Veilwarden - A custom archetype with Shadow Spell and Fiendish Chain support

Hello again!

Recently I've been thinking about Trap Decks. This style of deck has always seemed interesting, but often struggles to match up to the meta, either being too slow or unable to keep up in resources.  However, both Traptrix and Lab have had more success than other decks, which made me think about how they managed to do so. What I came up with was that Trap decks really need to be able to recycle cards and have strong engines for card advantage, since they need to react rather than proactively set up favorable game states.  Whether this is actually true, I don't know. But, in thinking about it I also thought about some of my favorite old school cards, Shadow Spell and its updated version Fiendish Chain. So, in an attempt to make these card relevant I have given them each two new versions, along with an archetype of monsters that help them recycle, gain card advantage from their use, and for good measure can make use of the face that as continuous traps they stay face-up of the field and occasionally stick around after the monster they ensnared as left the field. So, here is Chainwarden, a Dark Fairy archetype focused on a control grind game. Some lore is available at the bottom after the cards.

As a reminder, here are the original effects of Shadow Spell and Fiendish Chain. I am not posting the card images as that may be against the rules.

Shadow Spell (Continuous Trap Card): Activate this card by targeting 1 face-up monster your opponent controls; it loses 700 ATK, also it cannot attack or change its battle position. When it leaves the field, destroy this card.

Fiendish Chain (Continuous Trap Card): Activate this card by targeting 1 Effect Monster on the field; negate the effects of that face-up monster while it is on the field, also that face-up monster cannot attack. When it is destroyed, destroy this card.

First up, the Traps.

Sinister Shadow Spell

Continuous Trap Card

If you control no monsters or only "Veilwarden" monsters you can activate this card from your hand.
Target one monster your opponent controls: it cannot attack, change its battle position, or be used as material for a Fusion/Synchro/XYZ/or Link summon.  Additionally, its activated effects become "when this effect resolves, this monster loses 700 ATK".
When it leaves the field: if it left the field due to a card you control, you can banish 1 "Shadow Spell" or "Fiendish Chain" Trap Card, or 1 "Veilwarden" monster from you hand or GY; return this card to you hand, otherwise destroy this card.
You can only activate 1 "Sinister Shadow Spell" per turn, and only use each effect once per turn.

Darkest Shadow Spell

Continuous Trap Card

If you control a "Veilwarden" monster you can activate this card the turn it was set.
Activate this card by targeting 1 monster you control: it gains 1000 ATK, it cannot change its battle position, and it is unaffected by other card effects (except its own) until the end of the turn. When it leaves the field, if you control a "Veilwarden" monster: target one card your opponent controls, send it and this card to the GY.
You can only activate 1 "Darkest Shadow Spell" per turn.

Fiery Fiendish Chain

Continuous Trap Card

If you control no monsters or only "Veilwarden" monsters you can activate this card from your hand.
Activate only when you opponent activates a monster effect in their hand: negate the activation, and while this card remains face-up on the field, your opponent cannot activate the effects of cards with the same name in their hand, GY, or on their field.
During the Endphase: If you do not control a face-up "Veilwarden" monster or a face-up"Shadow Spell" or "Fiendish Chain" Trap Card (besides this card), destroy this card.
If this card is banished: Target one card your opponent controls or that is in their GY; they cannot activate effects of cards with the same name as the targeted card until the end of the next turn. You can only activate this effect of "Fiery Fiendish Chain" once per turn.

Infernal Fiendish Chain

Continuous Trap Card

If you control a "Veilwarden" monster you can activate this card the turn it was set.
Target 1 "Shadow Spell" or "Fiendish Chain" Continuous Trap Card besides "Infernal Fiendish Chain" that is in your GY or Banishment: return it to the Deck; this card's effect becomes that card's activated effect while face-up on the field.
You can banish this card from your GY: Special Summon 1 "Veilwarden" monster from your GY but return it to your hand during the Endphase.

Now, the Main Deck monsters.

While this card is in the GY, except for the turn it was sent there, if a "Shadow Spell" or "Fiendish Chain" Trap Card is activated: you can Special Summon this card in Defense Position and it cannot be destroyed by battle. Link-2 DARK Fairy/Link/Effect, ATK 2000

2 Dark Fairy monsters or 1 "Veilwarden" monster + 1 face-up Continuous Trap Card

Once per turn (Quick Effect): If you control a face-up Continuous Trap Card, you can destroy 1 card your opponent controls.
If the effect of a "Shadow Spell" or "Fiendish Chain" Trap Card on your field is activated:
● This card cannot be targeted by your opponent's card effects until the end of the turn.
● Special Summon 1 Lv 4 or lower "Veilwarden" monster from you deck.
Each of the above effects can only be activated once per turn.

Lastly, the only Spell Card, a Field Spell that is admittedly not that strong.

Veilwarden Chain Armory

Field Spell

When this card is activated: add 1 "Shadow Spell"  or "Fiendish Chain" Trap Card from your Deck to your hand.
Once per turn when a "Shadow Spell" or "Fiendish Chain" is sent to the GY while you control a "Veilwarden" monster: you can target 1 card in your opponent's Spell/Trap zone; its effects cannot be activated while you control a "Veilwarden" monster.

Lore:

Souls leaving this world, bound for planes beyond, must first cross the Veil. This barrier protects the world of the living from the the Beings from the Beyond. These nightmare creatures attempt to force their way into the world of the living, but are thwarted by protectors of the realm - The Veilwardens.  These angelic denizens of the Veil contain the horrors Beyond, fighting against an endless tide of incursions. However, over the millennia, the constant struggle against the hordes, with no reprieve or reinforcement, has become more difficult, leading the Veilwardens to use darker magics to contain their charges. Slowly these forces of shadow have corrupted their wielders, turning the beings of light into something crueler, something without compassion or empathy. Now the souls that pass through the Veil, the ones that witness the battles between the fiends from Beyond and the Veilwardens, they wonder which is truly worse, the nameless evils Beyond, or their jailers.

Notes:

Each of the Monster Cards names refers to a batardization of an angel from various religions around the world.

This deck, while having the resources to shut down monster effects in the hand, graveyard, and on the field, is somewhat vulnerable to backrow.  It is however, in a bit of an oversight, synergistic with several floodgates that ate Continuous Traps. The worst offender in my opinion would be Anti-Spell Fragrance. I did not intend for this to be the case, but after making the cards realized it may be a balance issue.
