EmCee411
This is my second batch of Rokket/Borrel custom cards. Only the first one is new, the other four I made almost a year ago, and have made some changes to since then. I felt like I covered my bases pretty well with that first batch, so making a full second batch felt unnecessary. The one new card addresses a new problem that has cropped up with the archetype since that original post, and that problem's name is Borrelend Dragon. But I'll get into that in a bit. First up is Topologic Borrelisk. It follows the naming convention of Trisbaena and Zeroboros by being a portmanteau of a topology term and a mythological serpent, in this case it crosses Borel set with basilisk. The concept of combining Topologic and Borrel card design was attempted with Borrelcode Dragon, but frankly, it utterly failed in every regard. Borrelisk combines the limited protection and spell speed 4 targeting of a Borrel monster with the non-OPT mandatory Link-zone-triggering effect of a Topologic. I made this one because the existence of Borrelend effectively killed the viability of the Rokket control play style, as its effect is better used on the opponent's card than your own Rokkets, and the most common line to bring it out requires you to burn through your Dillingerous Dragon's revival effect right away, trading off that potential follow-up for a Borreload Savage Dragon. It essentially turns the deck into Borrelend Dragon turbo, and that's boring. To solve this, Borrelisk fully leans into the Rokket control play style like no other Borrel has. By summoning a Rokket to the zone it points to, it can effectively rapid fire multiple Rokket effects in quick succession, so long as you're GY is sufficiently set up. To balance this, the trigger to use this effect is the same as a typical Topologic Link 4, meaning most of the time, you'll only be able to manually trigger it once per turn by using Rokket Tracer. Additionally, although the Rokkets that get triggered by Borrelisk won't be banished by its effect, they still will be restricted, meaning not only will they not be able to float in the End Phase, but if you go through every Rokket you have, Borrelisk's effect won't be able to resolve should the opponent make link plays. This way, it rewards both waiting for the right moment to get as much value out of multiple Rokket effects at once, and not blowing your entire load all at once. The summoning and effect restriction also works to prevent it from being used for infinite Link material the way Firewall Dragon was. Twinborrel is a cheaper way to get the Rokket/Borrel combo live, with the tradeoff being that it can only use it's effect twice. It also floats should it be destroyed, allowing fir follow-up on the next turn. I've updated it so that it's also able to target Link monsters, which is relevant because of the next card. Primerrokket Dragon functions the same as other Rokket Dragons, but instead of disrupting the opponent, it searches Borrel cards. It's been updated to search any Borrel card, rather than just spells/traps, adding Borreload Riot Dragon to the search pool. Borrel Munitions was the crown jewel of my previous post. It solves the problem of Rokkets not having a way to "reload" their monsters back into the deck to be used again, while also keeping them in the GY for cards like Boot Sector Launch and Quadborrel Dragon. It also gives the deck an archetypal Foolish Burial for cards like Double Disruptor Dragon and Absorouter Dragon, but while it's up, you're locked into summoning DARKs, so a D-Link deck that plays it is more inclined to make actual Rokket plays. The only update to this card was changing it from affecting "Rokket Dragon" monsters to just "Rokket" monsters, so it now affects Tracer as well. Thunder Borrel Cannon functions either as a disruption going first or spot removal going second. It copies any "Rokket Dragon" effect in the GY by shuffling that card into the deck, which, with the existence of Borrel Munitions, is more of a cost than it sounds like. With this, it can be a non-targeting, non-destruction removal of any card, destroy cards in its column, destroy monsters that are next to each other, negate a monster effect, banish a monster from the Extra Deck, burn both players for 2000, or search a Borrel card. Its effect is very versatile, but also dependant on what you have in your GY, and is only OPT. It's GY effect has been updated to recover Boot Sector Launch in addition to Borrel Spells/Traps, finally giving the deck a means to recover their field spell, and thus making popping it with Tracer a more viable option. Also note, even if Borrelisk prevents you from using the effects of your Rokket monsters, you can still copy them with this, as you're technically not activating that monster's effect. In mathematics, a Borel set is any set in a topological space that can be formed from open sets (or, equivalently, from closed sets) through the operations of countable union, countable intersection, and relative complement.
