Deck building and Testing a Custom Archetype

Now that making a mechanic for an archetype is out of the way, let's get into deck building and testing custom archetypes on DuelingBook.  Here are the simplest steps one can take to making a build of that custom archetype for testing.  You could also use these techniques for making support that helps your existing archetypes.

  1. Pick a custom archetype on DB.  In that custom archetype, find its searchers and starters- run these at 3 copies because you definitely want 3 copies of these cards in your hand, as the searcher is everything that you need and the starter is whatever helps you set up your plays.
  2. Now depending on the custom archetype, look for existing TCG support if any.  For example, existing Ritual support could help with a custom Ritual archetype.  Cynet Mining helps with custom Cyberse archetypes.  Hidden Armoury can help with Equip Spell searching.
  3. For that same custom archetype, look at the other cards besides the searchers and starters.  Usually you want to run 2-3 copies depending on how they assist with the custom archetype (i.e. if they are situational, it's best to run 0-1 copies of that card)
  4. For the Extra Deck of said custom archetype, try to not run 3 copies of every card.  Keep in mind that some ED monsters in said custom archetype aren't very good.

In some cases, the custom archetype can be meshed with other cards.  For example, depending on how it's built, one can supplement it with an engine like Shaddoll.
