Rongaulius
"Structure Deck: Rokket Revolt" was the deck I started playing when I first got into Yugioh, and Dragon Link is my go-to deck to this day. Unfortunately, the deck is now quite dated with the only "Rokket" cards being played in modern Dragon Link being Striker Dragon & Boot Sector Launch, Quick Launch, Tracer, usually a copy of Recharger, and MAYBE a Caliber. It's no more than a small engine at best. The deck has been power-crept into oblivion by Bystial, etc. Rokkets have some neat mechanics, but the support for them is inconsistent and/or outright bad. The spell cards outside of Boot Sector are unsearchable; Squib Draw and Bayonet Punisher aren't bad cards, and Borrel Regenerator is a card the deck would love to have easy access to. Sadly, you're stuck hard-drawing those cards. The main-deck monsters have some unique effects, but in order to make full use of them you need to end on a board of at least two Borrel Links and at least two Rokkets. Borreload Savage Dragon just isn't enough by himself and cannot proc the effects of the Rokkets, and while Borreload, Borrelsword, and Borrelend are strong, they each need a Rokket on field to be able to get full value out of their effects. The long and short of it is that Rokkets are a few decent cards away from being a rogue-level threat, but they just aren't there. The deck can't search its powerful spells and can't usually field the resources needed to make its full-power end board. How to fix that? Bladerokket Dragon – Dragon/Effect, DARK, 4*, ATK 2100, DEF 0. Cannot be Normal Summoned. Must be Special Summoned by a card effect. If this card is in your hand or GY (Quick Effect): You can destroy 1 “Rokket” monster you control, and if you do, Special Summon this card. You can only Summon “Bladerokket Dragon” once per turn this way. If this card is sent to the GY as Link Material for the Summon of a “Borrel” Link Monster, you can Set 1 “Bayonet Punisher” from your Deck or GY. That card can be activated this turn if you control a “Borrel” Link monster. You can only use this effect of “Bladerokket Dragon” once per turn. Rokket Trigger – Dragon/Effect, DARK, 1*, ATK 100, DEF 2200. You can discard this card; add 1 “Borrel” Spell/Trap from your Deck or GY to your hand. A DARK Dragon Link Monster that was Link Summoned using this card as Material gains this effect: Once per turn (Quick Effect): You can target 1 monster on the field; that target gains 300 ATK. We'll start off with a couple searchers for the deck's Spell/Trap cards. Bladerokket helps you destroy your Rokkets on the field and also lets you find Bayonet or else recover it from the GY. Trigger, on the other hand, lets you search out Borrel Regenerator or Borrel Supplier (usually Regenerator). Borrel Cooling is another card you could search, but...there's no reason to search Borrel Cooling. Ever. It sucks. Trigger also gives any dark dragon link monster the potential to trigger the effects of your Rokkets on field. Speaking of spell cards to search: Borrel Sector Control – Continuous Spell. Once per turn, you can return 1 “Rokket” or “Borrel” monster from your GY to the Deck or Extra Deck, then send 1 DARK Dragon monster from your Deck or Extra Deck to the GY. You can destroy 1 DARK Dragon monster in your hand or field; place 1 “Link Turret” from your hand, Deck, or GY face-up in your Spell/Trap Zone, and if you do, place 3 counters on it. You can only use each effect of “Borrel Sector Control” once per turn. Recovering from a broken board is an area Rokkets really struggle. Recharger does a decent job on its own, but it isn't enough. Borrel Sector Control is designed to let you recycle your 1-of's in the GY while also helping load the GY with the monsters you actually want there. It also gives access to Link Turret, which is something the deck doesn't necessarily need but certainly wouldn't mind having in some situations. Rokket Suppressor – Dragon/Effect, DARK, 2*, ATK 200, DEF 2100. You can equip this card from your hand or GY to 1 DARK Dragon monster you control. The equipped monster loses 200 ATK, also your opponent cannot activate cards or effects in response to that monster’s effect activations. If this card is sent to the GY as Link Material for the Summon of a DARK Dragon Link monster, you can Special Summon 1 Level 3 or 4 “Rokket” monster from your Deck, and if you do, negate the effects of all monsters you control, except Dragon monsters. You can only resolve this effect of “Rokket Suppressor” once per Duel. This card's main purpose is to help the deck make more than one big monster in a turn. It does make you be more careful about what you have on the field before using its effect, as it will turn anything other than dragons into blanks should you use its SS-from-Deck effect, but beyond that it's an extender that will also help power through interruption. I originally had it where the SS effect could only be used once per turn, but it seemed like an effect that would be all too easy to bust wide open. That effect was changed to only being able to resolve once per Duel. If your opponent negates the activation once, you can still try to use it again and again until it resolves...but after it resolves once, you're done. It's still a powerful effect, but without the ability to be spammed turn after turn. That mostly wraps up the main deck. The Extra Deck contains some decent payoffs, but nothing that's really remarkable at this point in the Yugioh TCG. Sabot Dragon – Dragon/Link/Effect, DARK, Link-2, ATK 1200, Arrows BC, TC. 2 Dragon monsters. If this card is Link Summoned, you can equip this card with 1 “Borrel” monster from your GY. You can shuffle “Rokket” monsters from your GY into the Deck, equal to the Link Rating or Level of 1 “Borrel” monster card in your Spell/Trap Zone; Special Summon that monster from your Spell/Trap Zone, then you can place 2 “Borrel Counters” on that monster. If it would be destroyed by battle or card effect, you can remove 1 “Borrel Counter” from anywhere on the field, instead. You can only use each effect of “Sabot Dragon” once per turn. Sabot has arrows the deck wants that aren't attached to Dillingerous Dragon. It also provides some desperately-needed resurgence for Borrel monsters after they've been cooked, even being able to revive Borreload Savage Dragon and give it access to its omni-negate again. If you play your normal Rokket combo and are using Guardragon Pisty, you should be able to easily set up this card and use Pisty's revive effect. Borrelcode Savage Dragon – Dragon/Synchro/Effect, DARK, 7*, ATK 2800, DEF 2300. 1 Tuner + 1+ non-Tuner monster(s). While this card is the only monster you control, it is unaffected by an opponent’s cards and effects and cannot be Tributed. You can only use the following effects of “Borrelcode Savage Dragon” once per turn. (Quick Effect:) You can target 1 “Rokket” or “Borrel” monster in your GY; equip that monster to this card as an Equip Spell that gives this card 700 ATK/DEF. (Quick Effect:) You can destroy 1 card you control; destroy 1 card your opponent controls, and if you do, negate its effects. If this card is destroyed or sent to the GY by an opponent’s card: You can Special Summon 1 non-Synchro “Borrel” Monster from your Deck or Extra Deck, ignoring its Summoning conditions, but return it to the hand during the End Phase. This card provides an alternative to Borreload Savage Dragon that has several key differences. First of all, its effects aren't tied to an on-Summon activation. It also lets you blow up cards and then negate their effects, protecting against cards such as Mirrorjade or other cards that can ruin your day even if you take them off the field. And in the event Borrelcode Savage is the only monster you control, your opponent is forced to take it out in battle. They'll need 3500 ATK points to do so, which is tough for some decks but not impossible. And this card by itself isn't really enough to win a game. The last major selling point of this card is that it floats into another monster if it gets nuked. Moving on to the last card in this post: Borrelrail Dragon – Dragon/Link/Effect, DARK, Link-4, ATK 3000. Arrows RC, BR, LC, BL. 3+ Effect monsters. Unaffected by card effects that do not target it. Once per turn (Quick Effect): You can move this card to an unoccupied Main Monster Zone you control, then, if this effect was activated in response to an opponent’s card or effect that targeted a card(s) you control, this card and any cards it points to are unaffected by that opponent’s card effect. Once per turn, during the End Phase: You can destroy all cards your opponent controls in this card’s Column. You can only control 1 “Borrelrail Dragon”. With the current prevalence of non-targeting removal/negation, Borrelrail Dragon is a hard counter to decks that get rid of your cards by non-targeting means. It also has a once-per-turn ability to dodge (literally!) an opponent's card effect that targeted this card, by moving itself to another unoccupied Main Monster Zone you control, and it also protects anything it points to. On top of which, if you play your columns carefully, you can potentially take out 2 or even 3 of your opponent's cards after using this effect. One thing I've tried very hard to do with this round of support is to STAY AWAY FROM NEGATES. Yugioh doesn't need more negates. Technically my Borrelcode Savage Dragon does have a negate, but it works in reverse of most effects that negate and then destroy; it destroys and then negates. Rokkets have access to Borreload Savage as an omni-negate, and that's plenty. Revolver's strategy centered around blowing stuff up with big dragons, not stopping his opponent from playing. His whole play style effectively boiled down to "screw you, I have big dragons that are also guns". This support tries to stay true to the original character deck. Thoughts and opinions are welcome. If you actually read through this post in its entirety, bravo. Cheers.
