Ionizing Drive

Normal Spell

Name 1 monster. Until the End Phase, monsters with that name gain the following effect.

- When your opponent activates a monster effect (Quick Effect): Tribute this card; negate that effect.

If a monster with the declared name is in your GY during the End Phase after this card was activated, you can banish this card from your GY; draw 1 card.

It's interesting the gained effect is mandatory. This is definitely well balanced, would be insane as a QP might still be awesome as a trap.

Thanks for the look!

Believe it or not, I didn't actually mean to make it a mandatory negate.  In fact, I'll probably wanna tweak a few things about this one (including the name).  The idea was kinda half-baked and designed from some comments that I'd read elsewhere.  Still, I did wanna share this concept and figured it could inspire some people's designs?

I like the fact that it's a mandatory negate because then you can name the opponent's monster and force them to tribute it at the cost of negating your own card.

This is interesting, but how would it work if multiple monsters with that name are on the field? (Ciphers, Harpies, Cyber Dragons etc.), wouldn't they all become swarm of Doomcalibers and chain themselves together the 1st time a monster effect is activated?

I think all of them would attempt to negate the first thing their opponent activates.
