Official Rules of the Role Playing section

Umbra

Recommended Posts

These are the official rules of Role Playing on this forum. If any of these rules are broken, and this is reported via PM to me, the owner of the roleplay will recieve a warning. If the rule-breaking does not stop within 24 hours, the thread will be instantly locked.

1: A person can not host more than 2 Role-Plays at a time. This is to prevent spam. If you currently host more than 2 Role-Plays, you can send me a PM and I will give you permission to host 4 RPs in total. If you host more than 4, the least active ones will be locked.

2: If you are a member of an RP, and wish to tell someone that is not RP-related, write OoC (Out of Character) before the sentence(s). This is to make it easier to comprehend the post. Not using OoC when talking of non-rpical matters is a valid excuse for reporting a post.

3: If you are a member of an RP, or the host of an RP where you are an active member, you must never commit so-called ”god-moding”. Which means, you can not make your character invincible and you can not make it succeed all the time. If this is reported, the poster will be given 24 hours to change the post, or the post will be deleted.

[spoiler=Examples of Godmoding]

- Controlling an NPC or a DMC.

- Controlling a player's character without the agreement of said player.

- Finding objects that have not been mentioned before.

- Use information that your character doesn't know, such as the thoughts of an enemy.

4: In the first post of the Role Play, the host must post a brief synopsis of the plot, what the RP will be about and where it is set. In the title of the role-play, the host must specify whether it is a Role-Play (an RP) or a Role-Playing Game (RPG). An RP does not use any stats, while an RPG does. The RPG is generally more host-controlled, while an RP is more player-controlled. Any breakage of the above rules will lead to a warning, and a thread-lock 24 hours later.

5: If you are not a member of the Role Play, and do not wish to join it, you should not post in the thread. If you are not accepted to the Role Play when you wish to join, settle it with the thread-poster via PM's. Do not post in the thread. If any of these rules are broken, the posts will be deleted without warning.

6. Sign-up threads are not appreciated, but will not count towards the two-thread limit. However, I would appreciate if you didn't use them. Preferably, all sign-ups should be handled via PM. A sign-up thread will be locked when the Roleplay starts. Any submissions after that should either be handled via PM, or the owner of the Roleplay sends me a PM to unlock the thread.

7. If you as creator of an RP wish to add a custom rule to your RP, such as "all applications must be handled via PM", this must be done in the first post - or the title - of the thread in question.

If you follow the above rules, you should not have any trouble with this. And the cake isn't a lie.

Thanks to Chaos_Remix, for original thought behind most of the rules.

The first rule is, as said, to prevent spam. If even two or three were to flood the RP section with four or five RP's that they try to hold active, there would be too much to handle. I think that the upper limit at 2 is a good one.

^^You're the godmodder, fool. Just so you don't continually spam this thread with rebuttals, I might as well cinch the case by saying that your idea of fighting is to defeat the enemy with a single, all-powerful attack that no one else can possibly match.

Yddisac, you do like to be the villain, but I respect that, since it makes things more fun and interesting. Stardust, you have to admit that you do make yourself very powerful, like in SDL when you made up "Doreelzemon" and wanting to start off with BantyoLeomon originally in Final Revolution, but then Yddisac also turns very powerful. Basically, you two balance out a Roleplay.

They shouldnt even get close to that powerful in the first place, in a rp everyone should be equal in strength unless they are a normal person, there are a total of 12 god moders, trust me, I used to be a god moder I know how to tell one.

Nice rules, but about the 3rd one, I am planning to make an RP where the Millennium Items have a great role, and things like 'Invisibility' might happen.

And no, I did not misread 'Invincibility', but I see them both as GM.

So, is it ok if GM occurs for a good reason?

Once the RP has started, the sign-up thread is completely unnecessary and clutters up the forum. It's simple: A sign-up thread handles all submissions before the start, PM's do the rest. Sign-up threads should actually not be used at all, in my opinion.

RPs involve several players acting as their own characters in a setting designated by the creator.

Fanfictions are online novels based on existing media.
