Today's card is ''Caravan of the Ice Barrier'' Caravan of the Ice Barrier Water/Level 1/Sea Serpent/Effect Once per turn, if you control a face up WATER monster, you can reveal this card in your hand and if you do, each player draws 1 card. you can only activate this effect of ''Caravan of the Ice Barrier'' once per turn. You can discard this card to select 2 ''Ice Barrier'' monsters in your GY except ''Caravan of the Ice Barrier'' add them to your hand. Tinkerer Posted April 12, 2022 Report Share Posted April 12, 2022 As YCM's resident self-proclaimed "Ice Barrier Guy", I do have to ask: did you have a specific goal in mind when retraining these monsters? I have to ask because the retrains don't really seem to follow IB's strategies or themes. Of the three, I would only imagine that this one - Caravan - would be used regularly (I'd probably run 2). The other two monsters have better effects than their original counterparts, but they would most likely not be used in the deck. If your goal was simply to buff the monsters, then yes I think the retrains are fine. But if you intended them to be used or to feel more appropriate in an IB deck, then they could use a little more work. If you want, pm me and we can talk! In relation to particular themes with Ice Barrier monsters, this would just serve as a way to regather Ice Barrier monsters and help recycle them. Royal Knight of the Ice Barrier would help with the common Ice Barrier + Wetlands strategy as well as playing on the King lore. Having another monster be sacrificed instead of their king. Samurai of the Ice Barrier would once again have the effects of some Synchro Ice Barriers in mind. Since he's a proud samurai he would refuse to be returned to the hand or ''retreat'' and his effect would help play on Ice Barrier's monsters offensive output. Which I think is lacking.
