CoreyW
Hey everyone, first post here in probably 10 years (though back then I went by a completely different name and forgot even the username, hence the new account) and its about my new custom archetype, X/D! X/D is an archetype designed around the banished pile. There are 3 kinds of monsters in the X/D archetype: Automata, Peacekeepers, and Lords Automata are machines that summon themselves from the Deck when an X/D monster is shuffled back into the Deck from the banished pile. Only one Automata can be summoned per Chain, but when they're summoned, they can banish 1 "X/D" monster you control and one monster or spell/trap your opponent controls. They don't like to go to the GY, instead when they leave the field, they're shuffled back into the Deck. Peacekeepers are warriors that summon themselves from the hand adjacent to an empty Monster Zone. (This will be important later) On summon, they banish an X/D card from the Deck for cost to search for either an "X/D" monster or spell/trap. Similarly, they don't just leave the field normally, and go back to the hand instead. Lords are the tyrants that govern everything under the X/D domain. They can summon themselves adjacent to two "X/D" monsters from the hand. They also are totally unaffected by activated card effects when there are "X/D" monsters around them. They also can *twice per turn* negate a monster effect or Spell/Trap. If they're on the field, they banish themselves to negate. If they're banished, they shuffle back into the Deck to negate. They also don't just go to the GY when they die, instead they just banish themselves. They're the center of the control strategy of the archetype, and your strategy revolves around making sure these guys are either on your field or banished before you end your turn. That's not all for the monsters, though. They have a Link-1 monster that forces your opponents to go through the monster they're pointing to, and can recover resources from the banished pile by banishing different cards from the Deck. They don't do much on their own, but with X/D cards on the field, all adjacent X/D monsters are treated as being co-linked. This means you can U-Link your opponent by using only two Link monsters! Sounds too good to be true, right? Well there's a catch with every deck. This one happens to really hate playing with others. You can't have monsters on your field other than "X/D" monsters, and they operate as a source of self-floodgate similar to Gozen or Rivalry or TCBOO. This means your opponent can't just Kaiju over your monsters, either, so there's a small upside. Tentatively, here's the archetype (DB decklist): https://www.duelingbook.com/deck?id=13606892
