New elemental hero

Recommended Posts

Hey there,

First of all, please move this to the Casual Cards subforum.

The general appearance of the card is somewhat interesting, as it combines the opposites of light and darkness in an interesting way as splitting the colors in the artwork, but it would probably rather fit into the Evil HERO or Destiny HERO archetype.

For the effect I'm not only confused by your attempt on PSCT, but also your grammar and mixing up keywords like "resolve" and "activate". I interprete the effect as following:

Quote

Condition: Once per turn, during your Main Phase 1

Cost / Targeting ( on activation ): Reveal a face-down Spell/Trap you control ( and target 1 face-up monster )

Effect ( resolution ):
● change all face-down Defense Position monsters your opponent controls to face-up Attack Position, then half their ATK (until the End Phase?)
OR
● The targeted monster cannot attack, activate its effects, be used as a Tribute or change its Battle Position, also neither player can target this card with card effects until your next Standby Phase.

Obviously you have a wrong impression of what "resolution" means. This doesn't describe the reset timing for an effect, but the time where it actually happens ( or resolves ).

So when you write

Quote

After this effect resolves, their ATK becomes their original ATK.

That means as soon as the chain resolved ( the effect happens ), the ATK change is reverted. If you want to clarify when the change resets, just word it like
"their ATK is halfed until the End Phase".

I have absolutely no idea, what you think "when" means in this context:

"This monster cannot be targeted when using this effect".

"When" is usually a keyword for a trigger timing, as in "When a card is sent to the GY: You can ...", that means after the trigger occured ( a card was sent to the GY ), you enter an activation window for that trigger effect before entering an open gamestate again. During the time window you use ( resolve ) a card effect, neither player can activate any cards or effects, so neither card can ever be targeted while using an effect.

If you were trying to target the time window after activating the effect, but before resolving it, to prevent your opponent from chaining an effect that targets this card to this effect, you would have to use a clause like this: "Your opponent cannot activate an effect that targets this card in response to this effect's activation."

But these are some very unconventional cases to cover in PSCT ( Problem Solving Card Text ) discussions. Before you try and aim for effects that introduce new mechanics or timing windows in the game, you should try to get a feel for the general usage of PSCT.

Here is the basic form how 99% of all effects should be written down:

Condition / Trigger Timing ":" Activation Window ( Cost / Targeting ) ";" Resolving window ( effect ) .

When building a chain, you always check everything in front of the ":" before flipping the card face-up, you do everything before the ";" immediately after flipping the card, then the other player has a window to chain a Spell Speed 2 or higher effect, and you resolve the effect - everything after the ";" or everything after the ":" if there is no ";" - when resolving the chain backwards.

Until you understand how the game mechanics function and get a feel for how to precisely describe your effects in PSCT, I would recommend to look at official cards with similar effects when wording your customs and sticking to the Casual Customs subforum until you are confident with your wording.

Greets,

Messoras
