Hello fellow newbie!

I think the first part, "Only activate if you control an Insect monster", is not necessary, as the effect requires one of the Insect monsters you control to be targeted (so you need to control an Insect monster anyways). Next, I would write the effect as "When an opponent activates a Trap card that targets 1 (or more, depending on what you want the card to do, I think it's no problem if you can protect multiple monsters) Insect monster you control: negate the activation; and if you do, destroy it and inflict 200 damage (nowadays it's not necessary to specify things like "effect damage" or "to your opponent's LP") to your opponent...".

Another point would be that I think the protection could be upgraded to Spells/Traps and not only Traps, the effect itself is not that powerful. Also, inflicting damage to the opponent for each Insect monster they destroyed could be tricky, but it probably won't be problematic by the time this card would be activated, so I guess it's alright.

So the issues are with the writing of the card and not with the effect itself? Also, the Spells/Traps recommendation is good, I'll def include that in my next Counter Trap idea
