Yugioh: Combining Dragons, Spellcasters, and Rituals isn't the best idea.

 

Yugioh GX: The kind of parent who wants their kid to go somewhere they like. As for the "Spirit Possession" Part, it you description was like a mix between Season 3 and 4.

 

Yugioh 5D's: He actually built the D-Wheel himself.

 

For me, 5D's>=GX>=DM

Honestly I think Yusei is the best main character so far because of his bad@$$ attitude

I rather like 5 D's. Sure, the "Riding Duels" confuse the bloody heck outta me, but otherwise the story is no more outrageous than the previous Yugiou series.

 

Original: Hey, some nerdy high school kid gets inhabited by the spirit of an ancient pharaoh who settles things by playing games where if you lose, your soul and mind go into a black void.

I liked the original series okay. It had a few serious moments, and not as much lame joking. It went on a lot about friendship, which is a good message to send to people, but they may have overdone it a bit. Nothing really can measure up to the original, though.

 

GX: A school just for dueling! It's not a very realistic idea, but it's still fun, and every duelist I know wishes he or she could've gone there.

Other than the unrealistic premise of a school for playing card games, I thought GX was fine. It started out light enough, but around the time of Yubel is when it got really good. It's when you see how deep and emotional these characters could really get, and I kinda liked the darkness of this part of the series. Of course, this is coming from the guy who likes Yubel and Bakura most.

 

5 D's: People in the future duel--on motorbikes! Sure, the idea may seem a bit stupid, but really, is it any less stupid than playing a children's card game to save the world?

Honestly, the Riding Duels confused me when I first saw them. You get accustomed after a few episodes, though, and if you give it a chance, you see it's not so bad. They have normal duels as well, which, I guess, is the saving grace for the series in the eyes of some fans. 5 D's doesn't deserve it's bad reputation just because of motorbikes, though. If you look past that small little detail, that new quality, it isn't a bad series. I really like the story (The poor get oppressed, and the rich exploit them until someone gets sick of it). It looks pretty cool, too. I laugh when I see why people say it sucks:

"Riding Duels?! What the crap are those?!"

"5 D's sucks because of Riding Duels!"

"The motorbike duels in 5 D's make it so lamezorz lol!!111oneone".

Really, there's only one "bad" thing about 5 D's, from what I see. I don't even think it's particularly bad. It's a new thing. Seriously.

i watched season one of yugioh when i was about 10 and htought it was amazingly good, but i was young and easily lead. i just watched it bakc and thought it was utter ... rubbish.

 

but in syaing that, yugioh gx which is supposedly more "child friendly" (going to destroy the world with a big outer-space laser cannon? terrorism anyone?) i really liked.

 

season 1 - just a bunch of fun duels, nice story, kwl charcters. ok maybe judai is a bit too happy but i got over it quickly.

 

season 2 - nice twist in it. light is evil! thats a new one there.

 

season 3 - thought the desert thing was a bit ridiulous, too much liek pokemon. but later on with the haou judai was great! best bit was when zane dueled yubel johan.

 

season 4 - quite a short season and i like how friendship was big in this season. even in the 3 way duel between judai johan and whats-his-face (the one with octopus hair, i forget :S) they used friendship themed cards. tyhey did spoil it in the end when judai actually dueled "darkness" i mean come on!and then the dreaded return of.... the heart of the cards! but worse. "im friends with my deck!" stupid thing. still i liked this series the best, season 3 a runner up.

 

5d's seams kwl but ive only watched 2 episodes so i dunno wut to say about it really.

as 4 GX, that was way 2 weird 4 me

i watched the first 2 seasons, but i got bored quickly

so i stopped watching it 4 a bit, and then watched a couple episodes of the 3rd season

they were like total crap

 

i liked the original season the best (Bakura FTW!)

best storyline, best characters, sure the friendship thing was a bit overdone, but still.

 

but either way, the show was just made 2 sell more cards

@wilson91 : They really kill the OCG, but they're not bad.Of course, if you only watch anime, you would come to a tournament with a E-Hero's deck putting E-hero Bubleman in face-up ATK position with the hope to draw 2 cards from your deck, AND THEN drawing a Pot of Greed, making you draw 2 more cards, making you draw ANOTHER Pot of Greed, making you draw another 2 cards (WTF???)(I know, Pot of Greed is Forbidden).And with those lots of cards you draw you summon an E-hero tempest and E-hero Shining Flare Wingman in the same turn.Also, if you watch only the anime, you'll spend some weeks searching for a card named ''Darkness'' (PS: Is Anime Only).

 

I continue my opinion: GX sucks.Bad.

I'm glad to see at least a few people here who didn't hate Gx. -_- I personally liked Gx better than the original, though frankly, I love 'em both to bits. (You will NEVER catch me saying as much in real life though...unless I'm with very close friends...)

 

5D actually seems interesting to me - I've watched the first few episodes and don't have a problem with it. I have the feeling that if people just gave it a chance, they'd like it. After all, prejudging a series based solely on first impression is never a good idea.

The only thing I really got from that was that whoever this "v8561v" is has most likely ingested a ****load of coffee and/or sugar before postingO_O.

 

Seriously though, the whole Motorcycle thing just feels too gimmicky for my taste. I am well aware it's not all motorcycle duels, I'm just not really drawn to the series as a whole if it's gonna really on that gimmicky concept as a primary plot device...especially after the bitter sweet taste of GX that I was left with, too many filler episodes/duels and a few plot devices (*COUGH*Duel Zombies*COUGH*) that just seemed absured (and of course having access only to the 4Kids dub I was forced to endure the worst voices and one-liners imaginable [i only have dial-up internet right nowT-T]). I still miss the original series, I'm still gonna by the actual cards, but right now...I'm just spent on the anime.

Oka,here is what I think.

 

Yu-Gi-Oh: The beginning wasn't even the beginning of the true show. There was a season before our first season that was never shown possibly because 4kids thought it was too contriversial. The duels were darker and no Virtual Reality. Also, the reason why the duels were so different back then was because Konami hadn't completely thought of the rules for the offical game,yet. Those rules weren't applied until later. About the ending, 4kids cut it off. It was during the ending credits. Watch the final episode of the Japanese dubbed version.

 

Yu-Gi-Oh GX: After the first season, I wasn't able to watch it much, but what I got wasn't a load of crap and it wasn't good either. It was okay. I kinda liked the duel between Jaden and Darkness and the final few episodes but other than that, eh.

 

Yu-Gi-Oh 5ds: Haven't watched it, yet.

 

As such, I can't really say which one I like the most.

The riding duels add an extra dimension and may in some the D-Wheels be used as an extension of the personality of the character, like the fact JACK cannot face the right way for me than 2 minutes....

 

People are just unwilling to accept YGO's new step, but no one minded when 4Kids brought out Capsule Monsters.

 

The first series had barely any duels tbh probably about 8 (Vs Seto (3 and 24), Count. Ledolly (8x2), The Triplets (15), Dimon (20)) with one hell of aload of butt kicking in the Yami No Games ending with the awesome Monster World RPG.

 

I'm still annoyed that YGO ended up so DM based that it ruined a perfectly awesome first series.

I'm amused that there are people who think 4Kids owns Yugioh. Yugioh DM ended because it also ended in Japanese, where it ORIGINATED. 4Kids did not take it away, and could not create more episodes of it, as they do not own it. They own the rights to translating it, and that is all.

 

Explain to me why you hated GX? It seems like the best installment for the series to me.
