TheDeckmaker
Hello guys. I decided to give Spirit Monsters some love. I noticed not many Spirit Monsters in the game are really played. Although they have pretty powerful effects, they are pretty hard to execute. And it would usually require you built a deck around them (Yata-garasu). Plus some were not just powerful enough. So I built my own Archetype that centres around Spirit Monsters and their ability to return to the hand. I call it the Yōkai Archetype. It acts like a Blue eyes or Dark Magician archetype in the sense that it centres around an ace monster which in this case is "Inari, The Kitsune Yōkai". The deck lore is centred around Shinto beliefs of the Yōkai and the Kami and how the Priests and Maidens can call them forth and serve as Spiritual mediums to these divinities. The boss monster is the level 12 Synchro though. She is a generic game closer. I dont mind... What do you guys think? Plus the mechanic is interesting. You can place and replace in your Pendulum zones to trigger effects. The Priests provide burn/attack damage. I could go on and on, but I will just let you see the cards... without further ado: THE YŌKAI ARCHETYPE Deck Monsters Inari, The Kitsune Yōkai We have the ace monster himself. I tried to make him a Normal Monster. However, apparently a monster cant be Spirit and Normal. Oh well... Yōkai Shrine Maiden - Orihime Yōkai Shrine Maiden - Onodera Yōkai Shrine Maiden - Tsuyumi Yōkai Shrine Priest - Kirito Extra Deck Monsters Yōkai Shrine Priest - Fukuoka Yōkai Shrine High Maiden - Fujisaki Yōkai Shrine High Priest - Fukunaga (Had two arts for this one) Yōkai Shrine High Spirit Legend - Ōkami (The Boss Monster) Spell and Traps Ōkami's Rejection Offerings To The Yōkai Reincarnating Spirits Of The Yōkai Yōkai Watch (Lol) Yōkai Shrine This is a really simple but powerful card. This would imply that every monster during the end phase returns to the hand. This essentially board wipes your opponents entire monster zone for you before your turn that is if this card is not destroyed by then of course. Since you play a yōkai deck this effect does not harm you. The Path Of The Yōkai What a beautiful fair generic effect. Yugioh needs more cards like these in my opinion. And Voila! If you reached this point looking through the effects of these cards, I would like to thank you. Now just one more thing: your feedback guys. I want to know what you guys think.. is it fun to play with or against? Is it too overpowered or unfair? Would you play this archetype? Thanks!
