Yusandra jetesa
An idea i had for a summoning mechanic that would make equip spells good: upgrade summoning. looks: its a golden holographic color with a silver star representing a level, on the top left is an “armament level: number” how it works: it works almost exactly like xyz summoning however instead of 2 or more monsters of the same level being overlayed, its 1 monster with 1 or more equip spells equipped to it overlayed on that monster, this process is refered to as augmented. Even though the equip spells are no longer in the spell/trap card zone (protecting the augmented equip spells from back row destruction), the upgrade monster is still treated as if the augmented equip spells are equipped to it and the augmented equiped spell card still has its effect activated for that monster. Upgrade monsters have effects that use the equip spells as payment (Much like xyz monsters) in addition to the equip spells effects. If you were to equip another equip spell to an upgrade monster you may augment that spell as upgrade material, but only up to the number of spells equal to the armament level. The summoning conditions of monsters and the number of equip spells needed are written where it normally is for extra deck monsters, if the monster needs a specific monster or equip spell to summon it, it will be written in quotations. These cards are able to be pendulum monsters, working just like other extra summoning mechanic type pendulum monsters. The pendulum summoned monster from the extra deck face up is weaker due to not being summoned with equip spells. Fairly General upgrade monster example Name: gear wizard level: 4 armament level: 5 (meaning 5 equip spells can be overlayed under it at once) typing: [spellcaster/upgrade/effect] summoning conditions: 1 level 4 or lower spellcaster type effect monster+ 2 equip spells Effect: each of your battle phases; this monster can attack a number of times equal to the number of augmented spell cards this monster has. if this monster would be destroyed, you may remove one augmented spell card instead. If the augmented spellcaster monster to this card would be removed, destroy this card then add all augmented spell cards this card had from your graveyard to your hand. attack: 2000 defense: 2000 example of a very specific upgrade monster Name: Gearfreid the Upgraded soul warrior Level: 9 Armament level 12 monster type: [warrior/upgrade/effect] Summoning conditions: “Gearfried the Swordmaster“+ 1 “Divine Sword - Phoenix Blade”+4 equip spells, including at least 2 equip spells that can only be equipped to warrior type monsters. Effect: any effects of augmented spell cards attached to this monster are applied to all warrior type monsters you control. This monster gains 300 attack and defense for every augmented spell card attached to it. This monster can attack an additional time per battle phase for every 3 augmented spell cards attached to it. If this monster would augment a spell card from the spell/trap card zone: you may destroy up to 2 card your opponent controls, but you can not activate your battle phase this turn. Up to twice per turn; If your opponent would activate a card effect (quick-effect); you may detach an augmented spell card from this monster: negate that cards effect. If this monster detaches an augmented “divine sword- pheonix blade”; that equip spells card effect can not be activated in the graveyard, however at your standby phase during your next turn after detaching that spell card from this monster; you may pay 1000 life points to augment that spell card and 1 additional equip spell in your graveyard of your opponents choice to this monster. attack: 3600 defense: 3400

KH911
This is really cool. I love seeing and discussing new summoning methods. Last year I made a summoning method called "Future Summoning" where after sending the materials to the GY, you have to wait x number of turns for the monster to be summoned. It had quite a bit of discussion around it until I stopped visiting this website. I always see people say things like "Yugioh has too many summoning mechanics" but I actually disagree. What makes the game complicated isn't how many summoning mechanics it has, if you look at those in a vacuum, they're all simple and fun (except for pendulums). The problem is the sheer amount of vague and unnecessary rules like missing timing, properly summoning, the essays of text on each card, etc. I also see the argument that "all summoning types already exist so we can't get a new one" but that just shows a lack of creativity. Like I stated earlier, you can have a summoning mechanic that requires waiting several turns, or this one where you use equip spells as materials, there can be one that banishes/shuffles back banished monsters as material, there are so many mechanics to take advantage of in this game that it's disingenuous to say we can't make anything new. Link summoning was lazy af and the worst thing to happen to the game (after pendulums), I wish Konami could actually be as creative as us when designing new cards/mechanics.
