Deciding to follow through in your search for the loud sound's source you start to ascend the spiral staircase. As you climb you stare into the machinery and begin to wonder what purpose all of it serves. You have yet to see an output or anything resembling a function of all this movement. 

After a few minutes of walking up the stairs, you come upon another catwalk, with a massive chunk gouged out of it that, were it not for the missing segment, leads to a door identical to the one you seem to have used to enter this building. The staircase goes further up.

Check around the floor, see if I can find something useful.

Examining the floor around you, there seems to be nothing that you could grab except for an especially loose bar of metal that is part of the handrails near the hole in the walkway. You could try to rip it off, though you don't know how strong your mechanical arms are.

It would be good to have something to defend myself (ourselves since we are all playing together XD). I try to rip it off.

You pull hard at the bar in an attempt to free it from its current duties as a handrail.

HEADS 

As you tug a bolt shakes loose from the bar and it is released from the handrail. You now have a hollow metal bar with a jagged end.
