not naze
This is a remake of the first cards I ever posted here. I modified some cards a lot, some only got a minor rework, and I also added 2 new cards ! You can see the original topic here if you're interested, but the new version is way better and well designed imo. The artworks I made for them are all over the place ! I used all kind of techniques: some backgrounds were AI generated (eww), some are already existing pictures or drawings ; some parts of the cards are collage of real Kuriboh cards parts, some are collage and montage of random things. The result is pretty funny and chaotic imo. So let's explain the original intent. Kuriboh is my favorite monster, I love his aesthetic and how iconic he is both in the anime and the game. In fact, he's the very first handtrap of the game (allowing you to discard it to negate burn damage effect) ! People usually forget that, but I think it's what make him so important in a game-design sense. The reason why I started to design yugioh cards was because I wanted to make him viable in his own archetype, something Konami always failed to do, or at least failed to care about. So that's why when I started to design these support cards, I wanted to insist on that handtrap side of him, instead of the burn damage negation side Konami usually design his retrain around. "Kuriboh's Protectorate" is the focal point of the deck. Its first effect allows you to search for 2 Spell cards that mentions Kuriboh, which is very important since most of the cards I designed here are Spell cards. But it's the second effect that make the deck works as it does. When your opponent activate a monster effect, you can discard "1 monster with "Kuriboh" in its name or 1 "Kuriboh" monster". This wording is actually very important to understand because "monster with "Kuriboh" in its name" can mean Kuriboh itself, but also things like Astral Kuriboh, Winged Kuriboh, Clear Kuriboh, Galactikuriboh, etc etc... which represent in total 20 cards ! All of these cards used to have no synergy between themselves, and could not be played in 1 coherent deck, so this wording actually makes up for that. But it also gives a synergy with the "Kuriboh" monsters that don't have "kuriboh" in their names ! Like kuribah, kuribee, kuriboo, etc .., which were kind of their separate archetype until then. This wording is what tie all the Kuriboh's cards with each others, and will come back in some other support cards I designed here. As for "The flute of summoning the flute of summoning kuriboh", it allows you to search for most kuriboh monsters, or for any kuriboh spell (like Protectorate and other custom cards, or already existing spell cards like Multiply or the original flute). As you may had already understand, it is a pun with the card "The flute of summoning kuriboh", which is a real card that allows to add to your hand or special summon Kuriboh or Winged Kuriboh. The joke is that this card can add the original Flute to your hand (or any other kuriboh card that the original flute cannot search for). It also have the exact same wording as the original flute (which is why it looks so weird), and its artwork is also the same, except it features the Flute instead of Kuriboh. Here are the secondary support cards of the deck. When you discard 1 Kuriboh card with Protectorate's effect, Burrow allows you to add 1 other Kuriboh monster from your deck or GY to your hand (but only once per turn for balance purpose), and Kuristrictionh allows you to negate the effect of a monster that is already on the field, and to destroy another card too if you do it. I think there is nothing too hard to understand here so let's move on to the Extra-Deck cards. Tufted Fusion is the fusing card of the deck, that allows you to summon "United Kuribohs", by banishing his materials. It can also banish them from the GY, allowing you to recycle your Kuribohs that you have discarded with Protectorate's effect. United Kuribohs is actually very similar to the card "Wake Up Your Elemental HERO", so I basically took its wording and changed it to make United match to the effect I wanted for it. It's basically the boardbreaker and the win condition of the deck. This card can only be summoned by Fusion (so no Monster Reborn from the GY). It then gains 100 ATK for each materials used for its summon. It can also make as much attacks on monsters as the number of materials used. After damage calculation, it can send the monster he battled directly to the GY (effectively bypassing the destruction protection some monsters can have). His last effect is a bounce one. If the card leaves the field in any way, you can summon back 1 banished Kuriboh monster. This card might actually be the most special and out of place. I actually designed it to answer to a need of the Kuriboh original playstyle. So you may know that with the card Multiply, you can tribute 1 Kuriboh to summon up to 5 Kuriboh Token. But there is no card that actually benefit too much from that interraction. You can at best summon a generic Link 4 monster like Accesscode Talker or Mekk-Knight Avramax, but I thought it wasn't really satisfying, so I made this card instead. If it's summoned with 5 Kuriboh cards (including Kuriboh tokens) you can add 1 Kuriboh spell from your deck to your hand. Then, once per chain (like Apollousa), when a spell or trap card or effect is activated, you can either tribute or discard a Kuriboh monster in order to negate it. Even if the wording is a bit messy, it's actually pretty easy to understand, but it also complement well with Protectorate that can only negate monster effect. And with all these cards, I think you get a pretty viable and consistent deck consisting of only Kuriboh cards ! It might even be a little too strong, Protectorate might be limited to one copy, but it really takes all that to make Kuriboh and his friends playable in their own deck. I hope you liked these cards, I'd be happy to hear your opinions and criticism about them ! Edited March 13 by not naze
