the moment spinning like crazy.“This is set to search for the Millennium ring,” he said “that’s how I found you, but the ring is still traveling, so it’ll take a while to settle down.”“Some holiday this turned out to be,” Kim muttered. Jamin looked up at the three duelists in front of him, they were all at least twice his height and much older than him, he was only about nine years old and only four feet tall. His duel disk was out but he only had one monster on the field, a Battle Ox. He’d been forced into dueling the three bullies at once, and he only had 250 life points left.“You’re through pip-squeak,” the middle one said. The three bullies each had a Vorse Raider out each.“No kiddin’,” said the one to his left “this was easy.”Jamin quivered again.“Vorse Raider, attack with Fore-Arm Slash!” The Bully ordered. The first Vorse Raider ran forwards, destroying Jamin Battle Ox with one swipe, and dropping Jamin’s life points to 50. The Bullies laughed at him.“This was easier than that three year old last week,” one of them said.“Yeah, this guy’s no fun at all.” “Oi!” A voice called from behind them, the bullies looked round and saw a kid with dark hair standing behind them “What do you think you’re doing?” He demanded.“You got a problem with us?” The middle bully said.“Let’s see, picking on a kid three on one? Hardly respectful is it?” Josh replied.“This kid’s got lip,” said Bully number three “let’s just do this the old fashioned way.”His companions nodded and they all charged at Josh, all aiming a punch at him simultaneously. Josh ducked and rolled under them.“Hey what the!” The three turned round “hey where’d my...?”“Looking for this?” Josh asked, holding up the duel disk.He slipped it on and inserted his own deck into it.“If you’re gonna pick on little kids then pick on me,” he said “and make it fair.”Josh drew four cards from his deck.“I’ll summon Time Wizard,” he said “so I flip a coin.”Josh pulled a coin from his pocket, and flipped it into the air. “Heads,” he declared, the coin dropped to the floor, rolled for a bit and then landed on heads.Josh’s time wizard raised his staff, sending out a massive shockwave and obliterated the Vorse Raiders.“Then I’ll play Magical Dimension,” Josh said “sacrificing Time Wizard and summoning Dark Magician.”Josh’s Time Wizard vanished and was replaced by Josh’s much more impressive dark magician.“Any last requests?” Josh asked with a narrowed eye. Jamin watched, awestruck as Josh took out the bullies in just a few moves, knocking their life points to zero and sending them running off, yelling revenge threats at Josh. Josh ignored them and turned back to Jamin.“You okay kiddo?” He asked, despite them being roughly the same age“Yeah, I’m fine,” Jamin replied “but you…”He looked up, Josh was much taller than him, but he had a warm smile on his face and his hand was outstretched.“No offence,” Josh said “but you suck.”Jamin wiped a tear from one eyes and smiled back, Josh wasn’t criticizing him, and he seemed more like he was making a joke.“I only started playing last week,” Jamin explained “when they found out I had some cards, they ganged up on me.”“Don’t worry about it,” Josh said “they might seem tough to you, but in actual fact they’re pretty week.”“So, when did you start playing?” Jamin asked.“I’ve been playing all my life,” Josh said, but he didn’t seem proud of the fact.“Oh,” Jamin decided not to ask any further “say, er….”“Josh,”“Josh,” Jamin repeated “since you know so much, do you think you could teach me?”Josh’s smile returned to his face. “There’s no teaching about it,” he said “but I can help you get better.”“Good enough,” Jamin replied. Jamin stirred back into the present. As he woke his first impression was that of lying on a hard stone floor, and a very uneven one at that. He got to his feet, brushing dust off his front and looking about, however it may as well have been pitch black, there was barely any light and his vision was drifting in and out of focus.“Josh?” He called out “Kim?”His voice echoed around him, but there was no answer. Jamin’s vision began to get better, and he could make out shapes in front of him, they looked like piles of rocks. Jamin rubbed his eyes, clearing his vision completely, from the small light he was able to see by he noticed that he was in some sort of cave.“Anybody there?” He called.“Ssh! You wanna cause a cave-in?”Jamin looked round and jumped at the sight of Diablo’s pair of yellow eyes staring at him, seemingly floating in the air.“Stay away from me!” He said, backing off.“I said ssh!” Diablo repeated “this place isn’t stable.”Jamin stopped and looked around, then noticed the pile of rocks again, then it dawned on him that that was where the light was coming from and therefore must be the exit.“We’re not.”Diablo’s eyes lowered, probably indicating a nod.“Yes, we’re trapped,” Diablo said “guess our arrival was a little too dramatic for the old cave to withstand.”“Why do you care if I get flattened?” Jamin asked “you’re just a shadow remember.”“I may be, but the items are perfectly solid,” Diablo said “the ring took us here, so there must be an item in this cave somewhere, and personally I’d actually like to get it out.”“Fine, I get the picture,” Jamin said looking around “that means I’m trapped in here, and you won’t leave till you get the item.”“Yes,” Diablo said.“And what if the items not here?” Jamin asked.“Impossible,” Diablo answered “the ring took us here, it should be here.”“Well, from what I know being around an active item, meaning one not been discovered yet, my spirit powers would be enhanced by its power until it’s retrieved.”“So?” Diablo asked.“So this,” Jamin said, placing a random card on his duel disk.Nothing happened.“It’s probably being blocked,” Diablo muttered.“Or,” Jamin said “somebody’s got at it already.”“How would they even know where it is?” Diablo spat “their either hidden or guarded.”“Maybe we should explore down here a bit more,” Jamin suggested looking down the dark passage.”“I’ve looked down there,” Diablo said “it’s nothing but a dead end.”“Well let’s look again,” Jamin said, pulling a torch from out of his back-pack.He moved down the passage, squeezing through the small gap that it was and moving forwards on his knees. After only a few minutes he came to a solid wall in front of him.“See,” Diablo confirmed.Jamin ran his hand over the smooth surface.“Smooth,” he muttered.“So?” Diablo asked, floating behind him.“There’s no water in here,” Jamin replied “so how did it get smooth?”“Chance?” Diablo answered “what do I care?” Jamin hit the wall hard; it shook slightly, like a sliding door that was loose on its tracks.“Your not solid remember,” Jamin smirked “so you couldn’t examine it properly.”He pressed one hand against the smooth wall and drew it across, it did indeed slide over. Jamin smiled again and crawled through.“Easy where you know…Wha!”He toppled forwards, fell a few feet and then landed on his back at the bottom of the small drop.“How.” He finished, somewhat disgruntled.Diablo looked ahead of them, the tunnel had been dug out; the walls showed signs of being hacked away and there was a light at the end. He floated down next to Jamin as he got to his feet.“Satisfied yet?” Jamin asked, brushing himself down.“Beginner’s luck,” Diablo muttered. Jamin set off down the tunnel, accompanied by Diablo who grew fainter and fainter as they drew closer to the light. Once they reached the end Jamin pressed himself against the wall and leaned over to look in. A large cavern was laid before them, however this once looked like it had been made habitable, there were lit torches along the walls, casting dancing shadows everywhere, a large pillar of rock stood in the centre, a fireplace dug out of it and a long semi circle sofa was sat in front of it.“This is different,” Jamin muttered. He moved forwards, Diablo moved behind him, using his dancing shadow to glide across the room. As they approached the sofa, Jamin could make out a silhouette of a head poking over the tip, he coughed. The head looked round, the man attached to it was bald except for a few white tufts growing around the sides, and his eyes were blank so the presence of the glasses on the tip of his nose didn’t seem at all necessary.“Who’s there?” He asked.“Err, just me,” Jamin said, then looked round at Diablo “us.”“Us?” The man stood up, he was extremely crooked and looked like he would collapse “are you, them?”“Them?” Jamin raised an eyebrow.“Yes,” the old man said “are you, his?”“Err….?”“He means me,” Diablo hissed.“Oh,” Jamin replied “well, sort of I guess.”“Sort of?” “Look, you don’t know anything about Millennium items do you?” Jamin asked. At this word the man immediately looked down at him, his posture changing abruptly.“What do you know about Millennium items?” The man asked.“Well, not a lot actually,” Jamin replied “only that they were used to defeat some dark power 3050 years ago or something like that.”“And he sent you?” The man raised an eyebrow “a mere child? He must be desperate.”“Nobody sent me,” Jamin replied “I’ve come to stop the people he is sending from getting the Item’s copies.”The old man raised an eyebrow.“What’s your name?” He asked.“Jamin,” Jamin replied.“Y’wot?” The old man fixed him with a curious stare “that’s you name?”“Yeah,” Jamin said “got a problem with it?”“No,” the man answered “it’s just, an odd name that’s all.”“How’s it odd?” Jamin asked.“Well.” The old man turned around and went over to the fire “what’s the rest of your name.”“Tsubasa,” Jamin replied “Jamin Tsubasa.”“Odd name indeed,” the man stroked his chin “must be something to it.”Diablo stared up at the man. “He’s crazy,” he muttered.“Yeah, I noticed that thanks,” Jamin muttered back “listen, we need to know if there’s an item hidden here because…”“It makes it seem as if this’ll be finished completely after this.” The old man muttered to himself “no, impossible.”“Listen damn you!” Jamin yelled. The old man looked around appalled.“Answer the question,” Jamin said, panting.“Only if you answer one of mine,” the old man said “your name, is Jamin Tsubasa, do you know what that means?”“No,” Jamin replied “what does it mean then?”The old man sat down, facing the fire and remained silent for a few moments.“It’s an odd name,” the man said “though it probably has some hidden meaning, that I cannot fathom.”“Go on,” Jamin said.“Your name means ‘The Last Wings’,” the old man said “or ‘The last Feather’.”“What?”“In simpler terms, you’re the last part of something, a story, or a prophecy, I cannot remember.” The man said.“So, Jamin’s the chosen one or something?” Diablo raised a non existent eyebrow, although one of his eyes got notably wider.“Not exactly, he’s merely part of a greater cause,” the man said “but what, I do not know.”“You’re weird,” Jamin said.“I thought as much,” said the man getting up again and turning around “but enough of that…”He bent down and picked something up of the floor, strode around the sofa and slotted the object on.“Let’s duel.” Josh glared over at Kabeshin.“Just sit it out,” he said “where are they?”“I don’t know,” Kabeshin replied “but right now I have no choice, I have the report the situation to the dark one.”He turned to leave but found Kim blocking his way.“You’re not going anywhere,” she said defiantly.Kabeshin turned about to find Josh behind him.“If you want to go, then you take us with you,” he said.“This is crazy,” Kabeshin argued “the dark one will never allow me to take you…”“Take us where?” The red tinge was faintly visible in Josh’s eye again “go on spit it out.”“I…” Kabeshin hesitated “I can’t take you there.”“And why not?” Josh asked, his voice growing angrier.“Because you have no Shadow Power,” Kabeshin replied.Josh’s eyes narrowed “no Shadow Power? I’ll show you shadow power!”“Josh?” Kim ran forwards “oh my…”Josh glared at Kabeshin, a black flame surrounding his body.“You want to taste my Shadow Powers?” He asked.“Josh!” Kim ran towards him, taking his opportunity Kabeshin turned around.Josh pushed past Kim and rugby tackled him, catching his ankles and pulling him to the floor, Josh seemed to calm down, the black flame ceased and his eyes returned to normal.“You know how to find them,” he panted “so find them, and take us to them.”“I can’t,” Kabeshin said “I cannot travel with those not chosen by the dark one.”“In other words you don’t won’t to,” Josh replied.“What? No, I!”Josh got to his feet, slipping his duel disk on, Kim mimicked him.“If we win,” Josh began “you take us to Jamin and Diablo, got it?”Kabeshin got to his feet.“Fine,” he said “this shouldn’t take too long.”“Duel!” “Age before beauty,” the old man said “by the way, my name is Jerova.”“Diablo,” Diablo said, activating his own duel disk.Jamin’s was already out but he activated it and inserted his deck. “How can a blind man duel?” He muttered.“Must have a trick up his sleeve,” Diablo muttered.“I summon Cloudian Turbulence in attack mode!” Jerova said.A hurricane emerged in front of Jerova and spread out to take an almost humanoid shape.“A cloud?” Jamin muttered.“When Turbulence is summoned,” Jerova continued “I can place a fog counter on him for each Cloudian on the field, namely him.”A small puff of smoke appeared, floating around the cloudian.“And now, I can remove the fog counter,” Jerova stated “and special summon Cloudian Smoke Ball in defense mode.”A small yellow cloud appeared next to the first monster, making a small ‘chirrup’ noise as it did so. Jamin stared at it, lost for words.“Is this guy serious?” He thought “maybe he’s been living alone for too long…”“I’ll end with one card face down,” Jerova stated.“My draw,” Jamin said “and I’ll start with Element Doom in attack mode!”Jamin’s vicious gargoyle leapt out of the ground in front of him, leering at Jerova’s monsters.“Then I’ll end my turn,” Jamin said.“So allow me,” Diablo said “I’ll play my Dark World Dealings card, so we all draw one card, but then we have to ditch a card to the graveyard.”Jamin and Jerova drew from their respective decks then selected a card to discard; Diablo did the same but ditched the card he’s just drawn.“Now I summon Sillva, Warlord of Dark World, since he was the monster I discarded, I can now special summon him to the field,” Diablo said.Diablo’s Warlord emerged from the ground in a show of Shadow Magic, eventually emerging to growl down at Jerova’s Cloudian monsters.“We may have a problem,” Jamin muttered.“How do you mean?” Diablo asked.“He’s managed to get two monster on the field in one turn,” Jamin said “and since in a triangle duel we can’t attack right away, he’ll be able to sacrifice them next turn.”“Hm,” Diablo replied “and I don’t like the look of that face down either.”Jerova stared at the two duelists, however unable to see them he could still make out exactly what they were thinking.“These two seem to think they know what I’m planning,” he thought “well, I’ll show them how an old man can duel, even if I am blind.” While this was happening Josh, Kim and Kabeshin had also begun their duel.“My draw!” Josh said “so I’ll summon Rapid Fire Magician in attack mode, now whenever a spell card is activated, you’ll take 400 point of damage.”“As if it matters,” Kabeshin scowled “I draw, and I play this, Goe Goe the Gallant Ninja.”A blue haired ninja rose up in front of Kabeshin, an irritating grin on his face.“Next I play my Fuhma Shuriken,” Kabeshin said “increasing my ninja’s attack strength by 700.”Josh gritted his teeth.“Now attack the Rapid Fire Magician!” Kabeshin ordered.Goe Goe leapt into the air, tossing his Shuriken at Josh and destroying his Rapid Fire Magician, dropping his life points to 3400.“And thanks to my ninja’s effect, you lose two cards from your hand,” Kabeshin stated.Josh scowled and ditched Mythical Beast Cerberus and Lightforce Sword from his hand.“Then I’ll end my turn,” Kabeshin smirked.“I’ll go then,” Kim said “and I sacrifice Whirwind Prodigy to summon Simorgh, Bird of Divinity in attack mode.”Kim little pixie monster vanished, and was replaced by the giant green bird that Diablo had put in her deck, Josh looked up at it calmly as it cast a massive shadow over him.“Not bad,” he muttered.“Now Simorgh, attack his ninja!” Kim ordered “Whirl Wind Blast!”Kim monster flapped its wings, creating a massive hurricane. Goe Goe was caught in the wind and swept up, tossed into the air and then shattered.“Yeah,” Kim said, clenching her fist. Two shuriken fell from where Goe Goe had been, one striking Kim and other striking Josh.“Hey, what the?”“Forgot something?” Kabeshin asked “when Fuhma Shuriken is destroyed, you lose 700 life points.”Josh glared at Kabeshin as his life points dropped to 2700 and Kims to 3300.“I’ll end with two cards face down,” she said “now I’ll end.”Simorgh flapped his wings again, creating another hurricane, Kim’s two face down cards flipped up shield-like to protect her life points, Josh and Kabeshin weren’t so lucky as their life points took 1000 points of damage each, Josh’s dropped to 1700 and Kabeshin’s lowered to 2500. “My draw,” Josh said “I summon Breaker the Magical Warrior in attack mode!”Josh red armoured warrior appeared in front of him, raising his sword defensively.“Now, when he’s summoned I can add one spell counter on him,” Josh explained as the orb on Breaker’s shield lit up with a smaller orb of light “and that raises his attack power to 1900, Breaker attack his life points directly, Arcane Slice!”Breaker ran forwards, striking Kabeshin with his blade, and dropping his life points to 600.“Piece of cake,” Josh smirked.“I don’t think so,” Kabeshin said blankly.“Never mind,” Josh said “I’ll lay two cards face down and end my turn.”Josh smirked.“What’s so funny?” Kabeshin demanded.Josh pointed to Kim’s monster, and then repeated “I end my turn.”Kim’s monster unleashed another hurricane, Josh’s and Kim’s face down cards flipped up to protect them, but Kabeshin wasn’t so lucky, the hurricane hit him head one, wiping out the rest of his life points.“That was easy;” Josh said, deactivating his duel disk “now then, take us to your leader.” “My turn,” Jerova said “so I play my face down, Common Charity, this let’s me draw two cards, but I’ll have to discard another Smoke Ball from my hand.”“That was a waste of worry,” Jamin shot a look at Diablo.“Next I summon Sheep Cloud in defense mode,” Jerova said.A small white puff of smoke formed in front of him, two small eyes showing in it’s misty midst.“Then I’ll play ring of Magnetism,” Jerova explained “meaning you can only attack my Sheep Cloud, meaning you can only attack him. Next I’ll lay two cards face down and end my turn.”“Fine by me,” Jamin said, drawing “Element Doom, attack his Sheep Cloud, Elemental Braid Claw!”Element Doom leapt forwards, slicing the cloud in two.“Yeah!” Jamin grinned. The two separate parts glided away from each other, and each opened a pair of grey eyes just like the last sheep cloud.“Wait, say what?” Jamin looked down at them “I just destroyed them.”“When Sheep Cloud is destroyed,” Jerova began “I can then special summon two Sheep Cloud counters to my side of the field.”“Oh,” Jamin said, looking at his hand “damn it. I end my turn.” “Then I’ll take it from here,” Diablo said “I summon my Mad King of Dark World.”“Oh brother,”Diablo’s insane Monarch rose from the ground, laughing like a lunatic.“Now my Mad King, attack his turbulence,” Diablo ordered.Bromm raised his hand, a black orb formed in it and he threw it at Jerova’s monster. It hit and sent a cloud of smoke and dust, obscuring Jerova’s field.“Now that’s a hit,” Diablo smirked. The smoke cleared, but as it did so Jerova’s monster was still there.“What? I just hit that thing dead on!” Diablo complained.“That you did,” Jerova said “but my monster can’t be destroyed in battle, however my life points still take the hit.”Jerova’s life points dropped to 3500.“Fine,” Diablo said “Bromm’s effect allows me to discard one card from my hand, so since I’ve discarded Scarr, I can now add Zure, knight of Dark World from my deck to my hand, then I’ll end my turn.”“Then it’s my draw,” Jerova said “I play my face down Call of the Haunted to resurrect my Smoke Ball.”Another small, yellow cloud appeared in front of Jerova.“And now,” Jerova said “I have five monsters on my field, so I sacrifice them all, and summon Cloudian – Nimbusman!”All five of Jerova’s monster were sucked into the air, and thrown together, mixing into one giant blue cloud which grew arms and a head, and glared down at Diablo and Jamin.“Big deal,” Diablo said “that thing only has 1000 attack points, it’ll barely scratch us.”Jamin looked up at it.“If he sacrificed five monsters for it, there must be something to it,” he muttered.“You’re right, dear boy,” Jerova said “since I sacrificed five cloudian monsters to summon Nimbusman, he gets five counters, and for each counter he gains 500 extra attack points.“He what?”“Numbusman, attack his Element Doom,” Jerova ordered.Jerova’s monster drew its fist back, turning it into a hurricane and launching it at Element Doom, whipping it up into a vortex and destroying it, reducing Jamin life points to 2000.“He took off half my life points with one attack,” Jamin gasped.“Still think you can out duel an old man?” Jerova asked “I’ll lay one card face down and end my turn.”“We gotta destroy that thing,” Jamin gritted his teeth.“Wrong,” Diablo said “I’ll destroy that thing, and then make off with the item.”Jamin glared at him, Diablo glared back, both staring daggers at each other. TotalObelisk
Episode 16: [spoiler=episode]“What do you mean you can’t take us there?” Josh demanded, shaking Kabeshin by the collar “we just beat you, so you’re gonna take us.”“Face the fact,” Kabeshin argued “not everything is solved by dueling; I couldn’t take you if I wanted to, and even if I did you wouldn’t last five minutes.”“Well see about that,” Josh glowered, raising his fist.“Josh, stop it!” Kim yelled “it’s not his fault.”Josh turned to glare at her.“I’m not giving up that easily,” Josh said “you don’t know, what Jamin’s like on his own.”“Say what?” Kim’s face changed into a bemused expression.“I’ve known him ever since he started dueling,” Josh said “and trust me, if he’s alone with Diablo he might…” He stopped, his fist shaking.“Might what?” Kim asked.“He might lose control,” Josh finished.“What?” Kim looked even more confused “what’s that supposed to mean.”“It means he can’t control his own abilities,” Josh explained “my grandfather brought me up since I was born, teaching me to control it, when I saw him I felt he had a similar level of power, but he was never taught to control it, he’s got nothing to stabilize himself.”“Josh, how can a card game hurt people?” Kim asked.“It’s not the card game that’ll hurt,” Josh said. Jamin looked up at Jerova’s pumped up monster, towering above him.“That thing’s insanely powerful;” he muttered “there’s got to be a way to take it down.”“I’ll take that thing down before you even get close,” Diablo muttered.“We’ll see,” Jamin glowered, drawing a card from his deck “I summon Fox fire in defense mode, and end my turn.”“My draw then!” Diablo said “so I play Gift of the Martyr, allowing me to sacrifice my mad King and give his attack points to my Warlord.”Diablo’s king was reduced to pure energy and then sucked inside Diablo’s warlord, raising his attack power to 4100.“Now let’s see what my beast can do,” Diablo laughed “attack!”Sillva charged forwards, striking Jerova’s monster and cutting his life points down to 2900.“That’s how you do it,” Diablo smirked as much as he could. However Jerova’s monster merely reformed itself till it looked as though no damage had been taken at all.“What!?”“Don’t you know,” Jerova shook a finger “Cloudian monsters can’t be destroyed in battle, you should study more.”Diablo’s eyes narrowed till they were dangerously thin.“By that performance, I’d say it was my move,” Jerova said “so I activate Cloudian Squall, but the effect of this will become apparent later, for now Numbusman will attack Sillva.”The same hurricane-like fist struck Diablo’s monster, destroying it and reducing his life points to 2800.“That’ll be it for my turn,” Jerova said calmly. “My drawn then,” Jamin said, drawing rather forcefully from his deck.“I summon Blazing Hiita in attack mode,” he declared “now Hiita’s effect kicks in, so by sacrificing my Fox Fire, I can now special summon Horus the Black Flame Dragon LV 6 from my hand.”Hiita began chanting, Fox Fire was consumed within a pillar of fire and Jamin’s silver dragon emerged from it gliding just above their heads.“No matter,” Jerova said “his weak attack points are no match for my Numbusman.”“Oh really,” Jamin replied, somewhat angrily “well then try this on for size Horus attack!”Horus fired a stream of black flames at Nimbusman, however Jerova’s monster blocked it with his hurricane punch and sent the attack flying back at Horus, destroying him and reducing Jamin’s life points to 800.“Are you insane?” Diablo yelled over at him.“Probably,” Jamin replied “but who cares, because now I can summon Horus the Black Flame dragon level eight!”A massive flaming cyclone erupted around Jamin; a huge Silver Dragon emerged behind him, glaring at Nimbusman determinedly.“I’ll finish with one card face down,” Jamin stated “and that’s it.”“I’ll go then,” Diablo said forcefully “so I’ll play this, Double Coston in defense mode, then I’ll lay one card face down and end my turn.” “So, tell me one thing you two?” Jerova said.“What?” Jamin narrowed his eyes, somewhat menacingly.“Why do you duel?” Jerova asked them.“Why do we…?” Jamin looked almost insulted at the question “what does that matter to you?”“Just curious,” Jerova shrugged.“I duel because my master needs me too,” Diablo replied, almost laughing.“And you?” Jerova turned to Jamin.“Me?” Jamin glared at Jerova “I duel to become better, to prove that the weak can still defeat anything.”Diablo widened one of his eyes, curiously.Jerova sighed. “Not very good reasons,” he sighed “however…” He pushed his glasses up his nose “probably better than mine.”Jamin raised one of his eyebrows.“I was only young when it happened,” he said “19 years old, seems so long ago now…”“Get on with it,” Jamin snapped.“You see, I was a bully at that age, I used to lure smaller children into traps, laugh at them, and sometimes film them. I laughed at watching other people’s pain, which was my life, until I met him.”“Him?”“I was walking home from another trap I’d set, laughing at the spikey haired kid I’d caught in it,” Jeorva said “but then I heard a voice behind me.”Jamin and Diablo looked over at each other.“‘Do not run, coward’ he said ‘those who have trespassed upon my soul must suffer their punishment’,” Jerova said.Diablo’s eyes widened, however Jamin’s narrowed.“‘Let’s play a game,’ he said,” Jerova continued “he was just a joke, so I accepted, and then he told me it was a Shadow Game.”At this Jamin’s eyes snapped wide open.“It was a simple game,” Jerova said “we just stood there, and watched each other, daring the other to move, if you moved you lost and had to face the punishment. So we played, it grew dark and still we watched each other, neither one wanting to lose, but then I grew angry, I wanted to know why I was playing some dumb game, but if I moved to attack him I’d lose, and I wanted to beat him before I beat him.” However, my anticipation betrayed me, my hands were shaking and I lost, so he punished me, made me blind, I still have no idea how he did it.” “A Shadow Game,” Jamin mused “he wasn’t…”“I knew his name though,” Jerova said “I heard it on the television a few months later, how he’d won the Duelist Kingdom, there I saw my chance for revenge, but in my state I couldn’t duel.” I had only once choice but to go begging for someone to teach me, then a man came into my house, he touched me with something cold and metal and I regained the ability to read my cards, so I set out to defeat Yugi Moto!”“And what happened then?” Jamin asked.“I lost again,” Jerova said “he defeated me the way he defeated everyone else, but he seemed different, he seemed kinder then. He told me not to duel for vengeance, but to duel for faith and honor.” I asked him how, but he must have left, for I never heard an answer. Years later the voice came, asked me to take a replica of the artifact that helped me, to go into hiding and to protect it with my life, there I found honor in my dueling, there I began to win.”“Touching story,” Diablo said “but I’m afraid it ends here.”“Not before my turn is finished,” Jerova said, suddenly alert “and by my honor I shall duel as Yugi told me. Now the effect of my spell card activated, adding one counter to my Nimbusman.”“So you raise his attack points even higher,” Jamin muttered under his breath.“Precisely,” Jerova said “so now I’ll attack Horus the Black Flame Dragon, and that’ll be the end of you!” “That’s what you might think,” Jamin glowered “but I have other plans, so I’ll activate my trap card, Sekeretsu armour!”Nimbusman’s attack collided head on with an invisible force field, forcing him back.“So now, your monster is destroyed,” Jamin said. The filed expanded, throwing Nimbusman’s attack right back at him and destroying him, Jamin merely stood calmly as Jerova’s monster was destroyed by his own attack. Jerova stared up in awe at where his monster used to be.“A timely intervention,” he said “so I’ll just have to finish by playing my Sheep Cloud in defense mode, then laying one card face down and ending my turn.”“Too bad,” Jamin said “that won’t save you. Horus, attack!”Jamin’s dragon let loose another burst of fire, striking the Sheep Cloud and splitting it into two.“I end my turn,” Jamin said. “So, what you’re saying is Jamin has an abnormally high level of duel energy,” Kim said “meaning his spirit powers are so high he can’t control them?”“Exactly,” Josh said “and with Diablo around he’d gonna want to duel like a madman to beat him or get the better of him.”“Wow, harsh,” Kim muttered.Josh shot a look at Kabeshin. “Well?” He demanded “have you made up your mind yet?”“It’s not as simple as that,” Kabeshin said “if I were to transport you there…”“Where is there anyway?” Kim asked “and how do you get there.”Kabeshin sighed and rolled up his sleeve, upon it there was a long black scar that seemed to run the length of his arm.“All of his servants have these,” Kabeshin said “it is our mark, and all we have to do is…”He placed a finger on the end and pushed down, what looked like a spark flew up it, causing it to glow an angry red, Josh grabbed Kim’s wrist and then lunged at Kabeshin, grabbing his shoulder. The scenery seemed to melt away, becoming nothing more than shadow and ripples.“What’s happening?” Kim asked. The scenery seemed to repair itself, however it looked more like they were deep within a cave, the rocks were dark purple and the place was lit with violet crystals illuminating the underground passage.“Where are we?” Kim asked.“This is where we come when we are given orders,” Kabeshin explained “believe me, if you’re discovered here they won’t even bother dueling.”“Pull the other one,” Josh smirked “now, take us to your leader.” “It’s my turn,” Diablo declared “so I sacrifice my Double Coston, in order to summon Reign-Beux, Overlord of Dark World.”Diablo’s most powerful monster emerged from the ground in front of him, brandishing his weapon menacingly.“Reign, attack his sheep cloud counter,” Diablo ordered.Reign raised his weapon, firing a stream of black lightning, and obliterating the first counter.“Give up yet?” Diablo asked.“Not by a long shot,” Jerova said “I have a job to do, and I intend to do it. So I’ll draw, and summon Cloudian Ghost Fog.”A grey cloud of smoke rose in front of Jerova, staring blankly at Jamin and Diablo.“I’ll end with one card face down,” Jerova explained.“Fine then!” Jamin replied “Time to finish you off, Horus attack Ghost Fog!”Horus blasted Ghost Fog with a stream of black fire, dispersing it.“Ah, pity I take no damage from the attack then,” Jerova said “but I’m afraid you now have eight fog counters on your monster.”“What!?”Eight balls of smoke suddenly materialized around Horus, floating around him.“What is this?” Jamin muttered.“Since you possess a level eight monster,” Jerova began “eight fog counters are attached to it.”Jamin turned to glare at him, as Horus tried to take a bite at the hovering balls of smoke, achieving nothing.“I guess I’ll take my turn then,” Diablo said. Kabeshin led them along the passage till he came to a dead end. Josh stopped just behind him and looked around.“Well?” He asked.“Through here,” Kabeshin said “that is the only place in which my master can currently exist.”“Through a solid stone wall?” Kim stared at it “I don’t under…”Josh cut her off: “It’s not solid.”“Huh?”Kim looked at the wall again; it seemed to be rippling slightly, as though it were pure liquid suspended in mid air.“However, you cannot enter,” Kabeshin explained “only those possessing Shadow magic can enter, and you don’t have any.”“What makes you so sure?” Josh asked.“Because my master would have sought out your services long ago if you had,” Kabeshin explained “you cannot go any further.”“To hell with that,” Josh said, striding forwards.“Wait,” Kabeshin said “if you…”Too late. Josh put his hand out and stepped through the wall, his hand went through as though the wall was never there. Kabeshin hesitated, unsure of what to say. Josh grabbed Kim’s arm and pulled her through with him. Inside was nothing but a black void, it was like sitting in a black heart, there were faint traces of walls smeared with dark colours that seemed to be pulsating slightly, and what looked like veins around them.“Where are we?” Kim asked.“This is all that’s left of the Shadow Realm,” Kabeshin explained “over 3000 years ago it was sealed away by the Pharaoh Atemu, however a dark power surfaced briefly a while after he disappeared, and that surge of dark energy managed to open a tear in the imprisonment around the shadow realm, allowing my master to exist again, but only in Spirit.“So he sought out people like me, people with darkness within their hearts, nothing but darkness.”Kim looked back over at Kabeshin, suddenly looking sorry for him.“Well,” Josh strode forwards “where is this master of yours then?” He raised his voice “Oi! Destroyed of worlds! Yeah big-foot, I’m talking to you! Answer me you Disfigured, Dragon bellied fiend!”The pulsating seemed to increase; Josh looked ahead of him expecting Zorc to appear. However five pillars of mist suddenly sprang from the floor in front of them and five men in dark cloaks appeared before them. Josh took a step back, drawing his duel disk.“Intruder, you dare to walk on our hallowed ground,” the middle figure spoke “we will not give you a chance to live.”“Oh, I think you will,” Josh said. Each of the five figures revealed a duel disk each and all three placed a monster on it. Five large, fiend or zombie monster emerged from the ground in front of them, each one more gruesome that the last one.“You think that scares me?” Josh laughed “I draw six cards, but I’ll also play my card of demise, allowing me to draw another five.”“Ten cards in one hand?” Kim muttered.“Now I’ll summon Apprentice Magician in attack mode,” Josh explained “but why stop there, when I can play Magical Dimension, allowing me to special summon my Dark Magician.”The five duelists suddenly looked nervous.“And I’m not done yet,” Josh said “Because now I sacrifice my Dark Magician for the Dark Eradicator Warlock!”Josh’s Dark Magician evolved into a blood red magician with a large black staff.“Now, whenever a spell card activates, you lose 1000 life points,” Josh explained “so I’ll play my Pot of Greed to start off with!”Dark Eradicator Warlock raised his staff, firing five lightning bolts from it, each one striking one of the duelists.“Next I’ll play Rush Recklessly,” Josh said “Raising my Warlocks attack power by 700, but also giving you another 1000 points of damage.”Dark Eradicator Warlock repeated the process, striking each one of Zorc’s guards directly, dropping their life points to 2000.“Finally I’ll play Diffusion Wave Motion!” Josh declared “so not only do your life points get zapped for another 1000, all your monsters go boom!”Josh’s monster raised his staff one more time and fired five rings of pure energy, each one striking a monster and destroying it, he finished off with a massive Shockwave that struck all five of the duelists and depleted their life points to zero, and they vanished into mist again as the wave hit them. Josh deactivated his duel disk and let his arm drop.“Wouldn’t last five minutes you said,” he shot an accusing look at Kabeshin who merely looked shocked.“Wow,” Kim said under her breath.“Lead on,” Josh glared at Kabeshin. “Zure, attack,” Diablo ordered.“I’ll activate my trap card,” Jerova said “Negate attack, so now I’m afraid you’ll have to wait in the side-lines for now.”Diablo’s glared at Jerova vengefully, before ending his turn.“I’ll go then,” Jerova said “so I’ll play Pot of Greed, allowing me to draw two cards, next I’ll activate the Shallow Grave spell, allowing all of us to special summon one monster from our graveyards in face down defense position.”Jerova selected a monster from his graveyard and placed it on his field in defense mode, Jamin and Diablo mimicked him, both having selected a monster.“So what happens now?” Jamin asked.“Simple,” Jerova said “now that I have two monsters on my field, I can sacrifice them to summon Eye of the Storm!”Jerova’s two monsters were swept up in a hurricane, and a dark grey cloud formed within it, larger and bulkier than any of Jerova’s other monsters.“What the!?” Diablo stared up at the thing.“This is gonna hurt,” Jamin muttered.“Unfortunatly when he attacks, all monsters change battle position,” Jerova said “oh well, attack Zure, knight of Dark World,” Jerova ordered.Jerova’s monster glided forwards and literally swallowed Diablo’s monster whole, and thus destroying him.“Hey!” Diablo glared up at Jerova.“I’ll end with one card face down,” Jerova said “and then I’ll end my turn.” “Very well then” Jamin drew “I switch Horus back into attack mode, and then I’ll summon Hiita the fire charmer in attack mode.”Jamin’s red haired sorceress appeared in a spiral of flames in front of him.“Next, I’ll flip my Fox Fire into face up attack position, since he was revived with Shallow Grave,” Jamin continued “and finally I’ll sacrifice them, and summon Familiar Possessed Hiita!” Jamin declared.Jerova looked almost disappointed by this move.“Is that all you have?” He asked “I am disappointed.”“I’ll lay one card face down, and end,” Jamin said.“Are you trying to lose!?” Diablo yelled at Jamin “Hiita’s got way to low points to take down that thing.”“You can do better?” Jamin shot a look at him.“I can and I will,” Diablo said “it’s my turn, so I play my cheerful coffin, allowing me to discard Kahkki, Guerilla of Dark World, which means your monster is now destroyed.”A look of surprise showed on Jerova’s face as his monster exploded.“They might not be able to be destroyed by battle,” Diablo smirked “but they sure fall easy against cards effects.” Josh continued to walk ahead of Kabeshin and Kim, even though Kabeshin was the only one who knew where they were going.“Josh, if you’re not careful you’re going to get us lost,” Kim said “please, slow down.”“No,” Josh said defiantly “I’ve got a bone to pick with a certain Dark Master, so if you don’t mind.”“What are you going to do when you find him?” Kabeshin asked.“Duel him of course,” Josh replied.“Josh, when he dueled you last time he slaughtered you,” Kim reminded him.Josh stopped, his hand balled into a fist and he turned round to glare at Kim.“And you can do better can you?” He asked “I’m not going to wait around for him to show up and destroy the world, I’m going to face him on his own turf and beat him, that way I’ll avenge my grandfather!”“But Josh,” Kim said.Josh ignored her and carried on the way he was going.“He’s mental,” Kabeshin sighed “there’s nobody who can defeat my master, he created the Shadow Realm, and he knows all of its secrets.”Kim looked over at him.“Why do you follow him?” She asked.Kabeshin hung his head: “Because,” he began “because he made me a promise.”“What sort of promise?”Kabeshin looked at her, a serious look showing in his face.“He promised me that he’d bring my Sister back to life,” he said.“Back to life?” Kim repeated.Kabeshin nodded. “She was killed, three years ago,” he explained “I don’t know how, I just found her dead.”“How did she die?” Kim asked.“Her soul had been destroyed,” Kabeshin explained “literally destroyed, so Zorc told me to gather the Millennium Items for him, and he’d guide me to the person who killed her so that I could exact my revenge.”“That’s not the way to go about it at all,” Kim said quietly.“Huh?” Kabeshin looked over at her.“If somebody you love dies, you don’t become evil just because of that,” Kim said “that’s not what they’d want of you. You must understand, just because someone killed someone you love, that’s no reason to kill them in return.”“What do you know about it?” Kabeshin retorted.“More than you,” Kim shot an angry look at him “my mother way killed, and you don’t see me descending into Shadows because of it.”Kabeshin looked startled, suddenly at a loss for what to say.“Your mother?”Kim nodded. “I told her not to worry about me, but she still did,” Kim said “she’s still worried for me now, I can feel it.”“The dead can’t come back to life,” Kabeshin said.“I never said she had,” Kim said. “Oi!” Josh called back to them “are you two dating or something? Get a move on!”“Huh? Oh, sorry,” Kim hurried to catch up with Josh.Kabeshin however merely stood still, thinking about what Kim had said.“If somebody you love dies, you don’t become evil just because of that, that’s not what they’d want of you,”Kabeshin clenched one hand into a fist, a tear running down one cheek.“Hey! You growing roots or something?” Josh called back.Kabeshin looked up and followed. “Still think you’re a match for us?” Diablo laughed at Jerova “you can’t duel to save your life; in fact I don’t even think you can read your cards at all, it’s just a trick.”“It’s no trick,” Jerova answered “I was given this task and I will complete it no matter what!”“You’re nothing but talk,” Diablo sneered “face it, you’re about to lose this duel.”“I don’t think so!” Jerova said “your ignorance is blinding you Diablo, there is still a way for me to win, and it will come with the next card I draw.”“Pull the other one,” Diablo laughed.Jerova drew violently.“I play the effect of Cloudian Squall, since you both have monsters, they both gain a fog counter,” Jerova explained.Another ball of fog materialized around Jamin’s already agitated dragon.“This is beginning to annoy me!” Jamin said.“Don’t worry,” Jerova said “it’ll be over, soon. I play card of demise, allowing me to draw five cards.”“This is getting repetitive,” Jamin said in the same angry tone.“Be patient,” Jerova said “because now I play Swing of memories, allowing me to special summon a smoke ball from my graveyard.”Jerova’s small cream puff appeared on the field with a small pop.“Next, I activate the spell card Triangle Power, giving my smoke ball an extra 2000 attack points, now my monster attack Familiar Possessed Hiita!”Jerova’s monster swallowed and fired a stream of mist at Hiita, destroying her and dropping Jamin life points even lower.“Are you done yet?” Jamin asked, irritated.“No, at the end of my turn my monster is destroyed,” Jerova explained as his smoke cloud went pop “I’ll end with two cards face down.”“Excellent,” Jamin said “time to finish you odd, my draw!”Jamin drew a new card from his deck and placed it in his hand.“Face it old man,” he said “its’ over, Horus attack him directly with Dark Fire Destruction!”Diablo glared up at Jamin’s monster as it rose to the ceiling and fired a stream of black fire at Jamin.“Sorry, but I have face downs,” Jerova reminded him “so I play Negate attack, and Ascending air current.”“Huh?”Horus’ attack vanished into an invisible wall, rippling out in front of Jerova.“Now for Ascending Air Current to activate,” Jerova said. The fog counters around Jamin’s and Diablo’s monsters were suddenly sucked towards the card Jerova had just flipped up.“The effect of Ascending Air Current,” Jerova said “Is to take all fog counters on the field and destroy them, but then it takes 300 points off you for each one taken.”“What!” Jamin glared at Jerova “how many?”“I think there were ten,” Diablo said “so that’s 3000 points of damage each.”“We don’t have that much left,” Jamin reminded him.“I know,” Diablo said “if you hadn’t been so stupid, I’d have got us out of this mess before now!”Jamin turned to glare at Diablo, anger showing clearly in his face.“I’ll show you, how to get out of this mess!” He retorted violently. Josh stumbled, clutching his head.“What’s wrong?” Kim asked.“Too late,” Josh said “he’s lost it.”“What?”“We’ve got to find Jamin,” Josh said “if he’s not careful he might end up killing somebody.”“Say what?” “Ascending Air Current,” Jerova said “destroy them.”A blast of air rushed from Jerova’s trap card with enough force to blow down at house, Jamin turned to face the oncoming blast.“Come and get me!” He said, pressing a button on the back of his duel disk. TotalObelisk
Part 17 [spoiler=episode]Jamin turned about, pressing the switch on the back on his duel disk.“I play my face down card,” he said “Spell of Pain.”The blast from Jerova’s trap card seemed to collide with an invisible bubble, surrounding Jamin.“What’s this?” Jerova said aghast “what’s happening?”“Glad you asked,” Jamin said “my spell card negates the damage inflicted to me, and throws it back at you instead!”“What!?”The blast seemed to be absorbed into Jamin’s defensive bubble, and was then shot straight back at Jerova, striking him right in the chest and throwing him backwards into the large rock pillar, it smashed as he was thrown through it, bits of the ceiling fell down and the floor cracked. However the chaos ended quickly, Diablo was staring wide eyed at where Jerova had landed spread eagled. Jamin strode forwards; the smashed pillar had revealed a shining gold Egyptian key standing it the rubble.“Jamin,” Diablo said faintly.Jamin grabbed the Millennium key and pulled it out of the rock it was imbedded in.“Jamin,” Diablo repeated.“Hm?” Jamin looked back up, his expression returning to normal “what is it?”“You killed him,” Diablo said.“I-What!?” Jamin looked down at Jerova’s body, shock cascading down his face “I did…I killed him?”Diablo’s eyes narrowed.“And you call me evil,” Diablo said “I can’t believe you’d do something like that.”“Neither did I,” Jamin replied. He looked down at the key as it began to glow; Diablo glided forwards and waved his shadowy hand over it.“You’re not getting away from me, murderer!” He yelled. The key enveloped them both in bright light and they vanished on the spot. Josh got to his feet, rubbing his temple.“Too late,” he muttered.“Josh, what happened?” Kim asked.“As I just said,” Josh said “Jamin lost control of himself, and ended up destroying more than he intended.”“How is that possible?” Kim asked.“Jamin doesn’t know how to control his level of spirit power,” Josh explained “fortunately I have enough to stabilize it for him.”“I’m getting none of this,” Kim said.“Never mind,” Josh turned about “we’re here for one thing and one thing only…”He stepped forwards, but as soon as his foot landed, a chill spread throughout his body.“W-what the?” He grabbed his chest, shivering “Kabeshin, what it this?”Kabeshin ran forwards, the shock of the sudden experience however forced him to his knees.“I don’t know,” he gasped “it must be some sort of…”“Guys?” Kim looked down at them “what’s wrong?”“Some sort of field,” Josh said through gritted teeth “to cold to move on.”“What are you talking about?” Kim said, striding past them without any form of attack “there’s nothing there.”Josh looked up at her.“How did you?” He suddenly realized that the cold had vanished from his body, and he stood up straight.“What was that?” He asked aloud.“Some sort of defense, I think,” Kabeshin said “I’m not really sure.”“Well we’d best keep going,” Josh said “the sooner we can find Jamin the better.”“What’s so dangerous about him?” Kabeshin asked.“You have no idea,” Josh muttered. Jamin opened his eyes and blinked at the sudden light, he was lying in an open field with a faint breeze sweeping across the grass, and the millennium key was still clutched tight in his hand.“What did I do?” He muttered. He shut his eyes again. When he opened them again he was standing in a long steel corridor, he looked about him and noticed a door to his left, he walked up to it and pushed it open, revealing a maze before him.“Where am I?” He muttered.“This is what we call the realm of your mind,”“Huh?”Jamin looked about, but there was nobody there.“You’re looking in the wrong place,” the voice said, it sounded familiar.“Who are you?” Jamin asked “where are you?”“I’m not technically anywhere,” the voice replied “your mind is not a physical world, but it exists.”“Who are you?” Jamin repeated.A shadow moved along the ground beneath him, he looked about and saw it enter the maze. He gritted his teeth and chased after it.“I hope this maze isn’t like the last one,” he muttered as he ran.He barely caught the shadow as it swerved around a corner; he closed in on it and found himself at the centre.“That was quick,” he muttered. The shadow seemed to have vanished, instead there was a figure standing there in front of a large yellow orb floating in front of him.“Hey,” Jamin walked up to him.The figure turned about, Jamin stopped immediately, a look of shock on his face.“Y-y-you are…”“You,” the figure replied. They were almost identical, only the new Jamin had darker skin and shorter hair. He wore sand coloured clothes and a dark brown jacket over the top.“You’re me?” Jamin repeated. The other Jamin nodded. “Yeah,” he said “or to be precise, I’m your past, and future.”“What?” Jamin’s expression turned to confusion.“Less of that,” Jamin two said “I’ve been woken up early for one purpose, to warn you.”“Warn me?”Jamin nodded.“Yes, you need to learn to control your spirit power,” he said “look here.”Jamin looked up at the orb.“That is your mental energy,” Jamin explained “big isn’t it?”“Yeah,” Jamin said “but why? Why me?”“Follow me,” Jamin said.“I’ve kinda got a Millennium rod to find you know!” Jamin called after Jamin “and an eye two, and don’t forget the puzzle.”“Don’t worry,” Jamin said “you’ll find them eventually.”“How eventually?” Jamin asked.“Just follow me,” Jamin said. They left the maze and went back into the steel corridor, the leading Jamin crossed straight over and pushed open a new door on the other side, Jamin followed him but saw nothing but black.“What’s the point of this?” Jamin asked.“It’s complicated,” Jamin said “you need to open your mind.”“But this is my mind,” Jamin said.“Then it’ll be that easier to open,” Jamin said.Jamin sighed and closed his eyes, relaxing his thought. He heard the sound of something smashing and felt the ground shift beneath him.“Wait, what the?” The ground beneath him collapsed suddenly. Jamin woke up, sweating. The Key in his hand was glowing slightly.“Was that a dream?” He muttered. He sat up and looked about.“Wait a minute,” he muttered “where’s Diablo?”He jumped to his feet and dashed in the first direction that came into his head.“Okay,” he thought “since the key transported us here, there ought to be a millennium item around here.”He looked down at the key; it didn’t seem to be doing anything more than glowing softly in his hand. Jamin held it out and panned it around the landscape.“Work damn you,” he muttered “oh for the love of.”He drew his arm back, considering hurtling it away when the sky suddenly became dark and a thunder clap sounded nearby.“What the?” Jamin looked around, searching for another person “who’s there.”“Jamin!”Jamin looked round and saw the goddess standing behind hum, towering into the sky, Jamin stumbled backwards, falling over onto his back.“What…?”“You did not heed my warning,” the goddess said “I told you there was a duelist before you, corrupt by the powers gifted to him, if you continue as you are, you will go the same way as him.”“This duelist,” Jamin said “who is he.”“He is already someone you know,” the goddess said “a person you have befriended.”Jamin thought for a moment, nobody he knew seemed corrupted or evil right now.“How do I…”“He may seem harmless,” the goddess said “but he is hiding himself where you’d never expect him to be.”“Well thanks for the warning,” Jamin sighed, getting up.The goddess vanished as soon as he looked back up at her and the sky cleared.“Okay, I get the message,” Jamin muttered “don’t go psycho, got it.”He looked about at the scenery again.“Damn, where the heck am I!” Josh clenched and unclenched his hand, wondering what the strange barrier was just then.“Oh well, best get moving,” he muttered “How much farther do we need to go?”“It depends,” Kabeshin answered.“On what?” Kim asked.“On what mood he’s in,” Kabeshin replied.“Huh?”“He’s watching us,” Kabeshin explained “and he can see our every movement, he will meet us when he wants to.”“Is that so,” Josh said.He looked around, gazing in random locations.“Well if you can see us!” He yelled “then you can hear us too! Or at least lip read of something like that!”“Josh?”Josh ignored her and carried on ranting at the air.“Well? Come on then, or are you a coward?” He continued “the destroyer of worlds is it? Or is that a mis-translation? Perhaps you’re just the hider in holes, the cowardly girl, if you’re not a coward then come here, and fight me!” Josh demanded. His voice echoed through the void and the three of them stood there, perfectly still and waiting for an answer. After a long pause the sound of deep laughing could be heard.“I admire your courage, young one,” Zorc laughed “but I’m afraid in my world, I call the shots.”“Just come down here,” Josh said dangerously “and give back the souls you’ve taken!”“Why would I want to do that?” Zorc laughed “all I need now are the seven items and I’ll be free, the captured souls should inject the replicas with magic enough to free me from my bonds, speaking of which.”A light shone from Josh’s backpack, and the Millennium Scales floated out into mid air, and were seized by a pitch black hand.“No!” Josh dived for it but the hand and scales, vanished as though they were smoke.“One down,” Zorc laughed “and from what I gather, Diablo is trying to gather all the rest before returning to me, even betraying his own to fulfill his task. I chose him well.”“You…You….You….Retard!” Kim yelled.“I thought I told you,” Zorc said “you’re in my world.”A wave of blackness suddenly engulfed them, blocking out all means of vision and light.“Kim?” Josh called.“I’m fine,” Kim replied “what happened.”“You made him mad,” Kabeshin explained.“To heck with ‘him’!” Josh yelled “call him by his name damnit!”Josh lunged forwards, his hand seizing something fleshy and squeezing hard.“Well!” Josh demanded.“I-I cannot,” Kabeshin gasped.“Josh? What are you doing?” Kim asked.“You got us into this mess,” Josh said “you brought us here on purpose, didn’t you? So that he could take my Millennium Scales!”“No!” Kabeshin chocked “I tried to warn you.”Kabeshin made a few gargling sounds and tried to pull Josh off him.“Josh, whatever you’re doing stop it!” Kim said.“Listen to me,” Kabeshin asked “if you want to get out of here alive, and find your friend, you’re gonna have to trust me.”“And what happened the last two times we trusted you?” Josh demanded “you lost us our only items and sent Jamin to God knows where!”Kabeshin chocked again.“Josh stop!” Kim said.Josh squeezed one more time and threw Kabeshin to the ground, blinking the blackness out of his eyes.“Kim,” he said.“Yeah?” Kim answered nervously.“We’re leaving,” Josh said, reaching out and grabbing her arm.“How?” Kim asked.“Just follow me,” Josh replied.“Josh?” Kim said.“Hm?”“Did, did you kill him?” Kim asked.Josh paused for a moment, tightening his grip on Kim’s arm.“Probably,” he replied. Jamin sighed, and sat back down on the grass, no closer to finding the next item or Diablo.“Come on,” he muttered “how hard is it to find one Millennium item?”He looked at the key in his hand and scoffed, he tossed it half heartedly over his shoulder, it landed with a soft thud in the mud.“Don’t know why I agreed to this in the first place,” he muttered “and where the hell is Diablo?”He looked about again, hoping to see a shadow float across the scenery ahead of him, but none came.“Damn, some Christmas holiday this turned out to be,” he sighed. The Key, slightly imbedded it mud began to shake, growing more violent with each passing second; eventually it began to make a discernable noise. Jamin looked round at it; it began to glow again, getting slowly brighter and brighter.“Whoa?” He picked it up, and it shook in his hands “it must be reacting to something,” he muttered “but to what?”“Possibly, this.”Jamin turned around and saw Diablo behind him, however his eyes were becoming purple and he was less human and more ghost.“What the…? Diablo?”“That’s me,” Diablo said, casually tossing the Millennium Eye like a tennis ball “of course, that name’s old now.”“Huh?”“Chris is long gone,” Diablo muttered “and now Diablo’s followed, I am the ultimate Shadow Mage, thus you may call me Shadowcaster!” The wind picked up slightly, blowing the grass in rippled and causing a few leaves to blow across them. Jamin merely stood there, looking bemused.“Shadowcaster?”“Yes,”“You picked that name, out of all the evil sounding names you could think of?” Jamin replied “oh my god, you think that sounds cool? That’s worse than the random name generator on Seventh Sanctum, and you didn’t even consider ‘Ming’, I mean what’s with you, awesome Shadow powers and you name yourself with something that makes you sound like a discarded object on a sunny day, oh my god you are so, so……Retarded!”One of Diablo’s eyes twitched menacingly.“You’re playing with fire, you do know that,” he warned “thanks to these new items, I am more powerful that you’ll ever be, observe!”He held up the millennium eye, it glowed and seemed to be sucked into his shadows form, staining his eyes an even darker shade of purple than before, and coming to rest in his head.“You see?” Shadowcaster laughed, his voice also changing “I am no longer the cocky duelist you met all those months ago, I have evolved and I have you and your gods to thank for it.”“Okay pal,” Jamin muttered “you just messed with the wrong guy.”He activated his duel disk and held it out as the field extended.“Let’s duel!” Shadowcaster laughed.“That’s getting a bit old,” he said.“Huh?” Jamin looked up at him “how do you mean?”“Dueling, is not the only way to solve things,” Diablo said “let’s try something different let’s say we have a ‘Shadow Game!’”“Huh?”A sudden haze whipped across the land, transforming everything into dark colours and creating an eerie atmosphere where everything seemed ten times similar than before.“You can’t!” Jamin said “Atemu sealed away the shadow games, for good!”“I can do whatever I like!” Shadowcaster laughed “because my magic is ten times what his was, I can unleash the shadow games whenever I like, I can defeat Zorc himself, I am God!”“Fine,” Jamin said “let’s play.”“You shouldn’t be so quick to accept,” Shadowcaster laughed “after all, you don’t know the rules.”“Well then explain them to me,” Jamin said. “Very well,” Shadowcaster said “in simpler terms, it’s merely a straight out fight between us.”“Fine then,” Jamin said, discarding his duel disk and raising his fists.“But there’s a catch,” Shadowcaster said “we are allowed one weapon, that is the item we have both just received.”Jamin looked down at the key in his hand. “Some weapon,” he muttered.“I of course, will be using the Millennium Eye,” Shadowcaster said. The eyes flowed down, through his shoulder to the end of his arm, where it pointed out from his palm.“Ready?” He said “game start.”Shadowcaster raised his palm immediately, and a blast of red light shot from the eye, Jamin threw himself aside as the beam impacted on the ground, sending debris flying in all directions.”“Hey, no fair!” He said.“Life’s never fair!” Shadowcaster laughed “now die!”He fired again, Jamin ducked and the beam exploded behind him.“How the hell do I fight this guy with a key?” He thought to himself.“Focus,” his older half told him “release your energy into that item.”“Huh?”“Do it!”Jamin raised the key, gripping the loop that formed the head.“Diablo, or Shadowcaster, whoever you are,” he said “prepare to feel my wrath.”A sudden burst of light issued from Jamin’s hand, engulfing the Key, Shadowcaster moved back, gazing wide eyes at the spectacle as the millennium key suddenly grew and shifted. Jamin got to his feet, grabbing the handle with his other hand and bringing the item down before raising it up again, pointing at Shadowcaster.“So,” he said “how do you like my Millennium Sword?”The key had grown and flattened, till it had become a blade, the guard had formed into the eyes of Horus, or the Shadow Games symbol portrayed on most of the items. “Impressive,” Shadowcaster muttered “but can you actually use it?”“Use it?” Jamin said “I’ve already used it!”“What?” Shadowcaster scoffed, moving forwards, he then realized that the Millennium Necklace was spinning on the end of the sword “What the!? How!?”“Hard to explain,” Jamin said, retrieving the necklace “but I think Kim’ll be wanting this back.” “You reformed an item all by yourself,” Shadowcaster said “impressive, but is it as powerful as the Millennium items themselves?”“We’ll see,” Jamin said.“Well, it’s time for me to shed some light on my powers,” Shadowcaster said “so take this!”Shadowcaster shot another blast at Jamin; this time however, Jamin raised his sword. The beam hit the blade and bounced off, striking Shadowcaster’s chest and punching through to the Millennium Ring and blasting it out.“No!” He yelled “not my!”“Bingo!” Jamin sneered. He rushed forwards and took a swipe at Shadowcaster, the eye spun out of Shadowcaster’s hand and landed with a thud in the mud nearby.“So,” Jamin said “do I win?”Shadowcaster glared down at him; despite his featureless face it was clear that he was madder than ever.“I never said victory was decided by disarming,” he spat “this is a shadow game, Jamin, this is a fight for our souls.”“Huh?”Shadowcaster raised his arm, and his three items suddenly flew back into him, retaking their positions.“Now die!” He yelled and fired another beam of light at Jamin.Jamin raised his sword just in time to deflect the beam and send it slamming into the ground.“You’re nothing but a sore loser!” Jamin replied “you can’t win to save what’s left of your life!”“Shut up!” Shadowcaster yelled.“That time you forced me to duel against Kim, couldn’t duel me yourself could you?” Jamin went on ducking another blast “and before that, used my friends against me just so I wouldn’t attack you.”“I said shut up!” Shadowcaster yelled.“Face it!” Jamin yelled over him, his pupils dilating rapidly “you’re nothing!”“Silence!”Shadowcaster fired another blast under Jamin’s guard and hit him in the stomach, sending him flying backwards and causing him to drop the sword, it morphed back into a key as it hit the ground.“You dare insult me?” He spat. “You’re quick,” Jamin muttered, getting to his feet.Shadowcaster gave him another glare then swooped down to grab the key.“No!”Shadowcaster’s wraith-like hand closed over the handle and the usual blinding flash exploded from the eye still imbedded within Shadowcaster. Jamin dived forwards, missing Shadowcaster and hitting the ground hard.“Get back here you cheating coward!” He yelled.Despite his yelling Shadowcaster seemed to have vanished for good.“Damn,” Jamin thumped the air in frustration “what now?”The deck box on his belt began glowing, he looked about and opened it, a single card flew out and into his hand.“Inter-dimensional matter transporter?” He read “well, guess it’s worth a try.”He slipped on his duel disk and activated it, inserting that card into the magic card zone.“Trap card activate!” He declared. The trap opened in front of him, transforming into an odd machine floating in the air. Jamin walked up to it and grabbed it without thinking; it vanished without warning and took Jamin with it. Josh blinked as they came to the exit of the cave, the sudden light almost blinding him. Kim looked around and saw the cave dissolve behind them and the scenery seemed to melt back into the desert.“I see,” Josh muttered “must have been an illusion; I knew it was a trap.”“What about Kabeshin?” Kim asked.“Forget about him,” Josh said “we don’t need him anymore.”He turned about and began to wander off through the sand.“Hey, where are you going?” Kim called after him.“To the only item I know where to find,” Josh said “the millennium puzzle.”“I thought these things were being guarded,” Kim asked.“Not the puzzle,” Josh said “that’s got enough guards on it already.”“I don’t understand,” Kim muttered.“Come on,” Josh said.“We’ve been here the whole time though,” Kim said “don’t you think we would have found it?”Josh stopped and Kim bumped into him.“Listen, my grandfather told me a lot of garbage when I was a kid,” Josh said “so I didn’t believe him, but he did tell me this.”He turned about and glared at Kim.“He told me that the deadliest of items is hidden in the most obvious place,” he finished.“Huh? How does that work?” Kim asked.“For such an obvious hiding place, don’t you think it might be overlooked?” Josh said.“Well yeah, but don’t you think the bad guys might have thought of it?” Kim asked.“That’s the point,” Josh said “people like Zorc or his servants think they know how humans think, that’s why they use Duel Monsters as a weapon.”“So where is this Rod hidden?” Kim asked.“Do you really need to ask,” Josh gave a sigh “in the home of the tome keepers.”“The what?”“Just follow me,” Josh said.He turned about again and carried on walking. The sun was beginning to go down, resulting in an orange hue being cast over the desert, Josh and Kim. As they walked the landscape became less sandy and rockier, until Josh spied a small ruin not too far off.“Just where he said it’d be,” he muttered. He wandered over to the ruins and stared at a blank area of sand.“What are you doing?” Kim asked “gee Josh, you’re seriously weird. We should be looking for Jamin not hunting around after…”Josh banged his heal on the ground, a hollow knock sounded.“Huh?” Kim stopped.“Open up,” Josh said “we’ve been sent by Horakhti, the Creator of Light to protect the connection between the millennium items and their replicas.”“Josh, who’s Horakhti?” Kim asked.“The goddess we dueled,” Josh replied.“N-no way?”The sand lifted up and was tilted back by a wooden trap door creaking open at the sound of Josh’s voice. An old man was currently ascending the steps as it opened.“What is your business here?” He asked.“Didn’t I just state it?” Josh asked “Or are you deaf?”“Not a very respectful young man are you?” The man scoffed.“You wouldn’t be too if you discovered the fairy stories you denied were true,” Josh said “now take us to the millennium rod.”The old man looked up at him, his hair looked untamed and was creamy white, his eyes however were deep brown.“How do I know you will not just take the rod to your master?” The man retorted.“Because of this,” Josh replied, taking one card from his deck and showing it to him “is this a card that will likely be played by one of Zorc’s servants?”The man took a step back: “Follow me,” he said.Josh put the card away and followed the man down the steps.“This had better be right,” he muttered.“Josh,” Kim asked “what’s wrong.”“He gave no question to the card I drew,” Josh muttered thoughtfully “I wonder.”“What’s wrong?”“No, it’s impossible,”“Josh, speak to me damnit!” Kim yelled.“Shut it!”The man stopped and turned around.“Is there a problem?” He asked.“Tell me something,” Josh asked “what is the name of the Pharaoh?”“What?”“What is his name?” Josh repeated.“The task of the tomb keepers finished 50 years ago,” the old man said “there is no need for us to remember the pharaoh anymore.”“Yes, but then you’re old enough to have been around at that time,” Josh said “further more, I haven’t seen anybody else in these caverns.”“What are you saying,” the old man asked.“You’re illusion is petty!” Josh called out to thin air “Marik had violet eyes.”At these words a wind swept through the cavern, and seemed to take the old man with it, as though he were mere dust.“Josh?”“How clever,” Shadowcaster cat-called “but like it or not, you’ve stumbled into my trap, like a good little maggot.”“What now?” Josh called.“Enjoy your new home,” Shadowcaster’s voice rang again.A slam sounded as the trap door slammed shut.“You said he might not know where it is!” Kim yelled at Josh.“If he managed to retrieve the last item, then it may have led him here,” Josh muttered.“What now?” Kim asked.“We wait,” Josh said.“Huh?”“We just wait,” Josh said “I’m certain Jamin knows where the puzzle is. If he can get to it in time then…”“Josh?”“Hm?”“Is there something wrong? You seem…” Kim faltered“Yes?”“Nothing,” Kim finished.“But how do we get out of here?”“Oh, just you watch,” Josh muttered.
TotalObelisk
Episode 18: [spoiler=episode]Jamin opened his eyes, he expected to be lying on the ground somewhere or other but he wasn’t, looking about him he saw he was in some sort of void. There was nothing but black all about him, and no sign of any other life, it was also bitterly cold.“Hello!” Jamin called out.No answer. He looked around again at the black void, still with the same result.“Usually at this point some spirit thing pops out of nowhere and speaks to me,” Jamin muttered “so evidentially something like that might happen now.”He waited where he was, floating through an infinite blackness. “Heeargh!”Josh’s shoulder slammed into the trap door but it didn’t give. He staggered down the steps before taking another charge.“Josh it’s not working,” Kim said.“It’ll break eventually,” Josh reassured her “defiantly.”Kim gave Josh a worried glance before she turned away again, wandering down the steps.“Maybe there’s another way out,” she suggested “somewhere Diablo wouldn’t think of looking.”“Come off it,” Josh said “I know this place better than you, my granddad told me the stories of the Pharaoh, remember?”“Yes, but I’m not sure even he knew everything,” Kim replied “come on Josh, you’re going to break your shoulder doing that!”Josh sighed and sat down on the steps, facing Kim.“Sorry,” he said “I’ve just been getting frustrated lately.”“Josh,” Kim moved closer to him “are you sure you’re not, possessed or something?”Josh gave her a quizzical look.“If I were possessed my eyes would go blank,” he explained “and I wouldn’t speak like I am now.”“S-sorry,” Kim muttered.Josh looked up at her and sighed.“It’s nothing,” he said “it’s just that I’ve lived with my granddad all my life, growing up hearing all these stories about magic monsters and ancient Egyptian mages and stuff like that, and I never believed it. Now it may as well be dancing in my face.”He sighed and looked down. “It’s no big deal really,” he said “its just that as a kid I found it kinda hard to make friends, after all I was the guy who lived with his half crazy granddad, nobody was going to want to make friends with me.” He paused for breath and looked up at Kim “Another thing, even in grade school and middle school I was always top in my class at dueling, eventually nobody wanted to play with me because I’d always cream them.”Kim looked up at Josh with a look of pity on her face.“I’m not asking you to feel sorry for me,” Josh pointed out.“S-sorry,” Kim said.“Anyway, it all changed one I met Jamin,” Josh went on.“Why? What happened?” Kim asked.“He wouldn’t quit,” Josh smirked “no matter how many times he lost to me he’s come back, making his deck better and better.” Josh smirked and gave a slight laugh “he’s still trying to beat me up to today, he’s never succeeded.”He tilted his head back, staring at the ceiling.“And right now we’re relying on him to defeat an evil spirit I couldn’t even beat,” he muttered “well, fates not always spot on.” Kim gave a weak smile.“Guess Jamin really turned your life around, huh?” She said.“Yeah, it’s kind of like an equal balance,” Josh commented “he keeps me happy whilst I keep him happy. Guess that’s why we stick together so well.”“Best friends for life, huh?” Kim giggled.“That’s a girls’ idea,” Josh replied.“Yeah, but I think this one’s true,” she commented.“Maybe,” Josh muttered “if the world doesn’t end.” “Hey, anybody there!” Jamin called out “geez, come on!”Still the black void yielded nothing to him.“Hm, looks like I’ll have to find a way out of here by myself,” Jamin muttered. He reached into his deck box again and pulled out a random card.“It worked last time,” he muttered. He placed the card on his duel disk. The card lit up and something began to materialize in front of Jamin. A short girl with green hair in pigtails and a small green dragon floating by her formed out of the lights and solidified in front of him. She opened her eyes and looked about, and almost immediately panicked.“Huh!? Whaah! Hey I can’t fly; I’m too young to fly!” She ranted “kyaaaaaah!”She grabbed onto the dragon and hugged it tightly, apparently under the impression that it would hold her up. “Err….” Jamin blinked at the girl stupidly “you do realize you’re not actually falling right?”“Huh?”The girl looked over at Jamin, then reluctantly let go of the dragon.“Oh! You’re right!” She exclaimed.“Well so much for you being able to get me out of here,” Jamin sighed, scratching his head.”“Huh?” The girl looked over at him “Jamin! What the hell happened to you? You look kind of pale.”“Huh?” Jamin looked at her confused “actually I’m a bit more tanned that usual, I’ve been in Egypt for the past few days.”“I thought you lived in Egypt!” The girl replied loudly “I mean a few millennia isn’t much to go by but you could at least stay in one place when you reincarnate, huh!” “Okay, okay just calm down,” Jamin said “I kinda need to figure out a way out of here.”The girl stopped her raving and looked around her.“So, you’ve never been here right?” She asked.“Nope,” Jamin answered.“You remember how you got here?” The girl asked.“Yeah, an inter-dimensional matter transporter thing,” Jamin said.“Well just use some other dimensional spell card to get back,” the girl replied “you’ve got some right?”“Not on me, no.” Jamin replied. The girl blinked at him and sighed.“Well, Aussa’s so much better than me at this but I’ll give it a go,” She held her arm out into mid air and a green and blue staff topped with a small dragon head materialized in her hand in a gust of wind.“Hey, what are you doing?” Jamin asked. A sudden wind started up, circling around the girl and blowing her hair and cloths around, a white circle suddenly drew itself around her torso.“Wait, I know what this is,” Jamin said.“Power of air and wind that govern the skies, enchant my stave and grant me your blessings,” the girl chanted “Spiritual Wind art, Miyabi!”A cyclone formed itself around Jamin and encircled him.“Euh, are you sure about this?” He asked. The girl ignored him and finished her spell. Jamin covered his face with his arms and the wind swept over him. The next thing he knew he was being slammed into soft, sandy ground. He looked up spluttering slightly, blinking at the light cast by the desert sun. He sat up and looked about, noticing the green haired girl standing beside him with a satisfied smile on her face; she appeared transparent against the sandy backdrop.“Satisfied?” She asked.“Yeah,” Jamin muttered, wiping sand out of his mouth “thanks, Wynn.”“No problem,” Wynn smiled and vanished.Jamin grunted and sat up, looking about him.“Well that was pointless,” he muttered “where the heck do I go now?”He bowed his head as he thought, as far as he knew all that was left to get was the puzzle and the rod, and Shadowcaster would most likely have gone after the rod first which just left the puzzle. Jamin looked up.“I bet I know where it is,” he grinned. He turned about and ran as fast as he could, tearing up sand as he went. However he hadn’t gone far when he came to a sudden stop.“Oh wait,” he said “how the heck do I get there?” He sighed and closed his eyes. The sounds and feel of the world around him vanished, and suddenly all he felt was energy flowing throughout reality.“This is weird,” he muttered to himself “but oddly enough it makes sense.”He reached out further and felt a strong source of spirit energy right next to a slightly weaker source.“Ah, that must be Kim and Josh,” he muttered “now what else.”He reached out further, and felt seven different points of energy in the same place, six of them were different from Kim and Josh’s and the last one felt freakishly familiar.“Shadowcaster,” Jamin muttered “heading for the puzzle.”He pushed harder and he found a power that felt even stronger than Josh’s spirit energy. The sudden force of it caused Jamin to choke and fall on his knees, the sudden rush of reality around him causing dizziness.“T-that was…” He belched and then threw up on the sand “the puzzle? A replica has that much power? How much power did the real puzzle have then?” He stood up shakily and then ran in the direction of the puzzle, sensing Shadowcaster’s spirit force moving in the same direction.“I’ve got to get there faster than him,” he muttered “he can only move through shadow, so there’s can’t be much of that in the desert, but there’ll sure be plenty in the valley.”He paused for breath, speeding up.“I’ve got to get there before him,” he gasped “somehow, I will.” Inside the crypt, Josh looked up suddenly.“What’s up?” Kim asked.“I thought I felt something,” he muttered “but I’m not sure.”“Was it Jamin?” Kim asked.“I don’t know,” Josh replied “but he’s sure strengthened himself if he had.”He stood up and attempted to push open the trap door again.“Josh I don’t think it’s going to give,” Kim said “please.”“There’s no use in giving up,” Josh replied in a gruff voice “if this thing can open, then I will open it!”Kim took a step back, a worried expression on her face. Josh narrowed his eyes and gritted his teeth, pushing harder. A sudden wave of energy released itself from him, causing Kim to choke for a moment before she got used to the sudden flow of energy.“W-what’s going on?” She gasped. Josh heaved again; a cracking noise sounded and the trap door was suddenly torn clean off its hinges and flung over, landing with a soft thump on the sand. The energy flowing from Josh suddenly stopped. He stood with his torso out of the hole, panting heavily.“What was that?” Kim asked.“I suddenly found a bit of resolve in me, that’s all,” Josh replied.“Oh,” was all Kim could reply with “okay.”Josh marched off with Kim following her.“Do you know where Jamin is?” She asked.“There’s only one place he could be right now,” Josh explained “so we’re going there.”Kim smiled and nodded, quickening her pace. Jamin paused, heaving for breath. The sun was beginning to set, casting a crimson glow over the sky. He looked down at the rocky valley below him with a set of giant stone doors set into the cliff at the other side.“The valley of the kings,” he panted “that’s where the puzzle is hidden.”He looked at the ground below him before he jumped down the rocky hill to the bottom of the valley. He stopped just in front of the giant doors.“Well, here I go,” he muttered. He walked up the steps and pushed open the great stone door and move inside, not noticing the set of violet eyes watching him from the shadow of a cave. The entrance hall of the crypt was huge, decorated with two giant serpents flaking the way in. Jamin gazed up at them.“Well I guess I gotta hand it to them,” he smirked “they certainly know how to decorate.”He moved forwards between the two statues. As soon as he passed beneath the serpents’ gaping mouths two spitting sounds met his ears. Instinctively he threw himself forwards and rolled along the ground, looking behind him he saw two darts imbedded in the stone floor behind him.“Ouch,” he muttered “I guess I should be more careful.” He looked ahead of him and noticed a small tablet set into the wall at the other end of the room.“Huh, where now?” He asked himself “if only Josh were here, he was the one that listened to the stories of the pharaoh, whether he wanted to or not.”He looked about the floor in front of him, trying to spot any other kind of traps that might be waiting for him. He sighed and folded his arms. As far as he could see there was nothing he had on his possession that could help him in this situation.“Bah,” he scuffed his foot along the ground, kicking up a few fragments of dust.He looked up at the tablet again, noticing some singed straw set into a trough underneath it.“Don’t tell me,” he muttered in disbelief. He grabbed a flaming torch off a wall and placed the flame on the straw. The fire sprang into life, illuminating several hieroglyphs calved into the tablet. At the same time a stone door opened in the floor behind him. “Well, didn’t expect that to happen,” he muttered. He moved down the steps, keeping his torch held high so as to light the way inside. Once he reached the bottom he saw what looked like a maze suspended above a pit leading into a dark void. Several statues were placed along the path.“Oh great,” Jamin sighed “well, no helping it I guess.”He threw the torch into the pit and waited for it to hit the bottom. Nothing. He glared up at the statue nearest to him, swallowed and charged. Almost immediately the statue moved forwards, Jamin took step back in his surprise. He sighed and raised his arm to defend himself. As soon as the statue swung at him he raised the arm with the duel disk on and blocked the swing then, before the statue could prepare another strike, raised his leg and slammed his foot into the statue’s midriff. It toppled over and fell into the chasm below. He smirked and looked up at the other statues left.“So, who else wants some then?” He asked. Josh stopped, looking down the valley that Jamin had entered just a few minutes ago. The sky now was practically the colour of blood.“Something bad is about to happen,” he commented “I can sense it.”“I Jamin really down there?” Kim asked.“Yeah,” Josh nodded “probably looking for the puzzle.”“What if Diablo got to it first?” Kim asked.“Then we’re screwed,” Josh said “I don’t know if I can face Zorc again, let alone win.”“Whatever happened to that resolve of yours?” Kim asked irritably.“It went,” Josh replied blankly. Jamin panted and fell on one knee at the other end of the maze, several broken statues littered the path behind him, aside from the ones he’d knocked down the chasm. He turned around to look at the destruction he’d just caused.“Heh, so much for you,” he laughed. He moved through the next door, staring ahead of him. The final path was a simple one, just straight across the chasm.“Well,” he muttered striding forwards “guess it’s now or never.”He took one step forwards. However before he took another a gust of wind blew past him, followed by the floating shadow alighted with a pair of purple eyes.“You!?”“Me,” Shadowcaster laughed “now I can finally resurrect my master and together we will conquer the universe.”Jamin’s eyes narrowed and he ran forwards. Shadowcaster merely raised his hand and fired at the bridge, smashing it in the middle. Jamin stopped just in time to stop himself from falling over the edge.“Let’s say you and me have one final duel,” Shadowcaster said, floating down beside the puzzle “you and me, no holding back and no backing out!”“Bring it on!” Jamin answered, slotting his deck into his duel disk and activating it.“Heh, fool!” Shadowcaster replied, forming a shadowy duel disk out of his own arm.“Yeah, but on one condition though,” Jamin said.He raised his arm. A light sudden illuminated from the stand holding the millennium puzzle, then the same light glowed from Jamin hand. He clenched his fist in thin air and the millennium puzzle materialized in it.“I get the puzzle,” Jamin said.“Fine,” Shadowcaster snarled “but it’s still six items to one.”“They’re not the real items, remember?” Jamin laughed “and the puzzle is much more powerful that the rest.”He slipped the pendant around his neck and suddenly felt a sudden rush of his own energy filling him.“So this is the power of the puzzle?” He muttered.A bright light illuminated the whole room, somehow casting a wind about the chamber as well and blowing out the candles, creating the illusion that Jamin and Shadowcaster were standing on nothing but blackness.“So, let’s duel, shall me?” Jamin asked.“Fine by me!” Shadowcaster replied.“Duel!” “My turn, if you don’t mind,” Shadowcaster declared, drawing six cards from his deck.“Go ahead,” Jamin said “you’ll lose either way.”“Heh, fitting words for someone about to die,” Shadowcaster laughed “so first I’ll summon Genria in defense mode!”A skeletal Imp armoured in something looking suspiciously like bone jumped out of the shadows and settles into a crouched position with its arms crossed over its chest.“I’ll end my turn there.”“Huh?” Jamin muttered.“What’s the matter?” Shadowcaster asked “not afraid are you?”“Not a chance!” Jamin replied “my turn. I play the spell card fissure, this allows me to destroy your weakest monster, and that’s your Genria!”Shadowcaster’s monster doubled up in pain and then shattered.“Now I can summon Element Saurus in attack mode!” Jamin declared “Element Saurus attack his life points directly!”Jamin’s dinosaur drew a deep breath and let loose a volley of fire, striking Shadowcaster and knocking his life points down to 2500.“Take that,” Jamin smirked “I’ll lay this face down and end my turn.”“You’ll regret not making another move,” Shadowcaster laughed “because thanks to your attack, I can now special summon Cobal, Executioner of Dark World!”“Huh?”A Dark Blue Golem with a small face and massive shoulder plates materialized on the field.“Also, thanks to Genria’s effect, since you destroyed it with a card effect I can now special summon it back to my side of the field!”“Give me a break,” Jamin sighed. “Heh, my turn,” Shadowcaster declared “so I’ll play my axe of despair and equip it to my executioner.”“Grr.”A large axe appeared in Cobal’s hand, raising his attack points to 1200.“My monster still has more attack points,” Jamin explained.“Not for long,” Shadowcaster said “I activate the Dark World Mountain!”“Huh?”A large black tower suddenly spiraled out of the ground behind Shadowcaster, looming over the playing field and raising the attack of Cobal to 1700.“No way,”“Now I’ll set one card face down,” Shadowcaster said “and now Cobal will attack Element Saurus, dark world crush!”Shadowcaster’s monster charged forwards, taking a swing at Jamin’s monster and destroying it, cutting Jamin’s life points down to 2800.“Now his effect activated,” Shadowcaster explained “I can move one monster with Dark World in its name from my deck to my hand. So for now I’ll end my turn there.”“My turn then,” Jamin said “I’ll summon Familiar Possessed Wynn in attack mode!”“Huh?”Wynn materialized in front of Jamin, only this time she was taller, had wilder hair and a scroll wound between her arms.“You called?” She asked.“Sure did,” Jamin said “see that monster over there?”“Yeah,” Wynn replied.“Attack!”“Tempest Strike!” Wynn chanted, firing a gust of wind at Cobal and destroying him, knocking Shadowcaster’s life points down to 2400.“You haven’t won yet!” He growled “I draw.”Shadowcaster took a new card from his deck and activated it.“I play Dark World Dealings,” Shadowcaster said “so we both draw one card, and then discard one card.”“Fine by me,” Jamin said, mimicking Shadowcaster and he drew and discarded.“Yes, but I’ve discarded Celery, Guru of Dark World,” Shadowcaster explained “and when he’s discarded from my hand, he’s special summoned on your side of the field!”“Huh?”A black monster materialized next to Wynn on Jamin’s side of the field.“Gross,” Wynn commented.“And there’s another effect too,” Shadowcaster explained “now you randomly discard one card from my hand.”“Fine,” Jamin replied “I choose that one.” He indicated a choice.“Bad choice,” Shadowcaster laughed. He discarded the card to his graveyard, and almost immediately a shadowy vortex erupted from it and a giant axe wielding monolith rose from the shadows on Shadowcaster’s side of the field.“No way!” Jamin gasped.“Yes way!” Shadowcaster laughed “you remember Reign-Beux right? Well he’s back, and thanks to my Dark World Tower he gains 500 extra attack points. And now since he was special summoned by his effect, all of your monsters are destroyed!”“Huh?”Wynn screamed and doubled up in pain before she and the Guru smashed.“Wynn!” Jamin yelled out.“Too late!” Shadowcaster laughed “I’m afraid it’s a little too late for her!” “Ergh,” Josh collapsed on one knee, clutching his chest.“Josh what’s wrong?” Kim asked.“Something really bad is happening,” Josh gasped “really, really bad.”“Is it Jamin?” Kim asked.“Most likely,” Josh replied “if we could just get inside the tomb we could…”“Could?”“I don’t know,” Josh gasped. Shadowcaster continued his maniac laughed as Reign towered over Jamin.“You’re finished, Jamin Tsubasa!” Shadowcaster laughed “Reign-Beux, attack him directly!”Reign raised his staff and lightning crackled through it. Jamin braced himself for the impact.“Dark world Blast!” Shadowcaster ordered.Reign let loose his volley of lightning towards Jamin, a colossal explosion sounded once it impacted, shrouding the arena in a cloud of dust.
