Mummy Archetype (Written)

A little extra Halloween-themed archetype that I've cooked up. This one inspired by the small series of "Mummy" cards from the Pharaonic Guardian set as well as general ancient Egyptian culture. This deck has a FLIP control strategy. Feedback is welcomed and appreciated.

Monsters:

Cursed Mummy

(Retrain of "Poison Mummy") 

EARTH/Zombie/Flip/Effect/Level: 4/ATK 1000 / DEF 1800

Flip: You can destroy 1 Spell/Trap your opponent controls, then inflict 500 damage to your opponent for each face-up EARTH “Mummy” monster on the field.

If you control no face-up monsters: You can Special Summon this card from your hand in face-down Defense Position. If this face-down Defense Position card in its owner's control leaves the field because of an opponent's card effect: You can Special Summon 1 Zombie monster from your GY in face-down Defense Position. You can only use each effect of “Cursed Mummy” once per turn.

 

Executor Mummy

(Retrain of "Giant Axe Mummy")

EARTH/Zombie/Flip/Effect/Level: 5/ATK 1700 / DEF 2000

Flip: You can destroy 1 monster your opponent controls.

If you control no face-up monsters: You can Special Summon this card from your hand in face-down Defense Position. If this face-down Defense Position card in its owner's control leaves the field because of an opponent's card effect: You can Special Summon 1 Zombie monster from your GY in face-down Defense Position. You can only use each effect of “Executor Mummy” once per turn.

 

Priest Mummy

(Based on ancient Egyptian priests who presided over mummification ceremonies)

EARTH/Zombie/Flip/Effect/Level: 4/ ATK 1300 / DEF 1600

Flip: You can Special Summon 1 monster from the GYs to your field, and if you do, its name becomes “Wandering Mummy” while it is on the field or in the GYs.

If you control no face-up monsters: You can Special Summon this card from your hand in face-down Defense Position. If this face-down Defense Position card in its owner's control leaves the field because of an opponent's card effect: You can Special Summon 1 Zombie monster from your GY in face-down Defense Position. You can only use each effect of “Priest Mummy” once per turn.

 

Royal Guard Mummy

(Retrain of "Royal Keeper")

EARTH/Zombie/Flip/Effect/Level: 4/ ATK 1600 / DEF 1700

Flip: You can take 1 “Mummy” Spell/Trap from your Deck and either add it to your hand or send it to the GY, then this card gains 300 ATK/DEF for each face-up monster your opponent controls.

If this card is in your hand or GY: You can change 1 face-down Defense Position EARTH “Mummy” monster you control to face-up Attack or Defense Position, then you can Special Summon this card in face-down Defense Position. If this face-down Defense Position card in its owner's control leaves the field because of an opponent's card effect: You can Special Summon 1 Zombie monster from your GY in face-down Defense Position. You can only use each effect of “Royal Guard Mummy” once per turn.

 

Servant Mummy

(Retrain of "Wandering Mummy")

EARTH/Zombie/Flip/Effect/Level: 4/ ATK 1500 / DEF 1500

Flip: You can add 1 EARTH “Mummy” monster from your Deck to your hand.

If you control a face-down Defense Position monster: You can Special Summon this card from your hand in face-down Defense Position, then you can rearrange the face-down Defense Position monsters in your Main Monster Zones, then return them in face-down Defense Position. If this face-down Defense Position card in its owner's control leaves the field because of an opponent's card effect: You can Special Summon 1 Zombie monster from your GY in face-down Defense Position. You can only use each effect of “Servant Mummy” once per turn.

 

The Tjaty's Mummy

(A tjaty was the pharaoh's chief advisor and their version of the prime minister.)

EARTH/Zombie/Flip/Effect/Level: 6/ ATK 2300 / DEF 2500

FLIP: You can Set “Mummy” Spell/Traps from your GY to your Spell & Trap Zone up to the number of monsters your opponent controls. They can be activated this turn.

(Quick Effect): You can change 1 face-up monster on the field to face-down Defense Position. If this face-down Defense Position card in its owner's control leaves the field because of an opponent's card effect: You can Special Summon 1 Zombie monster from your GY in face-down Defense Position. You can only use each effect of “The Tjaty's Mummy” once per turn.

 

The Pharaoh's Mummy

EARTH/Zombie/Flip/Effect/Level: 8/ ATK 2500 / DEF 2800

FLIP: You can Special Summon EARTH “Mummy” monsters from your hand, Deck, or GY in face-down Defense Position, up to the number of monsters your opponent controls.

If this face-up or face-down Defense Position card in its owner's control leaves the field because of an opponent's card effect: You can Special Summon up to 2 Zombie monsters from your GY in face-down Defense Position. You can only use each of the preceding effects of "The Pharaoh's Mummy" once per turn. Once per chain, when your opponent activates a card or effect (Quick Effect): You can change 1 face-down Defense Position EARTH “Mummy” monster you control to face-up Attack or Defense Position.

 

Spell/Traps:

Curse of the Mummy

(Based on the "curse of the pharaohs" urban legend)

Continuous Spell

All monsters your opponent controls must attack, if able. Once per turn: You can Special Summon 1 EARTH “Mummy” monster from your hand or GY in face-down Defense Position. When an EARTH “Mummy” monster you control is destroyed by battle or your opponent’s monster effect: Send the monster that destroyed your monster to the GY.

 

The Opening of the Mouth

(Named after the ancient Egyptian ritual that was used to give mummies their senses in the afterlife)

Normal Spell

Take 1 EARTH “Mummy” monster from your Deck and either add it to your hand or send it to the GY.

 

Tomb of the Mummy

Field Spell

All EARTH “Mummy” monsters gain 700 ATK/DEF. When this card is activated: You can Special Summon 1 EARTH “Mummy” monster from your Deck in face-down Defense Position. When your opponent activates a card or effect that targets a face-down EARTH “Mummy” monster you control: You can change that monster to face-up Defense Position; negate the activation, and if you do, destroy that card. You can only activate 1 “Tomb of the Mummy” per turn.

 

Judgment of the Pharaoh's Mummy

Counter Trap

When a Spell/Trap Card, or monster effect, is activated while you control a Level 6 or higher EARTH "Mummy" monster: Negate the activation, and if you do, destroy that card. You can discard this card; apply 1 of these effects.

· Change 1 face-down Defense Position EARTH “Mummy” monster you control to face-up Attack Position.
· Change 1 face-up Attack Position EARTH “Mummy” monster you control to face-down Defense Position.
You can only use each effect of “Judgment of the Pharaoh's Mummy” once per turn.

 

Trap of the Mummy's Tomb

Normal Trap

Tribute 1 face-up or face-down Defense Position EARTH “Mummy” monster, then target 2 cards your opponent controls; send them to the GY. You can discard this card; apply 1 of these effects.

· Change 1 face-down Defense Position EARTH “Mummy” monster you control to face-up Attack Position.
· Change 1 face-up Attack Position EARTH “Mummy” monster you control to face-down Defense Position.
You can only use each effect of “Trap of the Mummy’s Tomb” once per turn.
