(2) If your monster that mentions “Gold Sarcophagus of Light” battles, during damage calculation: You can banish this card from your GY; end the Battle Phase.

LEDE-JP054 Mirai he no Chinmoku (Silence Towards the Future)

You can only activate 1 card with this card’s name per turn.
(1) Add 1 monster from your Deck to your hand that mentions “Gold Sarcophagus of Light”, then, if you activated this card during the Battle Phase while you controlled “Gold Sarcophagus of Light” and a monster that mentions it, each player draws cards until they have 6 cards in their hand.

LEDE-JP071 Kakushi Toride Strong Hold (Stronghold the Hidden Fortress)
Trap/Continuous
(1) Special Summon this card as an Effect Monster (Machine/EARTH/Level 4/ATK 0/DEF 2000) with these effects (this card is also still a Trap).
● Gains 1000 ATK for each card you control that is “Gold Sarcophagus of Light” or a monster that mentions it.
● Once per turn, when an opponent’s monster declares an attack and you control “Gold Sarcophagus of Light”: You can destroy that monster.

[The Highlander]

Definitely an interesting take on the "true king of games" and a nice reference to the final game of the original series. As an archetype this is also much more interesting than the Magician Girl archetype.

Gold Sarcophagus of Light also makes sense as the linchpin of the archetype, given that it is a reference to the box containing the millenium puzzle. The importance for the deck is also very similar to that of Toon World and Golden Castle of Stromberg for their respective archetypes/themes. Similar to Golden Castle of Stromgberg this card also comes with its own searcher (in this case a Stratos-alike monster [Tricolore Gadget]), which is much better than Glife the Phantom Bird.

Geas Gandora the Dragon of Destruction not being able to destroy Gold Sarcophagus of Light is also quite important, especially since Geas Gandora can tutor any of the other monsters. What is interesting about this is that Geas Gandora can tutor level 7 or lower monsters out of the deck, while the only monsters apart from Geas Gandora are level 4 or lower, meaning that could imply some further support down the line (although I am unsure about which).

Ties of Friendship is also a nice payoff for using the deck and Tricolore Gadget can setup an advantage generator + 2 Special Summons from the deck by first searching Gold Sarcophagus of Light, which searches Ties of Friendship.

 

Overall these are nice (and not a disappointment [unlike the Gandora archetype I was expecting]), but they lack more incentives to play them. None of the cards are bad, but also few of them actually work as good enough payoffs to bother with the archetype/theme. It is unfortunate that Geas Gandora cannot use its mass destruction effect as a quick effect, since that would have been a decent enough incentive.

Kinda what I would have hoped would have appeared in Dark Side of Dimensions considering Mahad and Mana should be resting with Atem, be it Yugi's favorite card or not.
This is nice. Looking forward to these more than I've been for most releases this year xD
