Umbra
Alright, people. I'm starting this fan-fic because of an idea I got, and it's too late to integrate it into the LotT universe. I am not going to stop writing LotT. (God told me that I couldn't) I'll give you the prologue to read and comment as you wish. However, I must warn you here. There are certain scenes in this fanfiction that might be inappropriate for certain readers below the age of fifteen. This is destiny Our journey started during 2005, late May. It was roughly 5:30 PM, and in the countryside town of Hawton, and the workday has just ended for most people. It seemed at first like a normal day. A car drove along the Hawton Boulevarde. The streets on both sides of the car were not crowded; only a few people walked along it, probably on their way home from work. Well, those that worked nearby, at least. The man in the backseat of the car didn't care much. He had other matters to think of. His cell phone rang; he picked it up to answer. He smiled when he saw who had called, and answered. - You know where they are, darling? He waited for a few seconds, then smiled. - Good. I'll pick you up. You're at the room, right? He put back the cell phone in his left pocket, and leaned back towards the seat. The man was probably in his sixties, but looked around fifty or fifty-five. He had short, gray hair, and a slightly longer gray beard. He had circular glasses, which gave his rough skin and dark eyes a slightly more sophisticated look. For today, he had dressed up in a fancy grey tuxedo, with a black and white-striped tie. Anne's information couldn't have come at any better time. After all these years, he would finally meet them. The man looked at the driver, who seemed confident, yet somewhat tired. The man could understand the driver. It had been a long day for both of them. He had worked with the driver for many years, and the now, their work would finally come to an end. On the sidewalk, possibly five hundred meters away from the car, a young boy, probably thirteen or fourteen, was walking towards the car. He didn't know that the car was heading towards him; he had just left school for the day and was on his way home. While he was walking down the street, he heard someone call his name and looked up, slowly. It was his parents, coming on the sidewalk on the other side of the road. They waved at him, and he waved back.. His father looked at his mother, and talked to her briefly. The boy couldn't hear them, but as soon as they took a step 'cross the road, he understood. They wanted to talk to him. But he couldn't talk to them, not now. If they came any closer, they would see that he was loaded. One of his friends had managed to get hold of some from “a friend” and he had invited him over for a try. Needless to say, it hadn't worked as he thought it would. He felt all down, and drowsy. Everything seemed black and white. His parents came closer by the second. The boy raised his hands to cover his eyes, and looked away. Then, he heard a terrible crushing sound. The car couldn't stop in time. Just on the other side of the street, The young waitress who sat behind the counter couldn't believe her eyes. Just a few minutes ago, she had served the married couple in their forties their tea, and they had drank it quickly. They had paid – too much, but they had told her to keep the rest. Then, they had just walked out the door, and had started to walk across the street. A split second later, they were both dead. Hit by a car, speeding along the street. It was a long, gray car, much like those old-style limos. The girl just stood there, with her mouth wide open. She vaguely saw that some of the guests were looking out through the window, but she couldn't bare to. Instead, she sat down behind the counter, and cried. Crash! The man in the backseat of the car looked up as he felt a sting of vibration pass through the car. In the driver's seat, his chauffeur just stared out through the window. Then, he rushed out through the car door and ran away. The man had been reliving old memories, and had therefore not seen what the driver had been doing. He stepped out of the car, and looked ahead. What he saw filled his head with disgusted thoughts and images he would never forget. A couple, possibly forty or forty-five years old, was lying underneath the car. The man's arm was pointing out from underneath the wheel. And there was so much blood. Blood on the wheels, blood on the pavement, blood running in cascades from the bodies. He staggered backwards, away from the car, and threw up on the street. The boy found himself to be an orphan.
