Tinkerer
Hello, fine peoples! Was playing some counter fairies on edopro and I figured I'd toss 'em some support cards. There's... a lot that's needed to fix the strategy, and there's a ton of overlap between Counter Fairy and Herald/Agents/The Sanctuary in the Sky. However most of those don't actually do much to help CF. I decided to focus on buffing the connection between CF and Sanctuary in the Sky while adding a bit to certain "fairy lore". I'm also gonna explain my design thought process for each card. So without further ado, onto the cards! Quote Youngknight Parshath LIGHT **** Fairy/Effect This card inflicts piercing damage. Each time this card inflicts battle damage to your opponent, immediately after damage calculation, you can banish 1 LIGHT Fairy or 1 "Parshath" card from your Deck. If this card leaves the field by an opponent's card: You can target 1 banished LIGHT Fairy, Counter Trap, or "Parshath" card; Set that target to your field. If this card is sent to the GY while you control "The Sanctuary in the Sky", you can Special Summon this card. You can only use this effect of "Youngknight Parshath" once per turn. 1900/0 A new age retrain of a classic. Honestly, this was made with the Special Summon effect in mind first before remembering that Parshath should have Parshath effects. The card should help with banish play a little, but more importantly, the card is an extender that can immediately allow Fairies to access Celestial Knightlord Parshath via Protector of the Agents Moon. Other than that, the Special Summon effect should give the deck a bit more flexibility. Agatha, Savant of the Sky LIGHT **** Fairy/Effect You can banish 1 Counter Trap from your GY to Special Summon this card (from your hand). Each time a Counter Trap Card is activated, immediately after it resolves, Special Summon 1 Level 4 LIGHT Fairy monster from your hand or Deck, but it cannot activate its effects on the field. Once per turn: You can send 1 Counter Trap from your Deck to the GY; this card gains 300 ATK. You can only control 1 "Agatha, Savant of the Sky". 1800/100 Continuing the extension train, Agatha is another monster that SS's itself. A huge flaw with CF is they are a control deck with a very limited means of actually gaining advantage. It's really difficult to get the deck's monsters on the field in multiples so they'd actually be able to compound their effects. While a possible infinite summons from this card can be dangerous, the restriction on this card means that you'll only ever gain major advantage from CF (since they don't actually activate), and it's still locked behind an unfortunately annoying condition. Glory of Parshath Counter Trap When your opponent does one of the following, you can pay 1000 LP to activate this card. - Adds 1 card from their Deck to their hand (except by drawing); they must shuffle that card into their Deck. - Declares an attack; negate that attack, then gain LP equal to that monster's ATK. - Activates a card effect except on the field; negate the activation, then shuffle that card into the Deck. When this card is sent to the GY: Special Summon 1 Fairy monster from your Deck or GY, but if you control no "Parshath" monsters, you can only Special Summon "Parshath" monsters with this effect. Next up is a conditional, but flexible Counter Trap that actually nets you advantage. It's a pretty clear mix between a whole bunch of cards/ideas, but for the most part, it should be fairly easy to activate with a fairly light cost to trigger your effects. The GY effect is more extension, but it can help you keep advantage when you use Counter Traps that discard. Master Parshath, Seraph of the Sky LIGHT R**** Fairy/Xyz/Effect 2+ Level 4 Fairy monsters Neither player can activate monster effects as Chain Link 2 or higher. If you control "The Sanctuary in the Sky", only your opponent cannot activate monster effects as Chain Link 2 or higher. This card gains 200 ATK for each of its Xyz Materials. If a card(s) you control would be destroyed, you can detach 1 Material from this card instead. Each time a Counter Trap is activated, immediately after it resolves, you can attach 1 banished Fairy monster or 1 Fairy monster from your GY to this card as Material. 2300/2000 Speaking of Parshath~ They've got a Synchro and a Link form, why not add an Xyz form? This one is kinda the glue for the whole deck. The key effect is the floodgate effect. It heavily restricts almost any strategy, but for Counter Fairies in particular, it fixes the big problem of your opponent chain blocking their effects. On top of that, it offers protection and grows stronger each time something is countered. As a Parshath card, it can be summoned/revived via the Parshath Counter Traps. Seeker of Zera EARTH Link: S Fairy/Link/Effect 1 non-Link monster that lists "The Sanctuary in the Sky" in its effect Once per turn: You can Special Summon 1 Fairy monster from your hand, then, if you control "The Sanctuary in the Sky", you can send 1 monster with the same name from your Deck to the GY. If you activate a Counter Trap card while this card is in the GY: You can Special Summon this card, but banish it when it leaves the field. 1000/LINK-1 My favorite one from a lore perspective. A link 1 that should help every strat that uses Sanctuary by giving them a nice way to extend into the the Moon Agent. That effect should be particularly helpful for Agents, but the secondary effect is exclusively for Counter Fairy. Lorewise, I made the first effect act kinda like the card "Next to be Lost". Zera here is still seeking the Sanctuary. He's close (hence the Fairy typing), but not there yet (hence the EARTH type), however, he is still completely capable of falling if he's not careful. I feel like these cards are pretty bloated, but... Counter Fairies really need all the help they can get. I'm still tempted to make like 2-3 more cards, but I've gotta draw a line somewhere and this seems... fine. As always, comments and critique much appreciated! Cheers~
WhiteThunder777
Hmm, Trap based decks are good going 1st. You have to set them up on your turn and then use that to control the opponent's actions. If you want to draw the line somewhere, ask yourself, can my opponent play against me with all these support? Absolutely. I recognize the effects are a lot stronger than I'd give to most decks when making support, but even with all this stuff the deck is nowhere near as oppressive as others. Looking at an ideal scenario, you'd have Agatha + like 3 Counter Traps + "The Sacred Waters in the Sky", and you'd be going first. In that case, yeah your opponent might not be able to break through (depending on the Counter Traps). ...however, there is no way to make sure you open that ideal scenario. As I was playing the deck, I realized that... The opening hands tend to suck. You'd open up hands with no counter traps, hands with no monsters, hands with no ways to get to Sanctuary, etc. Quite often you'd have a hand with 1 Counter Fairy and 1 Counter Trap which... Isn't enough to help in the modern game. So you can take the design in 2 directions: increasing the consistency of Counter Fairies (in this case, better opening hands), or increasing the power/versatility of the deck (which is what I did).
