By discarding two cards from my hand I can destroy your attacking monster and one other face-up monster on your side of the field...but since it's the only face-up monster on your side of the field only it gets destroyed. Also, for the cost of Demonic Intervention's effect, I discard Coston Warrior (Warrior-type/Earth/level 5/atk 2000/def 1000) and his special ability allows him to count as the 2 cards needed for the cost.
